In what officials are heralding as a “world first, Scotland will require schools to “embed” teaching LGBT rights into their curriculum in a move they believe will tackle “homophobia and discrimination.”

The new guidelines call for schools to teach the history of LGBT people and movements, LGBT identity, LGBT equality, and issues related to homophobia. 

Ministers accepted recommendations for the new requirements from a “working group” which was led by a campaign called “Time for Inclusive Education.” The campaign, founded in 2015 and based in Scotland, claims to have “one aim: to combat homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in schools with LGBT-inclusive education.” The driving force behind their campaign is the belief that, “LGBT history, role models, & issues affecting LGBT young people should be taught & recognized within all schools.”

The implementation of LGBTI inclusive education across all state schools is a world first. The Department of Health and Human Services issued a final rule this week that gives protections to companies and organizations who object to providing abortion-inducing drugs to their employees as part of their health care plans. 

The controversy dates back to the Obama administration when HHS issued rules forcing companies – including some religious organizations – to cover drugs that can induce a chemical abortion. That sparked a series of lawsuits by Christian colleges, universities and other religious groups. 

The Trump administration overturned those requirements. On Wednesday HHS issued its final rule that provides “conscience protections to Americans who have a religious or moral objection to health insurance that covers contraceptive methods,” including “certain contraceptives that many view as abortifacients, and/or sterilization procedures,” according to a summary of the new rule on the HHS website. The new rules do not apply to publicly traded companies. 

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, did not require such coverage. Legal groups that specialize in religious liberty issues applauded the action.

On a television broadcast, the well-known End Time prepper asked the audience if they had ever seen so much hatred for a political leader. After a legal battle lasting nearly two years, a conservative college professor reprimanded by his school for having “dangerous” views on marriage has won the fight. 

The Pacific Justice Institute stated that an arbitrator ruled in favor of Moreno Valley College sociology professor Eric Thompson. According to WND.com the lengthy legal battle entailed a series of depositions and administrative hearings, as well as an arbitration that lasted for several days. 

Thompson was reprimanded by the institution several years ago for discussing topics that included marriage, homosexuality, and gender roles with his students. 

During the course of his class the professor reportedly “also circulated the film ‘Understanding Same-Sex Attraction’ which suggested homosexuality might be a choice rather than hard-wired,” the institute stated. 

According to PJI, the sociology professor introduced conservative thought regarding controversial matters as a way to challenge his students to defend their assumptions. 

Numerous students and colleagues viewed the way in which Thompson seemingly endorsed non-liberal beliefs to be a form of “harassment,” come even calling it “dangerous,” PJI mentioned.

Former “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette took to Twitter on Monday to encourage Christians to vote against the Republican party saying, President Donald Trump is the “opposite of Jesus” and she would not be supporting him or “his pals.”

Perrette, who played NCIS forensic scientist Abby Scuito for 15 seasons before leaving the show, posted a screenshot of a note to her Twitter account sharing why, as a Christian, she was happy with her vote. 

Perrette wrote, “Where is Jesus when voting for someone who does the opposite of Jesus? I’m serious. I’m a faith-driven person. Jesus didn’t make fun of people, say horribly mean things, spread hate about race, women, handicapped and pretty much any target that makes the hateful cheer.”

She continued, “I’m happy with my vote, as a Christian, to listen to love and Jesus and vote against Trump and his pals in any way. He is a mean, mean man. He’s fooling you. Stop laughing with him. It’s cruelty and it’s wrong.”

A group of humanists in the United Kingdom is asking people and organizations to stop supporting Operation Christmas Child and give to other non-profits instead. 

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, founded by well-known evangelist Franklin Graham. Families, individuals, businesses, and churches all over the world purchase gifts for children in impoverished countries so they can enjoy their Christmas as well. With permission from local leaders, they also distribute a “colorful booklet” called “The Greatest Gift,” which tells the story of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection.

Writing in The Guardian, Polly Toynbee expressed her displeasure with the popular ministry. Toynbee, who serves as a Vice President for Humanists UK, said the shoeboxes “are used for anti-Muslim proselytizing.” She said that because of Graham’s leadership, people who pack a shoebox may be “backing a pro-Trump, anti-gay message.” 

She quotes Humanists UK’s spokesman Richy Thompson, who says that, “Those who donate to the scheme are well-intentioned and want to make an altruistic contribution, but donors in the UK should be aware of the nature of Operation Christmas Child’s activities and instead find a reputable and inclusive charity that has no ulterior motives and only has children’s best interests at heart.”
