Comedian Sarah Silverman, who has made a career out of mocking religion, took her crass humor to another level last week with an Election Day skit involving a cursing “Jesus” who is promiscuous. 

The skit, which appeared on Hulu’s I Love You America, shows Silverman in a line on Election Day when she spots “Jesus” (played by Fred Armisen) at the front and calls out his name. Newsbusters first reported about the controversy. 

“Sarah, my child, how are you?” she asks.

“I’m great, how are you?” he responds.

The discussion quickly devolves into a discussion of his genitalia – which he happily talks about – before the conversion turns to politics.   

“I don’t want to say who I’m voting for,” he says.

Silverman asks him which issues are most important to him.

“I just want a law that says you can’t force your kid to die publicly by bleeding to death on a cross,” he says. 

The discussion then turns back to sex, with Silverman saying she wished he wasn’t celibate. 

“I’m essentially pansexual,” he says, before adding that he had “sex” with an oak tree recently. 

When Silverman lets an f-bomb slip, he curses, too, saying, “I curse all the time. F— f— f—. D–n. P–s. H–l. B—-rd. S–t.”

The family and friends of Christian author Eugene Peterson celebrated his life at his memorial service on Saturday, with son Leif revealing the one message his father had for the world.

Peterson, most famous for The Message Bible, passed away at the age of 85 in October, leaving behind a legacy of influence.

Leif Peterson touched on that legacy during his speech at First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell, Montana, recalling that his family for years received messages from people explaining how Peterson led them to ministry and saved their marriages.

He said that in the latter stages of his life, his father didn’t always understand the full context of the letters that were sent to him, but appreciated that they were good news.

“My dad’s message was that good news always plays out best in relationships. The writer of Genesis tells us that at the end of each day of creation, God looked around the world that He had done, and saw that it was good,” Leif Peterson said.

Michael Bublé joined The Late Late Show host James Cordon for an episode of Carpool Karaoke where he gave all the glory to God for healing his son from cancer. 

While driving through Los Angeles for some lighthearted fun and Michael Bublé karaoke, Cordon asked the Canadian singer how he and his family got through the last several years following his oldest son’s cancer diagnosis.

Bublé told the British show host, “We all moved and we lived at [Children’s Hospital Los Angeles] and we just had the best doctors and, God, thank you, Jesus Christ, God.”

Bublé said that that time in his life was too hard to talk about saying, “We got the diagnosis and that was it man, my life ended.”

The Grammy winning artists said, “Basically they just said that it wasn’t great. And so, we took it day by day.”

Bublé noted that their entire family including several extended family members uprooted their lives and moved to the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles for the duration of his son Noah’s treatment.

According to CBN News, Noah was diagnosed in 2016, at the age of three, with liver cancer. As of 2018, Noah is now in remission from his cancer.

Still, that time in the singer’s life is painful. Bublé told Cordon, “I’m not OK.”
