When I pray about or simply meditate on all the people who are hurting, I have a strong desire to help them all. I sometimes feel that my desire is bigger than my ability, and it is—but it is not bigger than God’s ability!

When the thing we are facing in our lives or ministries looms so big in our eyes that our mind goes “tilt,” we need to think in the spirit. In the natural, many things are impossible. But in the supernatural, spiritual realm, with God nothing is impossible.

God wants us to believe for great things, make big plans, and expect Him to do things so great it leaves us with our mouths hanging open in awe. James 4:2 tells us we have not because we ask not! We can be bold in our asking.

Sometimes in my meetings people will approach the altar for prayer and sheepishly ask if they can request two things. I tell them they can ask God for all they want to, as long as they trust Him to do it His way, in His timing. It is untold what people can do—people who don’t appear to be able to do anything.

God does not usually call people who are capable. If He did, He would not get the glory. He frequently chooses those who, in the natural, feel as if they are in completely over their heads but who are ready to stand up on the inside and take bold steps of faith as they get direction from God.

We usually want to wait until we “feel ready” before we step out, but if we feel ready then we tend to lean on ourselves instead of on God.

Know your weaknesses and know God—know His strength and faithfulness. Above all else, don’t be a quitter.

Prayer Starter: Oh, Lord, help me to make you bigger in my eyes and believe You can do the impossible in my life. Help me to live with “God confidence,” and trust You to do things that are above and beyond what I even think I deserve. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 4:29-34

MEMORY VERSE: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” – 3 John 1:2

The MESSAGE:

Many believers suffer failure at the edge of breakthrough because they do not do what God expects of them. It is the will of God for every Christian to be prosperous. However, believers experience failure because of their ignorance. To destroy this garment of failure, you must ask God what He wants you to do and make sure you do them. I pray for you, that the garment of failure in your life shall be destroyed, in Jesus’ name.

We can see from 1 Samuel 1:8-9 that Hannah was failing at the altar of prayer. She later decided to destroy the garment of failure on her and made use of the weapon of covenant making to succeed. In the book of Daniel, Daniel prayed mildly and obtained no result. It was as if he was a failure in the temple of prayer, but he later decided to put off the garment of failure and made use of the weapon of persistence to obtain victory. Mordecai, Esther and the Jews living in a strange land were about to fail but Esther changed her mind and her fellow Jews joined her to make use of the weapons of fasting to gain victory over the enemies.

Elijah was almost failing but thank God for the weapon of fire he called down to disgrace the prophets of Baal. They were not only disgraced but also destroyed. In the case of Gehazi, he could not use any of the available weapons; therefore, he failed woefully at the altar of prayer. The staff of Elisha in the hand of Gehazi did not work at the altar of prayer, but the same staff worked for Elisha. It seemed Gehazi was putting on the garment of failure that manifested as covetousness and greed. He refused to remove the negative garment and ended up failing completely and consequently received the gift of leprosy.

Effective prayer is specific and brings result. It flows and works with the Holy Spirit and brings testimony. Have you been praying without result? Do not give up; all you need is the right weapon to remove the garment of failure at the altar of prayer. Choose an effective weapon today after the order of Hannah, Daniel and our Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be victorious. At the altar of prayer, seriousness, faith, hope, patience and aggression are the needed ingredients for result to manifest. Pray using the available weapons to destroy the garment of failure in your life and you shall never remain the same.

Topic: He Is The God Of All Flesh [TREM Devotional 1 November 2018]

“Then the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah saying, Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:26-27 (KJV)

God is the God of all flesh. When He says all flesh; He means all flesh; including birds, chickens, goats, and lions. All flesh includes presidents, prime ministers, governors and ambassadors. Whatever is flesh, the Lord is God over all of them. It means He can speak to presidents on your behalf and force them to do what He wants because the bible says the heart of a king is in His hands. He can direct it to wherever as long as it is flesh. Glory to God!

He is the Lord God of all flesh and there is nothing too hard for Him to do. That is why He can prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies and tell them to watch you; and you can never be destroyed.

Beloved why will God know that there is an enemy before you and still prepares a table? It is because He is the God of all flesh. They will be watching you because their assignment is to wash the plates. The number of years you have been in captivity or in a situation does not intimidate God. Nothing is too hard for Him. He will bring you out.

In 1 Kings chapter 17, the scripture records that there was famine in the land and God said to Elijah I want you to go to the brook. I have commanded a raven to feed you with bread and flesh. Raven eats flesh but the God of all flesh spoke to the raven saying I know you eat flesh but don’t touch this one because it is specially made for Elijah. That raven was under commandment to take the bread and flesh to Elijah and it obeyed. Though a ravenous bird yet it did not eat the flesh in the midst famine. What a mighty God we serve!

Text: 2 Samuel 20:1-13 (KJV)

Key Verse: “So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah: but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him“ (2 Samuel 20:5).

MESSAGE:

After David overcame the rebellion of his son Absalom, who died shamefully, another uprising led by Sheba, came up. Sheba, the son of Bichri, led all Israel except Judah, to turn their backs against David.

Seeing the evil ploys of Sheba, David quickly called and instructed Amasa his nephew, who earlier pitched his tent with Absalom in his revolt, to assemble for him the men of Judah within three days and return to him. Amasa had just been appointed by David as commander-in-chief of his army to replace Joab who incurred the wrath of David for killing Absalom.

Amasa’s delay in assembling the soldiers of Judah within three days, made David to send Abisai, another faithful soldier to run after Sheba and dislodge him with his supporters. On hearing this, Joab joined the troop with a seemingly innocuous intention of pursuing Sheba. Eventually, he met Amasa, and he murdered him as a result of his bitterness, envy and jealousy. Amasa’s life could have been spared perhaps, had he not delayed.

There is danger in delay or procrastination. Whatever God asks believers to do should be done faithfully and with prompt obedience.

There is time for everything on earth. What you are to do today should not be delayed till tomorrow. No wonder Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work”. When running errands or rendering services for God, we should make haste to get it done as specified. Remember that people who procrastinate can never serve God satisfactorily.

Thought For The Day: Delay in rendering service to God is as damnable as outright disobedience.

Topic: Accessing God’s Presence [Seeds of Destiny 1 November 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Psalms 100:4

Thought For The Day: It is critical to give thanks to God if you must access His Presence.

The Presence of God is the greatest asset of man on earth. If a person desires to get to the top in life and stay on top, he/she must cultivate and maintain the Presence of God in his/her life.

Now, one way or avenue of accessing God’s presence is thanksgiving. Thanksgiving gives access to God’s Presence (Psalm 100:4). People who accessed God’s Presence in the Scripture and in contemporary times praised their way into His Presence.

However, when a person comes before God with complains instead of praises, such a person will not gain access to the gates of God, let alone the courts of His Presence. It is like standing outside the gate of a man’s house trying to talk to the man who is in his bedroom.

So, it is critical to give thanks to God if you must access His Presence, and when you gain access to God’s Presence, many things happen (Psalm 100:5).

Let me give you three examples of the things that happen when you gain access to the Presence of God:
1. We encounter the manifestation of the goodness of God
It is not possible to know how to praise and not experience the goodness of God (Psalm 100:4-5).

2. We encounter the manifestation of God’s mercy
The mercy of God is located in the Presence of God; and God’s mercy preserves us from destruction (Psalm 100:4-5).

3. We encounter the manifestation of the truth of God
The truth of God is the Word of God (John 17:17, Psalm 100:4-5).
As you give God praise, you will encounter the truth that will guarantee your liberty in life, in Jesus’ Name.

Beloved, my counsel is, make up your mind to praise God always.

Remember this: It is critical to give thanks to God if you must access His Presence.

Assignments:
1. Avoid the lifestyle of complaining and murmuring.
2. Live a life of deep praise and worship.

Topic: Compassion Fatigue [Our Daily Bread 1 November 2018 Devotional]

Read: Matthew 9:35–38, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 24–26; Titus 2

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36

Anne Frank is well known for her diary describing her family’s years of hiding during World War II. When she was later imprisoned in a Nazi death camp, those with her said “her tears [for them] never ran dry,” making her “a blessed presence for all who knew her.” Because of this, scholar Kenneth Bailey concluded that Anne never displayed “compassion fatigue.”

Compassion fatigue can be one of the results of living in a badly broken world. The sheer volume of human suffering can numb even the best intentioned among us. Compassion fatigue, however, was not in Jesus’s makeup. Matthew 9:35–36 says, “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”

Our world suffers not only from physical needs but also from spiritual brokenness. Jesus came to meet that need and challenged His followers to join Him in this work (vv. 37–38). He prayed that the Father would raise up workers to respond to the needs all around us—people who struggle with loneliness, sin, and illness. May the Father give us a heart for others that mirrors His heart. In the strength of His Spirit, we can express His compassionate concern to those who are suffering.

In a world filled with heartache, we can model the compassion of Jesus.

INSIGHT:
While contemplating the crowd in Matthew 9, Jesus did three specific things. First, He “saw” the crowds (v. 36) and recognized they were “harassed and helpless.” Second, He felt compassion toward them (v. 36). Finally, our Lord acted by challenging His disciples to pray that the Father would raise up workers to serve in the harvest (v. 38).

We find the same pattern in Acts 17 when Paul entered the city of Athens. He saw (v. 16) that the city was filled with idols, which stirred strong feelings within him (“he was greatly distressed”)—perhaps because of the self-destructive nature of idol worship. Then Paul acted by engaging people with the message of Jesus and His resurrection (vv. 17–18).

This pattern practiced by both Jesus and Paul established a model we can embrace today.

But faith…worketh by love. – Galatians 5:6

I used to wonder why we believers didn’t see more of the power of God operating among us than we do. With what we know about faith and the Word, it seemed to me signs and wonders and miracles should be happening all the time.

So, one day I asked, “Lord, why isn’t the power of God turned up to a higher volume in the Church?”

Do you know what He said? He told me we weren’t walking in enough love yet.

God wants us to have power. But first, He has to be sure we’ll use that power in love. He wants to know that we won’t take it and mix it with judgment and criticism and blast people out of the water.

Kenneth, He said, I can’t afford to back your words with supernatural power in a church service on Sunday morning and then have you get on the freeway that night and lash out at someone because he pulled over into your lane. You’d blow him off the highway. I can’t leave the power of Almighty God at a high volume in the mouth of an unmerciful fool.

Then He reminded me of a time I took my son, John, hunting. He was just a little guy at the time, barely big enough to keep his gun from knocking him on his back every time he’d pull the trigger. I was teaching him how to shoot, and he was coming along pretty well.

That day we were walking along out at Gloria’s grandparents’ farm and John spotted one of the biggest tarantula spiders I’d ever seen. It was clinging to the wall of the barn. When John saw that spider, he took aim. He was going to blow that bug away.

If I hadn’t stopped him, he would have too. And it wouldn’t have dawned on him until it was all over that he was going to blow a hole in the barn at the same time. From my grown-up perspective, I could see that would be foolishness. He couldn’t. He was looking through the eyes of a child.

Do you want God to put a shotgun of spiritual power in your hand, so you can blow the works of the devil to kingdom come? Then focus on love. Pursue it. Practice it. Study it. Grow up in it. Then you’ll see the power of God operating through you.
