MESSAGE:

This season, all will be well with you if you allow the Lord Jesus Christ to take charge of your life and every situation. You cannot expect all to be well with you if God is not completely involved in every area of your life. Our assurance that all will be well is also hinged on the fact that the Lord deals with problems right from their roots.

According to Romans 6:23, the immediate or remote destination of any act of sin is death. A thief who is caught stealing may be shot dead. A fornicator who sleeps with a person who is not his/her spouse may contact the AIDS virus which can lead to death. What of anger, malice and bitterness? If you take stock of those who die prematurely, you will be shocked to know many people are victims of these sins. So when God says you should keep away from sin, He is only making a clarion call to life; he wants you to live, you must deal with the problem of sin in your life. Any sin that is present in your life is simply leading you to hell. Break away from it today!

Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, let sin no longer reign over my spirit, soul or body, please terminate sin’s death mission in my life.

Topic: Divine Prescription for Serving God Acceptably

Looking at the Scriptures today, we need to understand how important the ark of God was to the children of Israel. It depicted the presence of God, showed them the way to go, it divided the Red Sea, gave them peace and rest of mind. When they were to go to battles, when the walls of Jericho was to be pulled down, the ark was there with them. When the ark was in the midst of the children of Israel, blessings came to them and peace from the presence of God, hence, they carried the ark wherever they went.

God had ordained and commanded how the ark was to be carried: by the levites on poles resting on their shoulders, in fact, they were not to touch the ark with their hands. But at that time, when they were to move the ark back to its place, they completely forgot about all these important details.

We must know that TIME does not CHANGE the WORDS and COMMANDS of God.

We must check out our foundation: the foundation of our Christian life, journey and service to God. If it is wrong at the foundation, nothing good can eventually come out of it.

Uzza might mean well, but God called his action a sin. To others, his action was a misdeed, a mistake, but to God, it was simply a sin. It is not the will or plan of God for sinners to die, but as for Uzza who died under the anger of God, it was the judgment of God that came to him. We must ensure we are very careful not to flout God’s directives, because whatever He calls sin is sin.

The children of Israel should have known earlier the truth they found out later in Scriptures. 1 Chronicles 15:11-15. David instructed the levites to sanctify and make themselves ready to bear the ark. In doing anything for God, we must sanctify ourselves. Doing something good in the wrong way is as good as bad. Even in doing the right thing, we must not relegate God’s word to the background, the levites eventually carried the ark the way they ought to have carried it in the first place.

The things of God must be done God’s way, not in our own way. Action without appropriate submission to God’s word is not acceptable.

Romans 15:4 Everything written in the scriptures, both in the old and new testaments are for our learning and admonition. God intentionally recorded these incidences for us so, that we can learn from the errors and virtues of the sages of old.

Isaiah 55:8. We must always pray for grace to follow the way, will and prescription of God in our lives, families, places of work and in the church. God has nothing to do with the new ways that just came up, the new and so-called better ways of doing things. His way is His way, and He expects His children to always fall in line with whatever He wants.

Hebrew 12:28-29. God in the New Testament is not weak or indulgent, He will not overlook any act of sinfulness. He is a consuming fire. We cannot serve Him the way we want. His desires, purposes are what matter to Him, and they must matter to us as well.

1. THE DANGER OF UNACCEPTABLE CONSULTATIONS WITHOUT SCRIPTURES

1 Chronicles 13:1
David had good intentions, he knew the importance and value of the ark but he did not consult the word of God before embarking on bringing it back. Rather he consulted with all the leaders and the people.

Some people bring suggestions and counsels which they want to be accepted and used immediately, not bothering to know whether such counsel is profitable for the church of God at that particular time.

All the congregation decided and agreed on bringing back the ark, but no one remembered to consult the word of God on how it should be done. A thousands or millions of people cannot stand up to God. He is God, His will matters most. So, it is crucial to always seek His face before we take any step.

Numbers 4:15 And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.

As seen in this text, only the levites were permitted to carry the ark. II Samuel 6:6-7. Uzza stretched his hand to steady the ark, against God’s instruction, and God killed him. We must not take God for granted, our God is a consuming fire.

David usually asked for God’s mind on every issue, on whatever he wanted to do, so why not now? I Chronicles 12:32. It was because of the children of Issachar, who were men of understanding, whom their brethren listened to, they were the ones who counseled David. They were the ones he listened to. Hence, the word of a God was swept under the carpet.

Deuteronomy 12:8, 28, 32. We must not always do things which are right in our sight, but to do all things according to the will and purpose of God. We must not elevate the plan and purpose of man above that of God. How do we take decisions, make progress, or know what to do? By resorting to the word of God.

Proverbs 16:25
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Ch 19:2 That leaders, counselors, advisers be without knowledge is not good. Hasting to take decisions leads to error and sometimes death. Uzza died for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6. Many people perish for lack of knowledge. . .

Some people know how to talk and manage things well, but lack the knowledge of the word of God, and they always want their counsels to be taken urgently. Not so. The word of God must first be consulted for proper guidance and direction.

Romans 10:2, 27; Hebrews 2:1; 10:26-31.

Sinning willfully after our knowledge of the word of God attracts the wrath and judgment of God. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Anyone who finds it difficult to abide in the will of God is not born again, otherwise, it should be an easy thing to do. Such a one must seek salvation first.

ch 12:25. David had consultations with all the people, but jettisoned the aspect of God. But he realized this error and sought to make amends immediately.

2. THE DEMANDS OF UNWAVERING CONSECRATION WITH SANCTIFICATION

1 Chronicles 15:11-15.

David now called the right people, the levites, and told them to sanctify and make themselves ready to carry the ark of God. He wanted everything this time to be done properly. There must be salvation first before we seek to serve God. The levites did exactly what David told them to do. Church leaders must be careful the way they put people in position of God’s work.

1 Chronicles 15:15
And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.

Leviticus 20:7-8, It is wrong and ungodly to do the work of God without sanctification.

We must learn the technique, acquire knowledge of all that we need to do for God from institutions of learning outside there in the world, we then come into God’s sanctuary and apply these knowledge in holiness and sanctification, we do not come into God’s work in the ways and manner of the world.

2 Corinthians 7:1. We must perfect holiness in the fear of God. II Timothy 2:19. The Lord knows those who are His.

In the case of Uzza, God felt dishonoured, neglected, pushed aside. Whatever we do for God, we must do for God’s glory. Also, we must ensure that in our service to God, we keep ourselves holy, we must avoid immorality and flee the lust of the flesh, especially in the relationships between members of the opposite sex who work together in the sanctuary of God. There must not be room for uncleanness of any form for our services to be accepted. I Peter 1:14-16.

Ephesians 5:25-27; I Thess 5:22. In our consultations, administration, the word of God must be at the centre, we must flee every appearance of evil.

There is nothing as important as our salvation to get us to heaven. Before preaching, teaching, singing, etc. there must be salvation.

God demands:
– Salvation before Service
– Sanctification before ministry. Matthew 15:13-14
– Sanctification before Soul-winning
– Sanctification before Seeking the Lord
– Sanctification before Sacrifice
– Sanctification before giving our Substance

Mark 8:36-37. What shall it profit anyone if he gets the ovation, clapping and approval of men after rendering service to God, and he loses his soul eventually? The approval of God matters most, much more than the praise of men.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3; Proverbs 21:27. The service, good deeds and works of sinners is abomination before God. God demands from us unwavering sanctification and consecration.

3. DELIVERANCE FROM UNBEARABLE CONSEQUENCES OF SINFUL SPEECH

1 Chronicles 15:29
Michal, David’s wife despised him in her heart, because she felt he was ridiculing himself by dancing in the presence of God. She thought he was not dignifying himself as a king should. As a result of this action, God shut her womb, she was barren throughout life. II Samuel 6:16, 20-23

Our negative attitude to servants of God could result to fruitlessness and hinder our prayers. When the king came in to bless his household, Michal put her negative thoughts into words:

2 Samuel 6:20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

This was the woman David loved so much that he risked his life to get the foreskins of several philistines in battle to present to King Saul, her father as bride price. She was supposed to be the mother of the heir to the throne, but her womb remained permanently shut because it was God who did it Himself.

David responded fire for fire, making reference to how God rejected her father, Saul, and appointed him as king. Thus, family issues and squabble was brought out into the open.

Some people with their tongue destroy themselves, hinder their progress, prayers, getting help, making spiritual progress, and even making it to heaven. James 3:5-6; Ecclesiastes 5:2-6. We must not be rash with our mouth. We must choose our words carefully so that we do not incur the wrath of God.

ch 10:13-15.
vs 20a. Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber . . .
God wants us to bring our tongues under control, He does not approve of us speaking ill of our leaders, both in the church and in the nation.

Job 42:3; 34:31-32; Psalm 139:23-24. Even today, there is opportunity to make amends.

PRAYER:
– May God Almighty keep us from all errors. May we always give due honour to Him and His words.

– May God bless and keep our father in the Lord for us, May he continue to place a high premium on the word of God everyday of his life and ministry. Amen.

Topic: Obey Instructions [TREM Devotional 30 October 2018]

“He replied, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” – Luke 11:28 NIV

Too many believers are going about flouting God’s instructions and expecting to see results. You cannot flout God’s word and expect to see God’s kind of results. His word is there to guide you; His word is there to show you how to navigate your life. However, if you do not follow His instructions, you cannot blame God. The Bible tells us “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known unto God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV) God knew ahead of time that in this life, there would be occasions for you to be anxious, and so provided a solution for those times.

The challenge with a lot of us is that we handle it our way, and expect a different result, and it does not work that way. The bible is filled with solutions to every problem humanity would ever face, but the question remains, are you acting in accordance with the prescribed solution? The scriptures tell us not to worry about tomorrow, what to eat, what to wear. Now it did not say don’t plan, but it says don’t worry. The truth of the matter is that you cannot even worry and plan at the same time, because your plans will be filled with a lot of negativity, because worry produces negative thoughts. The Bible tells us to speak to our mountains, but most of us go around talking about our mountains, and then we fold our arms and say it is not working.

Beloved, we must make up our minds to obey God’s word. There are no two ways about it. If you want to see results, if you want your situation to change, then obey the word of God. I will surely hear your testimonies.

The only language the devil understands is that of power. We are in the era of power. Without power, Christianity will be a mere religion.

Psalms 66:3 (KJV) Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

Without power, men will degrade the gospel. It took God’s power for Pharaoh to submit and let go of the Israelites. Darkness has no respect for title, education or background; only the power of God. You need power to subdue the forces of darkness. If you lose power, you lose influence.

Psalms 110:2-3 (KJV) 2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 3a Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power.

The entire world lies in darkness and in the midst of your enemies, God wants you to rule. Even in business, you need power to be established.

1 Corinthians 4:20 (KJV) For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

The kingdom of God is a kingdom of power.

1 Corinthians 2:4 (KJV) And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

The entire world is waiting for your manifestation; not your explanations. They want you to show that Jesus is real; not stories and theories.

Romans 8:19 (KJV) For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

With power, you become an enviable personality and will not be ashamed to be called the child of God. You must desire to walk in power; push yourself to acquire divine power. The first thing Jesus restored was power. Power is one of the proofs that Jesus Christ is real; your prosperity is tied to it. The level you will reach in life is based on the power at work in you

Ephesians 3:20 (KJV) Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

To fulfill destiny, you need to be empowered and you need divine power to actualize divine plan. For every open door, there is an adversary. God told Moses, “tell Pharaoh Let my people go” but Pharaoh was skeptical until God showed HIS power. Forces will challenge you but be equal to the task. That God said you will be a great man is not automatic; you need power to overcome challenges of life. The enemy will always want to stand in the way of divine plan; that is why you must grow in divine power.

Power is not for preachers but for every child of God and its authentic source is the Holy Spirit. When you operate in power, demons will see you and run. When you are in charge of power, you are in charge of everything. Christianity becomes sweet when you walk in divine power.

Let the reality of the divine power in you begin to come alive in Jesus name -Amen!

MESSAGE:

One aspect of Africa’s idolatrous practices is the art of giving praise names to flatter and honour people who are held in high esteem. The unbelieving Africans shower praises and by-names on great people during important occasions to adore and exalt them for their positions and accomplishments. In that process, men are sometimes given praises for what is obviously done by God. The heathens are oblivious that praises due unto God should not be given to or received by any man.

In the text, King Herod was flattered by the people of Tyre and Sidon who came to appease and conciliate him in order to regain his favour and love as he was their benefactor. They ascribed to him honour and glory due unto God. They shouted with one voice after the elegant and royal speech of King Herod that his voice was the voice of a god and not of a man.

It should be realised that our God is a jealous God who will never share His glory or praises with anyone. No wonder, an angel of God struck Herod dead and was immediately eaten up by worms. God will definitely be glorified upon anyone who refuse to glorify Him.

No child of God should allow anyone to give him any praises due unto God. When a believer is praised or flattered, he should direct the glory to God immediately. Praise names, cognomens, bynames, flatteries and undue praises are the properties of Satan and his agents, which no believer should accept.

Open Heaven 30 October 2018 Tuesday MESSAGE:

One of the signs by which you know that God is with you or that His presence is in whatever you are doing is when you have peace in your heart. Peace is the state of harmony that is made available to the children of God through a right relationship with Him and a good relationship with their fellow human beings. Peace is associated with the presence of the Prince of Peace, Jesus. His presence is made manifest in the world today by the Holy Spirit. The absence of peace in a person’s life leads to fearful worry or anxiety. It is not God’s plan for a child of God to process a distressed state of mind that is filled with concern over present or future challenges. For this reason, the Holy Spirit says to us in Philippians 4:6:

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

God knows that the pressure of the needs we face in this world can rob us of His peace, and so He sent us these words to help us recognize the right thing to do when confronted with challenges. Worrying about your needs or the challenges you are confronted with will not change anything; rather it is a snare of the devil to cause sickness such as high blood pressure in people. I pray that you will not be a victim of hypertension, stroke or heart disease in Jesus’ Name.

The Bible reveals Jesus as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). This means that wherever there is turmoil or crisis, once Jesus is invited into the situation and the presence of the Holy Spirit is called upon, a sense of wellbeing, contentment and wholesomeness will be restored immediately. This is what happened in Mark 4:39, when Jesus rebuked the storm after the disciples called upon Him:

“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

The Name of Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit establish peace in God’s children, irrespective of the outward circumstances around them. True peace is therefore an indication of the presence of Jesus, made manifest by the Holy Spirit, in any given situation. I pray that the presence of God that brings lasting peace will abide with you today in Jesus’ Name. If you are passing through a stressful and difficult time in your life, if you are going through serious financial crisis or your marriage is in turmoil, if you are experiencing psychological or emotional trauma that defies solution, it is time to call on the Name Jesus and invite the presence of the Holy Spirit into your life. As you do so, God will grant you all round peace today in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: What Matters Most In Life [Seeds of Destiny 30 October 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13

Thought For The Day: It is not whether you are a citizen of a particular nation but whether you are a citizen of Heaven that matters most in life.

A good understanding of what matters most in life is very critical to living a successful and impactful life. To understand what matters most in life is to avoid aimless and wasteful living.

However, many people do not know what really matters in life, so they end up chasing shadows. There are people who have ended their journey of life in regrets because they chased shadows on earth in their lifetime.

In order to avoid eternal regrets, I give you two of the things that matter most in life so you can reorder your scale of priorities in life:

1. The Ownership of your life
It is not who you are but whose you are that matters in life. You may be a doctor, a lawyer, a millionaire, or a billionaire, it does not matter; unless you are owned by God, your life and all that you have are wastes. Your achievements on earth do not matter if you do not have a personal relationship with God.

2. Your Eternal Citizenship
Some people are proud because they are citizens of great countries like United States of America, United Kingdom, etc.; others celebrate when they acquire the citizenship of these countries. The truth is, it is not your citizenship here on earth that matters most in life but your citizenship in eternity in heaven. Having the passports of great countries of the world without having the passport of heaven is a waste of life.

Beloved, in order to live a fulfilled life on earth and end well in eternity, focus your mind on the things that matter most in life.

Remember this: It is not whether you are a citizen of a particular nation but whether you are a citizen of Heaven that matters most in life.

Assignments:
1. Relinquish the ownership of your life and possessions to God.
2. Determine to pursue having a place in heaven by drawing closer to God.

Topic: Agreeing to Disagree [Our Daily Bread 30 October 2018 Devotional]

Read: Romans 14:1–13, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 20–21; 2 Timothy 4

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace. Romans 14:19

I remember hearing my dad talk about how difficult it was to walk away from unending arguments over differing interpretations of the Bible. By contrast he recalled how good it was when both sides agreed to disagree.

But is it really possible to set aside irreconcilable differences when so much seems to be at stake? That’s one of the questions the apostle Paul answers in his New Testament letter to the Romans. Writing to readers caught in social, political, and religious conflict, he suggests ways of finding common ground even under the most polarized conditions (14:5–6).

According to Paul, the way to agree to disagree is to recall that each of us will answer to the Lord not only for our opinions but also for how we treat one another in our differences (v. 10).

Conditions of conflict can actually become occasions to remember that there are some things more important than our own ideas—even more than our interpretations of the Bible. All of us will answer for whether we have loved one another, and even our enemies, as Christ loved us.

Now that I think of it, I remember that my dad used to talk about how good it is not just to agree to disagree but to do so with mutual love and respect.

Prayer: Father, please enable us to be patient and kind with those who don’t agree with us about anything or everything.

We can agree to disagree—in love.

Topic: It’s Your Decision [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 30 October 2018]

And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw [Jesus],he fell at his feet, And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him. – Mark 5:22-24

I wonder when God is going to do something about this problem! Have you ever asked that question? If so, you may be surprised to find out that the answer depends 100 percent on you.

There’s an incident in Mark 5 that will show you what I mean. Jesus had just gotten out of a boat and people were pressing all around Him, “thronging Him,” it says. They had Him shoved up against the shoreline when suddenly there came a man moving through that crowd to get to Jesus.

Throwing himself at Jesus’ feet, Mark records, he prays and beseeches Him greatly, saying, “My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her… and she shall live.”

Think about this situation for a moment. Here’s a man who’s politically on the level of the mayor of the city. But he’s so doggedly determined to get to Jesus that he fights his way through the crowd and clears out enough room to fall at Jesus’ feet. He’s made a decision—and when he gets to Jesus, he says exactly what it is: Lay your hands on her and she shall live.

Let me ask you something: Who do you think is directing the ministry of Jesus here? This one man! A man who’s made a decision. When he speaks that decision out, Jesus doesn’t say anything. He just stops what He’s doing, turns around and follows him.

In a crowd of literally thousands, the faith decision of one man is directing the actions of Jesus.

What does that mean to you? It means that if you’re sitting around waiting for Jesus to decide to heal you… for Jesus to decide to help you…for Jesus to decide to prosper you and give you victory…you’re in for a long wait. Because that’s not Jesus’ decision.

It’s yours.

Topic: Rejoice In The Lord – Always [Andrew Wommack Devotional 30 October 2018]

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

The world experiences joy and happiness in direct proportion to their circumstances. Bad circumstances produce depression and sorrow, while good circumstances produce joy and peace. That’s bondage, and does not have to be the case for a Christian. Our joy is not dependent on things, but rather on the person of Jesus Christ. He is our peace and joy.

The way we take advantage of this joy and peace in the midst of tribulation, is to have our minds and hearts stayed on things above and not on things of this earth. The invisible things of God are eternal while the visible problems on earth are only temporary. All the problems of this life grow very dim when we compare them to the glory of God that is ours through Jesus.

We can rejoice in the Lord always (Phil. 4:4) because rejoicing is an action, not a reaction to our environment. Joy is a gift from God that was given to us at salvation. It was placed within our born-again spirit and it doesn’t fluctuate or diminish; it is constant. The Lord has put the joy inside us and we are to “work it out” by choosing to obey this command in scripture.

We are commanded to rejoice “IN THE LORD.” Many people are not experiencing true joy because their joy is in their circumstances. That is, they are waiting to rejoice when things in their lives are going good, and that doesn’t happen very often. We are suppose to “rejoice in the Lord always.”

That means we are supposed to rejoice in who the Lord is and what He has done for us. He never changes (Heb. 13:8) and His mercies and compassions are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23).
