Seeds of Destiny 26 April 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: The Tragedy Of Forgetting Your Source

Topic: The Tragedy Of Forgetting Your Source [Seeds of Destiny Thursday April 26, 2018]

Scripture: But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18.

Thought For The Day: When you forget your Source, you forgo your success; when you forget your Source, you forgo your resources.

The Scripture makes it clear that God is the Source of all things; He is the true Source of supernatural supplies. It is important to know that it is not possible to have anything or to be anything in life without the Help of God (John 3:35).

However, one of the tragedies of life is forgetting God, who is the Source of all things. Now, there are many people who are not where you are today; And it is not because you did something special. This is why the fastest runner does not win the race at times, people with strength lose battles many times; they are highly learned personalities who are paupers, a person can be talented, still be tormented or stagnated; the truth is, what makes you what you are is being at the right place and at the right time which is the product of God’s Favour and Mercy (Ecclesiastes 9:11).

Now, what does it mean to forget your Source?
It is acting as if your strength, wisdom and ability brought you your success and resources. When we behave as if what we have is a product of our sweat and intelligence, we begin to forget our Source. Now, no one can sleep and wake up without the Help of God (Psalm 2:5). There many people who slept last night but could not wake up today.

Beloved, when you forget your Source, you forgo your success; when you forget your Source, you forgo your resources.

My counsel is, don’t ever beat your chest and say that it is your intelligence, energy, talent, connection and contact that brought you to where you are; look unto God alone as the Source of all things.

Remember this: When you forget your Source, you forgo your success; when you forget your Source, you forgo your resources.

Assignments:
1. Look away from your intelligence, connection, contacts and talents as the sources of your success in life.
2. Focus your mind and look unto God alone as your Source.

Prayer: O Lord, I refuse to look at my intelligence and connections as the reasons for my success in life. I receive the grace to look unto You only as the Source of my Success, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.

ConocoPhillips Wins $2 Billion Arbitration Against Venezuela

ConocoPhillips said Wednesday that it won a $2 billion arbitration award against Venezuela’s state oil company, compounding the financial woes of the socialist-run nation as it struggles to feed its population.

The award represents the equivalent of more than 20 percent of the cash-strapped government’s foreign currency reserves.

The Houston-based company said in a statement that the ruling against PDVSA by an International Chamber of Commerce panel was final and binding.

“ConocoPhillips will pursue enforcement and seek financial recovery of its award to the full extent of the law,” the company said in a statement.

But collecting the judgment won’t be easy, as President Nicolas Maduro is holding on to the few dollars trickling into the country from plummeting oil production and amid sanctions by the Trump administration barring U.S investors from lending money to the government.

There was no immediate comment from Venezuela’s government.

The ruling arose from the expropriation of ConocoPhillips’ investments in two heavy crude oil projects in 2007 at a time then President Hugo Chavez increased the state’s take of record oil rents, forcing foreign oil companies to accept less generous terms. Many instead left the country and sued to hold up their original contracts.

ConocoPhillips is pursuing separate legal action against Venezuela’s government under the auspices of the World Bank’s investment dispute mechanism. The World Bank tribunal has already ruled that Venezuela broke international law when it nationalized Conoco’s stakes in the two fields. Proceedings are…

‘Praise You in This Storm’: Teen Leads Worship in VA Town Hit by Tornado

‘Praise You in This Storm’: Teen Leads Worship in VA Town Hit by Tornado

A devastating tornado hit southwest Virginia last week and the communities are working to rebuild. In the midst of the destruction, a teen led a worship service, proclaiming God’s goodness even through trials.

. reports that the recent tornado destroyed many homes and businesses in the small town of Elon, Virginia, north of Lynchburg. Thankfully, there was no loss of life.

“The homes on Nottaway, Saponi and Mattoponi drive are filled with the finest people that you can ever know,” said Leecy Fink, who, along with her husband and five children lost their home to the tornado. “These parents and children are good to the core. They love their families; they love their neighbors like family; they love Jesus. Each family, I have heard, gave Him the credit for what we lived through … Thank you, God, for protecting my family, my people. We will rebuild. We will rebuild stronger. We will rebuild together.”

As the community began rebuilding, 17-year-old Tre Tyree stood amidst the rubble with a guitar and sang “Praise You in This Storm.”

Community members gathered to watch Tyree sing. The video shows them praying and embracing one another.

“I’ll praise you in this storm,” Tyree sings in the video while standing next to his girlfriend. “And I will lift my hands. For you are who you are./ No matter where I am. Every tear I’ve cried./ You hold in your hand….

5 Things You Should Know About the Armenian Genocide

Tuesday marked the 103rd anniversary of the genocide of Armenians, the vast majority of whom were Christians.

On April 24, 1915, the Ottoman government arrested and executed hundreds of Armenian intellectuals and subsequently killed 1.5 million other Armenians, some whom were crucified. By 1922 there were fewer than 400,000 Armenians left in the Ottoman Empire.

The issue remains politicized, however, as many nations refuse to recognize the atrocities as a genocide because of the political implications and actions required when using that word, particularly on an international stage.

“Today, #Armenia’ns in all the corners of the world pay tribute to the memory of victims of #ArmenianGenocide. Today we are more than vocal that #NeverAgain promise should kept and #crimesagaisnthumanity should be prevented. #ArmenianGenocide103” the official Twitter account for the country of Armenia posted Tuesday.

Here are five things you should know about the Armenian genocide, Armenians today, and the 103rd anniversary.

Coinciding With World War I

Armenia, a former Soviet republic, is a landlocked country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. It was the first nation in the world to declare Christianity its official religion in the fourth century. In the 15th century, the Armenians, who were mostly Christian, were absorbed into the Ottoman Empire and were ruled by Muslims, a backgrounder from the History Channel explains.

Although conflict had been brewing for decades before the genocide, a pivotal moment occurred when a nationalist group known as the Young Turks, who wanted to “Turkify”…

Alfie Evans’ Parents Lose Final Appeal to Keep Him Alive

Alfie Evans’ Parents Lose Final Appeal to Keep Him Alive

The parents of Alfie Evans, the little boy who has a rare neurodegenerative disorder have made a last desperate effort to save their son, but to no avail.

As ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported, Alfie’s parents, Tom Evans and Kate James, have been fighting a losing legal battle to either continue their son’s medical care in the UK or to take him to Italy where he has been welcomed by a Vatican hospital and doctors who are willing to try experimental treatments.

A UK High Court judge already denied Alfie’s parents’ request. On Monday, Alfie was taken off of his ventilator. Amazingly, however, Alfie survived, although even after this miracle, doctors waited hours before putting him back on life support and giving him water and food.

Alfie’s doctors and the UK High Court claim that keeping Alfie on life support is only prolonging his “inhumane” suffering, but his parents believe he is a fighter and that they should be able to try other treatments.

Alfie’s case has drawn the attention both of those who are advocates for the pro-life cause, as well as those who see it as a case of parental rights. People from Italy to Poland to the US and around the world are rallying to save him.

“With Italian doctors willing to treat Alfie and a plane standing by to take him to Italy, with his parents desperate to take them up on that invitation, the only conceivable reason…

Google Blocks Ads from Christian Publisher ‘Because of the Faith We Express’

Google Blocks Ads from Christian Publisher ‘Because of the Faith We Express’

An executive with a Lutheran publishing house says Google will no longer allow ads related to the publisher’s site “because of the faith we express.”

Bruce Kintz, CEO of Concordia Publishing House, said on his Facebook page this week that the organization was told that Google’s online ad service will not accept the CPH website because of some religious items on the page.

“[A CPH staff member] was told, as an example, that things like our bible challenge on our VBS webpage would clearly need to come down before they could consider us for ads,” Kintz said.

A Google spokesperson told The Christian Post that Google “welcomes advertising from religiously-affiliated institutions, including Christian organizations.”

The spokesperson said Google does have policies in place that “protect user privacy.” The policy restricts how advertisers can use data to personalize ads for users.

“We prohibit advertisers from using sensitive data such as race, religious affiliation, political affiliation or sexual orientation to show ads to users,” a statement from Google reads.

“Advertisers can’t use identity and belief categories to target ads to users or to promote advertisers’ products or services,” according to the policy.

The publishing house, however, says the ads that were rejected were “Remarketing ads,” where people who visit your site, but do…

‘Jesus the Homeless’ Statue in Manchester, UK Draws Attention to Plight of the Poor

‘Jesus the Homeless’ Statue in Manchester, UK Draws Attention to Plight of the Poor

A statue made to look like a homeless Jesus has been set on display on a park bench in Manchester, UK.

Relevant Magazine reports that the statue’s creator hopes it will raise awareness of the plight of the homeless and cause people to reflect on how Jesus cared for those in need.

The bronze statue looks like any homeless person until you look closer and see the nail marks on his feet, giving the fist clue that this statue is actually meant to depict Jesus.

The statue was created by Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz and was unveiled outside St. Ann’s Church fittingly by two homeless men. The statue was also blessed by the Bishop of Manchester.

The city of Manchester is reportedly dealing with a homeless crisis. Churches are leading the way to help those in need by providing shelter and other necessities.

Bishop David Walker, the chair of the Manchester Homeless Partnership, commented on the biblical mandate of caring for the poor:

“Jesus is very explicit in the Bible; when we offer or refuse to care to those in need, we will be judged as though he himself were the needy person before us. This sculpture casts Christ’s words into metal. It links them directly to one of the most visible expressions of human need.”

These 5 Vitamins and Supplements Could Be Dangerous When Taken in Excess

Vitamins and minerals are important to maintaining health, but there’s a reason that experts set daily recommended values for them. Supplements, especially those taken daily, would not only be a waste of money but could also prove dangerous when taken in excess, too.

With recommended daily allowances measured in the thousandths of milligrams, it’s all too easy to overdose on supplements. As always, a doctor’s advice is the best guide for those looking to take them, especially crucial for women planning to get pregnant, people on a restricted diet or those with pre-existing conditions.

Beta-carotene

Beta-carotene already exists in food items common in a healthy diet, especially carrots, spinach and dark leafy greens.

Pixabay/dbreenSome food sources already contain high amounts of Beta Carotene, including carrots, spinach, kale, and cantaloupe.

For the majority of healthy adults, vitamin A is the common source of beta-carotene, as Reader’s Digest, via Business Insider, pointed out. 3,000 IU is plenty for males, while adult females benefit little from beyond 2,130 IU. To put that into perspective, 15 milligrams of beta-carotene already provides 25,000 IU.

Some people believe high levels of beta-carotene helps prevent cancer, but studies show that high levels actually increase the risk of lung cancer in smokers. There is no final word on beta-carotene preventing other cancers, too, so to be safe, one should ask a doctor.

Folic acid

There’s already plenty of folic acid in fortified bread, asparagus, legumes and cereals.

Nigerian diocese angry at lack of government intervention in countless Christian murders

On Monday morning in a village called Mbalom in Nigeria, a gun attack on St Ignatius church killed 2 priests and 17 members of the congregation during a morning mass.

Parish Priest Father Joseph Gor and Father Felix Tyolaha died in the attack of around 30 militia men.

Many villagers fled into the bush as the militia men fired indiscriminately, burning down around 73 homes and destroying food stores.

The attack is thought to have been by Fulani herdsmen, a group who have had several clashes with the Christian community in Nigeria over the years.

Premier spoke to Father Moses Iorapu from the Makurdi diocese in which the attack took place.

Father Moses told Premier: “It’s not the first time it [St Ignatius] has been attacked, the place was attacked in 2014 and so many people killed.”

Listen to the full interview with Father Moses Iorapu from Makurdi Diocese in Nigeria, speaking to Premier’s Cara Bentley:

He described how violent the attacks are: “The herdsmen come and they’re properly armed with AK-47s and they attack the people,

“And they don’t just attack…they bring down houses and they use machetes, they start shooting people, they butcher people in a manner than animals aren’t even butchered.”

Persecution charity Christian Solidarity Worldwide say an estimated 170,000 people in Benue state have been displaced internally as a result of…

Open Heavens 26 April 2018 Thursday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – The Stiller of Storms

Topic: The Stiller of Storms [Open Heavens 26 April 2018, Thursday]

Memorise: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27

Read: Mark 4:35-41 (KJV)

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Bible in One Year: Ruth 1-2, Hebrews 3:7-4:7

MESSAGE:

Life can be very turbulent indeed, but thank God there is a Stiller of Storms, who is the Lord Jesus Christ. The wise will therefore anchor their life on Him (Hebrews 6:19). One truth is that at one point or the other in the course of life, everyone will experience a storm. It is therefore wise to prepare for storm by giving heed to what the word of the God teaches about them. Here is what the Stiller of Storms says about storms in Matthew 7:24-25:

“24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

In the above verses of Scripture, the Stiller of Storms likens His teachings to the power that stabilizes a structure battered by storms. A wise man will therefore take these teachings very seriously. Although the word of God is powerful, for it to work for you, you must be a doer of the word. James 1:22 says,

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

The story in Mark 4:35-41 reveals Jesus Christ as the Stiller of Storms. He was travelling in a ship with His disciples when a great storm arose, putting the ship and its occupants in jeopardy. Meanwhile, even in the midst of this storm, Jesus Christ was fast asleep, and the frightened disciples hurriedly woke Him up. When He awoke, He first rebuked the wind and then commanded peace to reign. In obedience to Him, the wind ceased and the Bible reports that there was immediately a great calm (Mark 4:39). After restoring calm, He rebuked His disciples for being fearful and faithless. Hear what the scripture says in Mark 4:41:

“And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Beloved, what kind of storm are you currently facing? I am using this opportunity to introduce to you that same Jesus, the Stiller of Storms. He can still that storm raging in your life, be it sickness, poverty, failure of disappointment of a great magnitude. Only believe, and you will see the glory of God. I advise you to invite Jesus Christ into your life if you have not done so before. He is eager to still your storms today.

Prayer Point: Jesus, You are the Stiller of Storms, please still every storm raging in my life today.

Hymn 10: My Faith Looks Up To Thee

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!
