BAGHDAD — On a recent Sunday in Baghdad, a congregation of Chaldean Catholics gather — masked and distanced — to attend Mass at the Church of the Holy Family. Some are from the capital, others fled the north of the country when ISIS seized swaths of territory nearly seven years ago.

“They announced it in the churches — leave, quickly, ISIS is coming,” says Nadera Butrus Tobya, 62, at church with her little grandson. She had been at a gathering before her daughter’s wedding near the Iraqi city of Mosul. The family piled into cars and fled the extremists and she has been in Baghdad ever since. Read more …

Netflix released the Trailer for their upcoming family musical, A Week Away

Netflix has released the trailer for their upcoming family musical, A Week Away, which tells the story of troubled teen Will Hawkins (Kevin Quinn) who has a run-in with the law that puts him at an important crossroad: go to juvenile detention or attend a Christian summer camp. At first a fish-out-of-water, Will opens his heart, discovers love with a camp regular (Bailee Madison), and sense of belonging in the last place he expected to find it. A Week Away releases Friday, March 26th, 2021.

Scandal-ridden RZIM suspends fundraising as it considers next steps after damning Ravi Zacharias report

Christian Today reports that – Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) has halted fundraising efforts following the release of a report detailing the late apologist’s extensive sexual misconduct.

A notice on the “Give” page on the RZIM website reads: “In light of recent revelations regarding our founder, we find it prudent to suspend all fundraising activities until a path forward can be envisioned that indicates care for all of Ravi’s victims as well as the staff and supporters of RZIM.”

The announcement came nearly a week after the release of the full report from Atlanta law firm Miller & Martin, which conducted an independent investigation into the late apologist’s sexual misconduct with massage therapists at a spa he co-owned in Georgia. The investigation also detailed various predatory acts overseas in Southeast Asia. Read more …

Christian Today reports that – New national leaders have been appointed to Hillsong UK as the global church initiates big changes following a challenging season.

Tim and Nicola Douglass, pastors of Hillsong’s Melbourne campus in Australia, were confirmed for the roles on Hillsong UK’s Instagram page on Friday.

They take over from Gary and Cathy Clarke who are transitioning into an international leadership role after senior pastors Brian and Bobbie Houston announced last weekend that they were looking to step back.
