‘Abortion Is a Blessing’: Minister Commits to Giving Pre-Paid Gas Cards to Women Seeking Abortions

‘Abortion Is a Blessing’: Minister Commits to Giving Pre-Paid Gas Cards to Women Seeking Abortions

Episcopal priest Reverend Katherine Ragsdale, with her organization National Abortion Federation, will hand out pre-paid gas cards for women seeking abortions, according to FaithWire.

“Since there are a limited number of providers and states continue to impose additional restrictions, many women have to travel long distances to reach the closest provider who can help them,” NAF said in a statement. “And this situation will only worsen as the political environment continues to become more hostile toward abortion rights.”

Ragsdale, who is the Interim President and CEO of NAF, believes the initiative will provide more support for women “so that they can make, and act on, the best decisions for themselves and their families.”

The pilot program will run for three months and start in states that have waiting periods or other abortion restrictions, LifeNews reports.

The response comes in light of several states furthering restrictive abortion limits. States such as Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana have nearly abolished terminations and several other states are poised to do the same.

As the first lesbian to become a leader of an Episcopal seminary, Ragsdale has been no stranger to controversy.

World Magazine reported Ragsdale’s allegiance lies not only with pro-choice causes, but pro-abortion.

Man Confesses to Murder and Robbery after Listening to Popular Christian Song, ‘Redeemed’

Man Confesses to Murder and Robbery after Listening to Popular Christian Song, ‘Redeemed’

A confessed murderer has revealed that he only chose to admit his crime after listening to a famous worship song and being convicted by the Holy Spirit.

Danny Dashay Holmes shocked a Tennessee court when he revealed that he’d experienced a change of heart after listening to the Big Daddy Weave song, “Redeemed.” Holmes was in prison and charged with robbery and murder when the spirit awakened his conscience.

“I’m 30 years old, and I’ve been fighting for nothing all my life,” he told Circuit Judge David Bragg, according to the Daily News Journal. “I’ve been fighting for gangs. … I ain’t never fought for anything that made sense. But I knew the Lord was telling me to fight for him this time. I just knew he was stirring on my spirit.”

Holmes insisted that the song had spoken straight to his heart, compelling him to speak the truth about what happened. “I knew the Lord was just on me, weighing on me over and over,” he declared.

Mike Weaver, the lead singer of the band, told Christianity Today that he was “blown away” by the impact his song had on the convict.

“Over the last handful of years, so many stories have come from God using that song,” he explained.  “It is a message that is so dear to [God’s] heart.”

The song’s lyrics go as follows:

“All my life I have been called…

Second Wrongly Convicted Christian Released in Kandhamal, India Case Counts Cost

Second Wrongly Convicted Christian Released in Kandhamal, India Case Counts Cost

NEW DELHI, August 29, 2019 (Morning Star News) – When Bijaya Kumar Sanaseth went to jail for a murder in India that he did not commit more than 10 and a half years ago, his mother was still alive and his oldest child was 9 years old.

“I have not seen my children grow,” Sanaseth, the second Christian to be released on bail of the seven wrongly convicted of killing a Hindu extremist leader, told Morning Star News between sobs.  “My six children were very young, with my youngest child, a girl, being 1-year-old, and my oldest, a boy, was 9 years old. Today the youngest is 12 and my oldest is 20. Nobody can give me back the years that I have lost.”

Sanaseth and the six other Christians were convicted in September 2013 of the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, whose death on Aug. 23, 2008 touched off anti-Christian attacks that killed 120 people, destroyed nearly 6,000 homes and displaced 55,000 Christians. Now 47, Sanaseth was released on bail on July 27, two months and six days after fellow convict Gornath Chalanseth was bailed out on May 21.

“I faced a lot of hardships in jail – I thank God for this freedom,” Sanaseth said. “I trusted God would bring me out one day.”

Because the Supreme Court issued the release on bail, he does not have to return unless the high court itself so orders.

Concerns over charity spending should be a reminder to churches

The Charity Commission, who regulate the charity sector, revealed on Thursday that only around half of charities meet the standards required for external scrutiny and they will be now applying a benchmarkfor basic scrutiny.

It called the findings “concerning”, with failings including incomplete reporting of transactions to auditors and saying it “raises additional concerns that the failure by trustees to manage conflicts of interest is also being under-reported.”

Trustees of registered charities are required to have an external scrutiny of their accounts if they have a gross annual income of over £25,000 in the financial year. The external scrutiny must be either an independent examination or an audit.

The charity Stewardship encourages giving among believers to Christian causes and help churches monitor their finances.

Stewardship’s chief generosity officer, Daniel Jones, told Premier’s News Hour the Charity Commission’s worries were “a timely reminder for both churches and charities that it’s important to make sure we know where our money is going to.

“But also for donors, to say ‘do I know where my money is going to and, if I want to know more about where my money is going to, how can I go and find out more about what the charity or church is doing with with the money that I give?'”

Other problems common among low income organisations were incorrectly labelled…

Hospital Forced Catholic Nurse to Assist with Abortion, Trump HHS Says

Hospital Forced Catholic Nurse to Assist with Abortion, Trump HHS Says

The Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services issued a formal notice Wednesday against a government-funded Vermont hospital, alleging it violated federal law by forcing a Catholic nurse to assist with an abortion.

The department’s Notice of Violation against the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) threatens the loss of federal funding if the hospital fails to conform its policies with the so-called Church Amendments, which were enacted in the 1970s and protect the conscience rights of individuals and entities that object to abortion.

The UVMMC nurse filed a complaint on May 9, 2018. An investigation by the department’s Office for Civil Rights found that the medical center “forced the nurse complainant to assist in an abortion against the nurse’s religious or moral objection,” according to an HHS news release.

“The nurse had expressed an objection for many years and was included in a list of objectors, but UVMMC knowingly assigned the nurse to an abortion procedure,” HHS said. “The nurse was not told the procedure was an abortion until the nurse walked into the room, when the doctor – knowing the nurse objected to assisting in abortions – told the nurse, ‘Don’t hate me.’ The nurse again objected, and other staff were present who could have taken the nurse’s place, but the nurse was required to assist with…

Church of Scotland joins criticism of Johnson’s suspension of parliament and no deal Brexit

Boris Johnson has asked the Queen if parliament can remain closed after the party conference season, which is around 13th September – 8th October, right up until the Queen’s speech on 14th October.

The House will return on Tuesday 3rd September for around 3-7 working days, with the House rising again at between 9th and 12th September.

On Wednesday, the move was criticised by 25 Church of England bishops, who said it did not respect parliamentary sovereignty and raised their personal concerns over a no deal Brexit.

The Church of Scotland (a separate denomination to the Church of England) has now added its voice to the matter.

Rev Dr Richard Frazer, convener of the Church and Society Council of the Church of Scotland, said: “We are deeply concerned to learn of proposals to suspend the Westminster parliament for several weeks during a crucial period before the UK’s planned departure from the EU.

“Given the current context, this is not an act of good faith and undermines, rather than upholds, parliamentary democracy.”

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the leader of the House of Commons, said on Thursday that Mr Johnson’s choice was not undemocratic and that outrage was “phoney”.

Rev Dr Richard Frazer added: “The Church of Scotland has repeatedly stated that Brexit is, and remains, a divisive issue and that leaving the EU without a deal would have a damaging, long-term impact on…

Over 100,000 Attend Harvest Crusade at Angel Stadium

Over 100,000 Attend Harvest Crusade at Angel Stadium

Pastor Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusade in Anaheim, CA drew over 100,000 people this past weekend. According to a tweet from Laurie, 8,670 people professed faith in Christ during the three-day event.

28,000 attended the first night of the crusade at Angel Stadium. Saturday night saw a crowd of 34,000 and 38,000 came to worship on the final night. 3,895 people said they accepted Jesus on Sunday night, CBN News reports.

Laurie pointed the assembled crowd to Christ each night saying, “Don’t put your faith in technology. Don’t put your hope in material things. Don’t put your hope in politicians. Don’t put your hope even in religion.” He continued, “Hope has a name, and it’s Jesus Christ, and he is here with us tonight, and he is ready to change the course of your life.”

Laurie held his first crusade 30 years ago. Reflecting on the anniversary, he told the Orange County Register, “George H.W. Bush was president. ‘Pretty Woman’ was in the theaters. And the closest thing to a tweet was a bird in the backyard.” During that 30-year stretch, So-Cal Harvest has drawn over 6 million people and over 500,000 have professed faith in Jesus.

Despite changes in technology and worship styles, Laurie said he preaches the same message: “Come and listen to what Jesus said because it could change your life.” He explained how he focuses on this simple message, saying,…

Vietnamese family ‘brutally attacked’ for converting to Christianity

The family of three, were forcibly removed from their home in a village in Northern Vietnam.

They were then beaten, and the six-year-old daughter was beaten so badly she fell into a coma for a month. She has now regained consciousness but does not recognise her parents or remember the incident.

The family had recently stopped the village practice of ancestor worship and become Christians. The local authorities and the whole village had reportedly become angry with their decision to change their religion.

Refusing to deny their faith, the villagers carried out attacks, Open Doors said the family were, “mocked, tied with ropes and severely beaten while being dragged over rocky ground towards the entrance of the village, forcing them to leave.”

Members of their church took them to a nearby hospital where they were treated for three days.

The family has returned to their home and village, after their pastor talked to local authorities to allow them back, however villagers are still threatening and “cursing” them because of their newfound faith.

Vietnam ranks 20 on the Open Doors World Watch List of where it is most difficult to be a Christian. The Communist government in Vietnam monitors Christian activity and exercises a high level of pressure on all Christians.

Beto O’Rourke Backs Abortion until Birth: ‘That’s a Decision for the Woman’

Beto O’Rourke Backs Abortion until Birth: ‘That’s a Decision for the Woman’

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke this week again endorsed third-trimester abortion up until the moment of birth – and then doubled down on his answer via social media.

Speaking at a campaign event at the College of Charleston Monday, O’Rourke was asked by a person in the crowd, “You were at a town-hall meeting just like this in Cleveland and someone asked you specifically about third-trimester abortions, and you said that’s a decision left up to the mother. I was born Sept. 8, 1989, and I want to know if you think on Sept. 7, 1989, my life had no value.”

Initially, O’Rourke sided with the questioner, who presumably is pro-life.

“Of course, I don’t think that and, of course, I’m glad that you’re here,” O’Rourke said.

But then O’Rourke said his position on the issue had not changed.

“You reference my answer in Ohio, and it remains the same,” he said. “This is a decision that neither you, nor I, nor the United States government should be making. That’s a decision for the woman to make. … I don’t question the decisions that a woman makes.”

The Cleveland event in question took place in March when O’Rourke also was asked about late-term abortions.

“Are you for third-trimester abortion?” a woman asked in March. “Are you gonna protect the lives of third-trimester babies? Because there’s…

Archbishop talks about Christian unity in Sri Lanka

The Most Rev Justin Welby visited St Sebastian’s Church in the seaside town of Negombo just after arriving for a three-day visit to the country.

More than 100 people died in the attack on the church in Negombo, which is known as The Little Rome due to its dense Catholic population.

A total of 263 people were killed when seven suicide bombers from a local Muslim group attacked three churches and three luxury hotels on April 21, in the worst violence by the Islamic State group-linked militants in South Asia.

Quoting a sermon by Pope Francis’s personal preacher delivered to the Queen years ago, Mr Welby said: “When they come to kill us do they ask if we are Christians or Pentecost or Presbyterian or Catholic? They ask only if we are Christian.

“So when on Easter morning I heard of the terrible events in this church and other places in Sri Lanka, we knew that our sisters and brothers have been killed and wounded and we kept silence and prayed for you.”

Mr Welby was welcomed by the Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.

He knelt and bowed down on the glass-covered tiled floor where the suicide bomber set off the explosives at Easter Mass. The pockmarked area is preserved as a memorial.

Mr Welby is also expected to meet Sri Lanka’s PM Ranil Wickremesinghe and preside over a service in an Anglican cathedral in Colombo.
