Due to her advanced age and religious activities, an elderly widow in California has been reportedly forced out of her apartment.

Eighty-five-year-old Diana Martin had lived in her apartment in Hanford for almost 14 years. Earlier this year, the owner and city’s vice-mayor, John Draxler, told her she was being evicted for sharing her faith and offering to pray for people. In follow up conversations, he also added that her age contributed to her eviction.

Despite knowing that her rent was fully paid and that she had nowhere to go, Draxler still told her to leave. According to CBN News, “when [Martin] started to cry, protesting that it was winter and she had no children living nearby, Draxler reportedly told her that was not his problem.” She has since moved out.

When Martin moved in over a decade ago, the complex had been advertised to senior living dwellers. But, in recent years, management changed and invited younger people, removing as many older residents as possible, including Martin.

Draxler also told Martin that he believed she was “combative” with management when she fought to keep her parking space. She was being reassigned to another one far from her door and next to a dumpster. She was concerned about her safety with homeless men often near the dumpster and believed this reassignment was an attempt to push her out.

In response to a tweet by a Catholic bishop, The Viewco-host Sunny Hostin said she knows Jesus would attend a pride parade “with pride,” further contending that “being at a pride parade would be much safer for a child than it has been to be in a Catholic church for many years.” 

Over the weekend, Bishop Thomas Tobin from Rhode Island tweeted admonitions about upcoming pride parades.

“A reminder that Catholics should not support or attend LGBTQ ‘Pride Month’ events held in June,” the tweet read. “They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals. They are especially harmful for children.” 

As a Catholic, Sunny had a different view. “This practicing Catholic will be supporting and attending LGBTQ Pride events. And so will my Catholic children. You should be ashamed,” she tweeted.

While on air Monday, Hostin voiced her opinion that her faith is contrary to anti-gay views. “My faith always taught me, ‘What would Jesus do?’ And I know Jesus would attend that Pride Parade,” she said.

New York’s legislature passed a bill banning the declawing of cats Tuesday – four months after the same body approved a bill permitting abortion of a human unborn baby up to the moment of birth.

The irony wasn’t lost on pro-lifers. 

“Cats soon could have more protections under New York state law than unborn babies,” Micaiah Bilger of LifeNews.com wrote. 

Katie Pavlich, a Fox News contributor and Townhall.com editor, tweeted, “In New York, you may not be able to declaw your cat, but abortion of a baby up until the day of birth is fine.” 

Writer Ryan Saavedra of Daily Wire tweeted: “New York: Legalizes abortion up until the moment of birth. Also New York: Don’t you dare declaw your cats!” 

New York would become the first state to ban declawing, a procedure that some animal rights activists say is tantamount to amputation. The bill passed the Assembly and Senate. Democrats control both chambers.

For the 75^th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy, 97-year-old D-Day veteran Tom Rice returned to the battlefield where thousands of his comrades laid down their lives all those years ago.

On June 6, 1944, thousands of brave men invaded the beaches of Nazi-occupied, Normandy, France. The invasion reigned victorious for the allies, ultimately paving the way for the Allied forces to take the Western front, but the victory came with the high cost of human lives. It is estimated that more than 4,000 Allied troops were killed in the Normandy landings on that fateful day.

Rice, however, escaped death’s grip, and for the first time in 75 years, the airborne soldier returned to the battlefield this week.

Just outside of Carentan, in a tandem jump, Rice, surrounded by hundreds of fellow parachutists, jumped out of a C-47 transport plane and landed in a field of wildflowers, the Associated Press reports.

“Beautiful drive, beautiful jump, beautiful flight. Everything was perfect,” the D-Day veteran told camera crews at the jump.

Rice recalled that the day of his jump during combat did not go as smoothly. He told the AP that it was “the worst jump I ever had.”
