‘The Word of God Began to Change Me’: Gay Man Finds Jesus, Marries a Woman

‘The Word of God Began to Change Me’: Gay Man Finds Jesus, Marries a Woman

A man who was formerly involved in a homosexual lifestyle has spoken openly of his miraculous conversion. Incredibly, after he found Christ, Brian Wheelock was taken on a miraculous journey of renewal and, eventually, ended up marrying a woman.

Speaking to a crowd at the Freedom March in Washington D.C., Wheelock talked candidly about his former life, declaring that Christ set him free from sexual sin in a profound and powerful way.

“I lived that life for at least ten years, and it was a crazy time in my life,” he said of his former life embroiled in homosexual relationships. “Those feelings were real. I spent a lot of time in relationships and you know what, that’s who I was, it was my identity.”

Speaking with great courage, Wheelock said that he “thought he was free” at the time. Soon, however, he realized that was becoming increasingly depressed and was overcome with a dreadful sense of emptiness.

“The more immersed, and the more I lived that life, to me it was empty, and just began to be a place of depression for me – where I just wasn’t fulfilled,” he said, according to the Christian Institute.

It was only when Brian traveled to the United Kingdom that he was confronted with his need to change. Sinking into a pit of depression and despair, he sought God. “I felt God was telling me ‘Brian, this is not my best for you. Brian, I…

Resurrection of Jesus – scholars examine the evidence

Did Jesus Rise From the Dead?

We all wonder what will happen to us after we die. When a loved one dies, we long to see him or her again after our turn comes. Will we have a glorious reunion with those we love or is death the end of all consciousness?

Jesus taught that life does not end after our bodies die. He made this startling claim: “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again.” According to the eyewitnesses closest to him, Jesus then demonstrated his power over death by rising from the dead after being crucified and buried for three days. It is this belief that has given hope to Christians for nearly 2000 years.

But some people have no hope of life after death. The atheistic philosopher Bertrand Russell wrote, “I believe that when I die I shall rot, and nothing of my own ego will survive.”[1] Russell obviously didn’t believe Jesus’ words. .. read more

‘Pray for employment in the area’

The closure of the 40-year-old engine plant, which employs 1,700 staff has insisted that falling demand for petrol cars is to blame and not Brexit.

The Bishops’ Adviser for Church and Society in the Church in Wales, Canon Carol Wardman told Premier the impact will be felt in the whole community.

Speaking during Premier’s News Hour, she said: “It’s a major blow. South Wales is an area that’s been hugely affected by industrial decline.

“We’ve had British Steel originally then Tata cutting back there.

“Of course a lot of people were employed in the coal mining industry, which of course has pretty much disappeared, and now this news. So, it is a major blow for the area.”

The US carmaker has been accused by the Unite union of breaking “promise after promise” to the UK.

Unite general secretary Len McCluskey said: “Ford’s decision to shut its Bridgend engine plant in 2020 is a grotesque act of economic betrayal.

David Jones/PA Wire

“These workers and this community have stayed faithful to Ford, as have UK customers – this is still Ford’s largest European market – through thick and thin, but have been treated disgracefully in return by this company.

“Ford broke promise after promise to the UK. First, it was that it would build 500,000 engines at Bridgend. That fell to a quarter of a million, then fell again and again.

“The company has deliberately…

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Declines to Pay Reparations to Historically Black College

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Declines to Pay Reparations to Historically Black College

Kentucky’s Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has declined a request to make a “biblical tithe” of its $100 million endowment to a nearby historically black college as reparations for the seminary’s past ties to slavery and racism.

The request was made by EmpowerWest Louisville, a coalition of urban black and suburban white congregations, according to Baptist News Global. The request was made on behalf of Simmons College and follows the December 2018 release of the internal investigation, “Report on Slavery and Racism in the History of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.”

The 72-page report, commissioned by Seminary President Al Mohler and conducted by SBTS faculty, recounted Southern Seminary’s history of slavery and racism. The report made note of the institution’s slave-holding founders, a $50,000 donation made by a slave-owning benefactor, and faculty members who defended segregation in the early 20th century.

“We must repent of our own sins, we cannot repent for the dead,” Mohler said at the time of the report’s release, according to the Christian Post. “We must, however, offer full lament for a legacy we inherit, and a story that is now ours.”

EmpowerWest used a petition by faith leaders to request Southern “transfer a meaningful portion of its financial wealth” to Simmons. Such a transfer would…

Bishop calls for housing re-think

According to Christian charity Housing Justice, the number of people sleeping rough across England has increased by 165 per cent since 2010.

Bishop Rob Wickham has dedicated 20 years of service to the homeless and was recently appointed as Chair of Housing Justice.

He said the attitude towards housing needs to be readdressed.

“When we see homelessness, or substandard housing as something which is accepted in a society, we have missed the point,” he said.

“Housing has been, for too long, a commodity to be used for personal gain or profit.

“Houses are not purely economic units, but need to be places of liveability and flourishing.”

Bishop Rob said he believes Christians have an opportunity to “shape the housing landscape”.

Last year, Housing Justice provided over £220,000 in grants to community projects supporting rough sleepers and moving people into settled accommodation.

Bishop Rob added: “I long to see a Britain where night shelters are not needed, but in the current period of time, Christians are stepping up and supporting, loving and cherishing those with no home, for whatever reason.

“Our night shelters are needed now more than ever.”

Officials Destroy Christian School, Hostel – and Founder’s Home – in Eastern India

Officials Destroy Christian School, Hostel – and Founder’s Home – in Eastern India

NEW DELHI, June 6, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Authorities seized 12 tearful, fatherless children from a Christian ministry in eastern India last month after local officials demolished the ministry’s school and hostel, sources said.

After Hindu extremists persuaded the district collector to demolish the hostel and school serving 250 students, child protection personnel and police on May 21 seized the six orphans and six other children whose fathers were killed by communist guerrillas known as Naxalites, said Vijay Kumar Pusuru, who founded the school near the village of Lichapeta in Odisha state.

“The children wept bitterly and pleaded, not wanting to depart,” Pusuru told Morning Star News. “They caught hold of branches and trees. But ruthlessly they were snatched and taken away.”

The children and Pusuru’s family were living under a tree due to the destruction of their home along with the hostel on May 13. The 44-year-old Pusuru said the school, about 40 miles south of Malkangiri in the forests of Malkangiri District, is the only one in a radius of 62 miles (100 kilometers) providing English-language education.

The district collector sent 50 people to demolish the school and hostel, which housed 100 children, along with Pusuru’s house, after a local leader of the Hindu extremist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) began to spread…

Bishop defends actions after suggestion he told vicar to leave Church over transgender complaint

John Parker, a clergyman in the Diocese of Chelmsford, recently left his position as a school governor at a C of E primary school because of the school’s handling of a child’s gender transition.

A child in the school changed gender and members of staff and the school governors were given training by the organisation Mermaids, who said gender was like a dimmer switch and not an on-off light switch.

Rev Parker was unhappy that the matter was not discussed in advance of the transition and that he felt there had been no time made for talking about safeguarding nor the morality of it in a Christian school.

He said in a statement a week ago that leaving was his own decision but also suggested the Bishop of Chelmsford had implied he should leave the denomination.

Rev Parker wrote: “This situation, in its entire disregard for the Christian children and parents in the school, and those of other faiths and philosophies, presented the clearest possible instance of what Bishop Stephen had previously told me – that my Biblical views on sexuality were not welcome in the Church of England and that I ‘could leave'”.

On Tuesday, Rt Rev Stephen Cottrell issued a statement saying: “John Parker and I have always had a warm relationship and I was sad to receive his letter or resignation. I certainly did not, as has been claimed, ask or imply that he should leave the Church of England…

Israel Works to Stop U.S. from Officially Supporting the Two-State Solution

Israel Works to Stop U.S. from Officially Supporting the Two-State Solution

The Israeli government is working hard to stop the United States from passing a resolution that would endorse a two-state solution to the decades-old Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The resolution, which has been put forward by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen, is expected to be tabled soon despite Israel’s increasingly firm opposition. Indeed, behind the scenes, the Middle Eastern nation is doing everything in its power to stop the resolution from going any further.

According to Axios, a team of Israeli embassy officials – led by Ambassador Ron Dermer – has been lobbying Graham and Van Hollen in an attempt to have the words “two-state solution” removed from the text.

The Israeli diplomats have made it clear to the United States that they would be quite satisfied with a general resolution that sets forth plans for talks between the two sides, as long as it doesn’t commit to a “two-state” solution as a final conclusion to the conflict.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has backtracked on his support for a two-state solution since President Trump, one of the most prominent pro-Israel presidents in U.S. history, took office.

During the latest Israeli election cycle, Netanyahu suggested that he would “apply Israeli sovereignty” and “extend Israeli law” to all the West Bank settlements, which he hoped would be…

Cardinal child sex abuse convictions should stand say prosecuters

Cardinal George Pell is the most senior Catholic to be convicted of child sex abuse and is appealing those guilty verdicts in the Victoria state Court of Appeal.

Prosecutor Chris Boyce told the three judges on Thursday that the convictions largely based on the testimony of a single accuser should stand.

“The complainant was a very compelling witness,” he said.

“He was clearly not a liar, not a fantasist.”

A jury unanimously convicted Pope Francis’ former finance minister in December of orally raping a 13-year-old choirboy and indecently dealing with the boy and the boy’s 13-year-old friend in Melbourne’s
St Patrick’s Cathedral in December 1996.

Pell had become archbishop of Melbourne only months before.

One of the boys, now in his 30’s, is the key prosecution witness.

The other died or a heroin overdose in 2014, apparently without ever alleging he had been abused.

Pell was also convicted of an act of indecency against the complainant by squeezing his genitals as they passed in a cathedral corridor in early 1997.

Mr Boyce said the complainant spent more than eight hours in the witness box and underwent “searing” cross examination during Pell’s original trial in the Victoria County Court that ended with a deadlocked jury in September last year.

“If it was a fantasy, at some point you’d expect the cracks to appear,” he said.

A second jury convicted Pell after watching a…
