NBA star Stephen Curry says in the latest episode of Facebook’s Stephen vs The Game that he became a Christian at a young age and that he writes a Bible verse on his sneakers to remind him of “who I’m playing for.”

It’s part of the fifth episode in the series and titled simply, “Faith.” 

The Golden State Warriors guard says he learned early in life he couldn’t live off his parents’ faith. He was saved in the eighth grade while listening to a youth pastor named Jason, he said. 

“I felt the calling, went down to the altar [and] gave my life to Christ. That became the beginning of my own personal journey,” he said. “I think my faith is about the personal relationship more so than the following a certain religious tradition, a religious practice.”

It’s important, he said, to “make sure you’re feeding your spirit with the right things versus what this world is throwing at us.” He called it a “constant, constant battle.” 

“It’s only that much more serious because I have three kids that are going to be watching every move that we make,” he said.

Hollywood producer and investor Peter Chernin has started a campaign to raise millions of dollars fighting anti-abortion laws in Georgia, calling on other media moguls to join him.

“I am launching a campaign to contribute to the $15 million that is needed to fund the A.C.L.U.’s legal efforts to battle the national anti-abortion effort,” Mr. Chernin wrote in an email last week, referring to the American Civil Liberties Union. The email, according to the New York Times, was sent to all of the executives of the major movie studios, as well as Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook and Shonda Rhimes.

Having already given $1 million, Chernin believes he has “a moral responsibility to act immediately.”

As Christian Headlines previously reported, in recent weeks, Georgia has applied heavy pressure against abortion, signing one of the most restrictive pro-life bills in the country on May 7. Should it take effect in January 2020, the bill would prohibit abortions after a heartbeat is detected.

President Trump ruffled feathers on both sides of the political aisle when he tweeted his support for LGBT Pride Month.

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 5, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Police have banned evangelistic events in a town in western Uganda following open-air preaching in which many Muslims put their faith in Christ, sources said.

Churches in Bwera, on Uganda’s western border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, held a joint evangelistic event amid the large Muslim population in Bwera beginning on May 20. The success of the event led not only to the ban but to church leaders receiving death threats, pastors said.

“Tomorrow we are coming to kill all of you during the open air crusade,” read one text message to a church leader a day after several Muslims put their faith in Christ on May 20.

Police halted the event, which was supposed to continue until May 26, on May 25.

On the first day, several former Muslims spoke at the open-air meeting, the church leaders said.

“Jesus changed my life when I acknowledged him as my Lord and being the Son of the most high God,” one former sheikh (Muslim teacher) testified.

This testimony touched many people, and large numbers showed up the following day, many of them putting their faith in Christ, church leaders said. In all, 35 Muslims put their faith in Christ.

A former drug addict who found himself in the throes of suicidal depression has come to Jesus and been baptized. Just two months ago, 27-year-old Jacob Palmer was readying himself to jump off a bridge in Virginia Beach, VA, after his life was left in tatters from years of drug and alcohol addiction.

Then, a good Samaritan stepped in and helped convince him that his life was still worth living and that there was a God who loved him. 

It was midnight on April 25 when passerby Colin Dozier spotted Palmer leaning over the side of Lesner Bridge and immediately felt God leading him to stop and help. 

“I just got called,” he told WTKR3. “That’s the only explanation I can even explain. God called me to go to the bridge.”

After Dozier alerted the police and began to try and engage Palmer, the drug addict, who was high on cocaine, meth and heroin at the time, began to act erratically and even threatened to kill both Dozier and the responding police officers.

Dozier immediately sought the Lord for help, sharing a scripture verse from the book of Jeremiah with the suicidal man:
