Student Caught on Camera Stealing Pro-Lifers Sign Is Shocked She Gets Arrested

An abortion advocate has been arrested for stealing the sign of a pro-life campaigner. The incident took place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after a number of pro-lifers gathered for a demonstration as part of an event sponsored by the “Created Equal” organization.

As is often the case in these situations, emotions were running high and counter-protesters began to confront the pro-lifers. One girl, however, took things a little further than polite dialogue, deciding that it was appropriate to steal the group’s property. Unfortunately for her, she was spotted by a police officer and summarily arrested, but not before being schooled on the protection of first amendment rights.

Dismayed and outraged by the fact that her actions had consequences, the pro-abortion campaigner pleaded with the officer, insisting that she had only “moved” the sign rather than stolen it. She added that the sign “restricts women’s rights,” seemingly attempting to justify her criminal behavior.

But this officer wasn’t having any of it. “You stole his sign,” he said, “you’re not going anywhere.” The cop then rightly explained that the pro-life community should be endowed with the same constitutional rights as anybody else.

“This is a public display,” he said. “They have a right to be here. If you don’t like their speech, you can go…

Christian charity calls for reality TV rethink, says Jeremy Kyle exploits needy people

63-year-old Steven Dymond reportedly took his own life before the episode he featured in had been broadcast, resulting in ITV’s decision to permanently cancel the show.

In a statement, ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall said: “Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show.”

ThinkTwice’s founder Rachael Newham has argued that both TV producers and consumers need to consider the health implications of reality TV.

Speaking to Premier she said: “I think a lot of people who went on that show, did so to get answers they needed, but I think the way it was conducted exploited them.”

“The pulling of The Jeremy Kyle show should be a catalyst actually to look at the way people are treated on TV and what we view as entertainment and as the public how we consume media.”

Speaking during mental health awareness week Rachael has said the death of Mr Dymond highlights the need for better mental health provision in the UK.

“It’s important that we don’t look down on people because they need help and instead try and create a culture where it’s acceptable to ask for help.

“But also a challenge that there needs to be places that people can access the get the help they desperately need.”

ITV has extended its thoughts and sympathies to Steven’s family and friends.

Student-Led Petition Bans Porn on The Catholic University of America Campus

Student-Led Petition Bans Porn on The Catholic University of America Campus

Last month, members of The Catholic University of America’s Student Government Association Senate passed a resolution to ban 200 of the most popular pornography sites from the university’s network, according to CBN News.

A senior, Joseph Enzler, at the private university got the idea while reading an article about the University of Notre Dame’s policy to not ban pornography. After doing research, Enzler was shocked to realize that The Catholic University had the same policy. He wanted to change that.

He started by searching for a software program that could block pornography and discovered that a ban like this had been attempted before but failed. “I knew we could do this,” Enzler told The College Fix

It was in an encounter at a lunch event with the university’s president, John Garvey, that furthered Enzler’s cause. Garvey supported the ban, as well as the president’s chief of staff, Lawrence Morris.

Enzler next needed his peer’s support, so he started a petition, receiving 400 signatures from students. Student Senator Gerard McNair-Lewis followed the petition with a resolution and submitted to the student government.

The Senate was initially split, but the vice president eventually broke the tie, setting the ban in motion.

“Our students asked President Garvey to block the top 200 porn sites, and he told them that he’d be…

Alabama bans abortion in almost all cases including rape, UK church urged by some to take note

The Republican-led Senate voted 25-6 in favour of the law on Tuesday, which will need to be approved by the state governor, Kay Ivey, before being put into practice.

The Senate is made up of 27 Republicans and eight Democrats currently and if signed into law by Republican Ms Ivey, the bill would take effect in six months.

It would mean that any doctor who supplies and performs an abortion would be punishable with a sentence of between 10 and 99 years in prison. The mother would not be punished.

Pro-life campaigners are hoping that it will be challenged and taken to the Supreme Court to potentially overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark case that made abortion a legal right in the US in 1973.

Katie Brookfield, a Christian and researcher on sexual ethics in the church told Premier she disagreed with the Alabama law change, saying: “The reality is that making abortion illegal does not end abortion, it only drives it underground where it’s extremely dangerous and therefore it’s only going to end safe abortions.

“The places that have the strictest laws on abortion actually have the highest abortion rate. So, for example, in El Salvador, it’s completely illegal and it’s got higher rates than in the US and I think, as a Christian as well, I find that abortion and unplanned pregnancy is a reality of an imperfect and broken world.

“I don’t believe that any woman wishes to be…

Arthur Becomes 1st PBS Cartoon with a Gay Wedding – ‘It’s a Brand-New World’

Arthur Becomes 1st PBS Cartoon with a Gay Wedding – ‘It’s a Brand-New World’

Parents who thought PBS Kids cartoons were a neutral space in the debate over LGBT issues may want to reconsider.

The popular PBS Kids series Arthur broke new ground Monday by inserting a same-sex wedding into the plot, as Arthur and his friends learn their male teacher, Mr. Ratburn, is marrying a man.

The episode, “Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone,” was part of a week of new shows for the series, which debuted in 1996 and follows Arthur, a third-grade aardvark, as he plays and learns about life in the town of Elwood City.

It is the first-ever gay wedding in a PBS children’s cartoon, according to those who follow the issue.

The wedding angle is key to the plot. Early in the show, Mr. Ratburn is seen talking on the phone to a wedding planner.

“Who’s getting married?” a student asks after he hangs up.

“Me,” Mr. Ratburn answers.

Arthur and his friends, though, falsely believe Mr. Ratburn is marrying a woman named Patty, who they consider to be mean. They set a goal of stopping the wedding.

But when the wedding day arrives – with the students in attendance – they are shocked to learn Patty is not the bride.

Whois Mr. Rathburn marrying?” one of the students asks.

Viewers then see Mr. Ratburn walking down the aisle with another man, Patrick, arm in arm. Patrick winks at the kids. Arthur smiles. The…

Church leaders question new definition of Islamophobia

A number have added their names to those from other religious organisations in an open letter to home secretary Sajid Javid.

The definition, which has been proposed by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on British Muslims is: “Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.”

It’s been adopted by the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats Federal board, Plaid Cymru and the Mayor of London and the government will soon decide whether to take it on board.

The main concern is whether those who criticise Islam could fall foul of the new definition.

The letter, which has been signed by former chaplain to the Queen Rt Rev Dr Gavin Ashenden and former Bishop of Rochester Rt Rev Michael Nazir Ali, states: “This vague and expansive definition is being taken on without an adequate scrutiny or proper consideration of its negative consequences for freedom of expression, and academic and journalistic freedom.

“The definition will also undermine social cohesion – fueling the very bigotry against Muslims which it is designed to prevent.

“We are concerned that allegations of Islamophobia will be, indeed already are being, used to effectively shield Islamic beliefs and even extremists from criticism, and that formalising this definition will result in it being employed effectively as something of a backdoor…

Former Pastor Who Repeatedly Raped His Adoptive Daughter Is Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison

Former Pastor Who Repeatedly Raped His Adoptive Daughter Is Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison

A former pastor was sentenced to 12 years in prison for repeatedly raping his adopted teenage daughter.

According to Knoxville News Sentinel, a Knox County judge sentenced David Lynn Richards, Jr. – former pastor at My Father’s House Church of God in Lenoir City – to only 12 years in prison despite being found guilty of nine felony counts, including rape, incest and sexual battery by an authority figure.

Reportedly, prosecutors sought to sentence the 41-year-old to 72 years in prison, but many of the crimes he was accused of are only punishable by probation.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Richards maintained his innocence throughout the trial despite forensic tests matching DNA collected from bodily fluids on the teen’s bedframe to Richards.

Reportedly, Richards said that his adoptive daughter – Amber Richards – only accused him of rape because she is a defiant teenager who refused to submit to strict rules in the house.

During the trial, he testified, “I stand before you convicted of crimes I did not commit. I simply believe the system just erred in this case.”

He added, “I’m not sure why I’m here. … but I assume it’s for His purpose.”

Richards had a group of more than 30 people sitting on his side of the courtroom in support of him on Thursday. One person, David Thompson, who co-pastored My Father’s House…

Jeremy Hunt says politicians in developing countries should stop fanning hatred between religions

Jeremy Hunt was asked by Conservative MP Luke Hall what he learned from trips to countries like Nigeria about what more we can do, as a Government, to tackle the appalling persecution of Christians in the region.

Responding, Mr Hunt said: “I had a roundtable of faith leaders at the British high commissioner’s residence in Nigeria, and we had a very good discussion on this issue.

“The main thing that I took away from that discussion is the immensely important role that politicians have in developing countries in not fanning populism and hatred between religions in election campaigns, which is a very easy route to go down but can have immensely damaging consequences.”

He also agreed with Conservative MP Sir David Anthony Evennett that following the Bishop of Truro’s interim report on the persecution of Christians, the Government needs to be “even more public and more forceful in calling out persecution where it is identified”.

“We will obviously await the bishop’s final report,” Mr Hunt said.

“The concern we had, and the reason that we commissioned…
