Dear Reader,

Here we are again on another segment of family life. With the number of mails and testimonies I have received from readers, I believe that the Lord has been reaching out to you through His Word and putting new life into your homes. But if you are reading this column for the first time, by the time you are through, something new and thrilling would have happened to your family, in Jesus’ name.

Family life is very precious in the heart of Almighty God. He plainly reveals His interest in the family to us by making it the very first institution that was established after the creation of man. No wonder He said in Genesis 2:18, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him’.

It was also the instrument that God desired man to use in order to fulfil His first and foremost commandment to ‘Be fruitful and multiply … replenish … subdue … and have dominion…’ (Gen. 1:28). This means that the success of any man (or nation) would be tied to their family life.

It is, therefore, unfortunate that the family lives of many individuals are in shambles. Some have hit the rock, while others care less about their families. Satan himself has made the family his target for attack. Many individuals have their minds poisoned against their families. The issue of family to some others is dead and not to be revisited for any reason. Even some Christian families still struggle to keep their family life and fellowship alive; this is not God’s plan for your family!

Indeed, God’s plan for you is for your life and family to be alive and full of sparkle, joy and excitement. Even if the whole world is hostile to your existence, the thought of your family life and members should ease off the tension and stress confronting you. The Lord has designed the family to be a place of security, where you can be corrected when wrong and still be loved and appreciated at the same time. It is a place where you don’t have to stand alone (isolated), for ‘it is not good that man should be alone’. The family is where others are willing to stand by you and help you get on the right track in life. God’s Word makes it clear that new life is available for your family.

Family life doesn’t have to be a drag or a dead matter. As you learn more in this edition, your family will become a blissful one, in the mighty name of Jesus.

If you want to enjoy God’s plan for your family, the first thing you need to do is to understand and accept that family is of divine origin, not an earthly one. It is God that originated it. Whatever God establishes or sanctions is not to be taken lightly. Your family is not something you can afford to be indifferent about. You can’t say, ‘If everything is fine with my husband or wife, fine’. Or “If we are not on speaking terms then, I will just disappear from home.” Or “If my children pass their exams, I will give them a gift and if they don’t, it’s their mother’s fault.

You must be ready to make God the centre of your family life. If you are not ready for that, then enjoying a successful family life will only remain a dream to you and never a reality. Anyone who is not ready to mind God is definitely not ready to enjoy a blissful family, because the breath of God (His Word) will have no access to his (or her) home. Give God His rightful place and the attention that is required to your family. You do this by paying attention to His Word and obeying His instructions. And “When you have followed the Lord’s instructions, His glory will appear to you” (Lev. 9:6). For every instruction you obey, God’s glory begins to come into your home and family life. Your family shall be an example to other homes because of how bright each member appears spiritually, mentally, socially and physically.

Here is a touching testimony: ‘I have been married for over 12 years, but what I am enjoying now, I’ve never enjoyed since I got married. I thank God for His Word to me through you. You taught … and laid emphasis on wives being submissive to their husbands in everything, just like the church submits to Christ. My understanding opened and I told God, “Lord, from this day, I know that obedience is the key”. And ever since that day, I have been enjoying what all my fasting, binding and all couldn’t deliver to me. I thank God that now it’s like I am wedded anew. And just yesterday morning, to confirm God’s faithfulness in my home, my husband gave me a cheque for ₦100,000, which I cashed this morning. I now enjoy peace, love and harmony’.

– Adebayo, L.

The beginning of letting God have His rightful place is to be a born-again child of God. The Bible says, ‘And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge…’ (Ezekiel 22:30). God is looking for one person in your family that he would use to touch and affect the other members. And you are that person. If you want to be born again, then say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the blissful God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through [email protected], 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

Joyce Meyer Devotional 16 April 2019 — God’s Vision for You

Topic: God’s Vision for You [Joyce Meyer Devotional 16 April 2019]

Read Previous MESSAGES HERE

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,” says the LORD, “plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP)

God’s plan for the people of the nation of Israel was only for their good. Yet they wandered around in the wilderness for 40 years on what was actually an 11-day journey. Why? Was it their enemies, their circumstances, the trials along the way, or something entirely different that prevented them from arriving at their destination in a timely manner?

God called the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt to go to the land He had promised to give them as a perpetual inheritance—a land that flowed with milk and honey and every good thing they could imagine, a land in which there would be no shortage of anything they needed—a land of prosperity in every realm of their existence.

But the Israelites had no positive vision for their lives—no dreams. They knew where they came from, but they did not know where they were going. Everything was based on what they had seen in the past or what they could presently see. They did not know how to see with “the eye of faith.”

We really shouldn’t view the Israelites with astonishment because most of us do the same thing they did. We keep dealing with the same problems over and over again. The disappointing result is that it takes us years to experience victory over something that could have and should have been dealt with quickly.

I come from a background of abuse. My childhood was filled with fear and torment, and my personality was a mess! I built up walls of protection to keep people from hurting me, not realizing that while I was locking others out, I was also locking myself in. I was filled with fear and believed that the only way I could face life was to be in control so no one could hurt me.

As a young adult trying to live for Christ and follow the Christian lifestyle, I knew where I had come from, but I did not know where I was going. I felt that my future would always be marred by my past. I thought, How could anyone with a past like mine ever be all right? It’s impossible!

But Jesus had a different plan. He said, The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me . . . to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity] (Luke 4:18 AMPC).

Jesus came to open the prison doors and set the captives free—and that included me. However, I did not make any progress until I started to believe that I really could be set free. I had to get rid of my negative thinking and replace it with a positive vision for my life. I had to believe that neither my past nor my present could determine my future. Only then could Jesus free me from the bondage of my past—and free me, He did. What a marvelous miracle!

You may have had a miserable past; you may even be in current circumstances that are very negative and depressing. You may be facing situations that are so bad it seems you have no real reason to hope. But I say to you boldly: Your future is not determined by your past or your present!

Most of the generation the Lord called out of Egypt never entered into the Promised Land. Instead, they died in the wilderness. To me, this is one of the saddest things that can happen to a child of God—to have so much available and yet never be able to enjoy any of it.

Start believing that God’s Word is true. Mark 9:23 assures you that with God all things are possible. Because you serve a God who created everything you see out of the unseen realm (see Hebrews 11:3), you can give Him your nothingness and watch Him go to work on your behalf. All you have to do is have faith in Him and believe His Word—He will do the rest!

Prayer Starter: Dear Father, I thank You for loving me and having a vision—a good plan—for my life. I pray that You will help me overcome any negative thoughts of problems, past or present, that come against my mind, and make my life what You want it to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TOPIC: Choose Life

READ: John 18:28-40 King James Version (KJV)

28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

29 Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

30 They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

31 Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:

32 That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

39 But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

THE MESSAGE:

Jesus was taken from the Garden of Gethsemane to Annas and then to Caiaphas where selected members of the Sanhedrin gathered. False witnesses came forward to testify against Him. During the examination, no evidence was found against Him. But instead of dismissing Him, they proceeded to hold an illegal court where they condemned Jesus to death on the charge of blasphemy. They took Him to Pilate – the Roman governor where they changed their charge against Jesus from blasphemy to treason! Pilate examined Him and attempted to release Him because he knew that He was innocent, but the people pushed for His death. When given the opportunity to choose whom he should release to them, the Jews chose Barabbas a notorious prisoner, a robber, a rebel, a murderer! They chose to have a murderer and robber live among them than Jesus, the giver of life. Barabbas was set free but the King of glory was sentenced to die!

Today, the choice before us is the choice between eternal life and eternal death. Jesus offers eternal life but the world and its pleasures offer eternal death. You have a choice today. Choose Jesus Christ and you will reign eternally with Him in heaven. This choice begins with a humble confession of your sin and invitation of Christ into your life!

Prayer: Eternal God, give me grace to choose Christ today over and above all others.

Awesome Love by Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Dearly Beloved, I bring you greetings in the name that is above every other name, Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. It’s my joy to welcome you to another Sunday; the fact that you are still around is an indication that our God is a faithful God and His mercies are indeed new every morning. On this Sunday, which precedes the Easter, I just want to remind you of God’s love for you, and I want to encourage you to constantly bask in this awesome love, because therein lies the power of our faith.

John 3:16 (KJV) tells us “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” I highlighted the word “so” in the verse because it’s very key in our discussion. In trying to explain the extent of this amazing, awesome love, the word “so” had to be used, meaning the love is too much to be described. This is how much God loves you and me, oh what an awesome love.

“True love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. He sent his Son as the way to take away our sins.” (1John 4:10 ERV)

Beloved, how does this grab you? “True love is God’s love for us and not our love for God…” Meditate on this for a minute. God’s love for you is not dependent on your love for Him, He loves you whether you love Him or not. He loves you in spite of you. He loves you because He has chosen to love you, and that my friend is what True Love is. God’s love is True Love.

And because He loves us so much, so deeply, so recklessly, He sent His Son to come into this world, to die and pay the supreme price for our sins. Oh what an Awesome, Magnificent love!

Child of God, never believe the lie that God is mad at you, He is upset with you, No, God loves you and He demonstrated this love to you. Meditate on His love and let His awesome love overwhelm you.

Remember our Good Friday Service (Live Broadcast) themed “The Power of The Cross” holds this Friday April 19, 2019 at 9 a.m. in the Cathedral of His Glory, TREM International Headquarters Lagos. I am looking forward to seeing each and every one of you, as we come together to worship Jesus and bask in His love.

Maranatha!

In His Royal Service
Dr. Mike Okonkwo

MFM Daily Devotional 16 April 2019 – The Spirit of Persistence

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 16 April 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – The Spirit of Persistence

Click HERE for Previous MESSAGES by Pastor D.K. Olukoya

TOPIC: The Spirit of Persistence (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 16 April 2019)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 30-31; Luke 13:23-35

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 18:1-5

MEMORY VERSE: “And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.” – Mark 10:48

The MESSAGE:

In our walk with God as well as in our secular endeavours, one important quality that will make us succeed is persistence. It is the ability to keep working towards your goal in the face of difficulties and challenges. Champions and leaders in secular and spiritual spheres of life would tell you that persistence took them to the top and is the same force that is keeping them there.

What does it mean to Persist?

It means to be insistent i.e to hold fast and steadfast to a purpose despite obstacles, challenges or discouragement. It is to refuse to stop and insist on your goals. One of the wonderful spirits that every believer must possess is the the spirit of persistence. Nothing in life can take the place of persistence. Many believers give up too soon in the things that would have changed their story. In the book of Luke 19:62, the Bible says no man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Many Christians that were fervent in the Lord before suddenly turned back because they lack the spirit of persistence. Many believers that were at the edge of their breakthrough suddenly turned back because they lack the spirit of persistence.

It was the spirit of persistence that made the woman in our Fire Scripture to win the heart of that Judge who feared not God, neither regardeth man. Some people in the Bible became celebrity even when the world had completely written them off. Somebody like Hannah would have remained a barren woman but because she possessed the spirit of persistence, she became the mother of one of the greatest judges and prophets in the Bible. Elisha would have remained like the other sons of the prophets, but because of the spirit of persistence in him, he received the double portion of his master, Elijah’s spirit.

The spirit of persistence will help you not to miss the day of your visitation. It will help you to overcome the spirit of failure at the edge of breakthrough. It will help you not to fall in the day of adversity. It was the spirit of persistence that kept Bartimeus shout to Jesus for mercy and help, even when others were telling him to keep quite. The spirit of persistence got Bartimeus Jesus’ attention, the restoration of his sight and the change of his story.

Whatsoever that will bring sweetness will also bring sweat and whatsoever will bring gain will also cause pain. Beloved, endless laughter cannot just come without any challenge. When you say you are tired of coming to church, tired of fasting, praying and studying the word of God, the enemy is not tired of launching his attacks against you. Be persistent and the Lord shall see you through, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
YOU MAY ENCOUNTER MANY DEFEAT, BUT YOU MUST NOT BE DEFEATED.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Expected and unexpected breakthrough shall come to you.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. I will not give up at the edge of my miracles, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I will not miss the day of my visitation, in the name of Jesus.
  3. I will not miss my divine opportunities, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. Spirit of persistence, come upon me, in the name of Jesus.
  5. I will not give up, my enemies and challenges will give up, in the name of Jesus.
  6. O Lord, arise and change my story, in the name of Jesus.
  7. I will overcome the spirit of discouragement, in the name of Jesus.

DCLM Daily Manna 16 April 2019 – His Revelation

Topic: His Revelation [DCLM Daily Manna 16 April 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

View Previous MESSAGES by Pastor Kumuyi

Text: Exodus 24:1-11 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under His feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness” (Exodus 24:9,10).

MESSAGE:

A preacher wrote, “For the called, the vision of God is not destructive; it is safety and joy. We meet the unveiling not only of infinite holiness, but also of infinite love. The vision of divine glory was a wonder and delight and the place of vision became a place of feasting”.

In the text, there was preparation and separation before the vision of God could be seen. First, Moses alone came near to the Lord. He came back to reveal the words of the Lord. The people were made to know the requirement of God that would lead to the ratification of the covenant agreement with the Almighty. Their response was, “All the words which the LORD hath said will we do”. The sacrifices to bring the people nearer to God were the burnt offerings to signify the dedication of the people to Jehovah and the peace offering to show Jehovah’s reconciliation with the people. The covenant could not be ratified without the blood sprinkled on the altar of God and the people. The acceptance of this allowed the selected, separated and sanctified people to see the vision of God (Exodus 24:9,10).

The ultimate experience of the Christian is to be so Christ-like as to see the vision of God here on earth and be with Him in eternity. In like manner, to see the Lord, you must possess the following: genuine salvation, sanctification and a separated walk. “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 6:17,18; 7:1).

Thought For The Day: Behold the glory of Jesus and live.

Memorise: “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” – Hebrews 2:1

Read: Hebrews 2:1-4

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Bible In One Year: 1 Samuel 19-21, Luke 15:11-32

MESSAGE:

It is safe to say that we are to in the digital age. It has become a common sight to see phones in the hands of teenagers. It’s even a more common sight to see a teenager’s head bowed with rapt attention on the screen of his/her phone while something important like a sermon or a class is going on.

Our memory verse says we should “give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip”. The fact is, there are many important things going on around you,and you are at the stage where you need every positive thing you can lay your hands on to make your future a beautiful one.

Don’t get addicted to your phones or movies. Form the habit of listening through whatever conversation is going on around you without being distracted by your phone. Pay attention to your surroundings, listen attentively when people are speaking to you, particularly when a teaching is going on. Sometimes, teachers give some details or illustrations which might not be in the lesson note while teaching, only students who pay attention get it and interlude it. It is therefore expedient that you pay attention always.

Key Point:

Can you delete the social media app on your phone? If not, you are addicted and you need to break that addiction quickly.

Hymn 2:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Seeds of Destiny 16 April 2019 Devotional — Anointed By Commitment

Topic: Anointed By Commitment [Seeds of Destiny 16 April 2019 Devotional]

Click HERE for Previous MESSAGES by Pastor Paul Enenche

If God is not first in your life, your life is not in safety.

SCRIPTURE: I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: Psalms 89:20

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If God is not first in your life, your life is not in safety.

The word ‘commitment’ refers to devotion or dedication to a cause, person or relationship. A committed Christian is one who is donated for dedicated service to God, whether in ministry, industry, business or politics, and therefore, has become a natural candidate for the anointing of God.

Your personal devotional commitment to God determines God’s commitment to you. It will determine your fulfilment in this life and in the life to come. Your commitment to God also involves your personal prayer life, personal study of the Word and the knowledge of God.

When you are committed to God, you decide and pray to know God like Apostle Paul (Philippians 3:10). The Bible says that the people who do know their God, shall be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). When God sees you wake up in the morning like Abraham in Genesis 19:27 and before you do anything, you talk to Him first; He sees you searching concordances and Bible references and different translations, all in a bid to know Him more; then the devil that can forbid your fulfilment in life and frustrate God’s commitment to you has not been born.

Beloved, please note that if your priorities are not in order with God, your possibilities in God are not in view, and if God is not first in your life, your life is not in safety.

REMEMBER THIS: If God is not first in your life, your life is not in safety.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make a conscious effort to be committed to God in all areas of your life.
  2. Ask God for the grace to live for Him.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to be totally committed to You in prayer, worship and study of the Word. Help me Lord, in Jesus’ Name

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 11-13, Jeremiah 18:19-19:9

Open Heaven 16 April 2019 Tuesday MESSAGE:

One important thing about God that we must quickly learn as His children is the great power, authority and significance attached to His word. Psalm 138:2 tells us that God even magnifies His word above His Name. The enormity of this statement is amplified when you realise that His Name is above all other names in heaven and on earth. And that at the mention of His Name every knee must bow (Philippians 2:9-11). It is therefore not surprising that God only speaks whenever it is absolutely necessary, and His words are usually few and straight to the point. When God speaks to you, it better you pay close attention to every minute detail of His words. As partakers of His divine nature, God expects us to be like Him by going straight to the point whenever we have the opportunity of communicating with Him. Jesus manifested this desire in His interaction with people when He was with us here on earth. In today’s Bible reading, when Jesus asked the paralyzed man, who had been suffering for thirty-eight years, if he wanted to be healed, He expected an answer that was straight to the point, but what He got was a rambling speech. However, Jesus mercifully healed him.

Our lord Jesus Christ teaches us in Matthew 6:7 that prayers are not necessarily answered because of the multitude of words. God answers prayers based on His love for His children. Because of His grace, He gives us things we do not deserve, and He shields us from harmful desires through His mercy. When David was confronted with one of the most distressful situation of His life at Ziklag, he went straight to the point in his prayer to God in 1 Samuel 30:8, which says:

“And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”

After his conversation with God, David and his men went ahead to recover all that the enemy had carried away from them. There was not a single thing that was lost. I Prophesy into your life that before the end of this year, there shall be a recovery of everything you have lost in Jesus’ name. Is your health being invaded by sickness? Are you troubled every side? Is your source of income under such terrible attacks that it has become difficult to make ends meet? Is the ocean of life threatening the survival of your marriage? Are you struggling to maintain your relationship with God because of sinful demands at your place of work? Are you agitated because of the fear of the future? I decree the immediate release of the power of God to deal with all your problems and to give you all-round peace in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 16 April 2019 Tuesday Hymn 3: Trust And Obey

1 When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3 Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4 But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5 Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 18:19

As believers, you and I are part of a conquering army, constantly claiming new ground for the kingdom of God. Right?

Well, yes, that’s the way it should be. But just about the time the army tops the hill and is ready to advance, it seems that Satan pulls out his big gun—division—and scatters believers in every direction.

How can we strike back against the strategy of division? By launching an even more powerful attack of our own. By using one of the most powerful resources given us by the Lord Jesus: the prayer of agreement.

Jesus said that if any two of us would agree as touching anything we ask, it shall be done! That statement is so powerful that most people don’t really believe it. If they did, you’d find little groups of Christians huddled up in every corner agreeing together in prayer.

Find someone to agree with in prayer this week. Be sure to base what you pray on the Word of God. You may have differing opinions about everything else, but you can be in agreement about the Word.

Also, be sure your agreement is total—spirit, soul and body. Cast down arguments, theories and imaginations that are contrary to the Word. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Keep a watch over your thoughts and your words.

Then get your body in line by speaking the thing you’ve agreed on. Act like you’ve already received the answer. Don’t keep asking but thank God for it. Stay in agreement and take some new ground for the Lord!
