The colourful and vibrant pattern has been designed in memory of Sara Pilkington who died suddenly from a heart-related condition in February 2012.
Gaye Kirby, from Durham Cathedral said: “The piece seeks to capture Sara’s vibrant personality, her passion for learning and the special place that she held in her heart for Durham Cathedral.
“Seeing the window being installed is the culmination of many years of planning and we look forward to sharing the beauty of Mel’s artwork with our visitors in the coming weeks and months.”
Funded by Sara’s parents, Jonathan and Jools, the ‘Illumination Window’ has been created by West Sussex-based artist Mel Howse.
Mel said: “The installation process is in itself a beautiful one, as we begin to marry the glasswork with the golden sandstone walls of Durham Cathedral.
“You can imagine the intricacy of the work involved and the immense care that needs to be taken when embedding a 26-square-metre window into such a historical foundation, but it is a challenge that my team face with enthusiasm.
“Whilst the process is ongoing, Sara is at the forefront of my mind, as the driving force behind this entire project.”
The artwork, which is being installed in the north side of the cathedral, uses glass imported from Germany.

The blaze, which broke out in the kitchen of the Prayerhouse in Weymouth early in the morning, is being treated as a suspected arson attack. No one was hurt.
Pastor, Paul White told Premier: “We know that the church is not a building, but people.
“Although this is a very sad for us and a loss for the community, we have not lost hope. This will make us stronger and we will rise above the storm and continue to serve God and this community.

Museum of the Bible Announces New 2020 Exhibit on Science and the Bible
On Monday, the Museum of the Bible announced plans for a “large-scale, year-long temporary exhibit” that will explore important fundamental questions about life and creation through the lenses of both the Bible and science.
According to a Press release, the museum received “significant grants” from the John Templeton Foundation which will fund the project.
The exhibit, which will open in the summer of 2020, will use multimedia and artifacts both from the museum’s collection and from museums around the world to create a “thematic experience.” The exhibit, along with an accompanying educational program is being developed by the museum staff and an international advisory panel consisting of over a dozen scientists and scholars.
The goal of the exhibit, the Washington D.C. based Museum says, is to bridge the gap between religion and science.
“By exploring historical interactions between science and the Bible, this exhibition will shed light on contemporary debates and foster a greater understanding of the shared curiosity about our world that stimulates both scientific inquiry and biblical interpretation,” the press release reads.
The exhibit will seek to provide information about six questions that challenge the existence of life as we know it.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Wisdom of God shows you the correct light and action for the situation that will produce the right outcome.
Mountains are symbolic of obstacles and hindrances. They are obstacles and hindrances to vision and purpose. Mountains are age-long strongholds or challenges; they are trans-generational challenges and insurmountable obstacles.
They block progress and delay life’s journey. Mountains are challenges that occupy life and give a person minimal time to do something meaningful. They are destiny-limiting situations that limit the extent of the expression of one’s potentials and the fulfilment of one’s destiny. Mountains came to challenge purpose, hinder vision and frustrate the agenda of God for a person, a land or a generation. In our journey of life and destiny, there are mountains; there are obstacles; there are hindrances, oppositions and resistance.
Many people are confronted with mountains in one form or the other and it could be very stressful and challenging to be confronted with mountains.
From our anchor Scripture, we see that there is a grace to level mountains.
Now, what are some of the ways of accessing the grace to level mountains?
i. By Exercising Faith in God (Mark 11:22-23): Having faith in God is a mountain leveler. And faith in God is a strong conviction backed with forceful Word-based declarations. It is from the Word of God that you get the conviction to begin to speak to the mountains of your life.
ii. By Expressing the Wisdom of God (Job 28:9): Wisdom is the right insight plus the right action which results in the right outcome. The Wisdom of God shows you the correct light and action for the situation that will produce the right outcome.
iii. By Connection to the Presence of God (Isa. 64:1-3): The Presence of God does not only level mountains; the Presence of God melts mountains. The heavier the Presence of God you carry, the more mountains you can level.
Beloved, my counsel is, make up your mind to exercise absolute faith in God, express the wisdom of God and remain connected to His Presence in order to level every mountain of your life.

Ask God for the grace to surmount all mountains and obstacles in your life.

The latest airport to say “no” to the famous chicken sandwiches is the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, or more specifically, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA), which oversees the public facility.
The NFTA unveiled plans March 28 to open a Chick-fil-A at the Buffalo airport but backtracked the next day when several protests emerged, led by Democratic Assemblyman Sean M. Ryan of Buffalo. A week earlier, the San Antonio City Council blocked a Chick-fil-A from opening at the San Antonio International Airport.
“I don’t believe the leadership of the NFTA intends to help spread hate and discrimination, but allowing a corporation like Chick-fil-A to do business at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport will help to fund continued divisive anti-LGBTQ rhetoric,” Ryan told The Buffalo News. “New York is a welcoming state that celebrates diversity. The views of Chick-fil-A do not represent our state or the Western New York community, and businesses that support discrimination have no place operating in taxpayer-funded public facilities.”

Humanists UK warned people against yielding to “eggsaggeration” among Christian groups it says have been behind a “long line of attempts…to accuse others of sabotaging the ‘true Easter message'”.

13-Year-Old Boy Surprises His Single Mom with a Car
13-year-old William Preston bought his mom a car because well, he just wanted to help her out.
“He was tired of hearing me cry,” Krystal Preston, William’s mom, told ABC’s KOLO Newsnow.
The family of four had hit a rough patch and were making do without a car. Preston, an outgoing teenager, wanted to find a solution. He had seen people on YouTube surprising their moms with cars and he decided to do the same.
According to CBN News, he found a woman selling a cheap 1999 Chevrolet Metro on Facebook one day and reached out. “It was really cheap so I asked her if I could trade it for my Xbox or earn it, and at first she said no. And after she thought about it, then she said yes,” Preston said.
Krystal had no idea the gift was coming. “He kept coming into the room, asking me weird questions about cars and parts,” she said.
Shortly after, the seller picked up Krystal and William and drove her to her home to see the car, when Preston surprised her. “Mom, I got you a car.”
“I lost it, I bawled, I was just like, there’s no way,” Krystal said.
Preston’s selfless act has caused a ripple effect for his family. Krystal posted the story to Facebook, where it caught the attention of kind strangers who set up a GoFundMe page. In only three days, they have surpassed their $5000 goal with more donations coming in.
The recommendation was made in a new report published by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) on Tuesday, which followed four years of research involving C of E dioceses and dozens of abuse survivors.
In a statement the C of E told Premier: “The Church believes that retaining ownership and leadership of safeguarding in the diocese outweighs the benefits of making diocesan safeguarding advisers employed nationally.
“Dioceses must own and be responsible for safeguarding while acknowledging the importance of having a professional in the role.
“There are things in place to improve consistency – an escalation process to the national team if issues arise, professional support for diocesan safeguarding advisors etc.”
The SCIE said staff appointed by the Church of England’s 42 dioceses to oversee safeguarding (diocesan safeguarding advisors or DSAs) are currently answerable to their diocesan bishop.
The national body said appointing, managing and supervising the DSAs at a national level would “outweigh” the benefits of local ownership.
