Are Angels Just for Kids? – Kenneth Copeland Devotional 21 March 2019

Topic: Are Angels Just for Kids? [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 21 March 2019]

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? – Hebrews 1:14

Most of us heard about our guardian angel when we were just children. And, in those days, it was a comforting thought. With monsters lurking behind the closet door and creepy things crawling beneath the bed, it was good to know that someone was there to protect us when the light was out.

But, as the years passed, we outgrew our childhood fears. The imaginary creatures that had once seemed so real disappeared from our minds—and sadly enough, for most of us, the angels did too.

But angels are not just kid stuff. They’re powerful spirits sent forth to minister for us who are heirs of salvation.

The word salvation in Hebrews 1:14 is from the Greek word soteria meaning “deliverance, preservation…material, and temporal deliverance.” Just think about that! God has created vast numbers of gloriously powerful spiritual beings for the express purpose of protecting us and delivering us from the evils of this world.

And remember, according to Psalm 103:20, the Word of God is what puts those angels in action. So when you’re in trouble, don’t cower and cry about how awful things are. Speak the Word! Give your angels something to respond to. Then be patient and let them have time to work. They’ll get their job done.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 103:17-22

Rest In His Love – Andrew Wommack Devotional 21 March 2019

Topic: Rest In His Love [Andrew Wommack Devotional 21 March 2019]

John 5:16, “And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him because he had done these things on the sabbath day.”

Text: John 5:16-27

The Sabbath was first mentioned in Scripture in Exodus 16, when the Lord started miraculously providing the children of Israel with manna in the wilderness. The Israelites were commanded to gather twice as much manna on the sixth day because God would not provide any on the seventh day. Shortly after this, the Lord commanded the observance of the Sabbath day in the ten commandments that were communicated to Moses on Mt. Sinai on the two tablets of stone (Ex. 20:8-11). In this command, God connected this Sabbath day with the rest that He took on the seventh day of creation.

As revealed in Colossians 2:16-17, the Sabbath was symbolic. According to Exodus 23:12, one of the purposes of the Sabbath was to give man and his animals one day of physical rest each week. Today’s medical science has proven that our bodies need at least one day of rest each week to function at our peak. Deuteronomy 5:15, also clearly states that the Sabbath was to serve as a reminder to the Jews that they had been slaves in Egypt and were delivered from bondage, not by their own efforts, but by the supernatural power of God. However, in the New Testament, there is an even clearer purpose of the Sabbath stated. In Colossians 2:16-17, Paul reveals that the Sabbath was only a shadow of things to come and is now fulfilled in Christ. Hebrews 4:1-11, talks about a Sabbath rest that is available to, but not necessarily functional in, all New Testament believers. This New Testament Sabbath rest is simply a relationship with God in which we have ceased from doing things by our own efforts and are letting God work through us (Gal. 2:20; Heb. 4:10).

The Sabbath is not a day, but rather a relationship with God through Jesus. Rest in His love and let Him use you today.

Satisfaction in Him – Billy Graham Devotional 21 March 2019

Topic: Satisfaction in Him [Billy Graham Devotional 21 March 2019]

I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. — Psalm 17:15

Is it not logical to believe that the only one who can recreate us is the One who created us in the first place? If your watch were out of order, you wouldn’t take it to a blacksmith. If your car needed overhauling, you wouldn’t go to a machine shop. Our spiritual problems can be solved only by the God who created us originally. He created us in His own image and likeness; today, by the grace of His Son, He can recreate us in the likeness of His resurrection. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are recreated and become partakers of His life.

Prayer for the day: There is so much that is out of order in my life, Lord. Remake all the parts that need the infinite healing of your re-creation.

Lessons from Daniel – Open Heavens for Teens 21 March 2019

Topic Lessons from Daniel [Open Heavens for Teens 21 March 2019]

Memorise: “For the, that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” – 1 Samuel 2:30

Read: Ecclesiastes 12:1

1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

Bible In One Year: Joshua 4-6, Luke 2:1-24

MESSAGE:

According to many Bible scholars, Daniel was in his early teens when he was suddenly taken captive by a pagan land to serve a pagan king. Despite Daniel’s young age, he already had a strong relationship with God, and he ensured that nothing made him lose that relationship.

As a Christian teenager, you have to determine never to compromise your standards no matter how great the pressure is.

Keeping a steady relationship with God was very important to Daniel; the Bible records that Daniel will kneel towards Jerusalem from His window and pray there times every single day. Though he was now in a pagan land, forced to work for a pagan king, he decided not to forget his God; he frequently prayed to Him and purposed never to wrong Him. It was this decision that eventually landed him in the lion’s den and even in the face of that, Daniel didn’t compromise his stand with God.

You will come across many instances where you will be pressed between honouring God and doing what the rest of your friends are doing, when faced with such situations, choose to honour God.

Key Point: Honouring God is equivalent to honouring yourself.

Hymn 6:

  1. Our God, our help in ages past,
    Our hope for years to come,
    Our shelter from the stormy blast,
    And our eternal home:
  2. Under the shadow of your throne
    Your saints have dwelt secure;
    Sufficient is your arm alone,
    And our defense is sure
  3. Before the hills in order stood
    Or earth received its frame,
    From everlasting you are God,
    To endless years the same.
  4. A thousand ages in your sight
    Are like an evening gone
    Short as the watch that ends the night
    Before the rising sun.
  5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
    Soon bears us all away;
    We fly forgotten, as a dream
    Does at the opening day.
  6. Our God, our help in ages past,
    Our hope for years to come,
    Still be our guard while troubles last,
    And our eternal home!

Open Heaven 21 March 2019 – Toying with Sin?

Open Heaven 21 March 2019 Thursday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Toying with Sin?

Topic: Toying with Sin? (Open Heaven 21 March 2019)

Memorise: 3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 4 How shall we sing the LORD’S song in a strange land?”- Psalm 137:3-4

Read: Judges 16:23-30 (KJV)

23 Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

25 And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

26 And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

28 And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

Bible in One Year: 2 Corinthians 8-10, Jeremiah 2:26-3:5

Open Heaven 21 March 2019 Thursday MESSAGE:

A careful study of the Bible will reveal to you that it is possible for someone who God has liberated from all forms of bondage to return into the captivity of the enemy. Sin is the number one instrument the enemy uses to recapture his targets (Romans 6:16). After the children of Israel were set free from oppression in Egypt, they return into captivity in Babylon because they refused to obey God’s commandments, leading to the sad narrative of today’s memory verse. In captivity, the enemy tormented them by requiring them to sing their sacred songs. Every mockery of the enemy in your life comes to an end in Jesus’ Name. Samson was another child of God ridiculed by the enemy because he dabbled into sin. After putting out his two eyes, the enemy mocked him and put him on display in the temple of Dagon, the God of the Philistines. They turned the great Samson into a pitiable object of sport and forced him to entertain them with the power he had once used to attack them. Sadly, he died with the enemy in the temple of Dagon.

Just like Samson, some people play with sin, believing that they will have the opportunity to repent, engage in long term fasting and prayer and bounce back on their spiritual feet. Such people should learn from Samson and abandon this assumption. Judges 16:20 says this of Samson:

“And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”

If you live a life that toys with sin every now and then with the hope of always bouncing back, may I announce to you that there is a journey into sin you may undertake that would be your last. This is the reason why the Bible says we should work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). There are things people do today that are equivalent to singing sacred songs in Satan’s temple. As God’s own peculiar people, we must rid the Church of strange practices that conform to the way the world does its things (1 Peter 2:9). We cannot afford to destroy our uniqueness in the name of making the gospel appealing to the world. With this in mind, we must beware of singing satanic songs on God’s altar in our bid to win the world. If because we want to catch monkeys we begin to behave like monkeys, we will only end up multiplying the number of monkeys, and the souls we are trying to win to Christ will never partake of the image of God that we have. A word is enough for the wise.

Open Heaven 21 March 2019 Thursday Hymn 2: Oh Jesus I Have Promised

  1. O Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    Be Thou forever near me,
    My Master and my Friend;
    I shall not fear the battle
    If Thou art by my side,
    Nor wander from the pathway
    If Thou wilt be my Guide.
  2. Oh, let me feel Thee near me;
    The world is ever near;
    I see the sights that dazzle,
    The tempting sounds I hear;
    My foes are ever near me,
    Around me and within;
    But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
    And shield my soul from sin.
  3. Oh, let me hear Thee speaking,
    In accents clear and still,
    Above the storms of passion,
    The murmurs of self-will;
    Oh, speak to reassure me,
    To hasten, or control;
    Oh, speak, and make me listen,
    Thou Guardian of my soul.

Future Mary Poppins Film Should Support Gay Rights, Director Says

Future Mary Poppins Film Should Support Gay Rights, Director Says

The director of last year’s family film Mary Poppins Returnis hoping for a gay rights theme in a future film – if one is made.

Rob Marshall, who is gay, directed the 2018 Disney film that grossed $171 million. Disney hasn’t announced if there will be a “Mary Poppins 3,” but Marshall told Advocate.com he’d support it having a gay rights angle. Advocate’s Daniel Reynolds noted that women in the first two films “fight for causes.” In the 2018 film, Jane Banks worked as a union organizer.

“You’re right about that,” Marshall said. “That was a conscious decision to have [Jane in Mary Poppins Returns] follow in the footsteps of her mother. I will say, I never approached it like, Oh, I’m making a film for kids. It’s that great thing that Walt Disney said, ‘Our films aren’t for children. They’re for the child in all of us.’ Which is such a great quote and it’s so true. But this one, I honestly felt was for adults.”

Asked if he saw the “next generation” advocating “for causes like gay rights, LGBTQ rights,” Marshall said he’d back it.

“Wouldn’t that’d be great? Please, Lord. That’s exactly what should be happening,” Marshall responded. “I’m always so aware of that, being a gay man myself. I mean, our movie takes place in the ’30s. But if it were to take place now, that’s exactly what it should be. I understand so deeply what it’s…

Vimeo Takes Down Church’s Videos That Express Biblical Views on Homosexuality

Vimeo Takes Down Church’s Videos That Express Biblical Views on Homosexuality

Video hosting site Vimeo has removed some videos from Oklahoma’s Fairview Baptist Church’s account after the church uploaded videos of its February conference.

The February conference, “God’s Voice,” was a gathering dedicated to “bring(ing) biblical clarity to the recent confusion surrounding the issues of ‘revoiced’ sexuality and ‘LGBTQ+ Christians.”

Vimeo first removed the church’s account and then on March 15, restored the account and many videos, but all videos from the “God’s Voice” conference remained unavailable on the church’s account.

An employee with Vimeo’s “Trust and Safety” department told the church in an email that “Vimeo moderators will generally remove accounts or content” in which uploads:

  • Make derogatory or inflammatory statements about individuals or groups of people

  • Are intended to harm someone’s reputation

  • Have an overall mean-spirited vibe

The email also said the site “forbids” content that promotes Sexual Orientation Change Efforts.

“It appears that your account had a series of live streams promoting these views,” the email said.

Fairview Baptist responded to the email in a public Facebook post, warning other churches to be aware of Vimeo’s policy.

“Christians should be worried,” the post said. “It is only getting worse in America. Churches using Vimeo should be…

Peterborough vicar calls for Fiona Onasanya to go

Fiona Onasanya, the now independent MP for Peterborough, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice after lying about driving a speeding car.

She was expelled from the Labour party and is now facing a six week petition which, if 10% of her constituents physically sign, will trigger a by-election.

Rev Canon Ian Black, vicar of St John’s Parish Church in central Peterborough and Canon of Peterborough Cathedral, told The Times: “It’s time for her to go”

He explained that he thought this because the law had looked at both sides: “She has had more than her day in court and I read the judge’s summing up and he was very clear that she had put her case across and the jury had decided against her. I found the video bizarre.”

Rev Ian was referring to a video Onasanya posted on her social media pages in which she says she has always maintained her innocence, asks her constituents why she would risk her career for points on her licence and says she has never had the chance to put across her side of the story.

She has previously linked her fight with the law with that of Jesus and other Biblical characters, saying: “I am in good biblical company along with Joseph, Moses, Daniel and his three Hebrew friends who were each found guilty by the courts of their day.”

Rev Ian said: “She is a person of faith and she had…

College Football Player Thanks God He’s Alive after Collapsing, Having Several Strokes

College Football Player Thanks God He’s Alive after Collapsing, Having Several Strokes

After collapsing from a serious brain injury last September, doctors did not believe college football player Christion Abercrombie would survive. Now the athlete is praising God that he is alive.

According to WSB-TV 2, Abercrombie – a former middle linebacker for Tennessee State University – collapsed during a game against Vanderbilt, from what he thought was an excruciating headache.

The student-athlete was rushed to the hospital where doctors determined that he had suffered several strokes and was suffering from a severe brain injury. CBN News reports that doctors did not expect him to make it through the night.

Upon hearing this news, athletes from both TSU and Vanderbilt decided to huddle together at the 50-yard-line and pray for their teammate and friend.

The moment was captured and posted to Twitter by Jeremy Buchanan. The photo was captioned, “Vanderbilt and Tennessee State met at the 50 yard line after the game to pray for injured player Christian Abercrombie.”

Abercrombie’s parents also prayed for their son that night as they stayed by his side. Staci Abercrombie,…

Christian charity urges Christians to pray in aftermath of cyclone

More than 350 people are dead after mass destruction in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

At least 4-hundred thousand people have been left homeless.

Large parts of Mozambique were hardest hit and heavy rains caused landslides and flash floods in Malawi and Zimbabwe.

Tearfund’s country director for Malawi, Vincent Moyo told Premier:

“Pray that no more rains, which are destructive, will come. But also pray that people come in to respond and embrace the people who have been grieved, those who have lost their loved ones.”

Cyclone Idai made landfall in the port city of Beira on Thursday 14th March with wind speeds of up to 106 mph and has wreaked havoc across the region destroying homes and devastating crops, infrastructure and livelihoods.

The full extent of the damage is still unknown. Predictions suggest that the death toll may reach as many as 1,000 in Mozambique alone, with thousands more displaced and left homeless.

Vincent Moyo told Premier: “The situation is very devastating, so depressing – you see women and children who have lost their homes, their property, their crops and they have no food and they are destitute.

“The immediate needs – you’re talking of food because they have lost all their food, but also safe drinking water just because of the floods, due to the cyclone. the wells have been contaminated.”

Earnest Maswera, Tearfund’s Country Director in…
