Evangelical leaders from the U.S. met with Brazil’s new President Jari Bolsonaro – an outspoken Christian – on Tuesday to talk about the future of his country.

According to CBN News, pastors, CEOs and community leaders – including Pat Robertson, Reinhard Bonnke and Joel Rosenberg – gathered with Bolsonaro to pray over him and his country as they discussed policy and the importance of upholding traditional Christian values.

. Magazine reports that in the meeting – which was set up by the Christian Broadcasting Network– Bolsonaro shared that he wants to move Brazil away from liberal “left-wing leaning” politics and toward more conservative policies.

Among the things he wants to do, Bolsonaro said he would like to move the Brazilian embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, strengthen Brazil’s relationship with Israel, strengthen legislation that protects unborn babies and reverse the effects socialism has had on Brazil.

According to CBN News, Bolsonaro also touched on the current crisis in Venezuela noting that he wants to continue to provide aid to the country in whatever capacity he can. 

Many of the leaders also took turns praying over Bolsonaro.

From the roaring applause of the room and the familiar voice of a past presidential candidate, one would have thought they were in a campaign rally.

As former Presidential candidate and the 42nd Vice President of the United States, Al Gore, stood on stage in front of thousands of people, it was clear that he was in his element. 

Last week, 2,000 people gathered in Atlanta, Georgia to receive training from Gore through the Interfaith Climate Reality Project. This was the organization’s first Interfaith climate reality training. 

Since 2006, Gore has been on a mission to train as many people as he can on what he calls “the number one danger that we are facing today,” climate crisis. Many in the evangelical community struggle with this assertion, putting Gore at odds with some mainline evangelicals.

A 2015 Pew Research Poll found that only 28 percent of white evangelicals believed that the Earth was getting warmer as a result of human activity. This was by far the lowest percentage of any religious demographic in the survey.

While this may be the case, during a round table event with reporters, Gore noted that he welcomes other point of views from the evangelical community and would welcome mainline evangelicals to come to the table. 

Since the Interfaith Climate Reality Project’s inception, Gore has trained more than 19,000 people.

Government officials in Britain threatened to remove a teenage boy with autism from his parents after they objected to his desire to live life as a girl and take puberty-blocking drugs.

The school even reported the parents for being “emotionally abusive” because of their stance, according to The Daily Mail newspaper. 

Doctors at a government-run National Health Service clinic had recommended the boy be given drugs that delay puberty because of his desire to be a girl. His parents objected, fearing the side effects. 

When the boy told school officials that his parents weren’t allowing him to take puberty-blocking drugs, a teacher told them he could be placed in foster care if they didn’t change their mind, the newspaper reported.

The school reported the parents to child services, which placed the boy with a family friend. The parents agreed with the arrangement so as to avoid foster care. The school labeled the parents “emotionally abusive.”

Since then, the boy has moved back in with the parents. 

“I’m absolutely devastated,” the mother, who wants to remain anonymous, told The Daily Mail. “When I saw the report that social services wrote about us and saw the words ‘emotional abuse,’ I just broke down.

Tyler Perry made an unexpected call to a grieving family of four after the murder of their mother, 45-year-old Tynesha Evans.

“It was a call I wasn’t even going to answer. I said, ‘Well, let me answer it to see who it is.’ I answered and the person on the other end said, ‘This is Tyler.’ I said, ‘Who?’ …[H]e said, ‘Tyler Perry.’ At that point, I just broke down crying,” said Evans’ daughter Audrey Turner to WSB-TV. 

The four children, two of whom are minors, feared eviction following their mother’s death. But, the actor and filmmaker, best known for his role as Madea, covered their rent. He also paid for two funerals — one in Atlanta and another in Evans’ home state of Wisconsin — as well as tuition for freshman Sharadiant Turner, who attends Spelman College in Atlanta. 

“I’m going to do what she wanted me to do. She started me on math and now I’m going to get to graduate with a mathematics degree from Spelman College without debt. It means everything,” Sharadiant said, as reported by CNN.

On March 16, Evans was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Wells Fargo bank in Alpharetta, Georgia. The alleged shooter was her 58-year-old boyfriend. Officials with the Houston Public Library issued a mea culpa Friday after a conservative group discovered that one of the participants in the “Drag Queen Story Hour” was a registered sex offender. 

According to the Houston Chronicle, 32-year-old Albert Garza, who performs in Drag Queen Story Hour as Tatiana Mala-Nina, was convicted in 2009 of aggravated sexual assault against a 9-year-old child. A judge sentenced Garza to five years of probation and community supervision. 

Garza’s sordid past came into view after months of work by conservative group MassResistance to fight against the Drag Queen Story Hour program at the Houston Library. They attempted to learn more about the program by filing a public records request, which the city of House denied. Then, they sued the City of Houston and a judge threw out the case. Since then, they have been researching participants through the Internet and social media.

The Houston Public Library apologized and released a statement acknowledging their mistake. They said, “We were made aware today that one participant for Drag Queen storytime who read at the September 29, 2018 Drag Queen Storytime has a criminal background that should have prevented him from participating in the program.” The release continued, “In our review of our process and of this participant, we discovered that we…
