Nothing to Be Afraid Of – Kenneth Copeland Devotional 17 March 2019

Topic: Nothing to Be Afraid Of [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 18 March 2019]

He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. – Hebrews 13:5-6

Self-consciousness is a major problem in the Body of Christ today. It keeps us from doing the things God tells us to do. Instead of simply obeying Him, it makes us start to wonder, Now what will people think of me if I do that? What if I command that person to get out of the wheelchair and he doesn’t get up? What if I start believing for prosperity and go broke? What about that, God? I won’t look too good, will I?

If you’ve ever been through that, let me tell you something: It doesn’t matter how you look! It’s obeying God that counts. When it comes to obeying God, your own reputation doesn’t count. And the sooner you forget it, the better off you’ll be.

But you know what’s ironic? Once you do that, your reputation gets better. It’s a funny thing. When you lose that desire to protect your image, your image will improve. Why? Because then when people look at you, instead of seeing that puny little image you have of yourself, they’ll see the image of the Lord Jesus coming through.

So put aside that old self-consciousness and develop God-consciousness instead. Stop being dominated by the fear of man and start being motivated by faith in what Jesus can do.

After all, He has promised He will never leave you or forsake you. Grab hold of that. Believe it. Act on it. Once you do, you’ll realize there’s really nothing to be afraid of anymore!

Let Christ Live Through Us – Andrew Wommack Devotional 18 March 2019

Topic: Let Christ Live Through Us [Andrew Wommack Devotional 18 March 2019]

Matthew 9:9, “And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.”

Text: Matthew 9:9-10, Mark 2:14-15, Luke 5:27-29

To “follow” means to come or go after; move behind in the same direction; to come or go with; to accept the guidance or leadership of; to adhere to the cause or principles of; to be governed by; obey; comply with (Jn. 10:27-29; Rom. 10:9-10, 13).

When a person first comes to Jesus, it is impossible to know everything that following Jesus entails. No one, however, should be fearful of making a total commitment because of some imagined problem that may never come to pass. There should be a willingness to forsake everything to follow Jesus. Once we make that decision, then Christ begins to live through us and we find a strength that is not our own, equal to whatever test we may encounter (Gal. 2:20).

It is Christ living through us that is the secret of victorious Christian living. It is not us living for Jesus, but Jesus living through us. Failure to understand this simple truth is at the root of all legalism and the performance mentality. The law focuses on the outer man and tells it what it must do. Grace focuses on the inner man and tells it what is already done through Christ. Those who are focused on what they must do are under law. Those who are focused on what Christ has done for them are walking under grace.

Just as the life of a root is found in the soil, or a branch in the vine, or a fish in the sea, so the believer’s true life is found to be in union with Christ. The Christian life is not just hard to live, it’s impossible in our human strength. The only way to walk in victory is to let Christ live through us.

Tame Your Temper – Billy Graham Devotional 18 March 2019

Topic: Tame Your Temper [Billy Graham Devotional 18 March 2019]

Doest thou well to be angry? — Jonah 4:4

You have a temper. There is nothing unique about that. Most people have tempers, in varying degrees, of course. God does not ask that you get rid of that temper. But He does say that if you are to be happy, it must be brought under control and rechanneled to proper use. God cannot use a man without a temper as well as one with a controlled temper. Too many professed Christians never get “wrought up” about anything; they never get indignant with injustice, with corruption in high places, or with the godless traffics which barter away the souls and bodies of men.

Prayer for the day: Use my anger to help others, Lord. When I see them hurting or Your world decaying, let me be challenged to reach out—instead of merely exploding.

Open Heaven 18 March 2019 – Pervasive Immorality

Open Heaven 18 March 2019 Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Pervasive Immorality

Topic: Pervasive Immorality (Open Heaven 18 March 2019)

Memorise: “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”- Hebrews 13:4

Read: Matthew 5:27-32 (KJV)

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Bible in One Year: 1 Corinthians 15-16, Isaiah 66:7-24

Open Heaven 18 March 2019 Monday MESSAGE:

“In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges 21:25

The scripture aptly describes the state of the world today, especially in the area of sexual immorality. Many people these days have no sense of restraint, having eliminated God’s authority over their lives. They are no longer answerable to God, and the boundaries He has defined for the total wellbeing of mankind are being dismantled in order to accommodate their desires. As a result, every sexual absurdity that enters into the depraved minds is turned into a cause for social justice by the devil and his agents, and several simple-minded people are getting swept into supporting such so-called “civil right” causes that are essentially a repudiation of the ways of God. Not satisfied with manipulating the world, the devil has set his sights on the Church, which has been his target all along. It is therefore disheartening to see ignorant Christians lowering the standard of God’s word in order to accommodate the world. Such Christians believe that in order to reach out to the world, the word of God needs to be “toned down” to accommodate modern day realities. They forget that the Holy Spirit says in 2 Timothy 2:19:

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

God’s standards are very high, they are firm and they are sealed. This means that you cannot unravel them to add or subtract things in order to accommodate your own desires.

In today’s Bible reading, the Lord Jesus Christ declares God’s standard on immorality to every ear that is willing to hear. The first standard He sets is that adultery is not committed just in the act but also in the lust that arises before the act. The devil knows this and that is why he manipulates men and women to wear clothes that accentuates or reveal their nakedness, even in church. His plan is to ensnare innocent souls into committing adultery and fornication through lust. Another standard of the Lord established in today’s Bible text concerns divorce and re-marriage. Several so-called “Bible-believing” churches have jettisoned God’s standard and have embraced the necessity of divorce and re-marriage as a reality of modern life. Such people are only deceiving themselves and will answer for it on Judgment Day. Are you living by God’s standards in the area of sexual purity?

Open Heaven 18 March 2019 Monday Action Point:

Endeavour to avoid any act that would foster sexual immorality in the Church of Christ.

Open Heaven 18 March 2019 Monday Hymn 6: Have You Been To Jesus For The Cleansing Power?

1. Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Chorus:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

2. Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

3. When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white!
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for His presence bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

4. Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb.

8 years on, Christian charity says lives remain in limbo

The UN estimates that the conflict to date has killed over 400,000 people and left 6.1 million people homeless within Syria, with an additional 500,000 fleeing to neighbouring countries.

However, after eight years of conflict, there’s still no end in sight for the war.

Elouise Hobbs, World News Officer at CAFOD recently returned from Lebanon where she met Syrian refugees.

She told Premier of one woman she met: “I met one young woman called Aya and she’s the same age as me. And I was really amazed at her resilience despite the trauma she had faced and I was really struck with how different our lives are.

Creative Commons

“She’d come to Lebanon for a holiday with her family, and because of the war, she was unable to return home. So, she had been stuck in Lebanon for seven years.

“She was one of the lucky ones because she was able to continue her education, but there are hundreds of people in Lebanon, usually young women who’ve had to stop their education and put their lives on hold basically because of the conflict.”

World Vision

A peaceful uprising against the president of Syria almost eight years ago rapidly escalated and the country descended into full-scale civil war.

Neighbouring Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey, which are hosting 93 per cent of asylum seeking Syrians, have struggled to cope with one of…

Pray for Northwest Hills Community Church

Location: Torrington, Connecticut

Pastor: Pastors Michael Burgos and Michael Ambrose

Weekly Worship: 9:30, Eastern

Fast Facts: Northwest Hills Church is located in downtown Torrington and originally began as a church plant. In 2015, the church merged with Calvary Baptist Church, a historic but aging congregation. The merger has resulted in a multi-generational congregation that is thriving. NHCC values expository preaching and is intentionally theological. One of its biggest ministries is Grace Place, which serves women and families who might be considering abortion with resources and biblical counseling not to do so. Please pray for an upcoming event on March 23 in which they are hosting the Living Your Faith youth conference. This conference is designed to equip teenage youth to be apologetically- and evangelistically-minded within the context of a mostly secular New England. Also, please pray for reformation and revival in New England. Pray that Torrington is filled with the teaching of Christ.

Church urged to step in as report finds millions of Brits at risk of poor-quality later life

The Centre for Ageing Better is concerned that an ageing population is leading to pressure on healthcare, local authorities and the voluntary sector.

The report found the number of households where the oldest person is 85 or over, is increasing faster than any other age group and the number of people aged 65 and over is set to grow by more than 40 per cent in two decades.

Carl Knightly, director of Faith in Later Life – a Christian charity that works with older people, told Premier there needs to be a collective effort to care for older people.

“We very much want to encourage churches and people in churches to really think about how they reach out to not just their own older family members, but those around them in their church and in their neighbourhood.

“We can’t deliver social care ourselves. But there are many ways that we can engage with people who are older around us, whether it’s just checking in on them, providing friendship and support, asking them if they need any help with their shopping.

“There are many ways we can try to think about intentionally about how we serve the older people around us.”

Novelist Marlon James reveals he tried to ‘drive out the gay’ at church

The Jamaican writer and winner of the 2015 Man Booker Prize has said he endured an “extreme” attempt to alter his sexuality.

James, who achieved literary fame with his third novel A Brief History Of Seven Killings, has said he wanted more than anything to change who he was.

The writer said he was unsure of his own sexuality when he was young, and was willing to undergo an intense and nauseating ritual to fit into Jamaican society.

Speaking on BBC radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, James said that his problems were eventually solved when he decided to give up religion instead of his sexuality.

The novelist said that he was sick multiple times during an exorcism at his church which he hoped would change him.

He said: “I really threw myself into it. I was at church almost every day of the week.

“Homophobia was going to get to me sooner or later.

“I didn’t know I was gay.

“We’re all repressed together.

“We’re all ‘let’s just forget all emotion and think God will provide’.

“God is going to provide a wife who is going to understand my quote unquote ‘struggle’.

“I wanted it more than anything.

Amanda Benson/BBC Radio 4/PA Wire

“That’s why I eventually had my sort of exorcism to drive out the gay. It’s extreme ex-gay therapy. Back then I thought they were just driving out demons. It’s a kind of mental control.

“It’s this relentless, everything you say, ‘that’s not…

Pope Francis resumes plans for South Sudan trip

Pope Francis was forced to cancel the visit in 2017 because of the civil war in the world’s youngest country.

The pontiff met with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir, who is also Catholic, on Saturday at the Vatican.

During the meeting, Pope Francis “expressed the wish to ascertain the conditions for a possible visit to South Sudan,” a statement revealed.

It added that the Pope wanted to make the trip as “a sign of closeness to the population and of encouragement for the peace process”.

The African nation, which became independent in 2011, descended into civil war in December 2013 when Mr Kiir sacked his then-deputy Riek Machar and accused him of plotting a coup.

The personal rivalry sparked fighting between forces loyal to the president and rebels allied with Machar.

It also deepened division between two of South Sudan’s largest ethnic groups – Mr Kiir’s dominant Dinka and Mr Machar’s Nuer people.

Mr Kiir and Mr Riek Machar – who is a Presbyterian, signed a peace deal in September, pledging to create a united national army before May.

More than half of the population of South Sudan is Christian, while Sudan is predominantly Muslim.

Church set to display robots, astronaut suits and space toilets to mark moon landing anniversary

A total of 14 church projects across the country have been awarded £70,000 under the Scientists in Congregations scheme.

It’s part of a news outreach scheme to bring younger people to church, promote the unity between science and faith.

Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire has revealed it will host a programme of services and events inspired by the historic space moment.

Peter Walker, the cathedral’s artist in-residence, will transform the medieval building’s tiled floor to look like the moon’s surface this summer.

Ely Cathedral and Cambridgeshire will also be joining in with the celebrations. It’s hoped the variety of events will attract youngsters to take and share pictures of some of the country’s most ancient cathedrals.

A seven metre diameter lunar replica will hover above Ely Cathedral’s nave.

Organiser Vicky Johnson, the Canon of Ely Cathedral told The Sunday Telegraph: “It’s entirely for the millennials.”

She added: “It’s particularly about creating spaces where people can ask questions and wonder about their place in the universe and that’s a key thing millennials do.

“They like authentic answers.”
