Pastor of Underground Church in Kenya Beaten Unconscious

NAIROBIKenya, March 11, 2019 (Morning Star News) – The Somali pastor of an underground church in Kenya near the Somali border suffered a broken thigh bone and other injuries after Muslim extremists beat him with wooden clubs on Friday night (March 8), sources said.

Pastor Abdul (surname withheld for security reasons), a 30-year-old father of three, had finished leading a prayer gathering at 9 p.m. on the outskirts of Garissa and was on his way back to his house when several ethnic Somali Muslims attacked, he told Morning Star News from his hospital bed, still visibly in pain.

Pastor Abdul said he did not know the assailants. As they approached him, he said, one of them told him, “We have been following your movements and your evil plans of changing Muslims to Christianity.”

Leader of an underground church of 30 former Muslims, he clandestinely met with them in smaller groups on varying days for worship, prayer and Bible study, he said.

“Immediately several assailants began hitting me with wooden clubs, and I became unconscious,” Pastor Abdul said. “I woke up and found myself surrounded by neighbors. I was rescued by the neighbors who found me in a pool of blood.”

They rushed him to a hospital in Garissa, where doctors found his thigh was broken and bruises throughout his body.

“Apart from the thigh pain, I now feel pain all over my body, especially…

Local Council Bans Prayer or Counseling Outside London Abortion Center

Local Council Bans Prayer or Counseling Outside London Abortion Center

A local council in a borough of southwest London has passed a vote to set up a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) around a BPAS abortion clinic. The protection order put in place will ban pro-life vigils and protests “with respect to issues related to abortion services, by any means” wrote the Independent.

The Richmond Council’s unanimous decision to introduce the PSPO around the Twickenham clinic prevents the “peaceful pro-life prayer vigils” normally held by the Good Counsel Network, according to Life News.

In addition to protests, attempts to provide counseling support to women visiting the center will be banned, “along with ‘any form’ of interaction with residents, road users or BPAS staff if it relates to terminations, according to a draft document,” reported the Independent.

This ban spreads across six roads surrounding the clinic to create a buffer zone in areas where Richmond Council says protest has grown in recent years. Positive and negative feelings have been reported by women who have attended the clinic. Many have said to have felt judged and targeted by the manner of protest occurring, while others have received support after handed leaflets, and decided not to end their pregnancies.

Some of these women gave testimonies to the council, expressing their “dismay” that the introduction of a censorship zone will prevent…

Tributes to Briton killed on Ethiopian Airlines flight

55 year old Joseph Waithaka (pictured above) had dual British and Kenyan nationality. He lived and worked in Hull, until retiring to Kenya four years ago. This month he was visiting family and friends in the UK, and celebrating the birth of his latest grandchild. He flew out of Heathrow on Saturday and had changed planes in Ethiopia.

One of his sons, Ben Kuria (pictured below), told Premier of the moment he realised his dad had been on board the flight.

“I just saw a news flash saying that an Ethiopian Airline ET302 had crashed about six minutes after take-off. At that point I just put two-and-two together and that’s when I started to fear for the worst.

“(At that moment) I just felt the peace of God. As soon as I started to think ‘well, yes, I think this might have been the flight that dad was on’. And I was eerily calm when I rang my brother.”

The family say they’ve been touched by messages of support from people in churches in Hull and other parts of the country.

“It’s of comfort to know that we’ve had such an outpouring of love, of prayers and support. And we’ll be carried by that.”

Worshiping Through the Storm: How Town Devastated by Tornado Is Holding onto Hope

Worshiping Through the Storm: How Town Devastated by Tornado Is Holding onto Hope

It’s a typical Sunday morning for Powell Missionary Baptist Church. The choir is in place, the ushers are pointing people in the right direction and the mood of the congregation is just as upbeat as its young Pastor Vinton Copeland, who exudes with love and enthusiasm for his people.

The feeling is mutual from the congregation, who seems to not only to like but deeply respect and love their pastor. There’s only one thing out of place and that’s what’s happening outside of the church in the small town of Talbotton, Georgia.

According to the National Weather Service, this small town endured a category EF-3 tornado last Sunday after church.

“I had just left the church and was visiting family members, when all of a sudden a roaring sound came out of nowhere,” Copeland shared.

He would realize later that he had experienced the worst tornado to come through the small town that he was born and raised in. Copeland can remember walking out of the family member’s house that he was visiting, to sirens and people crying, not knowing what to do next.

“It looked like a war zone, as the rain was still coming down,” the pastor said.

Fast forward to this past Sunday. It is night and day compared to the trauma that the people of Powell Missionary had gone through. By the energy in the room, you wouldn’t know that an EF-3 tornado had touched down a week…

Queen leads the nation to mark Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey

With her family gathered around her, the Queen joined the 2,000-strong congregation at Westminster Abbey to honour the institution which has been a pivotal part of her 66-year reign.

The Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke of York were among the guests, with the Prime Minister, Theresa May, High Commissioners and hundreds of schoolchildren.

Harry and Meghan were the first senior royals to arrive for the Commonwealth Day service, followed by William and Kate then Charles and Camilla and finally the Queen, accompanied by the Duke of York.

Outside the Abbey’s west door they were treated to a performance by the Tropical Flowers Sega Dancers, a group of British Mauritians from south London.

The Commonwealth plays an important part in the public life of the Queen, who famously dedicated herself to the empire on her 21st birthday in 1947.

Now head of the Commonwealth, the then Princess Elizabeth said that day: “I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family, to which we all belong.”

When the Queen arrived and turned to look at her grandsons and their wives, Kate and Meghan both curtseyed while William and Harry bowed their heads.

Walk In His Light – Rhapsody of Realities 12 March 2019

Rhapsody of Realities 12 March 2019 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome – Walk In His Light

Topic: Walk In His Light

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

The reason some Christians find themselves struggling with the flesh is that they’re not living the Word (James 1:22). The Word of God is clear: Walk in the Spirit, and you’ll not fulfil the lusts or desires of the flesh, as our opening verse states.

Some have been trying to crucify the flesh for a long time to no avail. God never told us to crucify the flesh, because the flesh has already been crucified; it happened the moment you were born again. Galatians 5:24 says, “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”

So, if you’re struggling with the flesh, simply stop; just act on the Word; walk according to the life and nature of God that’s in your spirit. 1 John 1:7 tells us to walk in the light, as He (God) is in the light; in other words, walk in the light of God’s provisions for you in Christ, as revealed in the Word.

For example, Romans 6:14 says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you…” ; therefore, if you find yourself struggling with a sinful habit, don’t become frustrated! Use the Word. Affirm, “I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; sin has no power over me. I refuse to be entangled by any yoke of bondage. I put a stop to this habit, in Jesus’ Name.” Make this declaration and begin to walk in its light, and sin shall not lord it over you. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for enlightening me on the path of life through your Word; your Word is light and full of glory. I walk in the light of my righteousness, exercising dominion over Satan, sin, and the flesh with its affections and lusts. I’ve overcome the world, and I live triumphantly every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

‘College Professors Are Predatory’: Former Student Shares How Her Professor Convinced Her to Become an Atheist

‘College Professors Are Predatory’: Former Student Shares How Her Professor Convinced Her to Become an Atheist

A former college student shares how her college professor convinced her to turn away from Christianity and become an atheist.

In a commentary for The Blaze written by Samantha Sullivan, the now 29-year-old shares the story of how her college professor “preyed” upon her and her classmates, convincing her to become an atheist for almost two years.

Sullivan was an incoming Freshman enrolled in a pre-college summer program at the University of Texas at El Paso when one of her first professors walked into the room proclaiming, “God is bulls**t.”

While Sullivan was raised in the church and had always loved God, she found the professor’s justification to be “rational, detailed, and persuasive.” She said, “He had decades more education and experience than me, and to me, an 18-year-old incoming freshman student, this professor represented the ultimate authority.”

Sullivan continued, “College professors have the power to shape the minds and beliefs of thousands of young men and women every year. And on college campuses that are increasingly and overwhelmingly secular and hostile to religion, many of those professors wield that authority to rob students of their faith.”

After losing sight of her faith, the then “trusting, naive, young, and idealistic” 18-year-old said she began to spiral.

Christians pour fake blood outside Downing Street to send climate change warning

Extinction Rebellion members said the 400 litres of red paint “represented that of today’s children – who will suffer the effects of climate change the worst”.

Roughly 400 demonstrators, including children, staged the protest alongside Christian Climate Action members, while police stood by without making any arrests.

Holly-Anna Petersen, 30, from London and a member of Christian Climate Action, described the scene: “Most of those present wept as children bravely took to a small podium in front of the crowds and used a portable microphone to speak out on all they stood to lose through climate change.

“One child came to tears herself when she reflected on the fact that she has been stripped of the chance to raise a family, because she refuses to bring children into a broken world.”

Rachael Mender, 21, along with fellow Christian Climate Action member James Staff, 19, also took to the podium and said: “It breaks Gods heart to see this happen…he really hates it.”

Extinction Rebellion

Protests in other town across the UK were also held by members of Christian Climate Action, which are one of a number of groups taking part in the Extinction Rebellion.

Police arrested 14 Extinction Rebellion activists who were protesting at an oil industry dinner at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh on Friday.

The group have declared they are…

Washington State Tells Churches: Pay for Abortions or Break the Law

Washington State Tells Churches: Pay for Abortions or Break the Law

A church filed a federal lawsuit Friday against the state of Washington over a new law that forces it to cover abortions in its health care plans.

The law, SB 6219, passed the Democratic-controlled Washington legislature last year and was signed by Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee, who recently announced he is running for president. The law requires insurance plans to cover abortion if they also cover maternity care. It has no religious exemptions.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed the suit on behalf of Cedar Park Assembly of God, a Kirkland, Wash., congregation. The suit claims the law violates the congregation’s constitutionally protected freedom of religion and displays hostility toward religious groups that oppose abortion.

“Washington’s attack on people of faith is intentional. It represents the kind of deliberate religious persecution that our country was founded to prevent,” the suit says. “… The strong statutory language, lack of any church exception, and anticipated evidence that pro-abortion groups assisted in drafting and enacting SB 6219, indicates that Washington and its officials deliberately targeted religious organizations and intentionally violated those organizations’ religious beliefs.”

Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Washington helped draft the bill before it was signed, according to the suit.

“Cedar Park’s deeply…
