Open Heavens for Teens 11 March 2019 – Idleness, The Devil’s Workshop

Topic Idleness, The Devil’s Workshop [Open Heavens for Teens 11 March 2019]

Memorise: “By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.” – Ecclesiastes 10:18

Read: 1 Thessalonians 3:11-12

11.Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

12.And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 14-16, Mark 13:14-37

MESSAGE:

Idleness is something you should avoid at all cost. It has no advantage, rather many disadvantages because it creates a seat for the devil in the life of an individual. An idle person is the devil’s workshop; first, he suggests evil thoughts to the person which may be eventually carried out, the result is usually bad.

Idleness makes you a gossip (1 Timothy 5:13). Same young ones are always on social media these days because they are idle. They comment on every issue and join in insulting people in authority. You shouldn’t be in this category as a child of God and the best way to avoid being idle is getting busy. Spend your spare time being productive. For instance, when you are on holiday, go on godly summer camps, go for holiday coaching. You can also acquire a new skill or get better at the one you have acquired before. Another way to spend your holiday wisely is to volunteer to work in an establishment, you will not only add value to yourself, but also to others.

Key Point:

Don’t be the devil’s workshop.

Hymn 2:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

DCLM Daily Manna 11 March 2019 – Efficacy of The Word

Topic: Efficacy of The Word [DCLM Daily Manna 11 March 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Psalm 19:7-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple” (Psalm 19:7).

MESSAGE:

Hakeem belonged to another religion. He recalls with joy the day a friend invited him to the church. He had failed on many occasions to honour the invitation, but one day due to the persistent pressure from his friend, he went. “The preacher descended on me” he said. “Everything I was doing was what he talked about in his message”. He became angry and upset and went to him after the message and asked him why he should use him for his preaching. But he said, “I am sorry my brother, I have never met you or known you before. The word you just heard is from God and I am only being used of Him to speak His mind”. I then asked him to pray for me and he did; that’s how I became a Christian”.

The word of God is described with various synonyms as the law, the testimony, the statutes, the commandment, judgement, etc. It shows in various works – in converting the soul, giving wisdom to man, in rejoicing the heart, enlightening the eyes and enduring forever. It warns the believer against sinning and there is great reward in keeping them.

The Word is God’s greatest treasure. He honors it more than His name. All things were created by the Word. The Word is spirit and life. It is a discerner of the intents of the heart. It gives eternal life. It is truth. It is fire and hammer that breaks the rock in pieces. It is health and medicine to the flesh. Faith comes by the Word.

The Word of God is the life of the believer. No wonder, a man of God counselled that all the true believers must “go with the Word, walk the Word, believe the Word, teach the Word, preach the Word, talk the Word, think the Word and act the Word”. That’s the only way to a truly victorious Christian life.

Thought For The Day: God’s word is the tonic that sustains life.

Seeds of Destiny 11 March 2019 Devotional – Products of Dedication to Prayer

Topic: Products of Dedication to Prayer [Seeds of Destiny 11 March 2019 Devotional]

Prayer has been confirmed to be a major hallmark of dedication to God. To be prayerful is to be dedicated to God. In other words, you cannot be dedicated to God without being given to a lifestyle of consistent prayer. Dedicated people are known for their prayer altars.

SCRIPTURE: And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The place of prayer is the place of consecration.

Prayer has been confirmed to be a major hallmark of dedication to God. To be prayerful is to be dedicated to God. In other words, you cannot be dedicated to God without being given to a lifestyle of consistent prayer. Dedicated people are known for their prayer altars.

To appreciate the importance of prayer in our lives, there is a need to look at the products of dedication to prayer:

i. The altar of prayer is the altar of transformation

Prayer changes people. When Jesus prayed, the fashion of His countenance was altered (Luke 9:29). We are changed into the likeness of Jesus Christ by prayer. Many things have changed in my own life by virtue of prayer. I was someone who could not address a crowd before, but now, prayer has changed that in my life. So, the altar of prayer is an altar of transformation.

ii. The altar of prayer is the altar of consecration

Prayer separates a person from bad habits, friends, connections and associations. The place of prayer is the place of consecration. It is at the place of prayer that one’s garment can become white (Luke 9:29). The place of prayer is the place of sanctification. When the disciples gathered together at the place of prayer, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them (Acts 13:2). So, the altar of prayer is the altar of separation and consecration. Beloved, the more prayerful you are, the more transformed and consecrated you would be.

Remember this: The place of prayer is the place of consecration.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make up your mind to pray continually.
  2. Give God the chance to transform and reform your life at the place of Prayer.

PRAYER: Father, I ask that You give me the grace to pray continually. Change and transform my life at the place of prayer, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: If our prayers must be answered, if we must bind and it is bound, if we must loose it and it is loosed, and if we must declare and it is done, then we must live a life free of unforgiveness. Culled from AM I BITTER? by Dr (Mrs) Becky Paul-Enenche.

Open Heaven 11 March 2019 – Brotherly Love

Open Heaven 11 March 2019 Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Brotherly Love

Topic: Brotherly Love (Open Heaven 11 March 2019)

Memorise: “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”- Romans 12:10

Read: 1 John 4:7-11 (KJV)

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Bible in One Year: Romans 11-13, Isaiah 60:1-18

Open Heaven 11 March 2019 Monday MESSAGE:

In Song of Solomon 8:7, love is described as being so strong that many waters cannot quench it. It is also described as having more worth than all of one’s possessions because it satisfies like nothing else can. How true the word of God is! Love is the greatest antidote against evil tendencies because the Bible declares that God is love (1 John 4:8). There is no evil in God, and so there cannot be evil in love. However, love is not the misconception the world has taken it to be. The devil has deceived the world into misconstruing lust as love. Love is a decision that originates from the expression of God nature. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us two dimension of love: love towards God and love towards fellow human beings (Matthew 22:37-40). The Holy spirit sheds more light on the link between these two aspects of love, saying in 1 John 4:20:

“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?”

In order words, we can only express our love to God through those who are created in His image. Indeed, the only way to prove that you know God is to demonstrate His kind of love to others. God’s kind of love is that which gives to those who did not deserve it. On the contrary, many children of God are selective of those they show love to. They love those who love them and hate those who hate them! Whereas Jesus Christ says in Luke 6:32-33:

32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.”

The implication of these words is that if God requires us to love even our enemies, He expects us to love our fellow brethren in Christ even more. As a matter of fact, God places a higher premium on the task of showing love towards the brethren (Galatians 6:10).

Beloved, if you find it difficult to love people, it is probably because you have not experienced the love that the Father bestowed upon us when He forgave us our sins and declared us to be His children (1 John 3:1). If that is the case with you, I encourage you to give your life to Christ today and embrace His divine love. You might also find it difficult to love people if many people have wronged you in the past. In any case, you need to open up your heart for the Holy Spirit to work on you so that you can begin to manifest His fruit of love. May the Almighty God give you the capacity to love, particularly those of the household of faith, in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 11 March 2019 Monday Action Point:

Demonstrate the love of God to someone that God ministers to your heart is in need of it today.

Open Heaven 11 March 2019 Monday Hymn 5: Let Others See Jesus In You.

1.While passing thro’ this world of sin,
and others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;
Let others see Jesus in you.

2. Your life’s a book before their eyes,
They’re reading it thro’ and thro’
Say, does it point them to the skis,
Do others see Jesus in you?

3. Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave and true,
and lead the lost to life and Christ.
Let others see Jesus in you.

Rhapsody of Realities 11 March 2019 – Have No Cares Whatsoever

Rhapsody of Realities 11 March 2019 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome – Have No Cares Whatsoever

Topic: Have No Cares Whatsoever

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God… (Philippians 4:6-7).

If, indeed, you found out that God has blessed you with so much, and you have all the resources you require for anything whatsoever, how would you live every day? Would you still be worried over anything? I’m sure you wouldn’t! I mean, you have everything, and are able to enjoy everything that God has blessed you with on earth; you wouldn’t care about a thing in the world!

But did you know that’s how you’re expected to live every day? You ought to have no cares whatsoever, because God, indeed, already blessed you with everything: every resource—spiritual and physical—that you require to live a godly and successful life. Those who don’t have this consciousness are the ones who get agitated and worried in life.

The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 6:25, “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on….” This is your ticket to the worry-free life. Read His words in Matthew 6:32 as He continues on the same subject: “…for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” How beautiful this is!

Before you were born, God already knew everything you’d ever need, and in His love, He made them available to you in Christ, even before you ever had the sense or “faith” to consider asking Him. He said in 1 Corinthians 3:21, “…all things are yours.” No wonder David could say with such confidence, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).

In your life, refuse to worry; it’s something you have to consciously practise. Have confidence in the Lord, and in all that He’s done for you and made available to you in Christ Jesus. Instead of worrying, which wouldn’t change your situation in the first place, turn your petitions to the Lord; with thanksgiving, present your requests to Him.

Choose the life of blessings and reject worry and anxiety. You’ll be amazed at the doors that’ll open to you; the blessings of God that’ll begin to work in your life without restraint. Praise God forevermore!

CONFESSION
I have all that pertain to life and godliness; all things are mine. My mind is stayed on the Lord, and His Word; thus, the blessings of God in Christ are working in my life without restraint. Blessed be God!

Christian theatre company encourages teenagers to leave knife crime behind in new play

Saltmine have performed a play version of John’s gospel in Christian Unions throughout the country and go to festivals such as Word Alive with plays based on the lives of John Newton and Martin Luther.

Their latest play, Switch Up, will go into secondary schools and is accompanied by a workshop focusing on the issues of knife crime, gang violence and self-identity.

Marcel White, the director, is an actor who has been working with Saltmine for three years.

He told Premier reducing knife crime is a topic he feels passionately about: “It’s really heartbreaking for me – really, really heartbreaking for a few reasons. When I became a Christian I had not long come out of that lifestyle.

“I myself didn’t necessarily carry a knife but I was around it all the time and it was something I really wanted to do actually – I wanted to carry a knife, I wanted to be a bad boy, I wanted to be someone.

“It’s where a lot of young people find their identity. So, to see young people dying at the cost of, what? A number on a road sign? Or colours or revenge?…It’s really heartbreaking”.

Marcel White

Marcel White explained how addressing this issue had become a personal outworking of faith for him: “This is something that God has been speaking to me about, about how he’ll use me and actually send me into these communties…to talk to…

Legal challenge made to a poll on assisted dying

The RCP asked its members where they stand on assisted dying but for the first time said they would adopt a neutral stance unless there was a 60% majority either way.

Until now, the group have been officially opposed.

Four doctors have now launched a crowdfunding page to fund a legal challenge to the poll, saying a small minority within the College who do support assisted dying are trying to change the RCP’s default position in an unfair way and that: “it means that even if 59% of members vote to maintain opposition to a change in the law, the College will change to a neutral position anyway.”

Dr Dermot Kearney MRCP, a consultant cardiologist; Dr Kathy Myers FRCP, a retired consultant in palliative medicine; Dr Adrian Treloar FRCP, a consultant old age psychiatrist and Dr David Randall MRCP, a registrar in renal medicine argue: “Using a supra-majority to change a policy is, as far as we are aware, entirely without precedent in matters of this kind.

“Such mechanisms are usually used to prevent long-term constitutional changes being implemented by small but temporary majorities, and thus they should always default to the status quo – in this case opposition to legal change.”

The doctors believe Dignity in Dying, the campaign group for assisted dying, have influenced the move. A recent blog on the Dignity in Dying website by Dr David Nicholl states: “I think it…

Christian student to challenge uni expulsion in Court of Appeal

Felix Ngole, 40, was studying for an MA in Social Work at the University of Sheffield in 2015 when he made comments using his personal Facebook account on the story of the American registrar Kim Davis, who had been imprisoned after conscientiously refusing to register same-sex marriages.

Mr Ngole expressed his beliefs on the issue, saying: “same sex marriage is a sin whether we like it or not. It is God’s words and man’s sentiments would not change His words.”

He was asked where in the Bible it says that same-sex marriage is wrong, and he quoted various passages.

Two months later, Mr Ngole received a university email informing him that his Facebook comments were being investigated.

He was interviewed by an investigatory team and subsequently removed from his course by a panel chaired by Professor Jacqueline Marsh from the School of Education and was no longer able to train to become a social worker.

In October 2017, he lost a high court battle with the University’s lawyers argueing that he showed “no insight” and that the decision to remove him from the course was fair and proportionate.

They said he had been studying for a professional qualification and university bosses had to consider his “fitness to practise”.

In October 2018, Mr Ngole was granted permission to appeal the High Court’s judgment.
He will be represented in court by religious…

Second man charged with murder of man killed just after praying with pastor

Mr Ogle, 45, died after being stabbed shortly after praying with a pastor near his home on Cluan Place in east Belfast on 27th January.

His skull was fractured and he was savagely stabbed 11 times in the back before being left to die on the street.

Jonathan Brown, 33, and Glenn Rainey, 32, have been charged with the murder.

Ian’s daughter Toni Johnston-Ogle, 27, told the Belfast Telegraph: “We are still afraid of going places on our own, we haven’t been far on our own. Mummy won’t go anywhere except in the car.

“We don’t want to bump into people, we’re still scared.”

A march was arranged for Sunday by women in east Belfast to protest against intimidation and violence in the community, with the organisers asking Toni Johnston-Ogle if she would accept their support.

Ian Ogle, known as ‘Big O’, was a community worker and a local spokesperson for the loyalist community.
