DCLM Daily Manna 2 March 2019 – Tarry Still

Topic: Tarry Still [DCLM Daily Manna 2 March 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Genesis 26:17-25 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land” (Genesis 26:22).

MESSAGE:

People respond differently to seemingly great opposition and conflict. Some give up too quickly and easily while others opt to fight back fiercely to defend their rights. Neither of these is always the right approach.

Isaac was by no means a coward; he was a realist. The odds were overwhelmingly against him when pitched against the more populous people of Gerar. Twice he dug a well and found water and each time, the herdsmen of Gerar fought against him and claimed the wells. Strikingly, each time also, Isaac moved farther away from them, and began prospecting for water all over. By the third attempt when he struck prospecting for water all over. By the third attempt when he struck water, his enemies had got tired of fighting to claim his property. Even when he could have fought back, Isaac took his predicament philosophically, giving striking names to the wells of argument. The second, he named Sitnah or the wall of anger. And the third was called Rehoboth, which means, the well where there was room enough for us at last. He believed that it was the Lord who had made room for him and his family. And soon enough, the Lord appeared to reassure him that He would bless him abundantly.

It is not every time that we must stand to claim our rights. More appropriately, we must be prepared to cede our rights if that will make for peaceful coexistence, trusting God to grant us favour or subdue our opposers. We must ask Him for the wisdom to know when to withdraw and when to stand up and fight for what rightly belongs to us. We must not however, tow the line of social agitators whatever venture we are engaged in, we must persist, even when the road is strewn with thorns and opposition. When we persist long enough, and remain on the high ground of righteousness, in due course, we shall succeed.

Thought For The Day: Those who give up easily in the face of opposition, cede their posterity to others.

Our Daily Bread 2 March 2019 Devotional – Searching for Treasure

Topic: Searching for Treasure [Our Daily Bread 2 March 2019 Devotional]

Bible in a Year: Numbers 26–27; Mark 8:1–21

[Wisdom] is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. – Proverbs 3:14

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Proverbs 4:5-19

Buried treasure. It sounds like something out of a children’s storybook. But eccentric millionaire Forrest Fenn claims to have left a box of jewels and gold, worth up to $2 million, somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. Many people have gone in search of it. In fact, four people have lost their lives trying to find the hidden riches.

The author of Proverbs gives us reason to stop and think: Does any kind of treasure merit such a quest? In Proverbs 4, a father writing to his sons about how to live well suggests that wisdom is one thing worth seeking at any cost (v. 7). Wisdom, he says, will lead us through life, keep us from stumbling, and crown us with honor (vv. 8–12). Writing hundreds of years later, James, half-brother of Jesus and leader in the early church, also emphasized the importance of wisdom. “The wisdom that comes from heaven,” he writes, “is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17). When we seek wisdom, we find all kinds of good things flourishing in our lives.

To seek wisdom is ultimately to seek God, the source of all wisdom and understanding. And the wisdom that comes from above is worth more than any buried treasure we could ever imagine.

Today’s Reflection
Are you actively seeking God’s wisdom? How can you do so today?

Open Heavens for Teens 2 March 2019 – Help Your Neighbour

Topic: Help Your Neighbour [Open Heavens for Teens 2 March 2019]

Memorise: “thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.” – Mark 12:31

Read: Luke 10:25-37

25 And then a certain lawyer arose to try (test, tempt) Him, saying, Teacher, what am I to do to inherit everlasting life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]

26 Jesus said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read it?

27 And he replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.

28 And Jesus said to him, You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live [enjoy active, blessed, endless life in the kingdom of God].

29 And he, etermined to acquit himself of reproach, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

30 Jesus, taking him up, replied, A certain man was going from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothes and belongings and beat him and went their way, [unconcernedly] leaving him half dead, as it happened.

31 Now by coincidence a certain priest was going down along that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 A Levite likewise came down to the place and saw him, and passed by on the other side [of the road].

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him],

34 And went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine. Then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35 And the next day he took out two denarii [two day’s wages] and gave [them] to the innkeeper, saying, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I [myself] will repay you when I return.

36 Which of these three do you think proved himself a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?

37 He answered, The one who showed pity and mercy to him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise.

Bible In One Year: Numbers 28-29, Mark 9:1-29

MESSAGE:

Do you know that many Christian teenagers are actually not Christ like? The sad irony is that the teenagers who are not Christians are more humane that some ‘Christian’ teenagers. The Holy Bible says that God is Love. If you don’t show love to the people around you, then you are not a genuine child of God.

Jesus Christ said that the greatest commandment is that we love God and the second greatest is that we love our neighbours. 1 John 4:20 puts it in a better perspective; it says if you claim to love God and you don’t love your neighbours that you can see, then you are a liar. If you truly love God, anytime you see someone in need, you will lend a helping hand. It is God’s wish that you always look out for people in need and help them as well as you can.

Key Point:

Even when someone is cruel to you, be kind to them still.

Hymn 13

1.Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

2.Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying
The Savior who does on the cross

3.Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the word of salvation?
To those who are dying in sin?

4.We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.

Kenneth Copeland’s Daily Devotional 2 March 2019 – Defeat Your Giant

Topic: Defeat Your Giant [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 2 March 2019]

Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? – 1 Samuel 17:26

You may be facing a giant today. He may be a giant of sickness or failure, of financial shortage or another kind of trouble. But don’t let him scare you. You have a secret weapon. A weapon that once turned a shepherd boy into a bear-busting, lion-killing, giant-slaying champion. That weapon was a blood covenant with Almighty God.

Back in David’s day, circumcision was the sign of that covenant. So, when he called Goliath uncircumcised, David was saying: “This guy may be a giant; he may be strong; but he has no covenant with God and that’s why I will defeat him.”

Just like David, you, too, have a covenant. But yours is better. You see, the covenant David had, offered a wealth of blessings to those who kept it, but it also included curses for those who broke it.

Yours doesn’t. Yours is a new covenant that Jesus bought with His own blood. It doesn’t depend on your ability. It depends on Him and what He has already done. He has done it all! All you have to do is believe it and receive it.

Right now, read Deuteronomy 28:16-68. That’s a list of the curses Christ has freed you from. You might even call it a list of the giants Jesus has already slain for you. It contains every diabolical thing the devil could ever use to destroy you.

Read them and rejoice. Those are the things God has healed you of and delivered you from!

Don’t let any giant intimidate you. You have a blood covenant with Almighty God. There’s no uncircumcised circumstance on the face of this earth that can take your victory away from you.

Scripture Reading: Galatians 3:13-29

Billy Graham Devotional 2 March 2019 – BE Truthful

Topic: BE Truthful [Billy Graham Devotional 2 March 2019]

You deserve honesty from the heart; yes, utter sincerity and truthfulness. Oh, give me this wisdom. — Psalm 51:6 (TLB)

The Bible teaches that purity of conduct includes truthfulness. The Bible teaches that we should be truthful in our representation of ourselves. With what scorn Christ denounced the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees! In the Sermon on the Mount He rebuked all hypocritical giving, praying, and fasting. We should also be truthful in speaking of our past achievements in our particular vocation. God does not ask us to understate the facts-that might even be untruthfulness-but neither does He want us to overrate our achievements or our gifts, either in thought or in speech. A lie is anything contrary to the naked truth.

Prayer for the day: It is so easy, Lord, to embellish the truth. Give me Your wisdom to be completely honest in every phase of my life.

Andrew Wommack Devotional 2 March 2019 – What’s Your Motivation

Topic: What’s Your Motivation [Andrew Wommack Devotional 2 March 2019]

Matthew 6:1, “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.”

Text: Matthew 6:1-4

The motive behind our gift is more important than the gift itself. Paul said if he gave all of his goods to feed the poor, or if he made the ultimate sacrifice of giving his own life for someone else, and wasn’t motivated by love, his gift would profit him nothing (1 Cor. 13:3).

Many Christians give faithfully but never see the hundredfold return that the Lord promised because of wrong motives (Mk. 10:29-30). Paul said God loves a cheerful giver – not one who gives grudgingly or out of debt (2 Cor. 9:7).

Jesus gave us the key to purifying our motives in this same teaching. He said, “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth” (Mt. 6:3). Giving in a manner in which you will not receive recognition for your gifts will guarantee that your motives are right and grant you the true joy that comes through selfless giving (Acts 20:24).

Ask the Lord to show you an opportunity today to give a kind word or a helping hand to someone who will not be able to repay you and others will never know about it. This could be a motorist in a traffic jam, a co-worker, a spouse, a child who won’t even notice your kind deed, or any number of other people. Opportunities are all around us.

World’s Smallest Baby to Be Born Discharged From Hospital in Tokyo – Urban Christian News

A baby boy born in Tokyo is believed to be the world’s smallest recorded preemie. He has recently been discharged from the hospital in good health, having survived delivery at 24 weeks.

Weighing “the same as a large onion” at 268 grams, the baby was so small he fit into an adult’s cupped hands.

He was delivered by emergency C-section in Keio University Hospital after he reportedly stopped growing in the womb.

He spent 5 months in the hospital for treatment in intensive care. When released last week, two months after his initial due date, he had grown to a weight of 3.2 kg, and is “now feeding normally,” BBC News reports.

“I can only say I’m happy that he has grown this big because honestly, I wasn’t sure he could survive,” said the child’s mother.

The doctor who treated the infant, Doctor Takeshi Arimitsu, told the BBC that according to a database compiled by the University of Iowa of the world’s smallest surviving babies, the boy was the littlest infant born on record to be released from a hospital.

‘He Is a Racist… He Is a Conman… He is a Cheat’: Michael Cohen Says President Trump Committed Illegal Activities While in Office

‘He Is a Racist… He Is a Conman… He is a Cheat’: Michael Cohen Says President Trump Committed Illegal Activities While in Office

“He is a racist. He is a conman. He is a cheat.” Former attorney for President Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, 52, sat before a Congressional committee on Wednesday to “set the record straight” and provide information about his work with President Trump.

During his opening statement to the congressional committee, Cohen apologized to the Congress members for lying to them in 2017 before laying out claims that Donald Trump committed crimes while in office.

Cohen shared with the committee that Mr. Trump allegedly signed reimbursement checks to him after he was instructed to use his personal money to pay off adult film actress Stormy Daniels. President Trump has unequivocally denied that he had an affair with Daniels, but according to Cohen, he did, and then he instructed members of his staff to pay for her silence. Trump reportedly continued to make payments after he assumed the office of the president. Cohen also expressed remorse for having allegedly lied to the First Lady of the United States about the affair. Cohen said, “lying to the first lady is one of my biggest regrets.”

Cohen also told the committee that President Trump knew about Roger Stone’s involvement in the WikiLeaks scandal. During his statement, Cohen said Trump was informed of the WikiLeaks e-mail dump – which led to the release…

Bill Hybels Allegations Are Credible, Willow Creek Investigation Finds

Bill Hybels Allegations Are Credible, Willow Creek Investigation Finds

Nearly a year since allegations of misconduct first surfaced against Willow Creek’s lead pastor, Bill Hybels, an independent investigation has confirmed the allegations are credible.

The six-month investigation looked into the claims made against Hybels and into Willow Creek Community Church (WCCC) and the Willow Creek Association (WCA).

The series of allegations surfaced in a report published by the Chicago Tribune in March of last year, in which several former Willow Creek pastors and staff “accused Hybels of a pattern of sexual harassment and misconduct, including suggestive remarks, invitations to his hotel rooms, prolonged hugs, and an unwanted kiss,” wrote Christianity Today

When the initial allegations were made, Hybels denied any wrongdoing. However, he admitted regret that his first response was out of anger. The church elders also shared their regret for how the allegations were handled.

“We are sorry that at times our process appeared to diminish the deep compassion we have for all those involved in these matters,” they wrote.

After more claims were made, with more women coming forward, the church launched an investigation.

The allegations led to Hybels’s resignation and early retirement last year after leading Willow Creek for 40 years.

The investigation team included Jo Anne Lyon, general superintendent emerita of The…

The Momo Challenge—Whether Real or Fake: How to Talk to Your Kids About it

The Momo Challenge—Whether Real or Fake: How to Talk to Your Kids About it

If you’ve seen the news or been on social media recently, chances are you’ve seen stories about the Momo Challenge.

As the co-founder of Axis, a ministry for parents and teens dedicated to empowering the next generation to think clearly and critically about what they believe and to take ownership of their faith, we make it a point to stay on top of the latest trends involving our kids. Here is information on the latest, disturbing “challenge” and what we can do to help our kids be aware and safe.

What is the Momo Challenge?

It’s an online challenge that targets teens, tweens and even younger children (via snippets in YouTube Kids videos). The challenge encourages kids to contact an unknown person called Momo (represented by a sculpture of a woman with a gaunt face, bulging eyes, and creepy smile) via WhatsApp or Facebook primarily.

The Momo account then sends them violent and graphic images and texts telling them to engage in various “challenges” that start out small and strange, then escalate to harming themselves and others, possibly culminating in the final challenge of committing suicide.

In order to prove they are completing the challenges, kids are supposed to send photographic or video evidence of them completing the tasks. If they ever try to stop, the Momo account threatens to expose them and/or harm them and their loved…
