‘I was never given an opportunity to spread the Gospel’, street preacher speaks out after arrest

Speaking publicly for the first time since his detention on Saturday, Oluwole Ilesanmi also revealed he returned to the scene of his arrest shortly afterwards to resume preaching.

The 64-year-old said: “I was never given the opportunity of spreading the Gospel…the police came on the scene…I was taken out of the vicinity into a very remote place.

“I was thinking I would not even be able to get back but God raised up for me…people in the streets who could even be of assistance to me and I thank God that I came back and I started preaching again.”

Earlier this week, the Metropolitan Police said its local Professional Standards Unit was reviewing Mr Ilesanmi’s arrest after a complaint was made.

Footage of incident – viewed almost 2.4 million times online – draw concern for Christian public figures including the former MP David Burrowes.

The police force said Mr Ilesanmi was arrested “to prevent a breach of the peace” after “concerns” were raised about his behaviour. He was later de-arrested.

Teen Tithes $7,000 to Church after Making $35,000 in Four Days Plowing Snow

Teen Tithes $7,000 to Church after Making $35,000 in Four Days Plowing Snow

One Idaho teenager who made $35,000 in one week, decided to tithe $7,000 to his church “for the sole purpose of advancing the kingdom.”

According to CBN News, 18-year-old David Holston was visiting his mother in Seattle, Washington when the state was hit by a historic snowstorm of up to 10 inches. The Idaho teen – who is no stranger to the snow – decided that this would be a great opportunity to serve the community by offering his snow plowing services.

CBN News reports that the teen put an add up on Craig’s list and was flooded with calls from locals and businesses who were not equipped for the snow – a rare sighting in Seattle. Typically, Holston charges $125 and hour, but because the demand was so high, he raised his price to $500+.

The 18-year-old Idaho native told CBN that he would start his day at 2 a.m. and work 12 to 15 hours plowing driveways, parking lots and streets each day. By the end of the week, Holston had made $35,000 and he knew exactly how he wanted to spend it.

In an interview with Fox News, Holston shared that he wanted to tithe 20 percent of his earnings to his church, buy lawn mowing equipment for a potential new business venture and save the rest for buying his first house.

Holston also told the news outlet that it was only through Christ that he could have been so successful in his endeavor, noting that Luke 12:31

Wiltshire church expresses relief at Novichok all-clear

There were fears Amesbury Baptist Church might have been infected by the deadly nerve agent after it emerged one of the victims had attended a party there last July.

But, following an almost year-long decontamination by military personnel, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs formally handed over control of the twelve sites.

Church Secretary, Roy Collins told Premier the announcement drew “a think line” under months of activity by public health officials and others in the village.

Services resumed on the premises in October after a police cordon (pictured above) was lifted.

Mr Collins said: “Everything seems to be back to normal, the church is back, the businesses are back.

“It is reassuring that there’s no ongoing investigation. We can have less worries when we go out.”

Army Lieutenant General Ty Urch said: “I think our military personnel have demonstrated genuine courage.

“This is something which young girls and boys crossing the hot zone have never done before in their lives and it’s been an amazing demonstration of physical and mental courage.”

Pastor Who Died During Double Lung Transplant Says He Went to Heaven

Pastor Who Died During Double Lung Transplant Says He Went to Heaven

A Louisville pastor is grateful to be alive after dying during a life-saving double lung transplant.

Mike Olsen was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2014. Though he had never smoked, his lungs looked black and molded, which the doctors said was scar tissue from the damage caused by his fatal disease.

He underwent surgery in January to replace his damaged lungs, but then circumstances took a tragic turn. Olsen, the pastor of Iona Community Church, bled out after the doctors removed the last clamp. His wife updated friends and family members on Facebook, saying that “His body was not being properly oxygenated by his new lungs.” The doctors placed him in a medically induced coma.

After he came out of the coma and the doctors removed the ventilator, he told a friend that he, “Got to meet my donor and tell him thank you.”

Later, in a video posted to his Facebook page, he told the story of what he described as a trip to heaven. He said, “I saw these swirling lights and I heard this pattern of voices or something. And I just now realized what they were saying. They were saying, ‘Mike’s coming home. Mike’s coming home.’ And then I heard Jesus say, ‘It’s not his time. He’s just here for a visit.”

Olsen concluded with tears in his eyes, “Now it’s coming back to me like a story unfolding and I’m realizing I had a genuine…

Billy Graham film to go on UK Netflix

It will be the first time the film ‘Extraordinary Journey’ has been made available in the UK and follows his life from a farm boy to preaching to millions.

Billy Graham (1918-2018) was a world-famous evangelical preacher, most well-known for his passion for preaching the gospel at his Crusades.

The 72 minute video features rare footage and interviews with presidents, celebrities, family and close friends and was first aired in March 2018 on Fox Broadcasting.

It also covers a variety of historical events that occurred in his 99 years, including the Civil Rights Movement and 9/11.

Lee Searle, UK Director of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), said Graham would have approved: “He had a passion to see the Gospel shared by all means necessary. He pioneered the use of radio, ‘streamed’ his UK festivals down phone lines and was a regular on TV.

“It makes sense that we embrace Netflix and other streaming services to share the Good News.”

Searle added that the decision to upload the film is to reach people who aren’t as aware of him as their grandparents: “There is a place for the traditional methods”

“But we’ve seen a huge shift in the way people engage with the BGEA in the UK. We know that there is an audience out there, especially of younger people, who spend most of their viewing time on these subscription…

The secret intelligence network that defeated Hitler: Words change the world

Words saved the world.

William Stephenson was a World War I hero, businessman, inventor, and spymaster. Ian Fleming called him the “real thing” behind his James Bond character.

A Man Called Intrepid tells Stephenson’s incredible story (“Intrepid” was his code name). The book reads more like a novel than the historical narrative it is. Here we learn that early in World War II, Stephenson created a secret network that eventually involved thirty thousand intelligence experts. They worked behind enemy lines in Europe to provide intelligence to President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill.

These operatives were able to feed false information to German authorities, convincing them that D-Day would be launched at Calais rather than Normandy. This kept Hitler from committing forces that could have defeated the Allied invasion.

When the Germans began launching rockets into London, these intelligence spies fed the Nazis false data on where their rockets actually fell, saving thousands of lives. They helped the Allies free Niels Bohr from Nazi captivity, which kept the Germans from developing atomic weapons and helped America create the bombs that ended World War II.

These secret heroes did not fire weapons or drive tanks. They risked (and many gave) their lives to communicate words that helped defeat Hitler and save the world.

When Switzerland invaded Liechtenstein

A Florida congressman made news with a tweet directed at Michael Cohen, which the congressman later took down and for which he apologized. The Florida bar has now opened an investigation into whether the congressman, a licensed attorney in the state, violated professional conduct rules with his tweet.

Even wordless events require words to record and interpret them.

You may not know that on this day in 2007, Switzerland invaded Liechtenstein. A detachment of 170 Swiss infantrymen got lost on a training mission and accidentally crossed their…

Joyce Meyer Devotional 1 March 2019 — Receiving Correction

Topic: Receiving Correction [Joyce Meyer Devotional 1 March 2019]

A fool despises his father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent. — Proverbs 15:5

Ask yourself how you react to correction or criticism. Try to be honest in your evaluation. Confident people who have validated themselves as valuable can receive correction without anger or a defensive attitude. God says only a fool hates correction (see Proverbs 15:5). Why is that? Because he should be wise enough to want to learn everything he can about himself.

Confident people can listen objectively to another point of view. They can pray about what is said and either receive or reject it according to what God places in their heart.

During the years I was filled with shame and guilt, I could not receive even a tiny word of correction from my husband. If he said anything that even remotely suggested he felt I needed to change in any way, I became emotionally upset, angry, and defensive. Dave would repeatedly say, “I am only trying to help you.”

But I could not get past how I felt when I was given his or anyone else’s help. If I asked him whether he liked an outfit I was wearing, I would get defensive if he said no. I could not even allow him to give me his honest opinion. If his opinion did not agree with mine, I felt rejected. I am grateful that those days are over. Everyone does not have to like what I like in order for me to feel secure.

It is absolutely wonderful to be able to approve of ourselves, because we believe God approves of us, even though others do not. It is good to be humble enough to receive correction, yet confident enough not to let the opinions of others control us.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I truly want to learn and grow—to become more like you. Help me to be more confident—knowing that You love and accept me—so I won’t be controlled by the opinions of others. I also ask for Your grace to humbly receive correction when it’s needed from You or other people in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
