Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity” (1 Corinthians 13:13).

MESSAGE:

The world’s notion of love is at variance with heavenly love, which transcends the loose definition of love in its filial, limited and selfish perspectives. God-like love is what a writer calls “true love to God and man, a benevolent disposition of mind towards our fellow Christians, growing out of a sincere and perfect devotion to God”.

This chapter dwells on charity (love). It is meant to correct the wrong notion the Corinthian Christians had over the possession of spiritual gifts as “all in all”. The thrust of the message is that, a mere possession of those gifts does not necessarily portray a higher spiritual stand before God. Gifts not ministered with perfect love is vain and worthless. Love is a virtue that makes other gifts meaningful and useful. God is love, and if you would love, you must abide in Him and He in you.

The essential virtue, capable of producing the greatest impact with spiritual gifts is charity. What are its components? It is patient, kind, not inflated with its own importance. It does not brag and knows no enemy. It does not behave itself unseemly, neither is it temperamental. This charity rejoiceth in the truth, finds no pleasure in evildoing and does not hold on to memory of any wrong against it. It is all enduring absolutely trusting, bears everything with triumphant fortitude and never for once, cease to hope.

Every other gift will dry up and soon be forgotten. But love is convincingly permanent, overwhelmingly complete and incontrovertibly supreme. A writer once said that “faith without love is cold and hope without love is grim. Love is the fire which kindles faith and is the light which turns hope into certainty”.

Thought For The Day: Love is supreme; Jesus’ love proves this.

10.Father, go ahead of Your son Pastor E.A. Adeboye, and remove every stumbling block of the enemies, on his way, in Jesus name.

1 AS HE passed along, He noticed a man blind from his birth.
2 His disciples asked Him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?
3 Jesus answered, It was not that this man or his parents sinned, but he was born blind in order that the workings of God should be manifested (displayed and illustrated) in him.
4 We must work the works of Him Who sent Me and be busy with His business while it is daylight; night is coming on, when no man can work.

Bible In One Year: Numbers 11-13, Mark 5:21-43

MESSAGE:

There are two important appointments for everyone on earth: the appointment with death and life. If a fellow keeps the appointment with life which is through Jesus Christ, he will escape the appointment with death. But if a fellow misses the appointment with life, death becomes inevitable. This appointment leads to the worst life in eternity.

Nobody wishes to die young, but our wish does not stop young ones from dying. Jesus knew this, he knew that the time He had on earth was very limited (33 years), so He spent His days on earth doing the works of His Father. He didn’t go about chatting or sleeping, he went about doing good (Acts 10:38).

Don’t feel you are too young to make an impact in your world. Don’t say you don’t have time for evangelism. Do everything you can per time as you do not know what the next moment holds. You are not too young to preach in your church, Jesus started having deep Biblical conversations with Pastors before He was even a teenager (Luke 2:41-47). Do the work of your Father when you are still young and vibrant because what will count at the end of your stay on earth is how well you did.

Key Point:

You are not too young to start making an impact.

Today’s Scripture & Insight: Psalm 104:10-24

My life often feels frenzied and hectic. I hurry from one appointment to the next, returning phone calls and checking items off my seemingly infinite to-do list while on my way. Out of sheer exhaustion one Sunday, I collapsed into the hammock in our backyard. My phone was inside, as were my children and husband. At first I planned to sit for just a moment or two, but in the undistracted stillness, I began to notice things that invited me to linger longer. I could hear the creak of the hammock swinging gently, the buzz of a bee in the nearby lavender, and the flap of a bird’s wings overhead. The sky was a brilliant blue, and the clouds moved on the wind.

I found myself moved to tears in response to all God had made. When I slowed long enough to take in the many wonderful things within my eyesight and earshot, I was stirred to worship in gratitude for God’s creative power. The writer of Psalm 104 was equally humbled by the work of God’s hands, noting “you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor” (v. 13 nlt).

In the midst of a harried life, a quiet moment can remind us of God’s creative might! He surrounds us with evidence of His power and tenderness; He made both the high mountains and branches for birds. “In wisdom [He] made them all” (v. 24).

Today’s Reflection
Lord, Your creation amazes me. You made all things through Your limitless power, inviting us to enjoy the beauty You’ve surrounded us with. Help me to notice Your works and worship You in quiet moments.

Open Heaven 24 February 2019 Sunday MESSAGE:

The Holy Spirit often depicts the Christian life as a race. Stumbling blocks are obstacles place along the course of this race in order to trip people and bring them down as they try to reach the finishing line. Stumbling blocks are not meant for unbelievers; rather, they are deliberately designed as obstacles on the way of young or immature Christians that are not yet properly established in the Christian faith. In several portions of the Bible – fourteen to be precise – God speaks about stumbling blocks in very strong terms, as seen in today’s memory verse. The unfortunate thing about stumbling blocks is that even fellow believers can be used as stumbling blocks by the enemy. The question is, are you a stumbling block?

A common scene on the street of many Nigerian cities these days is law enforcement agents and traffic control officers rushing in on unsuspecting drivers to arrest them for breaking traffic laws. In some cases, you can easily tell from the vehicle number plates that such drivers are strangers who may not be conversant with certain traffic rules peculiar to that city. Often, the traffic signs showing these rules are well hidden in places that are not easily visible to naive drivers. These officials are usually well positioned to warn and educate these strangers about the rules before they break them, but they do not, preferring instead to prey on their ignorance. In the language of the Bible, such officers have made themselves stumbling blocks to these road users. The Bible speaks against being a stumbling block to your neighbor or putting on the way anything that may cause him or her to fall (Romans 14:13). Also, Romans 13:10 states that love does not commit evil against his neighbor. If indeed we are truly born again, we will find it extremely difficult to place obstacles on the way of anyone, especially children of God, being our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

God takes the issue of stumbling blocks very seriously. Children of God should stop messing around with fellow Christians. God is jealous for His people; remember that we were all bought with the precious Blood of Jesus. We are therefore precious in His sight. Anyone who tries to corrupt, mislead, deceive, outsmart, or trap a child of God is in danger of God’s judgment (Mark 9:42). No one should be identified as the reason for another’s fall. I decree in the Name that is above all other names that anyone setting you up for failure, downfall or problems shall be buried in the sea of life today in Jesus’ Name.

Father, please open my eyes to recognize any way I am being a stumbling block to others in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: The Fullness of Christ

And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all (Ephesians 1:22-23).

Our opening Scripture is so powerful, and so revealing. The Church is the fullness of Christ! That means we’re the completion of Christ; He’s the head, and we’re the body, and when you put us together, we’re the Christ in full. We’re the fullness of Him that fills everything. Blessed truth! I wish that all of God’s children would grasp this!

John 1:16 says, “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” We’ve received of His fullness. No wonder Jesus said in John 5:26, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself” ; He was talking about inherent life. He’s full of life; He’s all of life; all of divinity. God the Father doesn’t have any more life than Jesus has. Then, we read in John 1:16 that we have received of His fullness. He’s full of God, and that fullness has passed unto us, not in trickles, but in it’s entirety. If we had less life than He does, we’d not be the fullness of Him, because the Scripture says, “…the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all .” Each one of us is filled in Him, and with Him. You’re in Him, and He’s in you. This was God’s plan, idea, and dream from the foundation of the world, for us to be the fullness of Christ, and He accomplished it in Christ Jesus, and by sending the Holy Spirit to live in us.

The Church is a supernatural body; and you’re part of that body. You’re full of God, not sickness and disease. You might have been told that you came from a poor family, therefore, you may not really amount to much in life; but that can’t be, because you belong in another family; the family of Christ—the Church! And in Christ, you’re in wealth, splendour, prosperity, and glory. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I’ve got treasures in me! The glory of God is in me; the life of God is in me; the Word of God is working in me, and I’m the reflection of the Word of God. I’m filled with Christ, and as He is, so am I in this world! My life is a continuous manifestation of Christ and the supernatural! Blessed be God!
