The Strength of Faith By Pastor Paul Enenche

POWER COMMUNION SERVICE – 20TH FEBRUARY 2019
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): ROMANS 4:19-20
MESSAGE TOPIC: THE STRENGTH OF FAITH

SERVICE OBJECTIVE: Understanding what it takes to build strong faith.

Faith is measured by size and also measured by strength.

IN TERMS OF SIZE, THERE IS:
a. Little faith (Matt. 6:30; 8:26; 14:31)
b. Great faith (Matt. 8:10; 15:28)
IN TERMS OF STRENGTH, THERE IS:
i. Weak faith (Rom. 4:19; 14:1)
ii. Strong faith (Rom. 4:20)
The strength of your faith will determine the quality of your victory
The strength of your faith affects the size of your results.
It is not possible to have great results with little faith or little results with great faith.

RAW MATERIALS TO BUILD THE STRENGTH OF FAITH:

1. The Word of God (Rom. 10:8, 17; Heb. 11:3; John 1:1-5; Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11; Heb. 10:38; Acts 28:3-7)
This refers to the written word you read in the Bible
You cannot be wordless and be faith-filled.

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE WORD OF GOD AND THE STRENGTH OF FAITH:

i. Jesus Christ was the Word personified so He walked in the realm of faith unquantified (John 1:1-5)

ii. Paul the Apostle, a prolific man of the Word who wrote approximately half of the New Testament, was a man of raw faith (Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11; Heb. 10:38; Acts 28:3-7)
There is a realm of faith you will walk in that people looking at you will think you are not normal anymore because the things they do against you will not work.
Your conviction can terminate affliction without intercession

2. The Voice of God (Rom. 10:8, 17; Gen. 12:1-5; Ex. 3:1-10; Acts 27:22-26; John 10:27-28)

This refers to the Voice you hear while studying the Word, in meditation and encounters in the dream.

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE VOICE OF GOD AND THE STRENGTH OF FAITH:

i. Abraham, the father of faith was an expert in hearing God which launched him into the realm of drastic results (Gen. 12:1-5)

ii. Moses’ access to the Voice of God built in him the faith to confront pharaoh and deliver the children of Israel from captivity (Ex. 3:1-10)
Inside your spiritual authority is your spiritual receptivity
There is something you can hear from God that will turn your chicken heart into an eagle’s heart.

iii. Paul the Apostle’s access to the Voice of God in the midst of the storm gave him the faith for both his survival and the survival of those with him (Acts 27:22-26)
To hear the Voice of God is not a luxury; it guarantees that you are not easily wastable.

CAUTION: Be sure that the Voice bears witness with the Word of God and the Spirit of God

3. The Acts of God (Luke 1:34-38; 1Sam. 17:37; Ps. 119:99; Ex. 14:21; Josh. 3:15-16; 1Kings 17:19-21; 2Kings 4:32-35; Mark 5:40-42; Acts 9:40-41)

The testimonies of the acts of God are raw materials for the building of strong faith in God.
Meditating and thinking on that acts of God have the capacity of building strong faith

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ACTS OF GOD AND THE STRENGTH OF FAITH:

i. Joshua’s faith of parting the River Jordan must have been influenced by his observation of the parting of the Red Sea (Ex. 14:21; Josh. 3:15-16)

ii. Elisha’s faith and approach for the raising of the dead must have been inspired by Elijah’s action of raising the dead (1Kings 17:19-21; 2Kings 4:32-35)

iii. Peter’s faith for the raising of the dead must have been influenced by his observation of how Jesus raised Jairus’ daughter (Mark 5:40-42; Acts 9:40-41)
The acts of God have reproductive capability
The acts of God inflame the faith of men

4. The Love of God (Gal. 5:6; 1Cor. 13:7; Matt. 14:14; 2Kings 4:22-30; Luke 7:2-9)
Love is a strengthener and potentiator of faith.

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE LOVE OF GOD AND THE STRENGTH OF FAITH:

i. Jesus Christ was love personified so He became faith exemplified (Matt. 14:14)

ii. The Shunamite woman’s love for her child had a hand in the resurrection of that child (2Kings 4:22-30)

iii. The Roman centurion whose servant was healed by the power of faith through love (Luke 7:2-9)
You cannot be love-filled and be faithless; the intensity of your love affects the intensity of your faith
Anything you do to build passion and compassion in your heart will build your faith

PRAYER:

Father, thank You for Your Word to me tonight. I receive Your help for greater access into the Word of God and the Voice of God and greater value for the Acts of God. I receive Your Help to walk in a greater dimension of the Love of God, that the Love of God shall be spread abroad in my heart. I receive deliverance from every trace of hatred Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

COMMUNION FOCUS:

Communion of freedom, liberty and total deliverance. This communion will herald the grace to access the opening of Scripture, that your ears will be open to hear Him, your eyes open to know him; the love of God will be spread abroad in your heart

When Leaders Fail: The Process for Handling Sexual Abuse in the Church — Sam Rainer

Too many individual churches took the path of “we don’t want to hurt the entire congregation with this issue” and hid the abuse or dismissed accusations. Satan uses this line of thinking to continue the horrors. Jesus left the ninety-nine to go find the one. Protecting one is the same as protecting the entire church. What can you do? What can your church do? You may not be part of the SBC, but you can be prepared to act.

Pastors Want Broad Approach to Illegal Immigration — Facts & Trends

As U.S. lawmakers continue to debate the best approach to illegal immigration, most Protestant pastors say the solution should be multifaceted. Nashville-based LifeWay Research surveyed 1,000 Protestant pastors on their views on illegal immigration and how the church should view those in the country illegally. 70 percent of pastors say they are in favor of an immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for those who are currently in the country illegally. Seventeen percent disagree and 13 percent are not sure.

How to Jump Back In to Bible ReadingTed Olsen

Many times the Holy Spirit really does use Scripture to illuminate our sin and to make us deeply uncomfortable. It is, after all, “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16). And “no discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful” (Heb. 12:11). Nevertheless, my experience with reading…

Christian peer calls for abortion parental notification law after Coronation Street plot

Wednesday’s episode of Coronation Street saw schoolgirl Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), 14, have an abortion without her parent’s knowledge.

A number of viewers took to social media to question if a plot error had been made, believing the youngster would have needed parental consent due to her age.

However, as the As the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) states online, Amy’s story line could play out in real life.

Underage girls can have an abortion in the UK without parental involvement, and that parents have no legal right to be informed or consulted about their child’s abortion.

The BPAS website states: “Although we won’t talk with your parents against your wishes, we will encourage you involve a parent or other trusted adult who can support you through the treatment process.

“We don’t force young people to tell their parents or carers. Our staff will make sure that you are fully aware of what is involved with abortion treatment.”

Crossbench Christian peer, Lord Alton of Liverpool, said: “As a parent myself I can understand why parents around the country have been shocked to learn that their child can be taken away to an abortion clinic for a secret abortion without parents being involved.

“Polling shows a large majority of parents want a law change on this. It’s now time for Parliament to begin steps to introduce a parental notification law that will…

Christian group tells Ofsted to focus on ‘quality of education, not identity politics’

The Christian Institute said in a statement that the Government inspectorate has an “obsession with forcing primary school children to learn about same-sex relationships”.

The criticism comes as the head of Ofsted, Amanda Spielman defended school lessons on same-sex relationships.

Speaking to the BBC, Spielman said the lessons were “about making sure they [children] know just enough to know that some people prefer not to get married to somebody of the opposite sex and that sometimes there are families that have two mummies or two daddies”.

She added: “It’s about making sure that children who do happen to realise that they themselves may not fit a conventional pattern know that they’re not bad or ill.”

Both Christian and Muslim parents have raised concerns that the lessons are not age-appropriate and undermine their religious beliefs that hold marriage is a lifelong union between a male and female.

Colin Hart, director of The Christian Institute, said: “Amanda Spielman’s remarks today are not going to help.

PA

“It’s LGBT issues that we always seem to be hearing about. Parents want Ofsted to ensure the quality of education. They don’t want Ofsted side-tracked into identity politics.

“The fact that same-sex marriage exists is something that can be covered in secondary schools. Not every controversial issue has to be…

Bishops urge politicians to accept results

The country’s electoral commission cancelled them last week, just as the polls were about to open.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) blamed logistical problems for the delay, denying political pressure.

In a statement titled “Welcome to a New Nigeria”, the council’s spokesman for Africa, Bishop Seun Adeoye said: “A lot of issues have been raised about Nigeria’s general election and the day is here.

“When two or more people contest in an election, only one person will definitely be declared as the winner. This should be the mindset of all politicians.

“[We] therefore urge politicians to accept the outcome of the results of the election in the spirit of sportsmanship. We should not drag the country to unnecessary crisis. War is costly. Nigeria must not go to war.

“We also call on President Muhammad Buhari to build on the legacy built by former President Goodluck Jonathan who we are proud of and who showed a trait of a good Christian by accepting the results of the 2015 presidential election.”

The winner is likely to be either Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari or opposition challenger Atiku Abubakar. Both are Muslim with Christian…

Church votes to step up efforts to tackle climate change

The church’s governing body, the General Synod, voted in favour of a motion on Friday which called for dioceses to focus on reducing their environmental impact.

The Synod voted overwhelmingly for the motion, with 279 supporting it, three opposing and four abstaining.

Enid Barron of the Diocese of London, who put forward the motion, told the Synod: “The church can be a very effective ambassador for climate change.”

The Bishop of Truro, Philip Mounstephen, praised the recent climate protests of schoolchildren, who he said had been “chided” by politicians and “patronised” by political commentators.

He added: “I do not want to chide them or patronise them. I want to say that I am 100 per cent with them.”

The move includes a commitment for every diocese to have an environmental programme which is led by a member of the bishop’s staff.

The Church will also focus on ways to reduce its own C02 usage in order to help meet its target of reducing emissions by 80 per cent by 2050.

John Giles/PA Wire

Despite receiving overwhelming support, Prudence Daley of the Diocese of Oxford criticised the motion, saying any efforts of the church would be “the tiniest, tiniest drop in the ocean” and no resources should be wasted on the endeavour.

She told the assembly at Church House in central London: “If we all do a little, together we will do a little.”

CofE unanimously backs plan to create new churches on housing estates

The church’s annual assembly voted in favour of a proposal which would urge dioceses to include evangelism on housing estates in their plans for the future.

The Bishop of Burnley and head of the estates evangelism task group, Philip North, said the idea was: “To have a loving, serving, worshipping Christian community on every significant social housing estate in the nation.

“To plant back in the estates we have abandoned, to better support our presence in the places where we’re struggling.”

Around one in five of the Church of England’s 12,500 parishes are thought to be “estates parishes”, meaning they have more than 500 social housing units.

But one clergy member warned that such a big undertaking would require working with other partners and services.

Reverend Rosemarie Mallett, who works in a parish in Angell Town, in Brixton, said: “In the estate, the work that I have been able to do with young people has been because of the work in partnership with our school, the school is at the heart of the community.

“If we think we must do this by ourselves, we will struggle.

“We need to find partners in the gospel, and partners in social action.”

On Thursday, the General Synod voted to reverse the 400-year-old rule that all churches must hold a weekly Sunday service.

Happy Family (Part 3) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Happy Family (Part 3) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Happy Family (Part 3)

Dear Reader

Welcome to the third in this series. Last week, I taught on the issue of finance in the family. We understand that Christ is the source of lasting joy in the home which results into happiness in the family and also the love which binds the husband and wife together. However, a stable and balance financial status in the home can’t give complete happiness without raising godly children. Nurturing your seed in a godly way, that is in the fear of the Lord, is another way a family can experience happiness. One reason why God makes husband and wife one in spirit and flesh is because their union is supposed to produce godly seeds. Although, it is true that God commanded man to multiply and replenish the earth, His cardinal reason for childbearing is to raise up godly seeds unto Him. However, if having godly children makes a happy family, then there must be godly parents to make it a reality.

Also Read: Maintaining Spiritual Fervency in Marriage (Part 3) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

The Bible says: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). The scripture makes it very clear that there is a way each child should go, and parents have a responsibility to locate that way and train them up in it. The promise attached to that scripture is that when the children are old they will not depart from that way. Aside from when they are grown, even when they are still growing, they give you peace at home. Parents must bear it in mind that the children of today are the adults of tomorrow; they constitute the future generation. There is an adage that says “You can only train a child but correct an adult”. One mistake parents often make is to assume that the church, society or school is responsible for the training of their children. Although these institutions have definite contributions to make towards it, the home has a larger percentage of the responsibilities, one reason being that growing children spend a greater percentage of their time at home.

For happiness to be complete in the family, there are roles each party must play to see godly children raised in the family and I will be sharing these roles in this series:

The role of the mother in raising godly children: The Bible says: A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother (Proverbs 15:21). I believe that the training of a child is the responsibility of both parents, but the mother has a larger part to play because mothers have a lot of influence over their children. Mothers have special attributes which are linked up directly with their children which are the breasts and womb. The children are nurtured in the wombs of the mother and fed from their breasts. So, I admonish mothers to see their special place in the nurturing of their children. They should spend quality time with their children to see to it that they grow in the wisdom and stature of Christ. Most women spend so much time in business or careers while neglecting their children. They leave very early in the morning and return late at night particularly those in the cities. Such lifestyle yields a minimal result in the life of the children because the mother has shied away from the responsibility of nurturing her children. Such a mother is not set to fulfill God’s instruction to raise godly seeds unto Him.

Raising godly children is an instruction from God to parents which has to be obeyed because …children are the heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward (Psalm127:3). Grace to obey this God-given instruction is only available when you accept Jesus Christ and become born again. If you are yet to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, please say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily; obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21). With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ name! The Miracle of Salvation by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

The Miracle of Salvation by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Topic: The Miracle of Salvation

Miracles are the divine interventions of God provoked by the desperate faith if men. It is the supernatural manifestation of God’s power in our daily lives. It is something that cannot happen by human means; it is unexplainable and does not follow natural principles. Miracles are simply the supernatural taking over the natural.

The word “Salvation” comes from a Greek word “soteria” which means the act of delivering from sin and saving from evil. It is the same as redemption. Man cannot save himself from sin or deliver himself from evil. Man needed God to rescue him from sin and evil; as a result, God sent His Son (Jesus) to save man from sin — this is Salvation.

Also Read: Rendering Financial Services by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Salvation is the best miracle to a lost soul (sinner) and until you are born again, you cannot have access to heaven. Nothing can save a man outside of Christ. Soul winning is an effective tool for salvation. Everything in life is connected to a source; being ignorant of the source will definitely divert its benefits from you. JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF ETERNAL LIFE and until you accept Him, life will be full of crisis. You cannot understand God through human philosophy or thinking, but through Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:13-14 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Soul winning is engaging a sinner in a talk with the intention of winning him or her to Christ; it is sharing, from God’s Word, God’s plan of salvation with him so that he believes and clearly understands how he may receive Christ as his Saviour and have eternal life. Simply put, soul winning is leading a person (sinner) to Christ (Who can save anybody).

Mark 16:15-16 (KJV) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Engaging in soul winning is very vital because, it initiates the process of reconciling the lost souls to Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (KJV) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Soul winning is not just for Pastors and Evangelists but for every (born again) Christian. Soul winning is our general assignment as children of God.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (KJV) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

An ambassador is someone appointed by the government of a given nation and sent to represent the nation in a foreign land; he upholds the interest of his nation.

In this light, as a believer, you are here for the interests of our home country — heaven; which is reconciling sinners to God. God has placed upon man a high level of value because man is the only creature that replicates the image of God and because of this value, He took upon Him the form of man; came down to deliver man.

John 1: 14 (KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Your value for human life is an expression of your love for God and this can be clearly shown when you engage in soul winning. Soul winning should be your top priority and value; when you make it your delight, you will become a delightsome personality. Soul winning is the heartbeat of God and a responsibility of every Christian as an ambassador of Christ. The ministry and lesson of Jesus should be your focus.

God bless you.
