Your Tree and its Fruits

Your Tree and its Fruits By Dr T.E Shobiye [PR]

Text: Seeing a fig tree by the road, HE went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then He said to it, “May you never bear fruit again” Immediately the tree whispered,” (Matt 21: 19) NIV.

Biblical, human beings are being described as a tree that consists of root, body and fruit, (Due 20:19). According to Jacobson (2015) human beings are like a tree in the field that operates in three levels which are the root (who we are), the trunk (who we think we are) and the fruit (who others think we are). As Christians, we have been appointed as trees to go and bear fruits by Jesus Christ, Our Saviour (John 15:16). Therefore, we are called to bear good fruits in order not be cut off like a Fig tree. God Almighty does not dwell in a tree that is not productive, (John 15:2 & Matt 7:19).

Types of fruits

There are two types of fruits which our tree can either produce. These are:
(1) Fruits of the Holy Spirit and
(2) Fruits of the flesh/ physical acts, (Gal 5:19-26).

The kinds of fruits Jesus Christ expects us to bear are the fruits of Holy Spirit which stated in Gal: 5:22. These are fruits of: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In addition to fruits of the Holy Spirit, we are also expected to carry fruit of the light (Eph 5:9), fruit of righteousness (Phil 1:11), fruit of lips that proclaim/confess the Name of Jesus Christ (Heb 13:15), fruit of impartial and sincere (James 3:17). On the other hand, if our trees are not producing fruits of Holy Spirit, it will be producing opposite which is fruits of flesh such as “sexual immorality, impurity, witchcraft, hatred, lies, envy, orgies…” as mentioned in Gal 5:19-20. In other words, If a tree is bearing the fruits of flesh such a tree is an empty tree without fruits and it can be cut off like fig tree at any time at the visitation of Most High God, (Luke 13:6-7).

Name of a Tree

However, having identified types of fruits, what is the name of your tree? The Bible says by their fruits, we shall know them (Matt 7:16). Jesus Christ says that “A tree is recognised by its fruits,” (Matt 13:33). In this regard, the kind of fruit a tree produces spell the name of a tree. For instance, a tree that produces mangoes is called mango tree. Likewise, the names or trademarks of our trees are known to the world through the fruits that come from our actions, emotion, attitudes, behaviour and character. Laurie (2010) states that our character and outlook show types of fruits in our trees. Our attitudes, behaviour, emotion and character (tree) speak about the fruits we are producing. For example, as a result of the fruits that the Pharisees produced were the reasons Jesus Christ called the tree of the Pharisees as arrogant, murderers, liars, robbers, self-centres, greed, covetousness, and evildoers, (Luke 11 :39-53 & Matt 23: 1-37). In view of this, our fruits also pronounce our tree names to the world through our behaviour. The fruits we are producing determine if we are disciples of Jesus, (Jone, 2003). Meanwhile, the fruits the disciples produced in Antioch were the major reasons their tree was called Christians, (Acts 11:20-21). Moreover, it was fruits of love and kindheartedness that Dorcas’ tree produced that revived her from the shadow of death, (Acts 9:36-43). Similarly, it was fruits of love and kindness produced by a tree of the centurion that saved his servant from death because elder of Jew told Jesus that this man deserved His visits because he loved their country, and he built a synagogue for them…, (Luke 7:1-10).

Nevertheless, people are not reading the Bible this day, but watch the fruits that come from our trees of attitudes, behaviour, character and action. For example, when a person leaves an organisation, his/her co-workers either happy or sad and this may be due to the fruit such person’s tree has produced while working with such organisation (Proverbs 11:10). Sometimes, we as Christians know the kinds of fruits our trees produce while some are not known to us but are known by others. People get to know the fruits our trees produce by the information we give out about our trees and through the effects of our behaviour, reaction, emotion, character towards others. When people tell us kinds of fruits our trees are producing, these are referred to feedback from the effects of our behaviour, action, emotion and reaction. Mulder (2017) observes that the best way of confronting and correcting someone on his/her behaviour is by telling the person such behaviour which is feedback. At times, some people strongly disagree or fail to acknowledge when they are being told about fruits their trees produce, especially, if their fruits are the fruits of the flesh, (Matt 12:33). This is a case of Jesus Christ and Pharisees when Jesus was telling the truth to the Pharisees about kinds of flesh fruits their tree are producing and by hearing these fruits, the Pharisees were furious and strongly disagreed, but these fruits of flesh reflected in their behaviour, character and attitudes, (Luke 11:38-53 & Matt 23: 1-37).

Identification of Fruits from the Tree

There are some fruits that our trees produce, which we keep to ourselves as secret from others, particularly if such fruits come from the fruits of flesh/physical acts. There are some fruits we are not noticed in our trees which are also unknown to others. There is one model called “Johari Window,” is a model which was developed by Joseph Luften and Harry Ingham in 1955. The name, Johari was the combination of Joseph (Jo) & Harry (Hary) names. According to Saxena (2015:134), Johari window was created for self-disclosure and feedback model of self-awareness. The model deals with giving and receiving information how we view ourselves and how others view our behaviour, attitudes, reaction, feeling, skills and emotion. Beganu & Nitan (2017:1) explain that Johari window is referred as a communication window which we provide and receive information both about ourselves and the others.
The window is divided into four regions which are:
(1) Open Self
(2) Blind Self
(3) Hiding Self
(4) Unknown Self
The below figure shows the Johari Window Model

Figure1: Johari window
Adapted from: Williams (2015)

In a similar manner, Johari Window will be applied to illustrate how fruit is identified/ recognised.

(1) Open Self: Akewukereke & Ibitoye (2008:2) describe this first region as the part of our lives that we know about and that is seen and acknowledge by others as well. This consists of where we live, family, personal appearance, capabilities and qualification. Likewise, some people really know the kinds of fruits that come from their trees while others are aware of such fruits as well due to their behaviour, emotion and physical appearance. For instance, some people are shot-tempers because any little thing, they get upset and this fruit is also known by others. For example, Martha knew that she gets upset on any little thing easily and Jesus Christ knew about when He visited her and Mary, (Luke 10:41). Nabal, the first husband of Abigail knew that his tree was full of fruits of wickedness and foolishness and his wife, Abigail knew about it. David and people who were working for Nabal knew about these fruits, (1Sam: 25: 1-36). Before Paul met Jesus Christ on his journey to Damascus, Paul knew that his tree was producing fruits of blasphemer, persecutor and ferocious, (Acts 8:1-9 & 1 Tim 1:13-14) also the disciples knew Paul with such fruits and it was hard for them to believe that he was a changed person not until Barnabas told them about Paul’s encountered with Jesus on his journey to Damascus, (Acts 9: 26-30).

(2) Blind Self. This contains things about ourselves which we do not know, but others know about us with profound clarity, (Mulder, 2017). Some people do not aware of their behaviour, qualities, skills and actions but these are known to others. Williams (2015) suggests that it is a good thing to be surrounded with people who are not afraid to give us their raw opinions about ourselves not yes-men/women who only tell us what we want to hear. In a similar fashion, there are some people who do not know that their trees produce certain fruits while others take note of such fruits. For example: Nathalie, one of the disciples of Jesus did not know that his fruits also produced fruit of honesty until Jesus told him that “here is a true Israelite in whom there is nothing false,” (John 1:47). Peter did not know that he had the fruit of disowning until Jesus told him (Luke 22:31-34) thereafter, Peter disowned Jesus, (Luke 22:54-62).

(3) Hidden Self. Akewukereke & Ibitoye (2008:3) indicate that this is the part of our lives that we know but is hidden from others. Williams (2015) argues that this part consists of our hiding secret that are leading to feelings of shame, guilt or remorse. Generally speaking, this area contains our secret thoughts, feelings, fears, pride, dislike, shame and things that we refuse to share. In a similar manner, there are some people who are hiding certain fruits from their trees especially, if they are all fruits of flesh/physical acts. Such people believe that if others know about such fruits, they may be rejected, attacked and hurt in the society. It is the help of the Holy Spirit that can reveal hiding and secret fruits. For example: it was the Holy Spirit that revealed to Peter the fruit of deception in Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11). It was God Almighty that exposed the fruit of stealing in Achan to Joshua (Joshua 7:1-26). It was the Holy Spirit that revealed the fruit of adultery committed by David to Nathan the priest (2 Samuel 12:1-13). It was Holy Spirit who exposed fruits of lies, covetousness, fraudulent and corruption in Gehazi to Elisha (2 King 5:1-22).

(4) Unknown Self. This part of window is about our hidden talent, natural abilities/potential which is unknown to us and to others, (Williams, 2015). On one hand, this indicates that there are some fruits we have in our trees, but we do not aware of and neither other aware of such fruits either. It is the Holy Spirit that can reveal the fruits of Unknown self to us and others. For instance; Elisha did not know that he would become a prophet likewise Elijah did not know that God had prepared somebody that would replace him not until God Almighty instructed him to go and anoint Elisha (1 King 19:9-21). Also, Samuel did not know that David was the one the Sovereign God had chosen as the king and likewise David did not know until God Almighty told Samuel to anoint David, (1 Sam 16: 1-13). It was God Almighty that told Moses that He had filled Bezalel son of Uri with the Spirit of God, skill, ability and knowledge…, (Ex 31:1-5).

Conclusion and Recommendation

Based on the above discussion, the places we are visiting and the people will are mingling with determine if our trees will be producing fruit of Holy Spirit. If we are in the rightful place or in the gathering of good brethren, our fruits will produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit, like a man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked people but delights in the words of God…(Psalm 1:1-3). To be a good tree that bears good fruits, we must be in line with God Almighty. This is the reason Jesus Christ says “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself…” (John 15:4). Had it been that Judas was always with Jesus our Saviour like three inner circles Peter, John and James, he would not have been perished and missed heaven. The word of God says we should not forsake the assembly of brethren, (Heb 10:25). There is benefit in the gathering of brethren, it prevents falling away or backsliding as well encourages one another, it builds and holds fast each other because iron sharpens iron (Prov 27:17 & 1The5:1). As a matter of fact, Judas’ tree would have produced good fruits as well useful and effective in the kingdom of God if he was always with other disciples but Judas was always visiting Pharisees. Bad company corrupts good character, (1Con15:33).

Above all, for us not be cut off like Fig tree, we need to ask Holy Spirit to purge and flush the fruits of flesh/physical acts from our trees and forsake all our fruits of flesh (Isa 55:7, Prob 28:13, 1 John 1:9, & 1 Peter 2 :11). We must let the words of God be our favourite meal to guide our trees to produce good fruits, (Joshua 1:9) as well obey whatever we have read, “Blessed are those that hear and obey the words,” (Luke 11:28). Through the help of Holy Spirit will can emulate the attitudes of Jesus Christ to produce a good fruit from our tree. Mostly, fruits of flesh are produced from our trees as a result of what we have planted with our minds like lying, fraud, robbery, and backbiting. Jesus Christ says, “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. “For out of the heart come evil thoughts: murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony and slander,” (Matt 15:1019). Adeboye (2019) discovers that unjust thinking is the main cause of many atrocities that are committed in the society while thinking justly saves people from involving in illicit acts. In short, we need to always allow positive thinking in our minds in order for our trees to produce good fruits. With positive thinking we can emulate the attitudes of Jesus Christ our Saviour. The Bible says “Whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things, (Phil 4:8). May Sovereign God Almighty help our trees to always produce the fruits of Holy Spirit not the fruits of flesh In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Action quote: “Make a commitment to show kindness no matter how frustrating things get during the day and if you realise you have hurt someone, apologize to that person,” by Gary Chapman.

Bishop laments ‘devastating’ loss of Honda plant in Swindon

Rt Rev Vivienne Faull said the car giant’s announcement will affect “thousands of others” in addition to the site’s 3,500-strong workforce.

The Bishop of Bristol said: “The decision by Honda to close its Swindon operations is a devastating blow for the town.

“We think of not just the 3,500 people who face the prospect of redundancy, but also the thousands of others who will be affected by the plant’s closure.”

Honda revealed the site, which produces 150,000 vehicles every year, will close at the end of the current model’s production lifecycle.

Steve Parsons/PA Wire

A statement by the firm said: “This proposal comes as Honda accelerates its commitment to electrified cars, in response to the unprecedented changes in the global automotive industry.

“The significant challenges of electrification will see Honda revise its global manufacturing operations, and focus activity in regions where it expects to have high production volumes.”

Business Secretary Greg Clark added his concern, describing the move as a “devastating decision for Swindon and the UK”.

Bishop Vivienne invited affected families to uses their local church as a “place to reflect”. She said…

Protest to demand freedom of ‘courageous’ girl held a slave for refusing to denounce faith

The protest is being organised outside the Nigeria High Commission by Christian campaigners, exactly one year since Leah Sharibu’s disappearance in the north-eastern town of Dapchi.

Chief executive of Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), Mervyn Thomas said: “Leah Sharibu has now been in the hands of [a] violent sect for 365 days and we are deeply concerned by the lack of government action to secure her release.”

The 15-year-old was among 110 schoolgirls abducted from their classrooms on 19th February 2018. Leah was the only Christian among the group.

Leah’s classmates were subsequently released, following negotiations involving the Nigerian government.

Aid to the Church in Need

But the teenager remained in captivity for refusing to renounce her Christian faith – an explicit precondition of her release.

Mervyn Thomas from CSW added: “We continue to call on the government of Nigeria to do everything in its power to expedite the release of this courageous schoolgirl…”

Leah is being held by Islamic State West Africa Province – a faction of the jihadist group Boko Haram which is aligned with…

Joyce Meyer Devotional 19 February 2019 — A Natural Expression of Thanksgiving

Topic: A Natural Expression of Thanksgiving [Joyce Meyer Devotional 19 February 2019]

O turn to me and have mercy and be gracious to me; grant strength (might and inflexibility to temptation) to Your servant…. — Psalm 86:16 (AMPC)

Thanksgiving can be a part of who we are deep down in our hearts; it is a type of prayer and it should flow out of us in a natural way that is simple and genuine.

Being thankful does not mean merely sitting down at the end of a day, trying to remember everything we need to be thankful for because we think we have to thank God in order to make Him happy, or to satisfy some spiritual requirement, or try to get Him to do something else for us.

Instead, it means having a heart that is sensitive to God’s presence in our everyday lives, and just breathing out grateful prayers of thanksgiving every time we see Him working in our lives or blessing us.

Prayer Starter: Father, I am thankful that prayer is not some ritual or formula that I am required to follow. I am grateful that prayer is a comfortable, ongoing conversation with You based on an intimate relationship with You. I love You, Father, and I am excited to give You thanks all day long. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Maintaining Spiritual Fervency in Marriage (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Maintaining Spiritual Fervency in Marriage (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Maintaining Spiritual Fervency in Marriage (Part 2)

Dear Reader,

Welcome to another exciting time in God’s presence. Let’s start by reminding ourselves that God instituted marriage and He intends every home to be sweet and peaceful. Most Christians dream of sweet home, a place where joy, peace, prosperity and fruitfulness abound, but they are not ready to pay the price it takes for their dreams to find fulfilment. That is why I want to show you some keys to maintaining spirituality and fulfilling marital experience.

Prayer

Prayer is a very vital tool in the home. As a married man or woman, you have a higher level of unity with your spouse than any two friends can ever have. Your union is recognised and sanctioned by God; so, when you offer prayers to God on any issue at all, He honours your request. The Word of God says: Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 18:19). The key word in the verse quoted above is “agree”. When a man and his wife agree, tremendous power is released for the accomplishment of their desires. But if they do not agree, their prayers are hindered (1 Peter 3:7). So, one of the reasons the enemy puts disagreement between couples is so that he could rob them of this prayer advantage. The Word of God says, And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). God, your spouse and you form a three-fold cord that is not quickly broken. So, as you cooperate with God to establish His purpose for marriage in your home, He honours your family, by ensuring that whatever you desire concerning your home and children is established.

Also Read: Happy Family (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Also, prayer can bring that change you have long awaited in your home. Elisha was an ordinary human being like you and me, but with prayer, he was able to change the climate conditions of a nation as and when desired. Maybe you have been going through a season of drought and dryness in your home, earnest, heartfelt prayers can change it to a season of refreshing, fruitfulness and plenty. Your prayers can bring changes to the lives of your spouse and children because the Bible says: For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy (1 Corinthians 7:14).

Consider this sister’s testimony: “When we were preparing for the Women’s Convention, I prayed to God and told Him I wanted my own family renewed. My husband was not saved then, and I did not want to be called the wife of an unbeliever again. So, I told God that, and He did a great thing in my life. God changed my husband! During one of the all-night prayer meetings, my husband decided to go with me to the church. He gave his life to Christ that day, and has now stopped smoking! He is a brand new person! – Efemuaye, L.

Why not take advantage of this powerful weapon of prayer? You will see every unpleasant situation in your marriage and home turn around for good. God is on your side!

Word Study

Another way you can obtain power is through Word study. Locate what the Word of God says concerning any issue of your life and home. God has made available His Word to you, but you must be able to sit down and locate your place in it. The Word of God says: And I wept much because no man was found to open and to read the book… (Revelation 5:4). Until the book is opened, weeping continues. God is not moved by your tears; He is moved by His Word. You can neither use your tears to harass God nor bribe Him by weeping. You only gain access to His blessings by the understanding and application of His Word. Fill your heart with the Word of truth. Let the Word of God be your guiding light. Open the Book and let every shame roll away. Enough of guesswork, enough of trials and errors. Invest in anointed books of proven men of God whose lives and testimonies are real; sit down and devour them. Saturate your spirit-man with the Word of God. The Word of God says: Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). The only way to avoid shame is to study. If you don’t want reproach to continually hang around you, study. God says the only way out of shame is to study and apply yourself to the Word of truth. Are you having problems in any area of life? Sit down with your Bible and anointed books, devour them to find solutions to the problems you are experiencing.

Friend, it’s time to retrace your steps to the study of the Word of God. Shame is not a thing of glory; it is a reproach. There is no testimony in shame; don’t allow it to hang around you any further. Delve into the Word of God today and be free from every form of shame. Fix your eyes on the Word. In the natural, if you fix your eyes on a particular object consistently for a long time, the object tends to look bigger in your eyes. The more you look at the object, the bigger it seems. It’s the same with the Word of God. As you keep your focus on the Word, it is magnified more than your physical problems, and eventually, it swallows up these problems one by one until you see them no more. So, as you focus on the Word, keep meditating on what you have seen; apply it to your situation and circumstances, and let those words form a pattern for your living. I see you moving from glory to glory this year in your home and family, in Jesus’ name!

You need to give your life to Christ in order to have access to true power. If you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, then say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are born again and now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Commit To Your Assignment by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Commit To Your Assignment by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Commit To Your Assignment

When you are committed to your course, you are bound to be distinguished. When your assignment becomes a task to you, all your senses will come alive

Your assignment requires total focus. Many persons are waiting for things to happen on their own. When you are truly committed to your assignment, you will become creative. When you are creative, you become productive, which guarantees success.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV) Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…

Do not give a casual approach to your assignment. You must be committed to your work at hand; that is the way to distinction. Responsibility is the price for greatness. Never pursue what you are not committed to. Prayer is no substitute to commitment. If you are a trader, be committed to selling. If you are a student, be committed to your studies. As a business man, you should be committed to your business. Whatever you are doing, be committed to it.

Also Read: Refuse Failure by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Anyone uncomfortable with your assignment is not qualified to be close to you. Anybody who does not respect your assignment should be far from you, else, your assignment will suffer a decline.

There is nothing extraordinary on its own; it is man’s input with commitment that makes it so. Everybody wants to be a star but nobody can become a star without a scar. Without commitment to your assignment, your stardom will never be a reality. It is commitment to your assignments that makes you a star. Whatever you do, be committed to it and you will lead others in your field. Do not go to work any time you like and close whenever you like; be principled and committed to your assignment. Committed people are tied to their assignments. If you do what others are doing, then you will be confined to where they are. If you want to beat them, then you have to go extra mile. Nothing can change without your input so sit up!

To improve in your assignment, learn from the best, not from average people. The world is full of lazy people; if you are committed, you will beat them. Do not use religion to cover up; be committed! Many are committed to God, but not to their assignment. So, they come to church very well, serve God very well but end up as failures; thus making their Christianity look like mockery. This is because the commitment is lopsided. How can you use your work time in the office to read Bible? Are you employed to read Bible? You should have read your Bible at home. Please be serious with your assignment.

Joseph worked for king Pharaoh yet he was committed to his work. Joseph knew when to work and when to carry out his religious activity. I do not play with my assignment. When I want to preach, one would think I want to carry out a research with a tertiary institution. You find different books around me on the subject. When I am working, I don’t play because it is my assignment. Nobody will take you seriously if you do not take your assignment seriously.

You must take decision and action not to play with your assignment. Without a price of commitment, there can be no prize of distinction. Receive Grace to be committed to your assignment from today in Jesus Name. Amen!

God bless you.

The Profitability of Faith By Pastor Paul Enenche

IMPARTATION SERVICE – 17TH FEBRUARY 2019
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): HEBREWS 11:6
MESSAGE TOPIC: THE PROFITABILITY OF FAITH
BY: DR. PAUL ENENCHE

SERVICE OBJECTIVES:

  1. Understanding the profit of faith
  2. Understanding access to faith

Faith is doorway to spiritual rewards and profit.
We do not believe God in vain (Isa. 45:19)

THINGS TO NOTE:

  1. Faith attracts substantial evidence of the reality of God into the life of the believer (Heb. 11:1)
  2. You cannot be in faith and be without proofs
  3. Faith is what makes the Word of God profitable (Heb. 4:2)
It is possible to have religion without reality but you cannot have faith without reality

THE PROFITABILITY OF FAITH:

  1. Faith is key to power (Acts 6:8; 2Thess. 1:11; 1Pet. 1:5; Mark 5:28-38)
The presence of faith is the presence of power; the fullness of faith is the fullness of power
Those who walk in faith never beg for power
Faith people are movers and shakers because of the availability of power
  2. Faith is key to glory (John 11:40; 1Pet. 1:8; Mark 10:27; Mark 9:23)
The faith realm is the glory realm
Faith moves people to the realm of God, that is the realm of possibilities (Mark 10:27; 9:23)
Life becomes glorious when faith is alive
  3. Faith is key to the Blessing (Gal. 3:9; 13-14; Ps. 27:13)
Faith connects a person to the Blessing
To believe or to have faith is to see the goodness of the Lord; faith is a doorway to the blessing
Faith moves you to an enviable status
The faith realm is the realm of escape from the curses of life
  4. Faith is key to wholeness (Matt. 9:22; 15:28; Mark 10:52; Luke 17:19)
Faith makes whole; faith repairs and restores lives and destinies
Faith is the cure for the deficiencies and insufficiencies of life
  5. Faith is key to victory and triumph (1John 5:4; Heb. 11:32-34)
Faith is the guarantee for victory, any day, anytime and anywhere!
Faith will make a victor out of a victim, a captain out of a captive and a conqueror out of the conquered
By faith we subdue kingdoms, obtain promises, stop the mouths of lions, quench the violence of fire, escape the edge of the sword, we wax valiant in fight and turn to flight the armies of the aliens! (Heb. 11:32-34)
‘In the Name of Jesus, I will not lose another battle another day of my life!’

THE KEY OF FAITH:
Light from Scripture (Rom. 10:8, 17; Acts 6:7; 1Thess. 1:8; Heb. 11:3)
Anywhere the Word of God explodes, faith explodes!
There is an inextricable relationship between faith and the Word of God

WHAT TO DO WITH LIGHT FOR FAITH TO WORK?

a. Access the Light from Scripture (Matt. 15:26; 6:11; 1Tim. 5:8; Ps. 105:37; 119:130)
Anywhere the Word of God explodes, faith explodes!
You are entitled to healing daily (Matt. 15:26; Matt. 6:11)
Light is a productive of revelational equations
Jesus died young so that you can live long (Heb. 2:9; Hab. 2:4)

b. Attune your thoughts to the Light of Scripture (Rom. 12:1-2; 2Cor. 10:3-5)
It is unto you according to your faith and it is equally unto you according to your thoughts (Prov. 23:7; Eph. 3:20)
You can’t think up and stay down; you can’t think authority and remain in captivity!

c. Align your talk with Light from Scripture (2Cor. 4:13; Isa. 8:20)
Don’t speak carelessly, speak calculatedly; don’t speak your situation, speak your revelation; don’t speak your confrontation, speak your conviction; don’t speak what you feel, speak what He wills; don’t speak what is happening, speak what is written!
Be optimistic, positivistic, enthusiastic and audacious; speak even in spite of fear

d. Adjust your walk to the Light from Scripture (Ps. 119:105; Isa. 2:5; 2Cor. 5:7; Jam. 2:20)
Take steps in line with Light from Scripture; do what God wants you to do in order to see what God wants you to see

PRAYER:
Father, I come before You today to surrender myself to You. Thank You for access to power, glory, the Blessing, wholeness and victory by faith through Your Word in Jesus’ Name.

MFM Daily Devotional 19 February 2019 – Deal With Your Character Flaws (I)

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 19 February 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Deal With Your Character Flaws (I)

TOPIC: Deal With Your Character Flaws (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 19 February 2019)

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 25; Mark 1:23-45

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 25:2-14

MEMORY VERSE: “Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.” -Proverbs 8:10

The MESSAGE:

Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking. Character can make or mar a person’s life. It can lift to the height of success and also bring down to the valley of failure and shame. Good character builds and promotes while bad character destroys. No one should neglect any flaw in his or her character.

Literary giants like William Shakespare and Thomas Hardy wrote great works in the genre called tragedy as playwrights and novelists respectively. In literature, a work of art is regarded as tragedy when a character rises to prominence, wealth, fame and so on but later falls from grace to grass, from the sublime to the ridiculous, due to a flaw in the character of the person. For example, in Shakespare’s “Julius Caesar”, Julius Caesar’s character flaws among others, were arrogance and ambition. As a result, he ignored and despised the soothsayer’s warning and turned deaf ears to the pleas of his subjects. These flaws made the other leaders around him believe he would make himself a tyrant or dictator. So they conspired and assassinated him. In Thomas Hardy’s “The Mayor of Casterbridge”, Michael Henchard’s undoing was drunkenness. He got so drunk one day that he sold his wife and only daughter. Later, providence smiled on him and he became wealthy and famous, emerging as the Mayor of Casterbridge. He never thought his fortune would one day change. The mistake he made about two decades earlier when he was poor and drunk was exposed and used against him when he became a mayor. He didn’t know someone knew his past. The revelation devastated him and led to his downfall and death.

Beloved, these literary personalities are people like us. Have you ever sat down to check your life? What character flaws do you have? Some of the flaws might even be inherited. Perhaps they run in your family. You must be determined to deal with them and not pass them on to your children. If it is over-ambition, take it to the Lord in prayer. Cry to Him for help, He will deal with it. It could be uncontrollable anger. If you ask the Holy Spirit for help on it, He will dislodge the spirit of anger from your life and give you a new spirit. If you are struggling with excessive love of money or evil appetite for food and sex, just take it to the Lord. Isaiah was a man of unclean lips. One encounter he had with the fire of God changed his life and ministry for good. Ask God to baptise you with His fire of change. Every flaw in your character will be destroyed, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
WEAKNESS IN ATTITUDE BECOMES WEAKNESS IN CHARACTER.

PROPHETIC WORD:
The Lord will deliver you from every flaw.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Character flaw in my life, come out and die, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Anything in my life working against my destiny, die now, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Any defect in my character due to my ancestry, your time is up, come out and die, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. O Lord, arise and purge me of any character flaw, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Holy Ghost fire, overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
  6. Blood of Jesus, purge my foundation of any character defect, in the name of Jesus.
