We need to laugh more. It is good for the soul and adds health to our body. One of the reasons we may not laugh more is because we think too much about things that have no ability to bring joy.

Thinking of what I have lost in life is not a joy-bringer, but thinking about what God has done for me and His promise to do even more does bring joy.

Thinking about the people who have hurt us in life is not a joy-bringing thought, but thinking about the grace God has given us to forgive and trust Him for vindication makes us want to laugh (at least it does me).

God often reminds me to laugh more. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get too serious and I need to have a “laugh break.” There are lots of things to laugh at or about if we will just take the time to do it.

I believe laughter is much more important than we may realize. We aren’t too old or too busy, nor do we have too many problems to laugh! Start paying attention to how much you laugh and try to do it as often as possible.

Prayer Starter: Father, I believe You gave me the ability to laugh for a reason, and I want to take advantage of all the benefits of laughter. Help me take every opportunity to laugh and to make others laugh too. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Dear Reader,

Happy new month! This month shall be a splendid one for you, as God will be revealing Himself anew to you and your household. You will agree with me that marriage is more of a spiritual bond than physical. So, when man and woman come together in union, they are expected to have entered a stronger spiritual bond that will impact on their overall well-being.

Man is essentially a spirit being; he possesses a soul which is housed in a body. This implies that the moment you agree to get married, you have agreed to be spiritually joined to your spouse. This agreement, however, should lead to a stronger relationship with God – the Creator of man and Originator of marriage – and a closer bond between the spouses, especially if they are not unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14).

However, several years of counseling and listening to people share their ordeal in marriage, show that more people, even spiritually vibrant men, and women tend to wax cold in the things of God after marriage. Instead of being more effectual and fervent in their spiritual walk and prayer life, they tend to be more complacent, which sometimes take a negative toll on their family life. This is not God’s original plan for you. It is written: Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor (Ecclesiastes 4:9). God expects that married couples become stronger spiritually than when they were both single. Two of them brought together in spiritual warfare should put ten thousand demons to flight (Deuteronomy 32:30). It means, therefore, that your union and family should be a threat to the kingdom of darkness. I am of the opinion that the major reason why people experience spiritual downtime in marriage is because they pay more attention to physical things than the spiritual. They are more concerned about how to look good, please the other party and enjoy more of the physical attributes of marriage. Although, all of these are good, but they are not the ultimate. The real you is your spirit and this is what relates with God for a more victorious lifestyle on the earth.

But, What is Spirituality?

Spirituality is a growth in our relationship with God. It is not an achievement; rather, it is a journey, a process that gives room for growth and advancement. To be spiritual is to walk with God according to His dictates as stated in His Word. To be spiritually fervent, therefore, means to have a strong and sincere connection with God, to be in touch with God, who is your Source of existence and sustainer. It is being linked up with your heavenly Father from whom you draw power for performance.

Why Do You Need to Maintain Spiritual Fervency in Marriage?

1. It is Commanded by God: To be spiritually minded at all times is what God expects of you. It is written: For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6). Your spirituality is meant for your benefit and overall well-being. When you are spiritual, you receive divine signals which will advance your life, family, and endeavors. Spirituality is not an issue of convenience; it is a subject of obedience. As you obey, God sets you up on high and establishes your dominion on the earth.

2. To Guarantee Your Dominion Over Wicked Forces: Your spirituality is your only guarantee for safety in this wicked world. The Bible says: And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness (1 John 5:19). If your family must fulfill purpose on the earth, you must learn to spiritually win the war against the opposition which is as good as winning in the physical. Your family is too precious for you to operate in the physical alone; be spiritually connected. Until you are spiritually connected, there is no way you can walk “safe” and victoriously in this wicked world.

3. To Be Firmly Connected to Your Source: Just as plants are likely to wither and be cut off if not properly nourished and connected to the root, if you are not spiritually connected to your Source, you would lack the required nutrient needed for life’s nourishment, thereby withering. Spirituality gets you rooted, connected and linked with God. Be conscious of the fact that without God, you can do nothing (John 15:5). The well-being of your family life is dependent on your relationship with God.

4. For Productivity and Impact: Your productivity and impact in life is highly dependent on your spiritual fervency. Spirituality gives you access to unusual inspirations that give you an edge in life.

You must, however, understand that you cannot be spiritual without first accepting Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour. Salvation is the first step to receiving help from above. If you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, then say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are born again and now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily; obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21). With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ name! Challenges come to every home; what makes the difference between one home and the other is wisdom. From the scripture above, the “rock” is the Word of God and that rock is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Word of God. The “storm” has to do with challenges that every family faces. The “sand” represents human philosophies ideologies, tradition, and so on.

Every time you see crisis in the home, wisdom is missing. What you are not committed to, will not produce result. Successful marriages and families did not just come from heaven neither are they “lucky”; they are built on the Word of God. Workout your own salvation. Stop gallivanting from one church or pastor to another for prayers. It will not work that way. Sit down with God’s Word; practice what the Word says and you will have a successful marriage. Have a prayer altar in your family; quit going from place to place seeking deliverance for your children that you have refused to train well. Make it work with God’s Word. The devil takes advantage of a prayer-less home by bringing disagreement. The success level of a family can be affected by challenges.

Husbands and wives should never disclose their family challenges to people who are incapable of solving them; it will increase the problem. The knowledge level of a person determines the kind of answer he or she will give. If you do not want to commit crime, be committed to your family. The Almighty God believes in a relationship that has commitment as one of its vital qualities.

In the beginning He said, “Let us make man in our image” not “Let me make man in my image”. God decided to carry others along. Therefore, when you are married, you are no longer a single person. Some persons are married but still live as singles. Consciously work on your mind to get rid of the singlehood mentality so that it does not affect your marriage.

Every problem in the family is a wisdom problem, so be committed to make it work. Just make the word of God your standard of living. As a husband, you should have time for your wife and children; as a wife, you should also have time for your husband and children.

If you do not want to give your marriage attention, then be ready to be in detention. By the time the home s in turbulence, nobody will concentrate. Wives are so powerful that they control the atmosphere of the home. If they frown, the whole atmosphere will be unfriendly. At that point; as a husband, you have to do everything for her to laugh.

One thing you should know is that Satan knows the “force” behind marriage; so, he will always want to attack. Satan knows that if a couple is committed to their marriage, anything they ask will be given to them by God. He knows the force of agreement.

Matthew 18:19 (KJV) Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

The devil knows that the strongest force of agreement is between the husband and wife. This is because the husband and the wife operate at three dimensional levels: spirit, soul and body, which no two other persons share. So, when they come into agreement in prayers, God is committed to answer them. So, Satan brings in little things to tear them apart and that is the reason both the husband and the wife must be very prayerful. The devil brings in stupid thoughts that do not exist anywhere to wrongly advice the woman to fight against her husband, especially when a great breakthrough for the family is at hand. When husband and wife understand the principle of commitment, they will immediately identify the finger of the devil and cast him out of the family.

Children should not take the place of the husband or wife in the family. Love the children and also love your spouse; place them in their respective places. You are in that marriage because of your spouse. You are not married to your children.

If your wife does not know how to dress well, teach her. If you do not like how her hair looks, then show her how it should look by taking her to the saloon and showing the hair dresser the one you want for her. If your husband does not know how to perform sexually and you know how to, teach him. When it comes to commitment, you should be ready to stick to any situation in the marriage to make it work.

Topic: In Christ, Signs Follow The Believer [TREM Devotional 15 February 2019]

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;” Mark 16:17 KJV

The scripture says clearly, that in the name of Jesus the believer has the power to cast out devils. Therefore no devil is bigger than Jesus. There is no power greater than the name of Jesus. He is bigger than the biggest. He is higher than the highest. And He is greater than the greatest. This God is supernatural and many times, His supernatural manifestations are so natural. And that is why people don’t believe it.

After Jesus had commissioned the Church to go into the world to preach the gospel, He declared that signs shall follow those that believe. Jesus did not say signs shall follow bishops, apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastors. He said signs shall follow those that believe. Are you a believer? Signs are meant to follow you. “In my name shall they cast out devils”. The beauty of it is that He didn’t say in your name. He said just have faith in my name. In other words, when I pray in the name of Jesus, He takes over and does the miracle.

“They shall speak with new tongues.” So if you are a New Testament believer and you are not praying in the prayer language of the Spirit, you are missing out in the grace of these last days. You are missing out in the prayer language of the Spirit. It is a language with which we cut off the devil. You don’t want to know the far-reaching effects of the prayer language of the Spirit. Praying in the Holy Ghost has far-reaching effects. There are things that you pray about today that will still be manifesting ten years after. And you would think that it is your brain.

9.Father, reveal all evil plans of my enemies and overturn every evil counsel over my life, ministry and destiny, in Jesus’ name.

10.Father, let every rebellious alliance and gang up against Your son, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, be scattered, and end up in frustration and shame for the rebels, in Jesus’ name.

11.Father, bless Your son, that You have been using to prepare these prayer points, beyond measures; help him to overcome every challenge of getting these prayer points across to Your children timely, on daily basis, in Jesus’ name.

SCRIPTURE: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Ephesians 1:3

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The level of God’s Blessing in your life is proportional to your level of commitment to God.

It has been established that the Blessing was God’s endowment on man at creation. Although, this Blessing was lost through disobedience by Adam in the Garden of Eden, Jesus came to restore it to us (Ephesians 1:3).

However, despite the death of Jesus Christ that restored the Blessing, there are triggers to pull in order to unleash the power of the Blessing for maximum impact and benefits. Even though we are potentially blessed in Christ, it is when we pull the triggers that we can experience the real manifestations of the Blessing.

Now, what are the triggers of the Blessing?

1. The fear of the LORD (Gen. 22:16-17,”Psalms 112″:1-3)

The fear of the Lord is a trigger of the Blessing of God.

2. The Word of God

The Word of God is the Container of the Blessing of God (Psalms 1:1). The Word of God connects a person to the Blessing of God.

3. The Act of service

When you serve the Lord, He shall bless your bread and your water (Exodus 23:25). The level of God’s Blessing in your life is proportional to your level of commitment to God.

4. The Act of Giving and Tithing

It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). This means, giving releases the Blessing of God on a man’s life. This giving also includes the tithe. No giver is permitted to die as a beggar or pauper.

5. The prophetic and priestly Impartation

The prophet or priest over a person’s life is a custodian, depot or channel of the blessing (Number 6:23).

6. Parental goodwill

Parental goodwill releases the blessing. When you honour your parents,it must be well with you (Ephesians 6″:1-4).

Beloved, my counsel is, access God’s Blessings for your life by pulling the triggers and channels mentioned above.

Remember this: The level of God’s Blessing in your life is proportional to your level of commitment to God.

ASSIGNMENTS:

2. Make up your mind to access the Blessing of God by pulling the triggers outlined above.

PRAYER: O Lord, I ask for the grace to reverence You, study Your Word, serve You faithfully, give sacrificially, connect to prophetic and parental releases so I can access Your Blessing for my life, in Jesus’ Name.
