Christian students barred from meeting on campus ‘grateful’ for U-turn

Business Leaders in Christ (BLinC) was denied official student organisation status at the University of Iowa over its refusal to appoint an openly gay student as its leader.

President, Jake Estell (pictured above, right) said: “We are grateful the court protected our rights today – to let us have the same right as all student groups to express our viewpoints freely on campus, and to be who we are.

“This victory reinforces the common sense idea that universities can’t target religious student groups for being religious.”

A federal judge found the institution’s sanction had breached the group’s rights to free speech, expressive association and free exercise of religion.

BLinC was stripped of its status after a member claimed he had been denied a leadership role because he was openly gay. University bosses alleged the group had broken their human rights policy.

But Judge Stephanie Mose from the US District for the Southern District of Iowa found inconsistencies how the policy was being applied.

She concluded the University of Iowa had not allowed BLinC to enforce a faith statement but…

Joyce Meyer Devotional 13 February 2019 — A Winning Combination

Topic: A Winning Combination [Joyce Meyer Devotional 13 February 2019]

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding. — Proverbs 3:13

One of my favorite ways to hear from God is through conventional wisdom and common sense. Wisdom discerns truth in a situation, while common sense provides good judgment regarding what to do with the truth. I consider wisdom supernatural because it isn’t taught by men; it is a gift from God.

Many sophisticated, intelligent people lack wisdom and common sense. God’s Word says, If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him (James 1:5 AMPC).

I am amazed how many people think they must stop using common sense in order to be “spiritual.” Spiritual people don’t float around all day on clouds of glory; they live in the real world and deal with real issues in real ways. They need real answers, just like everyone else—and those answers are found in God’s Word and revealed to us by His Spirit.

We do the seeking, and God does the speaking, but He is the Spirit of Wisdom and will not tell us to do anything that is unwise. Many times we ask God to speak to us and lead us, but if He does not give us a specific word from Scripture or speak a word in our hearts, we still have to live our daily lives and make decisions.

God is not going to dictate every little choice we make, but He does give us wisdom and common sense—and those two make a winning combination.

Prayer Starter: Father, I ask for Your wisdom to live my life and make good decisions that I will be happy with in the future. Give me a heart to know and love Your Word so I can be even more sensitive to Your daily guidance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Seeds of Destiny 13 February 2019 Devotional – Keys To Terminating Captivity

Topic: Keys To Terminating Captivity [Seeds of Destiny 13 February 2019 Devotional]

SCRIPTURE: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No matter the negative situation you might be passing through, God is interested in bringing it to an end.

Previously, we saw that there is no night situation of life that has no end. This means, no matter the negative situation you might be passing through, God is interested in bringing it to an end. God is interested in setting His people free. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus to die in order to put an end to every form of captivity in our lives.

Now, what are the keys to terminating captivity?

  1. Being Born Again
Captivities are broken when we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ. The life in Christ is redeemed from every curse and bondage (Galatians 3:13). When we come to Jesus Christ, every ancestral power over our lives is broken; this is because the Blood of Jesus is stronger than the blood of your ancestors (1 Peter 1:18-19, Colossians 1:12-13).
  2. The Sent Word
The sent Word is key to breaking captivity and bondage (Psalms 107:20). Sometime ago, there was a brother who always had nightmares and could not sleep. While studying the Scripture, he came across a passage where the Bible says that God gives His beloved sleep (Psalms 127:2b). Instantly, the demons of nightmare disappeared. The Sent Word is a terminator of captivity.
  3. The power of praise
Praise breaks the gates of brass and cuts the bars of iron in sunder (Ps 107:15-17). The power of praise set Paul and Silas free from the bondage of captivity. As they praised God, the doors were opened and the bands on their hands were loosed (Acts 16:25).

When a man praises God, He deals with every bondage and chains around his life.

Beloved, make up your mind to engage the power of new birth, God’s Word and Praise in order to deal with every form of captivity in your life.

Remember this: No matter the negative situation you might be passing through, God is interested in bringing it to an end.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Make up your mind to dedicate your life to Christ
  2. Engage the power of God’s Word and intensive, explosive and explorative praise to break bondages.

PRAYER: O Lord, I dedicate my life to You. Give me the grace to engage the power of the Word and praise to break every form of bondage in my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY READING: Exodus 35:10 to 36:38, Matthew 27:32 to 66, Psalm 34:1 to 10, Proverbs 9:7 to 8.

AMAZING FACT: The Boeing 747 is capable of flying upside-down if it weren’t for the fact that the wings would shear off when trying to roll it over.

MFM Daily Devotional 13 February 2019 – Too Busy To Pray (II)

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 13 February 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Too Busy To Pray (II)

TOPIC: Too Busy To Pray (II) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 13 February 2019)

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 14; Matthew 26:51-75

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Kings 19:14-22

MEMORY VERSE: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” – Philippians 4:6

The MESSAGE:

Daniel had an exalted position in government, yet he prayed without ceasing and never allowed anything to steal His time alone with God. King Hezekiah, in spite of his royal status gave prayer a priority. By the power of prayer, he reversed an unpleasant divine message given about his life. It was not just that prayer he prayed at that time saved him, it was the prayer he had been praying before. His prayerful lifestyle was also seen when he took the letter of Sennacherib to the Lord in prayer and God sent a message of comfort to him through Prophet Isaiah.

David was an exceptional king, yet he made prayer and praises his lifestyle. Jesus prayed without ceasing. Don’t be too busy to pray. Don’t ever be fooled to think that you are too big to pray. Don’t ever say you are too busy to pray. Anyone who is too big or too busy to pray is saying, in essence, that he does not need God. The day a man stops praying, he starts dying. Prayer connects a believer to God, the Source of all good things and blessings. Moses’ prayer won the battle against the Amalekites. Prayer has raised the dead. Prayer has stilled storms. Prayer parted River Jordan. Prayer made the barren woman fruitful. Prayer makes the impossible achievable. “Why worry when you can pray” is a common saying. If you are too big to pray or too busy to pray, you have every cause to worry!

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
PRAYER IS THE KEY OF THE MORNING AND THE BOLT OF THE NIGHT.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Your heavens shall be permanently opened.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Father, incubate me with the Holy Ghost fire, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Lord, catapult my spiritual life to the mountain top, in the name of Jesus.
  3. O Lord, fill me with spiritual gifts, in the name of Jesus.
    EVENING
  4. Let the heavens open and let the glory of God fall upon me, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Let signs and wonders be my lot, in the name of Jesus.
  6. Let the joy of the oppressors about my life turn to sorrow, in the name of Jesus.
  7. Let all multiple strong men operating against me be paralysed, in the name of Jesus.

Be Disciplined by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Be Disciplined by Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Be Disciplined

No matter how gifted a person is, without the application of self-discipline, the gift will never take that person to his or her maximum potential. Do you want to conquer the world? Then, you have to conquer yourself first.

Titus 2:6 (KJV) Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

Conquer yourself before thinking of conquering the world. David, for instance, was able to conquer Goliath (1 Samuel 17), but he was not able to conquer himself. Adultery got the better of him! If you first conquer the world without conquering yourself, you will still fail — it is only a question of time. Jesus conquered Himself before He conquered the world. That’s why He could boldly say, “the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me” John 14:30.

You can conquer the world and still be a problem. You must conquer yourself! Many dodge opportunities to improve themselves and wonder why they are failures. If you are a quitter, you will end up failing! You refused to conquer yourself, so you have no self-discipline — a necessary requirement for success. Success is not a function of prayers; it is a function of self-discipline. Yes, God has given you fantastic ideas but those ideas will never be actualized without self-discipline.

Proverbs 11:3 (KJV) The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

Character is what you are in the dark. What you are when no one is monitoring or supervising you. Being able to still do the right thing when nobody is keeping a tab on you, when no one is telling you what to do and what not to do.

Luke 14:18 (KJV) And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

To discipline yourself, you must challenge excuses. To develop a life-style of self-discipline, the place to begin is to challenge and eliminate all tendencies to make excuses.

Proverbs 18:9 (KJV) He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Undisciplined people are always procrastinating. Self-discipline does not make room for procrastination. So determine to stop procrastinating. Stop giving excuses. Be disciplined!

Another way to attain self-discipline is to stay focused on results. Anytime you concentrate on the difficulties of an assignment, instead of its results, you are likely to be discouraged. So every time you have an assignment or a task to accomplish, do not look at the difficult side of it. Focus on the end result and the reward you will get out of it.

Another way to discipline yourself is to remove the reward until the job is done. Your primary concern should be to do a quality job, not the money; let people know you for your integrity. It is time to conquer yourself. He who conquers others is strong, but he who conquers himself is mighty.

Discipline yourself first before you discipline someone else. That’s the secret of success.

1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV) But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Whatever you want to be in life, you must first discipline yourself to become. Please devote time to self-discipline in your time, your devotion to God, your health and every other area of your life.

Receive grace to be disciplined in Jesus name – Amen!

God bless you

TREM Devotional 13 February 2019 – Pursue God for Who He Is

Topic: Pursue God for Who He Is [TREM Devotional 13 February 2019]

“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,” Luke 5:1 KJV

According to our scriptural text today, the people pressed upon Jesus to hear the word of God. They were not pressing to see miracles. The reason many believers are being deceived today is that they are pursuing God for miracles and not for who He is. There is much more than He has done for you. Stop pursuing Him for things. It is an insult to pursue Him for things. Hear what the Word says: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 KJV.

Beloved, the thing you are pursuing is a free gift, freely given to us. And you are busy pursuing things, changing from one church to the other. ‘It is not working here, so let me go there. Oh sister; you have been long in this thing; look, heaven helps those who help themselves.’ (But that is also not in the Bible). ‘Let me take you to another place.’

In the account recorded in Luke 5:1-6, the supernatural took place in Peter’s fishing business because Peter heard the Word. He said: I have toiled all night with my expertise, with my right tools; fishing at the right time and with the right partners but caught nothing. “Nevertheless at thy Word, I will let down the net”. (Luke 5:5 KJV). And when he did, he caught a net breaking and boat sinking multitude of fishes. The supernatural naturally followed. The supernatural was there waiting for somebody to obey when the Word was preached. Now, look at what happened in Luke 5:15: “But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.” (KJV) Hearing and healing go hand in hand. Hearing and miracles go hand in hand. The people came to hear and to be healed.

Black Panther Star Letitia Wright Delivers Impassioned Acceptance Speech about Faith

Black Panther Star Letitia Wright Delivers Impassioned Acceptance Speech about Faith

As Black Panther star Letitia Wright accepted her British Academy Film Awards award Sunday night, she boldly declared that she is first and foremost a “child of God.”

According to CBN News, Wright, who has been open about her struggle with depression, accepted the “Rising Star” BAFTA award with a smile on her face as she thanked God for making her dreams of becoming an actress come true.

Wright started her speech saying, “I identify myself as a child of God and I can’t get up here without thanking God.”

The Marvel star continued, “A few years ago, I saw myself in a deep state of depression and I literally wanted to quit acting. The only thing that pulled me out of it was God, my belief, my faith and my family, and an email from BAFTA asking me to become part of the BAFTA Breakthrough Brits.”

“I was like, ‘Let me try again,’” she added.

Before Black Panther, Wright had limited success in films. Between 2011 and 2018, the actress had booked four films and landed limited appearances on a handful of TV shows.

The actress noted in her speech that her path to success was not a simple one.

She said, “This wasn’t a click of a finger success and it’s still a work in progress; I’m still a work in progress.”

The outspoken Christian actress ended her speech by thanking God one more time and encouraging others who are…
