Gone Girl could be the biggest surprise of the early fall season. It collected $12-$13 million, which could put it on course for $35-$38 million, well above Fox’s conservative estimate of $22-$24 million.
The polar vortex, seven-foot pythons, and divine sovereignty
Last week, a snake catcher in Australia removed a seven-foot python that had slithered through an open door and climbed into the shower. In another Australian home, a woman found a python in her toilet bowl.
The reason for such serpentine domestication: It’s hot in Australia. Record-setting hot. Temperatures hit 117 in Sydney recently, the hottest it has been since 1939. Reptiles are looking for shade and water like everyone else.
Meanwhile, it’s record-setting cold in the northern US. Chicago had a wind chill of negative fifty-two degrees yesterday morning. Nearly ninety million people are likely to experience temperatures at zero or below.
People in Minnesota could get frostbite after five minutes outside. Beer can’t be delivered in some parts of the Midwest because it would freeze before arriving. As I write this Daily Article, the temperature in Madison, Wisconsin, is minus twenty-six degrees.
We can’t have it both ways
Much about today’s news leaves us feeling powerless.
The death toll from the Brazilian dam collapse has risen to ninety-nine, with another 259 missing and feared dead. A gardener in Toronto has pled guilty to killing eight men, some of whom he buried in planters. Floods in Saudi Arabia have killed at least twelve people.
If we believe in an all-powerful God–or even if we don’t–we wonder why he allows so much suffering in his creation. If a car had as many problems as our planet, we’d hold the manufacturer responsible.
Of course, this analogy breaks down when we discover that the Fall, not divine mismanagement, led to the brokenness of our planet (Romans 8:22). Dostoevsky notes in The Brothers Karamazov that, after centuries of living under Christendom’s authority, humans have finally declared ourselves free from God’s sovereignty. We’re convinced that we can do what we wish, when we wish, with no divine consequences.
But we can’t have it both ways. We cannot refuse to live by God’s word and then fault…

Bishop supports Great British Spring Clean
The Great British Spring Clean on the 22nd March – 23rd April has already got backing by The Daily Mail and Chris Evans.
Run by Keep Britain Tidy, it aims for 500,000 people to all join in with a street-cleaning initiative for the sake of environment and wildlife.
Bishop Graham told Premier he picks up litter as he walks his dog but that it was also something churches could easily adopt: “I’m also encouraging, during this period of time, that churches might encourage their communties to take part in a litter pick,
“During Lent this year the Church of England is particularly focusing on the theme of pilgrim journeys…so what about a parish doing a litter pilgrimage, collecting litter as they pray their way round their community?”
When asked why he thought this was something the church should get on board with, he replied: “Because it links very much to the sum of the hearts of our belief in terms of God who, in Jesus, has entered into the world and delights in the richness of creation and in Genesis we’re demanded to care for God’s world, to look after it, to take a great sense of awe and wonder about creation – and any obstruction of that, any adding to the messiness of it through litter, has an impact on the whole sense of creation”.

The Ancient of Days
The Ancient of Days began as a worship video. It turned into a testimony. This dream, almost twenty years in the making was buffeted by injuries, damaged equipment – even death. But because it’s the story of what happens in our lives when Jesus shows up, God prevailed, as He is – THE ANCIENT OF DAYS.
This began as a music video. There was so much spiritual warfare that came against it, they were led to produce a “making of” prequel and put the two together, now on DVD.

RUN THE RACE Movie
NASHVILLE, TENN. – Heisman Trophy winner, national champion and NFL veteran,
and professional baseball player Tim Tebow can now add “filmmaker” to his impressive list of accomplishments. Tebow and his brother Robby are executive producers of the new film RUN THE RACE , telling the inspiring, fictional story of two high school athlete brothers who see their relationship tested as they seek different paths out of their troubled lives.
” RUN THE RACE is about so much more than football. This is a story about overcoming the hard issues of life, about the power of sacrifice, the power of family, and the power of forgiveness,” Tim Tebow said. “ I love being a part of a project like this because it will impact lives, inspire hope, and even prompt action. When I read the script, I knew this was an important project to get behind.”
“ The script pulled me in right away, and I wanted to bring it to life cinematically,” Robby Tebow said. “ As somebody with brothers in a big, super-close family that has gone through a lot together, it resonated with me on a deep level.”

RUN THE RACE marks the Tebow brothers’ first foray into feature films. RUN THE RACE stars Mykelti Williamson (FENCES, FORREST GUMP) as the boys’ coach, Frances
Fisher (TITANIC, UNFORGIVEN) as their surrogate mother, Tanner Stine ( NCIS , HBO’s Here & Now ) as Zach and Evan Hofer ( Kickin’ It ) as David. Supporting cast includes Kristoffer Polaha, Mario Van Peebles and Heisman-winner Eddie George, along with many others. From Reserve Entertainment and 10th Leper Productions, the film is produced by Darren Moorman, Jake McEntire and Ken Carpenter; directed by Chris Dowling (WHERE HOPE GROWS); and co-written by McEntire, Dowling, and Jason Baumgardner.
“ RUN THE RACE is about two young brothers facing unbelievable odds with an unbreakable bond,” said creator Jake McEntire, who co-wrote the script,. “I believe audiences will resonate with this uplifting story of faith, sacrifice and hope.”
Synopsis
In RUN THE RACE, two desperate brothers sacrifice today for a better tomorrow.
Reeling from his mother’s death and his father’s abandonment, Zach, an All-State athlete, finds glory on the football field, working to earn a college scholarship and the brothers’ ticket out of town. When a devastating injury puts Zach—and his dreams—on the sidelines, David laces up his track cleats to salvage their future and points Zach toward hope.
RUN THE RACE shows what’s possible when you run to—instead of from—the love of God.
NFL legend Eddie George (THE BEST MAN) appears as a college recruiter. He found that the movie’s background of athletics created the perfect context for a story about the brothers’ struggles and relationship.
“Sports really is a microcosm of how life is,” George said. “Somebody’s going to deal with
adversity. Somebody’s going to deal with loss. Somebody’s going to deal with pain. Somebody’s going deal with victory and success. I think this film reflects that.”
“We set out to make a film that engages the YA crowd while retaining a universal, timeless appeal,”. said director Chris Dowling (WHERE HOPE GROWS). “ Young adults crave stories built on authenticity and we deliver with real characters having real conversations about love, family and trying to find his or her place in this sometimes crazy world. .”
“Everyone involved with RUN THE RACE can’t wait to get this feature film in theaters,” said Producer Darren Moorman. “I want everyone to experience this authentic movie that tackles relevant themes in an entertaining way, where the romance is whimsical, the struggles are real, but the story-telling is fresh and poignant.”
Principal filming on RUN THE RACE was in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to Robby and Tim Tebow, executive producers include Bill Reeves, Erik Weir, Trey Brunson, Joe Kosakowski and Erik Dellenback.
“ RUN THE RACE is now ready for release,” Reeves said, “Theatrical distribution and release date will be February 22, 2019.”

Hillsong Church members saved from ‘mass drowning’ in dramatic rescue
The group, who had caught a bus to Bronte Beach in Sydney, ignored guidance to enter the water after hours before finding themselves in trouble on Tuesday evening.
Members of the local surf rescue club had just finished a Pilates class nearby and were able to respond when it emerged the swimmers were struggling.
In a message posted on Instagram, the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club said: “A fantastic mass rescue tonight at 8pm by a bunch of Bronte Members…
“Fortunately, we had 20 people just finishing their weekly Pilates class with Harries when this occurred and they were able to quickly grab gear and avert a mass drowning.”
Anthony ‘Harries’ Carroll told Yahoo News 7 that Bronte Beach – located south-east of central Sydney – is one of the most dangerous beaches in Australia.
He added: “A couple of them had gone completely under
“I’ve been in the game 23 years and when you see that kind of thing, you just know you just need to go.”
Surfers nearby helped keep members of the group afloat until they could be rescued using flotation boards.
The Club’s statement continued: “When Harries and James got there, four of the eight were basically underwater, and very lucky to be saved.
“When will people learn that swimming at 8pm is a stupid idea, especially when not strong swimmers?”
Founded in Sydney by Brian and Bobbie Houston during the 1980s, Hillsong Church has grown to…

Joyce Meyer Devotional 31 January 2019 — Which Way Will You Choose?
Topic: Which Way Will You Choose? [Joyce Meyer Devotional 31 January 2019]
Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you. — Matthew 7:7 (AMPC)
Here in this passage, Jesus speaks of two different ways: the broad way that leads to destruction and the narrow way that leads to life.
As I was meditating on this passage, the Lord spoke to my heart and said, “Joyce, on the broad way there is room for all kinds of fleshly things like bitterness and unforgiveness and resentment and vindictiveness. But on the narrow way there is only room for the Spirit.”
In the flesh it is easy to take the broad path, but the end result is destruction. Emotions move us to take the easy way, to do what feels good for the moment. Wisdom moves us to take the hard way that leads to life. The question is: Which will we choose?
No matter what has happened to you in your lifetime, even if you have been abandoned by your spouse or abused by your parents or hurt by your children or others, if you’ll stay on that narrow path and leave all your excess baggage behind, sooner or later you will find the peace, joy, and fulfillment you seek.
We must keep walking in the ways of the Lord: And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint (Galatians 6:9 AMPC).
Jesus is the Way, and He has shown us the way in which we are to walk. The Lord has sent upon us His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in the way we are to go, the narrow way that leads to life and not the broad way that leads to destruction.
Prayer Starter: Father, help me to choose the narrow path today—in my thoughts, with my words, and through my actions. When my feelings rise up and I’m tempted to take the broad path, please strengthen me by Your Spirit and help me to make wise decisions I will be happy with later. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TREM Devotional 31 January 2019 – The Truth Will Never Fail You
Topic: The Truth Will Never Fail You [TREM Devotional 31 January 2019]
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
One of the greatest weapons of the devil is deception, and he uses it to attack God’s people. He comes to intimidate you, put you under pressure and gives you an impression that you are in trouble. Unfortunately, because a lot of people are ignorant, they fall for his deception and end up becoming a prey to him. This is never God’s intention.
Beloved, the New Creation in Christ Jesus has all the ingredients to overcome anything that comes against him. To say that a New Creation can be defeated is an insult to the finished work of Christ. We are in Christ and if Christ cannot be defeated, a New Creation cannot be defeated.
Paul says in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me”.(KJV) In other words, it is no longer your life but the life of Christ. You are a New Creation; you don’t have any ingredient for failure or defeat at all. That is not to say that the devil would not come; he will come but you have everything that is necessary to shut him up.
The problem is that many of God’s people just love excitement. They love all this ‘wildfire kind of thing’ and do not receive understanding. People who have understanding never fret when there is a challenge. I want to assure you that whatever the devil is saying in your life will not come to pass. You know he is a liar from the beginning. The Bible says he is the father of liars; he has no truth in him. You will fulfil God’s Word

MFM Daily Devotional 31 January 2019 – You Need Wisdom
MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 31 January 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – You Need Wisdom
TOPIC: You Need Wisdom (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 10 January 2019)
Bible In One Year: Exodus 25-26; Matthew 20:17-34
FIRE SCRIPTURE: James 3:15-17
MEMORY VERSE: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” – James 1:5
The MESSAGE:
Wisdom graced the lives of many biblical figures –Daniel, Ezra, Joshua –and brought them to great success. Similarly, kings and priests as well as princes and paupers all need wisdom.
Solomon was notable for receiving and using the wisdom of God. This gave him a highly successful and peaceful reign. The judgement he gave on who the rightful mother of a living child was between two disputing prostitutes bore eloquent testimony of the working of the spirit of wisdom in his life. No matter what your calling, vocation, occupation or profession is, you need both power from on high and wisdom from above. Joshua got a great measure of the spirit of wisdom when Moses laid his hands on him. Hence, as Moses’ successor, he was able to lead the children of Israel to the Promised Land successfully.
There are five steps you need to take for receiving wisdom from God. The first is for you to acknowledge that God has the answer to your questions on need for wisdom. Proverbs 2:6 says “For the Lord govern wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” Indeed, God is our sufficiency and every good and perfect gift (including wisdom) comes from Him. Second, for you to receive wisdom from God, you must pray to Him and ask for it. James 1:5 specifically gives this admonition, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” In addition to that, you can receive wisdom from God by believing He will help you. The just shall live by faith. Your faith has a great role to play in receiving any good thing (including wisdom) from the Lord. Proverbs 4:18 says that the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more unto the perfect day.
Another step you must take in order to get wisdom from God is to get in motion. Someone defines wisdom as the application of knowledge acquired. You must make conscious effort to correctly apply and utilise the knowledge, instructions, illuminations and promptings God gave you from His word, through personal revelations and so on. When you keep doing this, God will bless you with wisdom from above. Finally, in order to receive wisdom from God, you should always check your decisions against God’s word.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
WHEN THE SEARCH LIGHT OF THE LORD BEAMS UPON YOUR LIFE, DO NOT SHY AWAY FROM WHATEVER HE REVEALS TO YOU. DEAL WITH IT PROMPTLY.
PROPHETIC WORD:
The God of grace and glory will be merciful to you today.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- O God, arise and let Your wisdom overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
- Thou power from on high and wisdom from above, overshadow my nation, in the name of Jesus.
- My Father, arise and release me from the power of ignorance, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
- O Lord, reveal to be every secret behind any problem in my life, in the name of Jesus.
- I receive the spirit of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, in the name of Jesus.
- I enter into God’s throne of wisdom, in the name of Jesus.
- I receive grace and mercy to excel in all ramifications of life, in the name of Jesus.
