SCRIPTURE: He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. John 21:16.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Affection gives you communication. To love God is to talk about Him; you cannot love God and be tongue-tied.

We live in a world where many people profess to love God but their love for God does not show in confessing Him to people. To live a life of affection for God is to love God to the extent of talking about Him frequently.

When I was a student in the university, I had a friend who always talked about a particular sister always. One day, he said, ‘Ha! This girl is so spiritual; in fact, she prays fervently and she is on fire for God. You need to see her speaking in tongues’. So, I asked him, Brother, the way you are talking about this sister, do you want to marry her? Then, he said, ‘No. not really. It is just that I like her zeal’. Later in life however, both of them got married. That is how life is; it is not possible to love someone without talking about them. Those who love football talk about it and also the club they admire; they even know the names of the players in the club.

There are people from whose mouths you will never hear anything about God. The question is, how can you claim to love God in your heart and it does not flow out of your lips? Dedicated people cannot keep quiet about the God they love; they cannot keep quiet about what they love and who they love; affection gives you communication. To love God is to talk about Him; you cannot love God and be tongue-tied.

Therefore, make up your mind to talk about the love of God to people continually.

Remember this: affection gives you communication. To love God is to talk about Him; you cannot love God and be tongue-tied.

Today’s Scripture & Insight: 1 Peter 4:7-11

When they first met, Edwin Stanton snubbed US president Abraham Lincoln personally and professionally—even referring to him as a “long-armed creature.” But Lincoln appreciated Stanton’s abilities and chose to forgive him, eventually appointing Stanton to a vital cabinet position during the Civil War. Stanton later grew to love Lincoln as a friend. It was Stanton who sat by Lincoln’s bed throughout the night after the president was shot at Ford’s Theater and whispered through tears on his passing, “Now he belongs to the ages.”

Reconciliation is a beautiful thing. The apostle Peter pointed followers of Jesus there when he wrote, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). Peter’s words cause me to wonder if he was thinking of his own denial of Jesus (Luke 22:54–62) and the forgiveness Jesus offered him (and us) through the cross.

The deep love Jesus demonstrated through His death on the cross frees us from the debt for our sins and opens the way for our reconciliation with God (Colossians 1:19–20). His forgiveness empowers us to forgive others as we realize we can’t forgive in our own strength and ask Him to help us. When we love others because our Savior loves them and forgive because He has forgiven us, God gives us strength to let go of the past and walk forward with Him into beautiful new places of grace.

Text: Isaiah 7:1-9 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Thus saith the Lord GOD, it shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass” (Isaiah 7:7).

MESSAGE:

Since the coming of the social media, many more people appeared to have died of heartaches and unnecessary fear through the misuse of such channel. Every day, people post all manner of heart-rending pieces of information through the social media, many of which are outright falsehood. Thus, people’s hearts are failing them; many die as a result of fear.

At this time in the history of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the people had fallen far away from God that they made a league with Syria to fight against Judah. Despite the gang-up, God sent Isaiah to King Ahaz to tell him, “…take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted…” it was a time to remain calm in the face of an alliance of two nations that sought to conquer Jerusalem.

God also challenged Ahaz by saying, “if ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established”. This was an opportunity for him to call on Ahaz to believe what He was saying through His prophet, Isaiah. If he did not believe, he would be taken out.

The days we live in are dangerous; fears lurk within and without. There are many events and happenings that threaten people’s faith. Families are going through searing poverty; diseases and infirmities are wrecking havoc on many people. News of retrenchment, economic recessions, massacres and of impending wars have become a routine.

As believers, we are encouraged never to lose faith in the midst of all challenges. Instead, we should continue to look unto God, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Whatever is the situation, once God has given His assurances, we must take it as final.

Thought For The Day: Only divine assurances are potent enough to bring hope.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. – Mark 11:24

Believing. That’s the key to everything in the kingdom of God. It’s the way we tap in to the very power of Almighty God. Most of us know that. But few of us are sure exactly how to do that kind of believing. We don’t know how to put it into action.

Actually it’s so simple, it’s startling. It’s as simple as saying, “I believe I receive.”

Something happens in your spirit when you say those words. I don’t understand how, but it does. I don’t understand how my digestive system knows what to do when I swallow something, but it does. All I have to do is take a bite of food and it goes to work. I don’t have to make it happen. I don’t have to feel it happen. It just happens. That’s the way the body is made.

In much the same way, when you feed on God’s precious promises and “swallow” them into your spirit by saying, “I believe I receive,” faith is released. You don’t have to make it happen. You don’t have to feel it happen. It just happens. The reborn spirit is made that way.

When you constantly say with your mouth, “I believe I receive my healing” or “I believe I receive my financial needs met,” and then quote the scriptures that back those things, faith is released to bring power to bear on those needs.

As Dr. Kenneth Hagin says, you need to “keep the switch of faith turned on.” And Gloria and I have discovered that speaking out that phrase, “I believe I receive,” is one way to do it. We say it when we pray. We say it when we praise God. We say it when we read the Word.

We especially say it in the face of darkness when it looks like we’re not receiving. When everything looks the worst, we say it the loudest. I believe I receive!

Do you want to activate your faith today? Then make these four key words the most important words in your vocabulary. Use them every day. You’ll soon discover, just as we did…they work!

John 2:5, “His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do [it].”

Text: John 2:1-11

Mary knew Jesus as no one else did at this point. The Bible supplies no details of the childhood of Jesus except his trip to Jerusalem at twelve years of age, but it is certain that Mary knew Jesus was no ordinary man. Her request of Jesus to provide the guests with more wine reflects her belief that He could do things others could not.

Her instructions to the servants were, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” This shows that she not only knew Jesus could work miracles, but she knew His way of doing things did not always conform to conventional thought. Sure enough, Jesus told the servants to fill the pots with water and then take it to the governor of the feast.

This defied logic! Everyone there knew the guests wanted more wine, not water. Yet these servants, at Mary’s bidding, did exactly what Jesus told them and the results were wonderful. This miracle would not have taken place if the servants had not done what seemed foolish to them.

The Lord’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isa. 55:8). To see His miraculous power in our lives, we must do “whatsoever” He tells us to do regardless of how foolish it may seem. The foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of men and the weakness of God is stronger than men (1 Cor. 1:25). Today, whatsoever He says unto you, do it!

Helen Keller, who is a classic example of handling life’s handicaps, said, “I thank God for my handicaps, for through them I have found myself, my work, and my God.” Some people with handicaps drown themselves in self-pity, and thus limit their usefulness and service to mankind and to God.

The Apostle Paul knew the pangs of suffering. He used his infirmity rather than allowing his infirmity to use him, and he used it for the glory of God. He seized everything, even death, to glorify his Lord. No matter which way fate turned, he was one jump ahead of it, and using it to magnify his Savior.

Prayer for the day: Even my handicaps can be used by You, Lord Jesus. Like the Apostle Paul, let me rise above them for Your glory.

Speaking at the launch of an independent review of the matter, the Bishop of Truro said he also wanted to offer “ambitious policy recommendations for the UK”.

Rt Rev Phillip Mountstephen cited a number of factors including “post-colonial guilt” as fueling a sense that the UK has not been as vocal as it should be in opposing persecution in the developing world.

 

He said: “There are a number of reasons why we have been blind to this issue.

“This is not about special pleading for Christians; rather, it’s about ensuring that Christians in the global south have a fair share of the UK’s attention and concern. So, in that sense it is actually an equality issue.

Fresh scrutiny of how the UK uses its soft power (including trade and diplomatic ties) to stand up for the estimated 200 million believers at risk of being persecuted received a warm welcome from various Christian organisations.

 

The Foundation for Reconciliation and Relief in the Middle East, a Christian charity offering humanitarian aid throughout the region, said the review was a “bold move” to be “applauded”.

Only days after adopting her son, a Colorado single mother was asked to take in a second child, and what she learned next can only be described as a miracle. 


Divorcee Katie Page from Parker Colorado always knew she wanted to be a mother, but after her marriage ended the dream became increasingly out of sight. 


Knowing she wanted to realize this dream, Page became a foster mom to four children and later she decided to adopt Grayson, CBN News reports.


Page told Good Morning America, “The minute I saw him in the hospital, I fell in love. He’s so calm and sweet. He has the biggest challenges of all the kids.”


Page finalized Grayson’s adoption in May of 2017 and a month later, she received a phone call asking her if she would foster a newborn baby girl who, like Grayson, had been abandoned by her biological mother. 


In an interview with GMA, Page said she didn’t know why but she felt like God was calling her to say yes to taking the baby girl. Page said, “Something about this is telling me I’m supposed to say yes to this.” 


“I’m telling you God is telling me to say yes, and I do not know why,” she added.


Page welcomed newborn baby Hannah into her home in December 2018 and hours later she realized that Grayson’s mother’s unique first name was the same as the mother’s first name on Hannah’s hospital bracelets. Page reached out to…
