Pope Francis Reportedly Knew that Bishop He Promoted Had Been Accused of Harassment
Pope Francis reportedly knew that the Argentine bishop he promoted had been accused of harassment.
According to the Rev. Juan Jose Manzano, the former general vicar of the Argentine bishop, Gustavo Oscar Zanchetta, the pope had been told about Zanchetta’ behavior first in 2015 and then again in 2017.
Manzano said the pope did speak twice with Zanchetta about the misconduct.
Earlier this month, the Vatican announced that it was pulling Zanchetta from his post and beginning an investigation for sexual abuse prior to 2017.
Vatican press speaker Alessandro Gissoti said the bishop had not been accused of sexual abuse since taking his post as advisor to the Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See, which oversees the various real estate and other properties of the papacy.
In 2015, Manzano and three other diocesan officials reported that Zanchetta, then his superior, was taking nude selfies. In 2017, these officials complained to the Vatican again, accusing Zanchetta of “authoritarian rule and inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment of adult seminarians.”
Zanchetta resigned from his post as bishop in 2017, but later he was named an advisor in the Vatican.
Candace Cameron Bure Reminds Students that Kindness Is an Important Way to Represent Christ
Candace Cameron Bure sat down with Liberty University students on Wednesday to talk about how being kind is a great way for Christians to represent Jesus.
According to the Christian Post, in an interview at Liberty University, the Fuller House actress who is an outspoken Christian shared her experience on the popular daytime talk show The View with the students.
She said of her time on The View, “My whole goal for that show was to be kind and respectful and truly represent Christ in my speech.”
Bure noted that she has never known someone to change their minds after someone has beaten them down with their speech, so when she was on The View, she wanted to approach difficult conversations with compassion and by listening.
Bure went on to talk about a passage in Titus she had been reading and that reminded her that her character is how she represents Christ. She said, “When Paul was talking to Titus, he talks about having sound teaching and what I found interesting is that after he said, ‘make sure you are of sound teaching,’ he didn’t go into theology, he went into character.”
She continued, “Make sure that you are loving, that you are kind, that you don’t get into quarrels, that you’re not bickering.”

Open Heaven 22 January 2019 Tuesday MESSAGE:
Reading the words of today’s Bible text should be an awe-inspiring for any believer. Just as a father on his deathbed would share deep secrets with his children, Christ’s declaration about Himself came to His disciples at the very end of His assignment here on earth (John 13:1). He knew that His disciples had a limited understanding of who He really was, and so He chose that moment to reveal Himself to them fully. His divinity, His humanity, the reason why He came, His relationship with the Father, His destination, power and status thereafter are all revealed to us in this scripture. It is a privilege to have a revelation of who Jesus really is. To enjoy the fullness of the divine nature you possess as a Christian and to finish your race here on earth in flying colours, you need to have an intimate and personal relationship with the Master. However, you cannot have an intimate and personal relationship with the Lord without first having received a revelation of His person in your spirit. Apostle Paul was unique as a Christian because his knowledge of the Lord was based on divine revelation of His person. In Galatians 1:11-12, he wrote:
“11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
While it is good for you to be taught about the Lord, you cannot know Him intimately unless you receive a personal revelation of His person in your spirit. This is so important to make you genuinely grounded as a Christian. For this reason, Apostle Paul prayed this prayer for the fledgling Christians at Ephesus in Ephesians 1:16-17:
“16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:”
Jesus revealed Himself to the disciples because they had proven their love for Him by accepting His call and walking with Him while He was here on earth. Today, it is those who show their love for Him by spending time with Him in the place of worship and meditating on His word that He will reveal Himself to (John 14:23). Beloved, do you really know Jesus Christ? Have you caught a revelation of who He is in your spirit? Who is He to you? Is He a prophet, a great teacher, a miracle worker, great healer, your saviour from sin and the gateway to heaven? Jesus Christ is all of these and even much more, but above all, He is the Son of the Living God and the Saviour of mankind. Seek to know Him from today. Show your love for Him by spending time with Him, and He will give you a personal revelation of who He really is.

John Boyega to Executive Produce Movie about Gangster-Turned-Pastor Called God Is Good
Star Wars movie star John Boyega is set to executive produce a crime-thriller about family, community, race and faith called God Is Good.
Boyega is an outspoken Christian actor from England who is popularly known for his role as Finn in the 2015 and 2017 Star Wars movies, but this time Boyega is taking on a different role as he will be tasked with overseeing the production of the God Is Good soundtrack.
According to Deadline, the English-language, South African film will tell the story of a “reformed gangster-turned-pastor and a volatile detective who cross paths after an act of brutal violence sets them on collision course with a heinous gang lieutenant.”
Boyega, who recently launched his record label UpperRoom Records, will be working with the film’s other producer, renowned producer Josephine Rose, to create a compelling soundtrack for the film which is set to start shooting this spring.
In an interview with Deadline, Boyega noted how excited he was to be a part of this film. South Carolina Pastor Arrested for Strangling Pregnant Woman Outside His Church
A South Carolina pastor was arrested last week after he reportedly strangled a woman pregnant with his child outside of his church.
Live 5 WCSC reports that Pastor Rashan Lamar Wilson, 35, was arrested for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and his bond has been set at $20,000. Additionally, if he makes bail, Wilson has been ordered to stay away from the victim, Shanaqua Genise Johnson, and not to leave the state.
According to WBTW, Wilson engaged in a verbal argument with the Johnson as soon as she arrived at the Southern Baptist church to drop off their two other children with him on Monday night.
According to a witness, both Johnson and Wilson were standing outside of Johnson’s car having a heated conversation when they walked out of the witness’ view and on to the side of the Southside Impact Church. According to the affidavit, at this point, the pair started “getting loud.”
This is when Johnson reports that she was strangled. According to Live 5 News WCSC, the court records state that at this point “The suspect then lunged toward the victim, put both of his hands around her neck, squeezed tightly until she was unconscious for an indeterminate period of time.”
Johnson then reportedly hit her head on the concrete ground before coming to and reemerging from the side of the church building.

Facing Torture, Death in Sudan, Convert Flees to Egypt… and More Death Threats
NAIROBI, Kenya, January 21, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Having fled Sudan after authorities tortured and threatened to kill him if he refused to return to Islam, a Sudanese Christian now faces death threats in Egypt.
Unknown Muslims in Cairo began threatening him for his faith in Christ last year, 40-year-old Al Hadi Izzalden Shareef Osman said.
In a country where at least 2 million Sudanese migrants, including thousands of refugees, already face racial discrimination and resentment from Egyptians embittered by a cracked economy, Osman is threatened for turning to Christ, he said.
“My life is in great danger as Egypt is becoming an insecure place for me,” Osman told Morning Star News from Cairo.
He has received death threats by text and Whatsapp messages, on social media and verbally. After unknown persons on Aug. 15, 2018, raided his apartment and seized his passport, he has gone into hiding, he said. Osman was not at home at the time of the theft and has reported it to police.
Osman, who previously worked as a journalist in Sudan and has also won awards for his short fiction, said he left Khartoum in April 2014 after police from Sudan’s Criminal Investigation Department accused him of apostasy, punishable by death in Sudan.

Bishop Ken told Premier about the moment he discovered the news.
Speaking during Premier’s News Hour, he said: “I was very disappointed – very frustrated.
“There’s no heart or appetite for this sort of pointless violence and it was just taking us back to the days of mistrust and of hostilities that we wanted to get away from.”
Five men are being held by police in Northern Ireland over the incident and officers think the New IRA may have been behind the attack.
Meanwhile, less than 48 hours after the explosion, homes have been evacuated in Londonderry as police say a vehicle was hijacked by three masked men.
Officers say an object was seen being thrown into the back of a van before it was abandoned.
Bishop Ken said the community remains united.
“Across the community now there’s a unanimous voice of disapproval for this – there’s no support whatsoever,” he said.
“Every voice of every politician and every leader that you’re hearing on the local radio stations here is against what happened and has no time for it.”
Bishop Ken called for prayers while the investigation into both incidents continues.
Churches Volunteer in Their Communities for ‘MLK Day of Service’
Churches across New York and New Jersey are heading into their communities on Monday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.’s commitment to service.
According to the Christian Post, three churches, one in New York and two in New Jersey, are spending their Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday by participating in service projects in their communities.
St. Matthias Catholic church community in Somerset, New Jersey will be volunteering their time on MLK Day, but according to a spokeswoman for the church, Ana Kelly, this is only one of six service days that the church participates in annually.
The church members volunteer at organizations across several New Jersey counties including a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, a Ronald McDonald House, a food bank and the Pregnancy Aid Center. St. Matthias even includes their young members in the volunteer activities. Kelly told the Christian Post that this year the middle school students at the church’s sister-school will have the chance to work with the St. Matthias Faith Formation program and the Center for FaithJustice to learn about Martin Luther King, Jr. and volunteer in small groups at various locations.
