Kenneth Copeland Devotional 17 January 2019 – Let God Do It His Way

Topic: Let God Do It His Way [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 17 January 2019]

Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean. But Naaman was angry…. – 2 Kings 5:10-11, The Amplified Bible

So often we miss out on what God wants to do for us because He doesn’t do it the way we think He should. We work up an idea in our minds about how He’s going to heal us, for instance. We think He’s going to send some famous preacher to lay hands on us or that He’s going to knock us off our feet with a blast of His power. When He doesn’t, we let our faith drop and foul up what He had actually planned to do.

That’s what Naaman did. He went to Elisha expecting to be healed in a particular way. When it didn’t happen that way, the Bible says, he went away in a rage.

What Elisha told him to do was simple. Dip seven times in the Jordan. Naaman could do that. But it didn’t fit his idea of how his healing should take place. He thought Elisha would heal him by waving his hands around and calling on the Name of the Lord.

Naaman stormed away and he would have missed out on his healing if one of his servants hadn’t talked him into giving Elisha’s instructions a try.

I used to be like that. I wanted spectacular experiences from God so badly I was missing out on the experiences God had planned for me. Once I realized that, I quit looking for feelings and spectacular manifestations and just started expecting God to keep His Word.

I remember I went to a meeting one night with my ankle messed up terribly. The pain was so severe it went from my foot all the way up to my shoulder blades. But I went into that meeting expecting God to heal me.

During the praise service, I ignored the pain in my foot and just sang and worshiped with everyone else. When the preaching started, I got my Bible and got involved in the Word. Sure enough, sometime during that service I was healed. I don’t know when it was. I didn’t feel anything. I didn’t see any sparklers go off. I didn’t even realize I’d been healed until after the service. I got about halfway to the door and thought, Glory to God, my foot’s well!

Don’t let your own ideas of how God’s going to work rob you of your healing or your deliverance or your prosperity. Just trust Him and let Him do things His way. He will work mightily in you.

Andrew Wommack Devotional 17 January 2019 – God’s Choice

Topic: God’s Choice [Andrew Wommack Devotional 17 January 2019]

Luke 2:37, “And she [was] a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served [God] with fastings and prayers night and day.”

Text: Luke 2:36-40

Let’s suppose that Anna was fourteen years old when she married. She would have been 105 years old. Yet she was still fasting and praying night and day! Satan tries to convince us that God won’t use us. He may cite things like age or lack of abilities, or failures that we’ve had. But just like Anna, there are many scriptural examples of the Lord using those who would be considered unusable by worldly standards.

Moses was eighty years old before he began to fulfill God’s plan for his life and he worked right up until he was 120 years old. Abraham was in his nineties before he had the son that God had promised him.

Gideon was another one who looked unusable. He was hiding from the Midianites when an angel of God appeared and told him he was a mighty man of valor (Judg. 6:11-12). He couldn’t believe it at first and had to have the Lord confirm it three times.

Truly, …God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty… (1 Cor. 1:27-28).

If you feel foolish or weak, then you qualify. Let the Lord use you today.

Billy Graham Devotional 17 January 2019 – Truth

Topic: Truth [Billy Graham Devotional 17 January 2019 ]

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. — John 8:32

Ours is an age of philosophical uncertainty, and we no longer know what we believe. We stand uncommitted. Everywhere I go, I ask students, “What is controlling you?” When I was a student, I had to face Christ.

Who was He? He had made the astounding claim, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.” I wrestled with the inescapable fact that either Jesus Christ was who He claimed to be, or He was the biggest liar, fraud, and charlatan in history. Which was it? Buddha said toward the end of his life, “I am still searching for the truth.” But here was Jesus who appeared and said, “I am the embodiment of all truth. All truth is centered in me.”

Prayer for the day: Thank You, Jesus, for my freedom—because You are the Truth!

Open Heaven 17 January 2019 – Fulfilling the Law of Christ

Open Heaven 17 January 2019 Thursday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Fulfilling the Law of Christ

Topic: Fulfilling the Law of Christ (Open Heaven 17 January 2019)

Memorise: “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”- Galatians 5:14

Read: Luke 6:27-35 (KJV)

27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Bible in One Year: Mark 5-6, Isaiah 14:12-32

Open Heaven 17 January 2019 Thursday MESSAGE:

There are some basic truths that all heaven-bound Christian pilgrims must embrace for total freedom from the devil and his lies. One of these truths is that God’s commandments are eternally relevant and cannot be broken without consequences. Our first parents disobeyed God and the consequence was that their perfect life was destroyed, and the cordial relationship they had with the Lover of their souls was broken. Little did they know that the commandment God gave them was for their own good. Heaven is not devoid of divine law! The will of God is the law of heaven. No wonder our Lord taught us to pray this in Matthew 6:10:

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

Also Read: RCCG 2019 Forty Nine Days Fasting And Prayer Points

The reason why the beings in heaven do not just do what pleases them is because divine law and order reigns in heaven. Psalm 103:20-21 says:

20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. 21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.”

It is therefore a misplaced understanding of grace for any Christian to think that once a fellow is saved, there is no obligation to obey any form of commandments because there is no law to keep. In fact, as Christians, we are under the law of Christ and this law is administered through the Spirit of Lordship (one of the seven dimensions of the Holy Spirit), who lives in us (1 Corinthians 9:21, Romans 8:2, Isaiah 11:2).

What then is the law of Christ? The Master Himself sums it up, saying in Matthew 22:37-40:

37…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

To fulfill the law of Christ is to walk in love. The Holy Spirit spells this out clearly in Galatians 6:2, saying:

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

Our Lord also spells out what it means to walk in love in today’s Bible reading, teaching us what love in action really looks like. You cannot claim to be walking in love when you steal, sleep with your neighbour’s spouse, defile your neighbour’s daughter or go to the extent of killing other people. Love will not allow you to do so. This love was first demonstrated by Jesus Christ Himself and He is willing to impart it into those who would accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. Are you fulfilling the law of Christ?

Father, let Your love be shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit.

Open Heaven 17 January 2019 Thursday Hymn 5: Let Others See Jesus In You

1. While passing thro’ this world of sin,
and others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Chorus:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true;
Let others see Jesus in you.

2. Your life’s a book before their eyes,
They’re reading it thro’ and thro’
Say, does it point them to the skis,
Do others see Jesus in you?

3. Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave and true,
and lead the lost to life and Christ.
Let others see Jesus in you.

Vice President Mike Pence’s Wife Under Fire for Working at a Conservative Christian School

Vice President Mike Pence’s Wife Under Fire for Working at a Conservative Christian School

Vice President Mike Pence’s wife, Karen, has accepted a part-time teaching position at a private Virginia school that requires employees to agree to certain religious beliefs.

Immanuel Christian School, a private K-8 school outside of Washington, requires those applying for teaching and support staff positions to sign or initial a set of standards, including living a “personal life of moral purity” and believing that marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

“Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites, and sexual abuse or improprieties toward minors as defined by Scripture and federal or state law,” the document says.

It’s not unusual for conservative private schools to require affirmation from its employees, said Robert W. Tuttle, a law and religion professor at George Washington Law School.

According to a spokeswoman for Pence, Karen had previously taught at the school for 12 years when Pence was serving in Congress. She…

GameStop Stands by Employee who Allegedly Misgendered Customer

GameStop Stands by Employee who Allegedly Misgendered Customer

GameStop is standing by an employee who was cursed out by a transgender customer after the employee apparently used the wrong pronoun.

A now-viral video shows customer Tiffany Moore cursing out the employee, who Moore claimed said “sir” instead of “ma’am.” Moore then threatened the male employee by telling him to “take it outside.” Moore was born male but identifies as female.

“I will show you a f—ing ‘sir,’” Moore said.

The employee responded, “I’m going to ask you to calm down and stop cursing.”

At one point, Moore walked away from the counter, kicked over a display, and walked back, demanding the corporate GameStop phone number.

The employee can be heard saying “sir” once in the video but called Moore “ma’am” several times after being corrected.

“I’m sorry for that, ma’am,” the employee said.

Moore left the store before getting the number and said, “You’re going to lose money over this.” Moore promised to tell the “entire LGBTQ community” about being “misgendered.”

GameStop, though, said the employee acted properly.

“GameStop prides itself on having a very diverse workforce, many of whom are members of the transgender community,” a statement reads. “We proudly support and serve everyone who enters our stores regardless of gender or gender expression. The incident that…

Harvest Bible Chapel Announces that Lead Pastor James MacDonald Will Take an ‘Indefinite Sabbatical’

Harvest Bible Chapel Announces that Lead Pastor James MacDonald Will Take an ‘Indefinite Sabbatical’

Less than a week after dropping their lawsuit against three critics of the church, Harvest Bible Chapel has announced that its founder and lead pastor James MacDonald will be taking an “indefinite sabbatical.”

In a letter from the church’s elders posted to the Harvest Bible Chapel website, the elders wrote, “We have tried a variety of different strategies to address external criticisms over the past several years. It has become apparent that these efforts have failed to fully identify and address our personal failures, sins, and errors in leadership, thus perpetuating a continuation of the criticism.”

The letter continued, “In prayerful reflection upon all that has happened and how we got here, a private meeting of the Executive Committee of the Elders on Monday, January 14, led to the decision to be part of a peacemaking process that seeks both reconciliation and change where needed, which was reviewed by the entire Elder Board last night.”

As a part of the church’s “peacemaking process,” the board decided that Pastor MacDonald would be taking “an indefinite sabbatical from all preaching and leadership” at the Chicago-based church.

The letter continued noting that MacDonald will only be limitedly participating in the “peacemaking process” with the church. The Elders wrote, “He has recused himself fully from…

Facebook set to introduce rules for employees about discussing religion at work

In an internal memo obtained by website Business Insider, the social network’s chief technology officer Mike Schroepfer said on Monday that the Facebook has developed “a set of ground-rules for open and respectful communication at work, and a central moderation model”.

Workers will be prohibited from attempting to change their colleagues’ religion under the new rules.

Speech deemed as harassment and any bullying will also be banned.

Most of the rules apply to Workplace – Facebook’s modified version of the Facebook app for internal communication.

Schroepfer added: “We’re keeping it simple with three main guidelines: Don’t insult, bully, or antagonize others.

“Don’t try to change someone’s politics or religion. Don’t break our rules about harassing speech and expression.”

The rules will also apply to “all work communications” including, “email, chat, tasks, posters, whiteboards, chalkboards, and face-to-face”.

The Silicon Valley tech giant has defended the guidelines following the Business Insider’s publication of the internal memo.

Facebook spokesperson Anthony Harrison said in a statement: “Openness is one of the best things about working at Facebook.

“And respect is core to who we are as a company. This policy is designed to encourage everyone who works here to keep sharing, debating, and questioning – with some simple guidelines to assure communication is…

Chick-fil-A Opens on Sunday, Makes 14-Year-Old Autistic Boy’s Birthday Wish Come True

Chick-fil-A Opens on Sunday, Makes 14-Year-Old Autistic Boy’s Birthday Wish Come True

An Alabama Chick-fila-A opened their doors on Sunday to make a 14-year-old autistic boys birthday wish come true.

According to the Christian Post, 14-year-old Elijah Sprague, who is diagnosed with both autism and cerebral palsy, only wished to work at a Chick-fila-A drive-thru for his birthday. Sprague’s Uncle Walt Gilstrap – the manager at their local Chick-fil-A – and the Store’s owner heard Sprague’s wish an opened up their store.

WKRG reports that Sprague was able to hand out cookies to about 40 cars filled with friends and family through the drive-thru window.

After the teen was able to hand out cookies to his friends and family, everyone came inside the restaurant – which is normally closed on Sunday’s because of its Christian foundation – to celebrate Sprague’s birthday over a large cookie cake.

According to the Christian Post, Sprague was born 18 weeks early and was only expected to live for about one year. Rene Sprague, the boy’s mom, first met her son while working as a nurse in the NICU Sprague was placed in as a newborn. When Sprague was about six months old, Rene and her husband decided to adopt him despite all odds, and on Sunday he was able to celebrate his 14 birthday with his friends and family.

In an interview with CBS News, Rene thanked everyone for making her son’s birthday so special. She also…

Asia is now the ‘new hotbed of Christian persecution’, report finds

Christian charity Open Doors’ annual World Watch List has found 245 million Christians globally experience high levels of persecution – up 14 per cent from last year.

Spokesperson for the charity, Tamsin Taylor told Premier Asia is becoming a new “hotbed” for persecution against Christians as one-in-three Asian Christians now suffer high levels of persecution.

“India (10th) and China (27th) have both seen a dramatic worsening in the situation for Christians and both of those have millions and millions of Christians in their population,” she explained.

“So it’s a really significant deterioration.”

India – the world’s largest democracy – entered the World Watch List top ten for the first time as Hindu extremists “act with impunity and violent attacks on Christians and churches rise”.

The charity explained this is driven by growing ultra-nationalism, which has brought waves of violence against India’s significant non-Hindu religious minorities.

The persecution of Christians in China is the worst it has been for more than a decade.

AP Photo/Andy Wong

Taylor said the government is to blame: “The government are cracking down on Christians in China.

“They want people in China to be loyal first and foremost to the Communist party and Christians are loyal first and foremost to Jesus. So, the Chinese government doesn’t like that very much.”

Overall,…
