Open Heaven 11 January 2019 Friday MESSAGE:
When our Lord Jesus Christ taught the words of today’s memory verse, He was referring to those who experience the pain of alienation from their Maker and so groan under the godly sorrow that brings genuine repentance. We see a clear example of this in our Bible reading today. After hearing the message of impending doom delivered by Jonah, the people of Nineveh demonstrated genuine repentance by openly mourning for their sins. Jonah 3:6 says:
“For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.”
When we allow the Holy Spirit to convict us, the end result is godly sorrow as manifested in Jonah 3:10:
“And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”
The Holy Spirit put it more directly in 2 Corinthians 7:10 saying:
“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”
While the first part of this scripture describes the experience of the Ninevites, the latter part is true for the likes of Judas Iscariot, who after betraying the Master, had ungodly sorrow and hanged himself. Like Judas Iscariot, Peter was also pained for betraying his Master, but his pain was the result of godly sorrow which led to his repentance, and he became one of the foremost apostles. How true the word of God is! His word cannot be broken because it is settled in heaven for ever (John 10:35, Psalm 119:89).
Beloved, are you undergoing a kind of godly sorrow because you realise you have failed God in one way or the other? God has a message for you in 1 John 2:1-2
“1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
Don’t let your sorrow for sins committed be like that of Judas Iscariot; rather, let it be the godly kind that lead to genuine repentance. Don’t feel sorry because you were not clever enough to escape being caught in that sinful act. Rather, feel sorry because you have disappointed your Maker, and repent quickly before it is too late. There is gain in godly sorrow: it produces repentance that opens the door of receiving divine forgiveness of sin and acquittal from judgement. When your sins are forgiven, you are blessed (Psalm 32:1-2). This blessing is manifested in prompt answers to your prayers, permanent deliverance from the devil’s oppression, and having the Almighty God as your Father. Do you experience godly sorrow for committing sin?

Woman Loses Her Baby after Doctor Accidentally Prescribes Her an Abortion Pill
A woman in California is suing her doctor and pharmacy for accidentally prescribing and filling a prescription for an abortion pill.
Lorena Anderson unknowingly took the pill and miscarried. She is suing Dr. Maria Rasul at Bishop’s Peak Women’s Health and the Rite Aid Pharmacy’s Atascadero location.
Anderson visited Rasul at Peak Women’s Health in March 2018 to confirm a pregnancy. Rasul then, according to the suit, “carelessly and negligently” prescribed misoprostol, a prescription for a chemical abortion, which is usually taken in combination with another drug to complete abortion. Anderson says Rasul did not tell her of the drug’s “nature and effects.”
According to the suit, Rasul caught the mistake and contacted the pharmacy to cancel the order, but the doctor did not call Anderson. Anderson picked up the prescription, which Rite Aid staff “carelessly and negligently” filled anyway, the suit says.
She miscarried on March 20, the same day she visited Rasul and the same day she took the pill.
She is seeking damages for “fright, horror, anger, disappointment, emotional distress, mental suffering,” and “physical injury.”
“She was very excited to learn she was pregnant, and she was looking forward to being a mother,” Anderson’s attorney, Garrett May, told the San Luis Obispo Tribune.
Petra and Dirk Wunderlich were educating their four children at home in August 2013 when police carried out a raid and removed the children.
They were later returned.
After courts in Germany ruled in favour of the government, the European Court of Human Rights agreed to take up the case in August 2016.
Now that court has backed the German government.
In today’s (Thursday’s) ruling in Strasbourg in the case of Wunderlich vs Germany, the ruling stated that the German authorities’ actions were not in violation of the Wunderlich family’s fundamental rights.
Robert Clarke is from ADF International which was supporting the family.
He told Premier he was disappointed by the ruling:
“This is a ban that Germany enforces with criminal penalties. It’s a ban that they enforced in this case by sending more than thirty police officers and social workers to surround the home of the Wunderlich family to threaten to use a battering ram to open the door and then to carry out four children crying.”

“We are extremely disappointed with this ruling of the Court. It disregards the rights of parents all over Europe to raise their children without disproportionate interference from the state. Model and TV personality Hailey Bieber, formerly Hailey Baldwin, took to Instagram Monday to share with her nearly 17 million followers how God has helped her battle her insecurities.
CBN News reports that the 22-year-old model and wife of Canadian pop-singer Justin Bieber shared her struggle with comparison with her follower. St John the Baptist Church in Hartford in Cheshire will offer the ‘Grand Service’ to three couples in 2019 who otherwise would not be able to afford a church wedding.
The vicar, Rev Mike Smith told Premier’s News Hour: “It was an idea that came a few years ago now, when we had a couple who cancelled their wedding in church for cost reasons. That was followed by a couple more who did the same thing. It was about that time the Church of England decided to put a massive hike on its wedding fees and I felt uncomfortable with that and so began to put together a team of volunteers with the idea that we could do somebody’s whole day for an affordable price.”
The average cost of a wedding in the UK this year has now risen to over £30,000.
The offer at St John the Baptist includes an organist who will play for free, someone to make a two-tiered cake, a photographer, a lady who is offering dress alterations and flowers.
The package includes a catered reception in the Church Centre for up to 30 guests including a two course meal. A further 20 guests can be added at pro-rata cost.
Rev Mike said the church have been willing to chip-in with their gifts: “This is a group who very much share the belief that marriage is one of God’s great gifts and we want to help people get on that track”.

Marvel Makes History with Its 1st Drag Queen Superhero
Marvel is introducing a drag queen superhero in the latest issue of its Iceman comic book series, which also happens to have a gay lead.
Iceman/Bobby Drake was revealed to be gay in 2015and then came out to his parents and started dating men in the 2017 and 2018 issues. He shares kisses in the series, too.
In the latest issue in the Iceman series — Iceman (2018) # 5, which was released Wednesday — a superhero mutant drag queen named Shade enters the story. Shade is the first-ever drag queen in a Marvel series.
The story was written by openly gay graphic novelist Sina Grace, who shared pictures from the new issue on his Twitter feed. Mashable reported that Shade “possesses teleportation powers” and “can create and enter a pocket dimension inside her handheld folding fan.” Shade’s story will continue in the Uncanny X-Men: Winter’s End series, Grace said.

The Charity Commission will look into what it describes as ‘serious regulatory concerns’ over CAWRM Ltd – known as Jerusalem Merit – the organisation launched after White moved on from FRRME, the charity he founded for his work in the Middle East.
Accusations made by the Commission include unnecessary risks in moving money abroad and unexplained or unauthorised payments to trustees and a private company.
The charity says it is disappointed with the decision by the Commission and claims some of the findings are inaccurate.
While an inquiry takes place, the charity will be required to work under restrictions.
Responding to the decision the trustees of CAWRM said: “We acknowledge the role that the Charity Commission plays in ensuring charities can thrive and inspire trust so that people can improve lives and strengthen society. CAWRM Ltd, also known as Jerusalem Merit, provides much needed support for families from Iraq, who have had to relocate to Jordan as refugees, with no means of financial support, education or basic health care.

Planned Parenthood President Makes it Clear that Abortion Is Their ‘Core Mission’
Planned Parenthood’s new president Dr. Leana Wen recently made it clear that abortion is the organization’s main priority.
Wen recently did an interview with BuzzFeed News where she said she wanted to focus on non-abortion health care options within Planned Parenthood, but when the article can out, she made it clear that abortion is the organization’s “core mission.”
In the interview with BuzzFeed News, Wen said, “The last thing I would want is people to get the impression that we are backing off of our core services.” She continued, “What we will always be here to do is provide abortion access as part of the full spectrum of reproductive health care, it’s who we are.”
“But we also recognize that for so many of our patients we are their only source of health care,” she added.
While her point was made within the body of the article, Wen took issue with its title – “Planned Parenthood President Wants To Focus On Nonabortion Health Care.” The doctor responded to the article’s title on Twitter writing, “I am always happy to do interviews, but these headlines completely misconstrue my vision for Planned Parenthood.”

Speaking in the House of Lords, Justin Welby also said it would a moral failure should the UK leave the European Union without a deal.
The Anglican leader was taking part in a debate in the upper chamber as MPs continued talks in the Commons next door ahead of a vote on the Prime Minister’s plan next Tuesday.
Welby said: “There has to be an agreement in which all accept the need to deliver the will of the people, which was expressed in the referendum. While also recognising that when it was expressed in such a close result there is a duty to build in compromise, an inevitability, albeit unwelcome to some.
“If not there will by default be a no-deal Brexit. That outcome would be not only be a political and practical failure but a moral one, equally as serious as ignoring the result of the referendum entirely.
“My Lords, a second referendum is not my preference, but if Parliament fails in the task entrusted to it, then regrettably it may be required. This is about more than Brexit, and Parliament must not show itself unfit for the job.”
The archbishop also encouraged MPs to work selflessly to ensure the UK thrives going forward.
He said: “As we embrace a challenge that I believe is hope-filled and exciting, of reimagining our country and its structures over the next few years and months, I hope politicians will take it upon themselves to make these crucial decisions…
