Seeds of Destiny 30 December 2018 Devotional – Looking Up At The Cross

Topic: Looking Up at the Cross [Seeds of Destiny 30 December 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:14-15

Thought For The Day: As Jesus was lifted up on the Cross, every sickness and disease of man was crucified with Him.

The children of Israel left the land of Egypt and journeyed through the wilderness with God covering them with His Presence. God fed them with manna but they were not satisfied. They became very discouraged, depressed and agitated and began to speak against Moses and against God. As a result, God released dangerous snakes into their midst and it began to kill them. The people cried to Moses and God told Moses to mould a brass fiery serpent and lift it up on a pole, that anyone bitten by the serpents on the ground should look up at the serpent on the pole and live.

Now, the serpent that was lifted up represented Jesus Christ lifted on the Cross of Calvary. This implies that as Jesus was lifted up on the cross, every sickness and disease of man was crucified with Him. Therefore, as long as you look up at the Cross, you are not permitted to die before your time. This means, looking up unto Jesus Christ on the Cross with your eyes of faith is the key to your healing and deliverance.

Beloved, my counsel is, stop looking at the symptoms and challenges affecting you; keep looking up at Jesus Christ on the Cross who is the solution to every sickness, and you would see the healing of God in your life.

Remember This: As Jesus was lifted up on the Cross, every sickness and disease of man was crucified with Him.

Assignments:

  1. Keep making positive declarations concerning your healing and health.
  2. Do not focus on your challenges, focus on Jesus, your Solution.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for forgiveness from every doubt, murmuring and complaining I may have exhibited in time past. I ask for Your healing and deliverance from every symptom, disease and challenge in my life, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland Devotional 30 December 2018 – Born to Victory

Topic: Born to Victory [Kenneth and Gloria Copeland Devotional 30 December 2018]

I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer….I have overcome the world. – John 16:33, The Amplified Bible

Jesus said as long as you live in the world, you’re going to have trouble. (I can vouch for that!) But you’re not just in the world. You’re in Jesus in the world, and that makes all the difference. You’re in Him and He’s overcome every kind of trouble there is.

As God’s child, you’re not the defeated trying to get victory. You’re the overcomer, and Satan’s trying to rob you of the victory that already belongs to you.

When you made Jesus the Lord of your life, you were born into victory… because the Victor came to live in you. Think about it. The victorious Jesus. The Anointed One. The glorified and resurrected Lord. The Ruler of the Universe.

Cheer up, my friend. Have “perfect peace and confidence.” That’s Jesus who lives in you!

Scripture Reading: John 16:15-33

Andrew Wommack Devotional 30 December 2018 – Use Your Delegated Authority

Topic: Use Your Delegated Authority [Andrew Wommack Devotional 30 December 2018]

Mark 16:18 “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

This either speaks literally of supernatural protection if we pick up a snake, or symbolically of protection in our fight against the devil. Since the other four signs in this list are literal, it is most probable that this means physically taking up snakes.

The apostle Paul experienced this supernatural protection from a viper when he was shipwrecked on the island of Melita (Acts 28:3-5). However, this is the only recorded example of this type of protection in the New Testament.

There is no record of the disciples picking up snakes just to prove they were believers. That would be tempting God (Lk. 4:9-12). This, as well as drinking any deadly thing, is a promise that if we pick up snakes accidentally or are forced into that position because of our stand for Christ, we can believe for supernatural protection.

The power that is now working in believers is the same power that worked in Christ to raise Him from the dead. Everything we have as believers in Christ comes from our union with Him. Therefore, what is true of Him is true of us too. We have come to share in Christ’s throne, to partake in the authority that the throne represents, and to exercise divine power and dominion. There is no place in the New Testament that tells us to ask God to do something about the devil. Rather, we, (the church) are told to do something about the devil. This is because we have been given delegated authority over the works of the enemy. God desires that the church be enlightened to this, and walk in victory.

Billy Graham Devotional 30 December 2018 – Why We Have the Bible

Topic: Why We Have the Bible [Billy Graham Devotional 30 December 2018]

These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God . . . — John 20:31

God caused the Bible to be written for the express purpose of revealing to us God’s plan for His redemption. God caused the Book to be written that He might make His everlasting laws clear to His children, and that they might have His great wisdom to guide them, and His great love to comfort them as they make their way through life. For without the Bible this world would indeed be a dark and frightening place, without signpost or beacon. The Bible easily qualifies as the only book in which God’s revelation is contained.

There are many bibles of different religions; there is the Mohammedan Koran, the Buddhist Canon of Sacred Scripture, the Zoroastrian Zend-Avesta, and the Brahman Veda . . . They all begin with some flashes of true light, and end in utter darkness. Even the most casual observer soon discovers that the Bible is radically different. It is the only Book that offers redemption to us and points the way out of our dilemma.

Prayer for the day: Lord Jesus, as I read Your Word, Your truth shines through and illuminates a dark world.

Our Daily Bread 30 December 2018 Devotional – All Things New

Topic: All Things New [Our Daily Bread 30 December 2018 Devotional]

Read: Revelation 21:1–7, Bible in a Year: Zechariah 13–14; Revelation 21

If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Junkyards intrigue me. I enjoy working on cars, so I frequently make trips to the one near our home. It’s a lonely place, where the wind whispers through discarded hulks that were once someone’s prized possession. Some were wrecked, some wore out, and others simply outlived their usefulness. As I walk between the rows, a car will sometimes catch my eye, and I’ll find myself wondering about the adventures it had during its “lifetime.” Like a portal to the past, each has a story to tell—of human hankering after the latest model and the inescapable passage of time.

But I take particular pleasure in finding new life for an old part. Whenever I can take something discarded and give it new life in a restored vehicle, it feels like a small victory against time and decline.

It sometimes makes me think of Jesus’s words at the end of the Bible: “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:5). These words refer to God’s renewal of creation, which includes believers. Already, all who’ve received Jesus are a “new creation” in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).

And one day we will enter into His promise of unending days with Him (John 14:3). Age and disease will no longer take their toll, and we will continue the adventure of an eternal lifetime. What stories each of us will have to tell—stories of our Savior’s redeeming love and undying faithfulness.

Prayer: Loving Lord, I praise You that I am a new creation in You, and that in Your kindness and mercy You have given me the promise of eternal life.

The end of a year and beginning of another is an opportunity for a fresh start. What might God be making new in your life?

INSIGHT
Today’s passage gives us a glimpse of heaven, describing it as a physical place (vv. 1–2). Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for us (John 14:2–3), and this promise is fulfilled in the New Jerusalem, the holy city (Revelation 21:2). While it’s a great comfort that heaven is a perfect place (v. 4), the most important thing is that it’s the dwelling place of God (v. 3). In this final vision of the beginning of eternity (21:1–22:9), John hears Christ declaring, “It is done” (21:6). The New Living Translation renders it, “It is finished!” echoing Christ’s victorious cry from the cross (John 19:30). Sin’s curse will one day be completely removed and reversed (Revelation 21:4–5; see Genesis 3:16–19).

Open Heaven 30 December 2018 – X-Raying the Heart

Open Heaven 30 December 2018 Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – X-Raying the Heart

Topic: X-Raying the Heart (Open Heaven 30 December 2018)

Memorise: “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”- Matthew 12:35

Read: John 12:3-8 (KJV)

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Bible in One Year: Zechariah 11-14, John 20:24-21:14

Open Heaven 30 December 2018 Sunday MESSAGE:

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” – Hebrews 11:3

From the above scripture, we understand that everything begins and ends with the word of God. Since the word of God is the architect, designer and builder of all that has ever existed. It means that nothing is hidden from its reach and power. This is good news to all lovers of God’s word. There is no hiding place for Satan to buffet you if the word of Good is your teacher and guide. In today’s world, a lot of people hate the word of God, particularly those aspects that seem to encroach on their pleasures and “fundamental human rights” such as homosexuality, incest, bestiality, alcoholism, smoking and drug addiction. Many hate what God’s word says about these acts not only because they indulge in them but also because these acts serve as the means of livelihood for some of them. I encourage such people to receive the good news of change that come through God’s word today, because the same word will stand to condemn them on the Day of Judgment if they continue to ignore it now. On the Day of Judgment, not only will God judge our acts, He will also judge the intent of our hearts, and He is already doing this today with His word (Hebrews 4:12).

In today’s Bible reading, we see how the word of God x-rayed the intent of Judas Iscariot’s heart. A woman came with costly ointment to anoint Jesus’ feet, and Judas Iscariot, being Jesus’ treasurer, saw this as a waste of resources. Besides the fact that Judas was wrong to condemn a sacrifice offered to Jesus, the word of God exposes the real reason he was “concerned” about keeping the money “for the poor”. John 12:6 says:

“This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.”

Today, some church treasurers may not support the acquisition of anything befitting for God’s house because the greater the credit balance in the church account, the more funds available for them to steal. Dealing with the rottenness of man’s hearts is very important to God because it controls their words and actions. A person who goes to church indecently dressed has more than meets the eye in his or her heart. When a man begins to plait his hair in the name of “fashion”, he needs to re-examine the motivations of his heart. A pastor who indiscriminately hugs congregation members should watch it with the opposite sex. Erotic jokes are an overflow of what is in the heart; don’t trivialize or condone them. May the Lord clear all forms of rottenness from our hearts in Jesus’ Name.

Father, please clear away all rottenness in my heart, and help me to keep myself pure as light.

Open Heaven 30 December 2018 Sunday Hymn 15: Nearer My God To Thee

1. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness comes over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

3. There let me see the sight, an open Heaven;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

Understanding the Power of Christmas by Pastor Paul Enenche

HEALING, DELIVERANCE AND BREAKTHROUGH CHRISTMAS SERVICE – 25TH DECEMBER 2018
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): LUKE 2:8-16
MESSAGE TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF CHRISTMAS
BY: DR. PAUL ENENCHE

SERVICE OBJECTIVES:

  1. Understanding the power of Jesus’ birth
  2. Understanding what it takes to access that power
  3. There are 2 significant events in the history of mankind where God manifested His power in very unusual ways

GOD MANIFESTED HIS POWER IN UNUSUAL WAYS IN THE FOLLOWING EVENTS:

  1. The conception and birth of Jesus Christ
  2. The death and resurrection of His Son

WHAT KIND OF POWER DID WE SEE IN THE CONCEPTION AND BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST?

1. The power of supernatural conception
1a. It is the Divine human incarnation
It is the process of the Son of God becoming the Son of man
It is when the Divine became human and the celestial became terrestrial
Inside human flesh, the immeasurable God became captured
It was as if Mount Everest was swallowed up by a speck of dust!
You need an elasticity of mentality to comprehend the of complexity of Divinity

1b. It is the unnatural conception
It was a conception that did not follow the normal rules

1c. It is the Immaculate conception
Everyone was conceived in sin except the Son of God
Connection to Divinity is the doorway to unbelievable possibility
You cannot fully comprehend, calculate, understand, predict or prognosticate the life of a man connected to God
Stop hindering, limiting or localising your life
Never apologise for the unusual; if God chooses to do the incomprehensible, you owe no devil no explanation

2. The power of prophetic fulfilment (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23; Micah 5:2; Luke 2:1-4)
The birth of Jesus came as a confirmation of the immutability, unchangeability and inflexibility of God’s Word
2a. Prophecy fulfilled about the virgin birth (Isa. 7:14)
2b. Prophecy fulfilled about the place of birth (Micah 5:2; Luke 2:1-4)
When the time came for Mary to deliver, God moved on the Emperor to make a decree that will make
Mary to be found where the prophecy predicted
There is an invisible working in the visible realms of men
Every prophecy of God is history spoken in advance; every prophecy of God is history waiting to happen
God will always rearrange situations to line up with His declarations to His people
Beyond human visibility there is Divine activity for the fulfilment of human destiny

3. The power of supernatural delivery
Everything God speaks, He releases His Hand to perform
When the Mouth of God speaks a Word, the Hands of God move to work

4. The power of supernatural sustenance
This is the power of preservation
Jesus was born in a stable with the risk of all manner of infection but He grew up with no trace of sickness
Where you were born is not as important as how you end; how you began is not as important as how you finish
Jesus was born in a manger but He is the King of kings and Lord of lords
Obscurity most times is the hiding place for notoriety
If God is your Source, you won’t have to beg Him to be your Sustainer
The One Who is your Source is also your Sustenance and Sustainer
If God calls you he keeps you; If He calls you He hides you and no devil can find whom God has hidden

5. The power of supernatural announcement (Luke 2:8-20; Matt. 2:1-3)
Those who are on the earth to fulfil God’s purpose access God’s publicity
When your assignment is to give Him fulfillment, He will give you announcement.
You don’t need to struggle to make yourself known if you have a passion to make God known to your generation
God can announce your business if that business is Kingdom-oriented

Also Read: Celebrating Christmas (The Birth of Christ) By Pastor Paul Enenche

SECRETS OF THE POWER OF CHRISTMAS:

  1. Being overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:34-35; Eph. 5:18-19)
The Holy Spirit is the Companion of those who understand communion, fellowship and intimacy with God
  2. Being overshadowed by the power and the purpose of God (Luke 1:34-35)
When you come to that point in life where your own agenda is packed aside and the plan and purpose
of God becomes your purpose, you will see power
The best place to be is in the centre of God’s Will

PRAYERS
Father, thank You for Your Word to us today

Father, I come before You today connecting with the power of supernatural conception, the power of prophetic
fulfilment in your life, the power of supernatural delivery, sustenance and announcement in my life, in Jesus’ Name!

Father, I come before You today. Overwhelm me by Your Spirit and overshadow me by the power of Your purpose. I surrender my will into Your Hands. Do with me Lord what You want to do. I am ready and available. Have Your Way Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

  • In the Name of Jesus Christ our resurrected Lord, everything not working in your system is commanded to work now!
  • In this season, you are going to see the possibilities of God like you have never seen before!
  • Jehovah God is about to move people, systems and institutions on your behalf until His Word in your life comes to pass!
  • The most impossible person shall be moved to make the Word of God come to pass in your life!
  • Every Word of God to you that seems to be delaying, they shall be fulfilled with accuracy!

Egypt militants ‘plotting church attacks’ killed hours after tourist bus blast

According to the interior ministry, they also planned to target government and tourism sites, as well as army and police staff.

The news broke on Saturday hours after four people were killed when a bomb blast struck a tourist bus near the Giza Pyramids (pictures). Three Vietnamese tourists and their Egyptian guide died.

In a new statement, government officials said 40 militants died when security forces stormed hideouts in the Sinai Peninsula and the Greater Cairo area.

They reported that ten were killed during a raid in the coastal city of el-Arish in the unstable north of Sinai.

A further 14 died in a suburb of Cairo, while there were 16 more deaths in a housing project to the west of the capital.

For years, Egypt has been battling in the peninsula against an Islamic insurgency which has occasionally seen violence spill over onto the mainland – affecting Christians or tourists.

Attacks on believers – often targeting churches or buses travelling towards remote monasteries – have killed more than 100 people.

Associated Press said Friday’s attack will prompt authorities to go further in tightening security around church buildings ahead of next month’s Coptic Orthodox Church Christmas celebrations.

10% of clergy have suffered violence at work

Surveying hundreds of vicars, academics also found 68 per cent and 19 per cent had experienced verbal abuse or threatening behaviour respectively.

Professor Jonathan Gabe from the School of Law at Royal Holloway said: “The clergy have a difficult job, especially when faced with the risk of violence, as documented in our survey.

“The research suggests that further thought needs to be given as to how best to help clergy manage when faced with such violence.”

The government-funding poll concluded that mental illness, declined requests for money and alcohol or drugs were among the main reasons behind the verbal abuse clergy encountered.

postleship of the Sea via Flickr

Commissioned by the National ChurchWatch, it found more than one-third of those who experienced threatening behaviour had done so multiple times.

Nick Tolson, the Director of National Churchwatch, said: “These figures are a reminder that clergy have to deal with difficult circumstances where they are at risk of violence.

“It is vital that they receive training in dealing with these issues.”

Pollsters remark on Rev Billy Graham’s ‘notable’ absence from list of most admired living men

Pollsters at the Washington DC-based company noted how the US evangelist featured in their top ten lists a record 61 times – more than any other person

Publishing the new findings, they said: “The top ten list this year is notable for the absence of two men who often ranked high but who passed away in 2018, Senator John McCain and Rev Billy Graham.”

Former US President Barack Obama topped Gallup’s 2018 most admire men list, while incumbent US President Donald Trump and former leader George W Bush came second and third, respectively.

The pollsters continued: “Rev Graham was in the top ten every year from 1955 through 2017, with the exception of 1962. Graham never finished first, but he was second eight times, most recently in 1999.”

Rev Graham died at his home in North Carolina in February 2018 – aged 99.

Gallup asked Americans earlier this month which living man and woman they most admired anywhere in the world. Pope Francis was voted the fourth-most admired man.

Former US First Lady Michelle Obama topped the females list, unseating Democrat politician Hillary Clinton from the number one spot for the first time in 17 years.
