Sustaining a Godly Home By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Sustaining a Godly Home By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Sustaining a Godly Home

Dear Reader,

Peace and blessings in the precious name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I welcome you to another interesting edition of these teaching series. Last week, I started teaching on the topic: Sustaining a Godly Home.

I said in the first week that a godly home is not just a family where everyone is a Christian; but much more, a Christ-like home. That is the home run by the principles of Jesus, a home run according to the demands of scriptures; which represent God’s mind, ways and styles. But, the man and the woman individually have important responsibilities to carry out to see the home sustained.

In continuation of our series, another vital tool for sustaining a godly home is Wisdom. The man and the woman both need to constantly request wisdom from God for their day to day affairs in the home. The Bible says: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). Wisdom is a builder and sustainer of the home. It is in fact the master builder. According to Paul, he says: The grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon (1 Corinthians 3:10). Let me say here that the family is a building that its foundation was laid at the onset of marriage but it takes wisdom to keep adding building blocks to ensure the foundation does not get destroyed. No wonder Apostle Paul said “let every man take heed HOW he buildeth. As the home is built on wisdom, it will also require wisdom to sustain it; else it will be pulled down by the storms of life or the devil. But without the devil at work, a home that lacks wisdom can also be pull down by foolishness. The Bible says: Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands (Proverbs 14:1).

Wisdom teaches you how to do things the right way and at the right time. Let me share the testimony of a sister with you.

“I’ve been married for over 12 years now and what I’m enjoying now, I’ve never enjoyed since I got married. Our mother in the Lord preached that day and laid emphasis on wives being submissive to their husbands in everything, just like the church submits to Christ. She also said we were to be submissive in everything. I didn’t realise that I wasn’t totally submissive to my husband. I wept so much in church that day and went to the Lord saying, ‘Lord, from this day, I know that obedience is the key.’ Ever since that day I’ve been enjoying what all my fasting and binding couldn’t deliver to me. I did so many things to get my husband to love me—fasted, bound, loosed;—but, I thank God that now it’s like I’m wedded anew. Not quite long, to confirm God’s faithfulness in my home, my husband gave me a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Naira, which I have cashed. I now enjoy peace, love and harmony. The Lord has turned around the tide, through my obedience to the Word. Praise God.”

When you embrace God’s wisdom, your home begins to shine as gold. People cannot help but be attracted to you, just as the glitter of gold attracts people. The Word of God says: Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine (Ecclesiastes 8:1). I see you shinning more and more in your home in Jesus’ name!

For your home to be sustained you need wisdom which comes from God when you ask Him. James 1:5 says: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Whenever you are faced with a situation that requires wisdom in your home just pray a simple prayer, asking Him to give you wisdom to handle the situation, and it shall be given to you.

God’s wisdom can only be revealed to you by accepting Jesus into your life and becoming His child, if you have not asked Jesus to come into your life or you have neglected your initial love for Him, then, you should say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today, and let your wisdom be made available to me. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom. Amen. Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are born again and that makes you a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21). With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ name! TREM Devotional 19 December 2018 – The Greater One Is In You

Topic: The Greater One Is In You [TREM Devotional 19 December 2018]

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 Jn. 4:4

It is so easy to get caught in the hullabaloo of the world, to forget that you are not at the same level with the world. Yes, you are in the world, but never forget that you are not of the world. I know that the people in the world might be at the same academic level with you, they may even have more experience than you, but what makes you stand out is not you and your experience and expertise, it is whom you have on the inside. It is the God-factor in you that makes a difference. That is what keeps you at the leading edge.

When men say there is a casting down; it is the God-factor that gives you the boldness to declare that there is a lifting for you. When all others are downcast, you square-up your shoulder and walk like the prince or princess that you are. Not because of who you are, but because of Whose you are.

It is not about power or might. Look at the scripture above again: it did not say; you are of God, oh giant. No! It says you are of God, little children. This implies that in stature you might look small, in experience you might not be able to compete, but when it comes to the God-factor, every human element bows and you have the upper hand. When you really know who you carry on the inside of you, you will square up your shoulders and walk with your head held high.

I challenge you today to begin to see yourself in the way God sees you. Don’t look at the scripture once and forget about it. Meditate on it until you become one with the fact that it is not about you; it is about God in you. It is Jesus on the inside that makes the difference.

MFM Daily Devotional 19 December 2018 – Bearing Fruits in Old Age (I)

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 19 December 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Bearing Fruits in Old Age (I)

TOPIC: Bearing Fruits in Old Age (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 19 December 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 2:25-38

MEMORY VERSE: “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.”Psalms 92:14

The MESSAGE:

In the world today, many negative traits are associated with old age: I’ll health, failing eyesight, failing memory or senility, lower productivity and so on. It is therefore assumed that an old or aged person is physically and mentally weak as well as unproductive. The Scripture however associates some positive traits with old age. One of the traits is wisdom. The other one is the fact that the righteous shall bring forth fruit in old age and they shall be fat and flourishing.

In the New Testament, two characters stood out as people who bore fruits in old age. They were the devout and just old man called Simeon and the prophetess called Anna. Both Simeon and Anna were known in the temples as godly intercesssors. The Holy Spirit was upon Simeon and he had prayed for several years for the consolation of Israel and the coming of the Messiah. He was led to the temple be the Spirit of God; He carried Jesus, blessed Him and prophesied about Him. Prophetess Anna too came to the temple and spoke of Jesus to everyone in the temple.

Beloved grandpa and grandma, the Bible says that Anna did not depart from the temple but served God with fasting and prayer night and day. At four score and four years the Holy Spirit was upon her and she was bearing good fruits. I encourage you to emulate Simeon and Anna.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
A TRUE BELIEVER IS EMPOWERED TO BE AN ALL-SEASON FRUIT-BEARING TREE.

PROPHETIC WORD:
You will bear fruits continuously and your fruits will abide.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. The enemy will not harvest my soul, in the name of Jesus.
  2. O Lord, make me an all-season fruit-bearing tree, in Jesus’ name.
  3. I will bear fruit in old age, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. Father, make me productive in Your kingdom throughout my lifetime, in Jesus’ name.
  2. Father, teach me to use the wisdom of old age to bless the younger generation, in Jesus’ name.
  3. My health and strength will not fail. I shall serve the Lord successfully till old age, in Jesus’ name.
  4. The sickness and problems associated with old age will not touch me nor stop me, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens for Teens 19 December 2018 – Rest

Topic: Rest [Open Heavens for Teens 19 December 2018]

Memorise: He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:2

Read: Mark 6:31 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Micah 1-3, Revelation 10

MESSAGE:

OUR God is the creator of the Heaven and the earth. He created the world in six days and on the seventh day, He rested. This implies that for six days, our Father worked tirelessly, but on the seventh day, He saw the need to rest. If God saw the need to rest, then rest can’t be over emphasized to men.

As a teen, you may have so many things on your plate all at the same time; school work, sports, extracurricular activities, church, house chores, and so on. As a teen you still have enough physical power to deal with these things well, but you must never neglect the wellbeing of your body; you must always take out time to rest once in a while. Note, the Bible says that God rested after He had finished with creation. Never use the need to rest as an excuse to be lazy. Make sure you don’t rest at the wrong time.

Key Point: Resting at the wrong time will amount to failure

Hymn 2:

  1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove the delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

DCLM Daily Manna 19 December 2018 – The Battle Is The Lord’s

Topic: The Battle Is The Lord’s [DCLM Daily Manna 19 December 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: 1 Samuel 17:38-51 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:47).

MESSAGE:

The enemy’s stature was greatly intimidating. A giant, he was! In warfare, he was a veteran; an undefeatable champion of his time. His weapons, built for his defence and for the destruction of his opponents were unique. He was proud, boastful and confident of his victory. His name is Goliath of Gath.

On the other side was a lad, untested in professional warfare, inexperienced in the intricacies of battle, fair in complexion and delicately built. He had never been to the battle front in his life because he had been taking his father’s sheep for grazing. Though ready to take up the challenge of the boastful opponent, he could not use the armour provided by the commander-in-chief of his own army, King Saul. He went into the combat only in his shepherd’s clothing with a sling and five smooth stones. With just one shot, the enemy fell. His name is David.

David’s victory came through his belief and confession. “The battle is the LORD’S”. His trust in God is unequalled. Like David, when accosted by an enemy, a situation or a challenge that seems to dwarf us, we should quickly realise and confess that we have the One who has never lost a battle. He is the Lord of hosts.

Whatever we see in the physical appearance and whatever we hear from or about our opponent must not be allowed to make us doubt the power of our mighty God or to shake our faith in Him. No doubt, there could be suggestions to use other strange and untried instruments of warfare. A Christian should resolutely say, “on Christ the solid Rock I stand”. And God will make us to be more than conquerors.

Thought For The Day: Those who put God in the forefront of their warfare will never know defeat.

Seeds of Destiny 19 December 2018 Devotional – The Inverse Relationship between Sin and Prayer

Topic: The Inverse Relationship between Sin and Prayer [Seeds of Destiny 19 December 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Matthew 6:9-12.

Thought For The Day: When you protect yourself from sin, you preserve your relationship with God.

The lifestyle of prayer and the life of sin are diametrically opposed, mutually exclusive, inversely proportional and absolutely antithetical to each other. That is why prayer cannot be effective in the life of a Christian who is living in sin. One of the major objectives of sin is the attack on a person’s relationship with God. The decision to sin is a decision against prayer and the decision to pray is a decision against sin.

Therefore, it is important that sin be dealt with first before prayer becomes effective.

Now, how does sin affect prayer life?

Prayer keeps people from sin and sin keeps people from praying. Those who pray more sin less and those who pray less sin more. The life of prayer and the life of sin are mutually exclusive and diametrically opposed; they do not exist together. The flow of prayer becomes a struggle when sin is involved.

Sin broke Adam’s relationship with his Creator. Adam was kicked out of the Garden on the platform of sin.

The greatest loss on earth is not the loss of money, job or a relationship but the loss of the relationship between man and his Maker; that is an eternal loss, if it is not recovered.

Beloved, when you protect yourself from sin, you preserve your relationship with God. It is your choice to keep yourself with God always. Shun every appearance of sin in your life; and if you have already fallen into sin, rise up, confess your sin, repent of your sin and sin no more. Decide to pray always in order to remain in God’s Presence.

Remember This: When you protect yourself from sin, you preserve your relationship with God.

Assignments:

  1. Pray without ceasing
  2. Distance yourself from every wrong relationship or association that may lead you into sin and hinder your prayer life.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You keep me in Your Presence always. Keep me away from every hindrance and distraction, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 19 December 2018 – Friends of the King

Open Heaven 19 December 2018 Wednesday Daily Devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Friends of the King

Topic: Friends of the King (Open Heaven 19 December 2018)

Memorise: “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”John 15:14

Read: John 15:13-15 (KJV)

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Bible in One Year: Amos 4-6, John 13:31-14:14

Open Heaven 19 December 2018 Wednesday MESSAGE:

Very large part of our day activities is based on relationships and connections with other people. For example, if you want something done at a bank that involves a lot of processes, you will naturally begin to think of someone you know in that bank that can help you speed things up. Many people maintain friendship with certain people not because they actually like them, but because they know that those people will be useful to them one way or another. There is a popular saying that your network is your net-worth. In other words, with a good network of influential friends, things that are difficult for others to get done will be easy for you. Some people are very powerful not because they hold any position of power or wealth, but because they have friends in high places.

If having friends in high places is very beneficial to attaining your goals, how much more having the Most High as your Friend? Anyone who is friends with God has unlimited power and influence. There is no contract or job that God cannot help you get, there is no position too high for Him to reach, there is no heart too hard for Him to influence in your favor, and there is absolutely no door that He cannot open. Unfortunately, many people who profess to be Christians are actually not friends with God.

Friendship is like fire; if tended properly, that fire will burn for a very long time. No friendship will stay alive if it is not properly and constantly maintained. God wants you to seek him with your heart and not through activities. Many Christians concentrate so much on religious activities that they stop tending to their relationship with God for a very long time, to the point that they have no intimacy with Him. Some would rather be on the pulpit in front of people than alone with God just communing with Him. No wonder Jesus Christ says that some people who thought they had been working for Him would be turned away like strangers on the last day. Matthew 7:21-23 says:

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Further confirming the words of this scripture, today’s memory verse says that only those who do His commandments are His friends. Are you His friend?

Open Heaven 19 December 2018 Wednesday Key Point:

Jesus Christ is the only friend that really matters.

  1. My faith looks up to Thee,
    Thou Lamb of Calvary,
    Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
    Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
    Be wholly Thine!
  2. May Thy rich grace impart
    Strength to my fainting heart,
    My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
    Pure, warm, and changeless be,
    A living fire!
  3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
    And griefs around me spread,
    Be Thou my guide;
    Bid darkness turn to day,
    Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
    Nor let me ever stray
    From Thee aside.
  4. When ends life’s transient dream,
    When death’s cold, sullen stream
    Shall o’er me roll;
    Blest Savior, then in love,
    Fear and distrust remove;
    Oh, bear me safe above,
    A ransomed soul!

Mattel to Meet with Gay Couple to Discuss Barbie Same-Sex “Wedding” Set

Mattel to Meet with Gay Couple to Discuss Barbie Same-Sex “Wedding” Set

Mattel, the well-known manufacturer of Barbie, is considering accepting a proposal to create a toy line which would depict same-sex “wedding” dolls.

Nick Caprio and Matt Jacobi are a gay couple residing in Arizona, who have big plans to get “married” next May. In comments on Instagram and to ABC 15, the pair say that they wanted to get a special gift for Jacobi’s 8-year-old niece, who will also be acting as a flower girl in the spring “wedding”. Some may know Jacobi as a reality TV personality on E! And as a contributor to Instinct Magazine.

“We thought it would be special to give her something with a little meaning behind it,” Jacobi said in a post addressed to Mattel. “What a bummer you don’t make one with two grooms.” The pair’s solution to this dilemma was to purchase a Barbie wedding set in addition to an extra Ken doll, creating a package with a total of two grooms and two flower girls.

An article from Lifesite News reports that the post quickly grabbed the attention of Mattel, with a spokesperson confirming to Good Morning America that the company has extended an invitation to the men for a meeting which will give them an opportunity to discuss their pitch.

“Mattel has been wonderful and we are meeting with the head of Barbie design, their design team and marketing – either next Friday or the first week of January,” Jacobi…

Gospel Singer Donnie McClurkin Sends Thanks to God after Surviving a Car Accident that Could Have Ended His Life

Gospel Singer Donnie McClurkin Sends Thanks to God after Surviving a Car Accident that Could Have Ended His Life

“Was in a serious accident at 12:50am this morning…passed out while driving on the highway. Totaled the car…hospitalized, going through a myriad of tests…..But I’m alive!!!” McClurkin wrote in a post to Facebook.

“Lost consciousness driving…but two human angels followed my swerving car with their emergency blinkers onto stop traffic ….drove behind me until my car crashed into the middle concrete island. I remember none of it except those two angels pulling me out of the passengers side of the crumbled TOTALED car..airbags deployed…crushed metal and Fiberglas,” he added.

McClurkin mentioned he was left “somewhat mangled” with a “sprained wrist, hurt knee” and stitches.

“Two angels saved my life! I owe them…I am still here by the grace of God!

Thank you, Lord…thank you!” he concluded.

Doctors pushed the Christian artist to rest and recover, but the gospel singer had a different plan in mind.

“I overrode doctors and sisters advice and flew to KENYA today for ministry Saturday @ TWO RIVERS. and home on this Sunday to celebrate life,” he wrote. ‘My new Christmas single “MY FAVORITE THINGS” has one more thing added to the list….LIFE!”

The recording artist stated that he is still “hurting and limping” but the most important part, he says, is that, “I’m STILL HERE!!!”

Iranians ‘Disillusioned with Islam’ Are Fleeing Country, Converting to Christianity

Iranians ‘Disillusioned with Islam’ Are Fleeing Country, Converting to Christianity

Iranian refugees in Turkey are converting from Islam to Christianity in such numbers that churches can’t keep up with the demand, experts in the region say.

Sebnem Koser Akcapar, a sociology professor at Istanbul’s Koç University, told National Public Radio, that the numbers of Iranian converts to Christianity has “grown tremendously over the years.”

“A small church consisting of 20 to 30 families has become a much bigger congregation housing 80 to 100 people on a regular Sunday,” she told NPR.

One of those converts is 37-year-old Farzana, who didn’t give her last name for fear of her safety. Converts from Islam to Christianity in Iran can face the death penalty.

“It feels good. Our relationship to God becomes closer,” Farzana told NPR of her new faith.

She walked away from Islam because of the way Iran treats women. She had divorced her abusive husband, but a court gave him custody of the children.

“Mostly because of this I became disillusioned with Islam,” she said. “That judge sitting there and giving orders was completely siding with men. Everywhere in Iran men come before women.”

A friend who was a convert introduced Farzana to Christianity.

“Once she began trusting me, she gave me photocopied writings and said, ‘I’m giving these to you as a gift. Go read them. These are the word of God,’”…
