Topic: Accessing the Anointing of the Holy Spirit for Conquest!

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. Today, we shall focus on: Accessing the Anointing of the Holy Spirit for Conquest!

From scriptures, we understand that conquest has its roots in God. This is why the Bible categorically states that He has made us more than conquerors. It is written: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:37).Conquerors are made by God. They are men who consistently win in battles through the backing of God and as such know no defeat. They are men that can only be defeated when it becomes possible to defeat God. Of course, we all know that God cannot be defeated.

Conquest is the act of conquering. That one is involved in a battle does not make him a conqueror. That he is a winner does not make him a conqueror either. The conqueror is one who consistently wins in battles. A conqueror is someone who is permanently registered on the winning side. They are men with the hand of the Lord upon them. As long as the hand of the Lord is upon us, our conquering is established. Every time Samson conquered, it was always preceded by the phrase “And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him.” As it is written: And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house (Judges 14:19). The Holy Spirit is the power backup of God. He is the generator of the anointing. As long as the anointing was upon Samson, he prevailed. There is an anointing that makes battles cheap and there is power that makes conquerors out of ordinary men. There are two people in the Bible that lived a conquering lifestyle. They are David, the man after God’s heart and Jesus, the First Begotten of the Father.

What, then, are the Weapons of Conquest?

Fearlessness: We live in a world where the fearless reign and the fearful are slaves. Fear is a thief and a robber that has robbed great men of their great destinies. It brings a glorious future to naught. It holds kings captive. The man who will conquer is the one who will not be afraid. Fearlessness is the conqueror’s backbone for exploits and achievements. Fear leads to destruction. It takes one to the depth of hardship and frustration. Remember, it is written: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).A fearful believer is powerless against satan. For instance, Elijah was a great man of God, known for his fearlessness. Also, King David was a fearless warrior who knew no fear and he conquered. We saw how Goliath and the host of the philistines fell into his hands because of his fearless stance. In the same vein, Jesus Christ knew no defeat. He was fearless in the face of every situation. Fear is a spirit, and it does no good to anyone. So,resist it and you will prevail in every circumstance of life. The cure for fear is the presence of God. This connotes that the presence of God drives away fear. The Bible says: …I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5; Matthew 28:20). Only those who are conscious of God’s presence with them and the power He wields will conqueror. They are the strong ones who will do exploits. David knew His God and was constantly conscious of His presence. This eliminated fear from him and he spoke out boldly: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me (Psalm 23:4). The valley of the shadow of death is one place greatly feared by men.

Obedience to Divine Instructions: Divine instructions are very vital in the accomplishment of any task. The man that will conquer is the one who asks for and receives instructions from God. Listening to the voice of God leads to enthronement. One of the greatest secrets for David’s outstanding success was his reliance on divine instruction. Every step he took was based on instructions he received from God. He was a master at making enquires and he took nothing for granted. In Jesus’ ministry, He always listened to and obeyed the voice of the Father. He never did anything by Himself. He operated on divine signals. He knew the power of God is only manifested when one follows God’s signals. This was why He did not rush to Bethany to heal Lazarus when He was told he was sick. He waited for God’s instructions and the power of God was made manifest. Concerning Jesus, the Bible records: …and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things (John 8:28). He acted on God’s instructions, no wonder He was the Conqueror of conquerors.

The Blood: Every life is sustained by the blood and life is also embedded in the Word. This means every time we release revelation from the Word, we release His blood missiles against our enemies (Revelations 12:11).Thus, when you begin to unleash the Word, you are engaging the strong hold of the blood to get back whatever is stolen from you.

In summary, there is strength that goes with heeding divine instructions in getting tasks accomplished. This is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This is the Anointing that makes conquerors out of ordinary men. It is available to us as members of the body of Christ. We can register ourselves with the conquerors today by being born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”

MESSAGE:

One of the ways by which you can identify the wise is by what he hears. God has given everyone the right to determine what to hear and what not to hear. What you hear doesn’t stop at your ear gate but goes into your heart, affects your actions and reactions and can determine your destiny. If your ears are open to unwholesome words such as gossips, backbiting, erotic talk, then you are not wise. If you listen to and enjoy worldly songs, you are not acting wise.

A wise fellow deliberately selects what he hears. He listens to what edifies him. You will know the wise fellow by the length of time he gives to the Word of God; reading the Bible, listening to messages and healthy music. The wise only listen to things that will stir up the fire of consecration in them. Are you wise? Do the things you listen to build you up or tear you down?

Key Point: Wise people have filters at their ear gate to sieve what they hear.

Alaska Is Hit by a Damaging 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake


A massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Alaska Friday morning prompting a tsunami warning for the state, which was later canceled. 


According to CNN News, the earthquake struck around 8:30 am local time, approximately eight miles north of the state’s largest city, Anchorage. 


The United States Geological Survey reports that the quake was “the result of normal faulting at a depth of about 40 km.”


The USGS also noted that earthquakes are common in this area of Alaska. According to the USGS website, “Earthquakes are common in this region. Over the past century, 14 other M 6+ earthquakes have occurred within 150 km of the November 30, 2018 event.”


Following the quake, videos began to surface showing students hiding under desks and inventory falling off of shelves in grocery stores, NBC reports. 


The outlet also reported that Alaska’s governor Bill Walker has issued a major declaration of disaster after the quake and is communicating with the White House for relief.


The Anchorage Police Department released a statement following the quake noting that “There is major infrastructure damage across Anchorage.”


The statement continues, “Many homes and buildings are damaged. Many roads and bridges are closed. Stay off the roads if you don’t need to drive. Seek a safe shelter. Check on your surroundings and loved ones.”

Have Archaeologists Uncovered Pontius Pilate’s Ring?


Archaeologists have uncovered a 2,000-year-old “stamping ring” that dates to the time of Christ and may have belonged to Pontius Pilate, the biblical figure who was involved in condemning Jesus to death. 


The copper ring shows a krater — a jar that was used for watering down wine — along with a Greek inscription that reads, “Of Pilate,” according to The Jerusalem Times. 


Pilate was the Roman governor of Judea from A.D. 26-36. The ring dates from the first century B.C. to the mid-first century A.D.


Details about the find were published in the Israel Exploration Journal. There is no guarantee that the ring belonged to Pontius Pilate. But the possibility is intriguing, said Roi Porat, an archaeologist involved in the discovery.  


“It was important to publish a careful scientific article,” Porat told the Times of Israel. “But in practice we have a ring inscribed with the name Pilate and the personal connection just cries out.”


Pilate is mentioned in all four Gospels. In Luke 23:22, Pilate seems reluctant to crucify Christ: “What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty.” He also famously asked Jesus: “What is truth?” (John 18:38).

Christian actress Candace Cameron Bure sat down with Wendy Williams on Tuesday where she revealed how Hollywood had discriminated against her for her Christian faith in the past.


Bure was on the Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday to promote her new Hallmark Christmas movie A Shoe Addict’s Christmas. In the interview, Williams ask the 90s sitcom superstar if she had ever felt Hollywood push back at her because of her Christian faith.


Bure said, “I have experienced discrimination in the faith department for sure, in my career. But I don’t experience it so much right now.”


“I don’t experience it as much now, I think because so many people know me for it. I think they look to me for my faith. If they’re not looking for that, they don’t hire me,” she added.


Williams then asked Bure if she could give an example of a time that her faith has affected her career. 


Bure said, “I had been booked for things and then I would get canceled like a few days before.”


She continued, “The booker would go ‘OH yeah, we don’t want her on.’”


The Christian actress noted that that particular experience had happened to her a handful of times and indicated to her that there was a bias against her because of her faith.

Open Heaven 1 December 2018 Saturday MESSAGE:

Today’s Bible text and memory verse reveal the blessing of dying the death of the righteous. As long as Jesus tarries, everyone including Christians will either be in a state of righteousness or unrighteousness. The question you need to answer is which state you will be in when your time comes.

The Holy Spirit has made it clear that there is nothing we can do of our own accord to attain righteousness in Isaiah 64:6, He said:

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

Who then are the righteous? Paul, in his letter to the Romans, explains that we only become righteous when we submit ourselves to the righteousness of God made available through Jesus Christ. Romans 10:3-4 says:

“3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

Beloved, if the Lord calls for your soul today, will your death be that of the righteous? If we look at the other side of what the Spirit is saying in Revelation 14:13, He clearly warns that anyone who does not die in Christ will have everlasting unrest. This will not be our portion in Jesus’ Name.

Submitting to the righteousness of God is not just about giving your life to Christ, but rather a continuous journey of submitting to God’s will and living daily for Him. Beloved, can you boldly say that you are living a life that is in total submission to God’s will? Can you say that you have a relationship with God where you commune with Him and know what He wants you to do with your life daily? The temple veil that prevented the children of God from having direct relationship with Him was torn on the day of crucifixion, signifying that everyone can now relate with God personally (Matthew 27:51, Hebrews 4:16). This is the foundation of living a righteous life and the source of assurance that all you are doing is in line with His will for you. I pray that you will have a deeper relationship with God from today.

Franklin Graham Shares a Message of Hope as Suicide Rates Rise in America


Evangelist Franklin Graham says as suicide rates rise in the country, “people need hope.”


“People need hope. And hope comes from a relationship with God through His Son. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin to save us from our sins and from hopelessness,” he wrote on his Facebook page.


Graham’s comments come after the National Center for Health Statistics released a report this year that said the suicide rate in the U.S. jumped up by 33 percent between 1999 and 2017.


According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 47,000 Americans committed suicide in 2017. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the country.


“If you have ever thought about suicide, I want you to remember that there is always hope in Christ. God loves you and can help you through the problems you face. He has a plan for your life. Turn to Him today,” Graham said.


This isn’t the first time Graham has addressed suicide in the country. In 2016, he said it was “heart-breaking” and “incredibly tragic” that some 20 U.S. veterans commit suicide each day.


According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, 20 veterans a day committed suicide in 2014.


“In 2014, more than 7,000 veterans died at their own hands — that’s more than the entire 15-year war on terror. This is incredibly tragic,” Graham said in his Facebook post.

Joanna Gaines, well-known interior designer to HGTV fans,  has recently launched a new clothing line which includes pieces created for baby boys. 


 


This will be Gaines’ second collection with Matilda Jane clothing, and will feature items created for women, tweens, girls, and baby boys. 


 


The Fixer Upper star  stated in a press release: “I wanted this collection with Matilda Jane to reflect the joy and beauty that comes with this season, so you’ll see richer colors and nostalgic patterns in a lot of these pieces.” 


 


The collection is set to be released on December 1. 


 


Her previous collaboration with Matilda Jane Clothing was comprised of household items such as pillowcases, quilts, aprons — even a picnic and tea party set for kids.


 


“Our last collaboration with Joanna Gaines was such a hit, we’re thrilled to do it again,” noted Madeline Katzel, design director for Matilda Jane. “This time, we’ve expanded our line to include a darling bodysuit and overalls for baby brother, as well as new layette items and even an easy maxi dress for women.”

Andrea Williams, the director of Christian Concern, says she understands that renovation costs for historic buildings are high. But she is concerned about a cathedral having links to any form of gambling.

“The cathedral needs to be asking itself some tough questions in terms of where it’s seeking the money from.

“Let’s pray and hope that this cathedral (and) the building itself will point to the glory of God. There’s no need for a lottery ticket.”

 

Theo Platt from Gloucester Cathedral defends the promotion and highlights the significant funding provided by the National Lottery. 

“Over the past four years, the cathedral’s benefited from a £4.2 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore and develop key parts of the building.

“We’re participating in the #ThanksToYou campaign to show out appreciation for the support given towards this crucial work.”

The cathedral’s Project Pilgrim, largely funded with Lottery money, includes work to create a new entrance and welcome area, the conservation of the 15th Century Lady Chapel and its stained glass and creating a new Cathedral Green in the centre of the city.

 

Andrea Williams welcomes the attempts to attract more people to the cathedral. But she believes the money to pay for the work should have been raised without involving the National Lottery.

Text: Luke 17:12-19 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God” (Luke 17:15).

MESSAGE:

An African adage says, if you express profound gratitude for a favour received, there is a certainty that you would take home more blessing. In other words, if prudently handled, one blessing could pave way for more favours.

From the Scripture reading, a leper who had a life-transforming meeting with our Lord Jesus Christ perfectly understood this principle of acknowledging a good deed in order to get more. Rejected by society, he and nine other lepers could not get help and acceptance elsewhere but in Jesus. There was neither Elisha nor Moses around to heal them. But Jesus, who is greater than both Moses and Elisha, was available.

Although Jesus asked them to show themselves to the priests to fulfil the Mosaic demand in Leviticus 13:2-6, the Lord was saying in effect that He was the final Priest the lepers had approached for a cure. That was demonstrated beyond doubt when “as they went, they were cleansed” (verse 14).

The central focus of the passage is the returning leper who gave thanks and worshipped the Lord after he had been healed. The others stayed away, content with only one stage of healing. But the grateful leper received four more blessings the other ingrates missed. First, he saw Jesus at close quarters unlike the first time when he “stood afar off” (verse 12). Second, he had the unspeakable joy of worshipping the King of kings and Lord of lords (verse 16). Third, he got commendation from Jesus (verse 18). Finally, the appreciative leper received salutary healing of a unique type.
