Peers accuse UK of a ‘serious betrayal’ over Asia Bibi

Writing in The Times on Friday, signatories including Lord Alton of Liverpool (pictured below) referred to claims the Government decided not to grant Asia Bibi asylum over fears of reprisals from hard-line Islamists.

They said: “We are deeply concerned by reports that Theresa May is refusing asylum to Asia Bibi, who remains in mortal danger in Pakistan.”

Asked by a fellow Conservative MP to “put the record straight” regarding the claims, the Prime Minister told Zac Goldsmith on Wednesday he “shouldn’t necessarily believe everything he reads in the newspapers”.

But Lord Alton, along with Baroness Cox (pictured at end of article) and Lord Forsyth of Drumlean warned ministers against “capitulating to the threats of lynch mobs”.

They continued: “Britain’s position indicates a serious betrayal of our time-honoured commitment to offer asylum to those in need.

“It also undermines our belief in justice, human rights, the rule of law and religious freedom, and risks us falling foul of, and succumbing to, blackmail”.

Ms Bibi and her family became the subjects of death threats following a decision by Supreme Court in Islamabad to acquit her of blasphemy last month.

Five Common Ways Pastors Overcome Sermon Blocks – Rainer on Leadership #489

Podcast Episode #489

Sunday comes every week for a pastor. And that means a sermon needed nearly every week. Today, we discuss how to combat sermon block if and when that happens.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • The more you can plan ahead with sermon prep, the less likely you are to fight sermon block the week of the sermon.
  • Both church members and staff can be sources for sermon pointers.
  • Pastors, if you plagiarize your sermons, people will notice.
  • Being prepared (mentally and spiritually) and starting early are two main keys to beating sermon block.

The five methods we cover to combat sermon block are:

  1. Preach through books of the Bible
  2. Take sermon preparation retreats
  3. Brainstorm with staff and church members
  4. Listen to other preachers’ podcasts (BUT DON’T PLAGIARIZE!)
  5. Start early in the week

Shiloh 2018 “Dominion” by David Oyedepo – Dates, Live Broadcast

Winners’ Chapel Shiloh 2018 “Dominion” by David Oyedepo – Dates, Live Broadcast

“And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.” – Daniel 7:27

Click HERE to Watch Shiloh 2018 LIVE

Man was created for dominion at the beginning (Genesis 1:28). But our dominion was lost to sin through the first Adam, while Christ restored the same back to us through redemption (Ephesians 2:5-6, Ephesians 1:20-21).

Today, the Holy Ghost empowers believers to walk in dominion (Luke 10:19).

We are in the last days, we are in the days of full restoration of dominion to the redeemed of the Lord (Micah 4:1-2, Isaiah 2:1-3).

We are in the era of dominion of the Church of Christ in these last days, when the Kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the Saints of God (Psalm 110:1-3, Daniel 1:25-27).

We are in the last days, when the law shall be proceeding from Zion (Isaiah 2:1-3, Psalm 87:1-7).

We are in the last days, when all the springs of life shall be domiciled in the Church (Psalm 87:1-7).

Remember, the Church is not a building, the Church is a people, the Redeemed of the Lord (Acts 1:38).

The Church is the Body of Christ, the fullness of Him that fills all things (Ephesians 1:20-23).

We understand that by redemption, we have been repositioned far above all principalities and powers (Ephesians 2:4-6, Ephesians 1:20-21).

But as we all know, authority can only be conferred, it cannot be achieved (Matthew 21:23, Luke 9:11, Matthew 8:8-10, 13). We also recognize that the Spirit of Faith is the guarantee for the dominion of the Saints over all gang ups of hell (Hebrews 11:33-34, Ephesians 6:16)

We should all be reminded that:

  1. Shiloh is not a church anniversary, but a place for taking delivery of all our hanging inheritance in Christ (Joshua 18:3);
  2. Shiloh is not a Church Programme, but a Mountain of answered prayers after the order of Hannah (I Samuel 1:13-19);
  3. Shiloh is ordained a platform for the rise of giants among us (Joshua 18:1, Psalm 87:5-7);
  4. Shiloh is a mountain of vision and revelation (Psalm 16:11);
  5. Shiloh is a prophetic platform for the conferment of dominion both on us as a Church and as individuals, so as to subdue the land before us (Joshua 18:1).
    … and many more.

Therefore, the theme of Shiloh 2018 is:

Dominion: Daniel 7:27

Furthermore, as we all know, prophetically, Shiloh is ordained a platform for conferment of dominion upon members of the Winners’ family. As it is written,

“And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.” – Joshua 18:1-3

The last phrase of this scripture above, “And the land was subdued before them” connotes dominion. Therefore, at this 20th Shiloh, every participant shall encounter conferment of dominion in all areas of our lives (Genesis 21:1-3).

Every participant at Shiloh 2018, shall have definite encounter with the Word for their supernatural change of story (1 Samuel 3:21).

Jesus is Lord!

Having A Healthy Relationship With In-Laws (Part 4) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Having A Healthy Relationship With In-Laws (Part 4) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Having A Healthy Relationship With In-Laws (Part 4)

Dear Reader,

It is with great joy that I welcome you to the last edition in our teaching for this month. I know you have been following this series and as you take practical steps to obey God’s Word, your home shall not remain the same in Jesus’ precious name.

I have taught on how you can order your priorities right, the vital keys of acceptance, love and hospitality in relating with your in-laws and also the place of forgiveness. Today I shall teach on the place of wisdom in relating with in-laws.

What is wisdom?

Wisdom is knowing what to do from Scriptures and doing it. It is the correct application of knowledge. The Word of God says: Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches (Proverbs 24:3-4). Wisdom is laying hold and trading with the Word of God. A wise man is one who knows from God’s Word which way to go and how to handle situations to produce the desired result.

Also Read: Clear Principles for a Blissful Marriage (Part 2) By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

To successfully relate with your in-laws, you need the wisdom of God. Wisdom is a builder of homes. It is in fact the master builder’s trade secret. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon (1 Corinthians 3:10).

1. Wisdom Protects

The Bible says that wisdom protects (proverbs 4:6). When you are guided by Scriptures in every aspect of your life, you are walking in wisdom. This frustrates the devil, because he knows that your home is, by wisdom, founded upon a rock that no wind or storm can uproot. The Word of God states: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and It fell: and great was the fall of it (Mathew 7:24-27)

The truth about wisdom is that it is not a respecter of persons or age. Everything in life that ought to be done well, must be done with wisdom. The Bible refers to it as the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7). Wisdom is needed in taking decisions, relating with your in-laws, loving, talking, listening, asking, working, sharing, caring and in performing so many other family interactions, activities and obligations. When wisdom is in place, little things that cause tension in the family are easily handled. Lack of wisdom brings about confusion and frustration in a family.

2. Wisdom Brings Peace

The benefits of wisdom are immeasurable. Operating in wisdom with your family including your relationship with your in-laws will bring you happiness, liveliness, wealth, long life, honour, peace, pleasure, grace, safety and all round promotion. The Bible says: Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding (Proverbs 3:13). The Bible also states: wisdom makes the face of a man to shine (Ecclesiastes 8:1). A shinning face represents contentment and peace. What keeps the face shinning, is the wisdom applied in the family.

The source of true lasting wisdom that makes you relate very well with other members of your family, including in-laws, is founded in the Word of God. Wisdom is in locating the right Word concerning the family and doing it. It teaches how to say what must be said, when it should be said and in the way it should be said. It will help you relate with every member of your family accordingly.

There are many things we pray for, that may never come to us, unless our family is in order. So, you can see why it looks like that promotion, breakthrough and healing that you have prayed for are delayed. I see you receive quick answers to your prayers as you begin to operate the wisdom of God in your family from now on in Jesus name.

It is not enough to read the Word, hear it, know it, and go to Church or even pray it. Applying it is what makes it produce for you. The scripture says: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22). Before you quarrel with your spouse or in- laws over any issue, count the cost of your actions and reactions – this is wisdom. Learn to adapt. When decisions that are different from your plans are taken, see how you can work them out to fit in.

To get wisdom, you need to accept the giver of wisdom. You want to be born again please pray this prayer with faith in your heart. Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ Name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through [email protected], 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

TREM Devotional 30 November 2018 – Don’t Let Your Mind Get In The Way

Topic: Don’t Let Your Mind Get In The Way [TREM Devotional 30 November 2018]

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 KJV

Many times, divine instructions don’t make sense. Consequently, many of us have missed out on God’s purpose for us because every time we let our minds get in the way. We want to understand everything before we take a step and God doesn’t function that way. You can’t understand everything. If you understand everything, then you don’t need Him. God wants you to lean on Him every step of the way.

How can a poor widow woman feed the man of God, when all she had was just for her and her son? She didn’t understand it but she obeyed and she experienced the supernatural. My prayer is that you don’t let your mind get in the way because you must tap into the abundance that God has for you.

I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that there is a brother somewhere, there is a sister somewhere; there is somebody somewhere in another part of the world that God is going to link you up with. You are going to be a channel of the flow of His abundance. You will just sit in your house and people will ask you how did it happen and you will say I can’t explain. If there is a time to obey God, this is the time.

The widow woman in 1 Kings 17 was making plans to die and not to live at all. “I am gathering two sticks”(v.12 KJV) to cook the last little meal. She had a scarcity mentality not an abundance mentality. Famine had so much affected her mind set that she did not think of the bigness of our God. My prayer is that God will blow your mind out of small mentality. You are bigger than you think! Your body is limiting you. I don’t care whether you are short, tall or big. You are bigger than your physical frame. Eternity is inside you.

DCLM Daily Manna 30 November 2018 – God Still Answers Prayers

Topic: God Still Answers Prayers [DCLM Daily Manna 30 November 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Genesis 25:12-26 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived (Genesis 25:21).

MESSAGE:

In his book “Shaping History Through Prayer And Fasting”, Derek Prince tells how his prayer and fasting changed the course of war in favour of the Allied Forces during the Second World War. He also told how he and his Jewish wife stood in for Israel in 1948 when the Syrians wanted to overrun them as they returned home to become a sovereign nation once again.

In our text, we see the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son from Hagar and his twelve princes, as God had promised Abraham. Also, we see Isaac intercede for his wife who had been barren for years and God’s answer by giving them twin children struggling in their mother’s womb.

God did not promise His children a trouble-free life, but assures of His help in times of need.

Saints in Bible days like Abraham, Samuel, David, Jehoshaphat, Elijah, Daniel, Hannah, Esther and so on had become conquerors through fervent and consistent prayer. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, prayed exceedingly during His earthly ministry and taught His followers “that men ought always to pray and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). George Muller who established an orphanage in Bristol that catered for young people “determined that the children will be provided with everything they needed by prayer and faith without making an appeal to anyone for money but God”. The number of the children grew to over 2,000 at a point, and he took care of them without any standing income as he depended only on God in prayer.

As the end gets nearer, there is no better time to pray than now. Pray without ceasing.

Thought For The Day: Unceasing prayer connects the believer to the invincible power of God.

2,000-Year-Old Ring Thought to Have Belonged to Pontius Pilate – Urban Christian News

An intriguing 2,000-year-old copper alloy ring bearing the inscription “of Pilatus” may be only the second artifact testifying to the historicity of the infamous Pontius Pilate. Unearthed 50 years ago, the ring was overlooked until recently, when it got a good scrub, and a second look.

Pilate, a Roman prefect who ruled the Roman province of Judaea from circa 26–36 CE, is mentioned in several accounts in the New Testament, as having ordered the trial and crucifixion of Yeshua, a Second Temple-period radical preacher from the Galilee, more commonly known as Jesus.

The ring was first found among hundreds of other artifacts in 1968–1969 excavations directed by archaeologist Gideon Foerster, at a section of Herod’s burial tomb and palace at Herodium that was used during the First Jewish Revolt (66–73 CE). Recently, current dig director Roi Porat asked that the engraved copper sealing ring be given a thorough laboratory cleaning and scholarly examination.

The scientific analysis of the ring was published in the stalwart biannual Israel Exploration Journal last week, by the 104-year-old Israel Exploration Society. It was also popularly publicized — with slightly differing conclusions — on Thursday in Haaretz, under the headline “Ring of Roman Governor Pontius Pilate Who Crucified Jesus Found in Herodion Site in West Bank.”

Pilate presents Jesus, as depicted in Ecce Home (Behold the man) by Antonio Ciseri, 1871. (Wikipedia)

Archaeologist Porat told The Times of Israel on Thursday that to him, all explanations are equally possible for who was the historical owner…

MFM Daily Devotional 30 November 2018 – The Backbone of God’s Promises

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 30 November 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – The Backbone of God’s Promises

TOPIC: The Backbone of God’s Promises (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 30 November 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 50:24-25

MEMORY VERSE: “And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.” Exodus 13:19

The MESSAGE:

Good promised to visit the children of Israel in their bondage in the land of Egypt. He gave the promise to Joseph in Genesis 50:24-25. In Exodus 13:19, the promise was fulfilled and Moses took along the remains (bones) of Joseph in keeping Joseph’s death wish. In Joshua 24:32, Joseph’s bones were buried at Shechem in the land Jacob bought, and it became an inheritance to his descendants. Joseph had made his children promise that when God releases them from the slavery in Egypt into the Promised Land, they would take his remains (bones) with them. It is important to note here that despite all odds in form of wandering, afflictions, deaths, murmurings and disobedience in the wilderness even the battles lost and won, the bones of Joseph kept moving with them. I want to believe that Joshua’s and Caleb’s faith was very strong because of their knowledge that no matter what, the bones (remains) of Joseph must get to the Promised Land.

The bones of a great prophet kept their faith alive throughout the journey.

Beloved, to every promise of God to man, there is always a “bone” to back it up. When the backbone is neglected or discarded, the promises may not be able to stand or see the light of the day. Those who understood the importance of the prophetic bones and knew that the bones must get to the Promised Land did not mind the giants, the hunger and the thirst. God speaks His promises to us in many ways: through His word, dreams, vision, prophesy, gifts of Holy Ghost, etc. These promises have to do with our needs, such as in marriage, wealth and finance, education, health, salvation, success, breakthrough, fruit of the womb, good jobs, etc. These are our Promised Lands as spiritual Israelites.

To get there, however, and for these to manifest physically in our lives, there are prophetic bones or spiritual backbones we must carry along. When they are neglected, there will not be manifestations, but when they are acknowledged and carried along, there must be results. Some of the spiritual backbones are: bones of witnessing, bones of covenants, bones of perseverance, bones of hope, bones of faith, bones of confidence, bones of obedience, bones of service, bones of the word of God, bones of agonising prayers, etc. You have a role to play; you need to carry the bones along. Between the Promised Land and the manifestation is the bones carriage. They will go with you to the Promised Land and end their jobs there. Are you expecting manifestation of a promise? You need to carry the bones. “And he shall serve the Lord your God and he shall bless thy bread…” We need the bones of service so as to be blessed.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
WHEN A CHRISTIAN SHUNS FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS, THE DEVIL SMILES; WHEN HE STOPS READING THE BIBLE, THE DEVIL LAUGHS AND WHEN HE STOPS PRAYING, THE DEVIL SHOUTS FOR JOY.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Your backbone of prayers shall not be paralysed and your paralysed spiritual backbones shall come alive.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. I deprogramme and cancel all witchcraft prophecies, by the power in the blood of Jesus.
2. Anointing that made Joseph succeed in a strange land, come upon my life now, in the name of Jesus.
3. Every power delaying God’s promises for my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Promises of God concerning my life, be catalysed into manifestation, in the name of Jesus.
5. Backbones of God’s promises for my life, receive divine strength and come alive, in the name of Jesus.
6. All promises of God for my life that my destiny is waiting for, manifest by fire, in the name of Jesus.
7. Anything I have lost due to my lack of faith, be restored by fire, in the name of Jesus.

Seeds of Destiny 30 November 2018 Devotional – Discovering Purpose and Fulfilling Destiny

Topic: Discovering Purpose and Fulfilling Destiny [Seeds of Destiny 30 November 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.2 Timothy 4:6-8

Thought For The Day: Your endowment reveals your assignment.

One of the best things that can happen to a person is coming to a point where he is sure he is not wasting his life on earth. It is realising, at the last minute of your life on earth like Paul the Apostle did, that you have fought a good fight and finished your course; that you have kept the faith and ready to be offered; that a crown of righteousness is waiting for you.

Now, arriving at this point becomes impossible when purpose is not known. So, it is critical to find out how to discover purpose. How is purpose discovered?
1. Through Divine encounter or revelation
This is having an encounter with God and He reveals your purpose to you like He revealed to Moses.

2. The passion of heart
Your purpose is anchored on your passion. The problem that bothers you is a clue to the solution you are to offer.

3. Affection
What you love doing naturally that gives you joy is a clue to your assignment on earth.

4. Potential
Your endowment reveals your assignment. Fishes were created to live inside water so God had to equip their system with survival mechanism (Gill system, fin, etc.) in the water.

5. Dreams and visions
That which comes to your mind persistently is a clue to your purpose.

Beloved, do you want to fulfil your destiny? Discover your purpose, live it out and trust God for the grace to empty all He has invested in you for His own glory.

Remember this: Your endowment reveals your assignment.

Assignments:
1. If you have not yet discovered your purpose, meditate on the above-mentioned points in our study today and apply them in your life.
2. Move with a sense of urgency on the matter of destiny fulfilment; remember, we do not have eternity to fulfil destiny.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: DISCOVERING PURPOSE AND FULFILLING DESTINY

Prayer: Lord, I trust You for direction in my life’s journey. Help me to do all You expect of me before leaving this world, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Our Daily Bread 30 November 2018 Devotional – Honoring God with Thanks

Topic: Honoring God with Thanks [Our Daily Bread 30 November 2018 Devotional]

Read: Psalm 50:8–15, Bible in a Year: Ezekiel 37–39; 2 Peter 2

Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15

The doctor wasn’t frowning, despite talking to my husband about his recent cancer diagnosis. Smiling, she offered a suggestion: start each day by giving thanks. “For at least three things,” the doctor said. Dan agreed, knowing that gratitude opens our hearts to find encouragement in God’s goodness. Thus, Dan starts each day with words of praise. Thank You, God, for a good night’s sleep. For my clean bed. For sunshine. For breakfast on the table. For a smile on my lips.

Each word is heartfelt. But could it sound trivial? Does our praise in life’s small details matter to Almighty God? In Psalm 50, David’s chief musician, Asaph, offers a clear answer. God has “no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens” (v. 9). Instead of these once-formal Israelite sacrifices of gratitude, God wants His people to give Him our hearts and lives in gratitude (vv. 14, 23).

As my husband experienced, whole-hearted gratitude helps our spirits flourish. Then when we call on the Lord “in the day of trouble,” He will “deliver” us (v. 15). Does this mean Dan will be healed, spiritually and physically, during his two-year treatment? Or not until after this lifetime? We don’t know. But for now, Dan delights in showing God he’s grateful for His love, and for who God is: Redeemer. Healer. Friend. And friends delight to hear these beautiful words: Thank You.

What verses bring you comfort in trials? Share at Facebook.com/ourdailybread.

My gratitude to God is great to Him.

INSIGHT:
The legal language and setting in Psalm 50 are hard to miss. A universal summons is issued by God (v. 1) and the purpose of the gathering is clear—the judgment of His people (v. 4). In a manner reminiscent of the giving of the Law (Exodus 19:16–19), the Lord makes His grand entry (Psalm 50:2–3) as the righteous and just judge (v. 6). However, “judge” is not His only role; He is also witness (v. 7) and plaintiff (v. 8). Two groups of defendants enter the Lord’s courtroom and the Judge has indictments that match the transgressions of each group. The Lord’s charges against the first group (vv. 7–15) concerned their worship. Though a formal worship system was in place, the kind of worship the Lord desired was missing. Spiritual worship that included “thanksgiving” mattered to the Lord more than the flesh and blood of animals. The charges against the second group (vv. 16–23) concerned their hypocrisy. Though they were able to recite words that came from God, their actions demonstrated their hearts were far from Him (vv. 17–21). As with the first group, the Lord’s corrective included the reminder that “thank offerings” really matter to Him (v. 23).
