Calls to unseat Church of England rejected by Government

One Tory frontbencher told the House of Lords on Wednesday there were no plans to “destabilise” the historical relationship.

Lord Young of Cookham (pictured above) said: “Who we are as a country is defined by our church and our state and the relationship that has been developing over 400 years between them.

“The Government value that relationship; we think it adds value to both sides and is welcomed by the country. We have no plans to destabilise that relationship.”

The peer was responding to a question from Labour’s Lord Berkeley (pictured below) who suggested Prince Charles ought to embrace a secular state when he becomes king.

He asked: “Is it not time for the new monarch, when he comes, to embrace this secular state and perhaps swear an oath to Parliament?”

The Queen swore an oath to the Church during her 1953 coronation. The monarch has been head of the Church of England since it was founded by Henry VIII in the 16th century.

Lord Berkeley pointed to figures from the National Secular Society which show the proportion of Britons identifying as Church of England has fallen from 31 per cent to 14 per cent since 2002.

As the official church, 26 senior Church of England bishops – including the archbishops of Canterbury and York – sit in the House of Lords. They are collectively known as the Lords Spiritual.

Joyce Meyer Devotional 29 November 2018 — Avoid the Slingers

Topic: Avoid the Slingers [Joyce Meyer Devotional 29 November 2018]

There were people in the Bible called “slingers” who defeated their enemies by slinging stones and throwing dirt into their wells, contaminating their life source of water (see 2 Kings 3:25).

We all know people who sling accusation, judgment, criticism, and faultfinding at others. We certainly don’t want slingers in our life, and we don’t want to become slingers either.

Don’t be a slinger who contaminates your own faith or the faith of those around you. Spending time with God will fill you with “living water” (see John 7:38). You will be edified and become a source of encouragement for others all day long.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I know it’s only through spending time with You that I can become a source of encouragement and blessing to others. Help me to protect this time and seek You diligently. Help me to become someone who is full of faith and who strengthens the faith of others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TREM Devotional 29 November 2018 – God Is Committed To You

Topic: God Is Committed To You [TREM Devotional 29 November 2018]

“And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.” 1 Kings 17:8, 9 KJV

Beloved, if your hope is only dependent on natural hope, you will faint. So you must switch on to supernatural hope. It is an earnest expectation! You wake up every morning expecting that something great will take place in your life. That is why we confess that every day we are getting better physically, spiritually, materially and financially. In every area of our lives, everything is getting better. It can never be worse. But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. (Proverbs 4:18 KJV) You can’t remain the same way. So you must look out for the best and celebrate your day as a gift from God.

This is why the Psalmist says: “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it” I am not going to mourn. I am not going to weep. I will rejoice because I am around. Don’t make plans to die. If you don’t know what to do, buy bread put butter and eat it. Don’t just sit down and behave as if your life has ended. Make your life exciting. Serving God is exciting. God had to dry the brook not because He wanted Elijah to suffer but because He didn’t want the faithful woman in Zarephath to perish in the recession.

Many of you don’t even know how committed God is to you. If you sit back and understand how committed God is to you as a person, you will not be reducing yourself. He is committed to you! That is why He sent His son Jesus to die on your behalf. And the scriptures say, if need be, God will give men for your sake. He will do whatever it takes to ensure that you don’t go down.

Open Heavens for Teens 29 November 2018 – Healing Through Obedience

Topic: Healing Through Obedience [Open Heavens for Teens 29 November 2018]

Memorise: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shall glorify me. Psalm 50:15

Read: 2 Kings 5:9-14 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 41-42, 2 Peter 1

MESSAGE:

From the story of the 10 lepers recorded in Luke 17:11-19, we learn that they did not allow Jesus to enter their village before they cried to Him for help. It is said that opportunity one lost may never be regained. The reason many are where they are today is because they failed to pray when they should have. If you fail to call for help, help will not come.

When the lepers cried to the Lord, He told them what to do. As they obeyed, they saw that they were healed. This shows that there is healing in obedience. Each time you act on God’s instruction, you receive a measure of healing capable of affecting a specific area of your life. Obedience brings healing, that will then mean that disobedience brings sickness. Are you sick in your body? Is your academic performance sick? Find out if there is any area of your life where your obedience is incomplete and immediately take corrective actions.

Key Point: Respond to God’s call to obedience and you will be healed of every sickness in your body.

Hymn 2:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

DCLM Daily Manna 29 November 2018 – Valley Of Vision

Topic: Valley Of Vision [DCLM Daily Manna 29 November 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Isaiah 22:1-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops? (Isaiah 22:1).

MESSAGE:

Could you remember the first time you posed for a colour photograph? How did you look in the picture? Good! We have pleasure to introduce to you the man who made that possible; a man whose research efforts successfully produced the first colour photograph in 1861. We are talking about James Clerk Maxwell, who believed that “God had endowed human beings with the power to investigate His handiworks and to harness the power of this created world”.

Prophet Isaiah was given a vision concerning Jerusalem. He saw Jerusalem in anguish and pain. She was full of stirs and a tumult in spite of being a joyous city. Her slain men were not killed with sword or dead in battle but with famine. All the rulers who fled were overtaken and bound by archers. It is punishment for sins. Judah was warned but would not repent.

Vision is the picture you have in your mind or heart that makes you look beyond yourself, ability, environment and your present state. Vision is crucial in life. There are different kinds of vision: Satan-inspired, self-generated, society-imposed and Spirit-inspired.

If the Lord painted on your mind a picture of what He wants you to be or to do, then run with it. But you need to understand that you cannot do it alone. Therefore you will need virtue. Vision without virtue is destructive. As a believer, you should have the vision to leave the world a better place morally than you met it; the vision to improve the lot of people around you. For born again Christians, the right kind of vision is to reach out for the unsaved and backslidden with the gospel.

Thought For The Day: Where there is no vision, the people perish.

MFM Daily Devotional 29 November 2018 – Dealing With the Ghost of the Past

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 29 November 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – Dealing With the Ghost of the Past

TOPIC: Dealing With the Ghost of the Past (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 29 November 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 4:3-6

MEMORY VERSE: “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.Galatians 6:8

The MESSAGE:

Human life exists in three phases: the past, the present and the future. Most times, the past affects the present and perhaps, the future. There is a past life, and there is a present life. Our Memory Verse and Fire Scripture talk about our past actions as they relate to the present. For the farmer, there is time to sow (past) and time to reap (present). Job 4:8 and proverbs 22:8 confirm that it is what you sow in the past that you reap in the present. That is, the past determines the present. It also holds true that it is what you sow in the present that you will reap in the future. The important lesson is that every one of us is a spiritual farmer.

There is a power that specialises in linking the past to the present or the power that investigates the past life of people in order to limit the present and the future. The power is simply called the “ghost of the past”.

There are four categories of spiritual farmers:
(i) Those who sowed good spiritual seeds. E.g Abraham
(ii) Those who sowed bad spiritual seeds and later asked for forgiveness and God forgave. E.g David
(iii) Those who sowed bad seeds and were never forgiven. E.g King Saul
(iv) Those who sowed bad seeds. They were forgiven but refused to forgive themselves. E.g Cain before he killed his brother.

The last two categories can be victims of the spirit of the ghost of the past. Their past activities do attract the attention of the ghost of the past. King Saul was asked to kill Agag, but he disobeyed God. Later Saul’s generation gave birth to Jair and Jair to Modecai, in the third generation. It also happened from king Agag’s generation to Hammedatha and later Hamman. As a result of the disobedience of Saul, when the third generation of Agag and the third generation of Saul (that is, Hamman and Modecai) met, there was war. The ghost of the past was in operation. Hamman hated Modecai with perfect hatred, and he plotted to wipe away the Jews. But, thank God for His divine intervention. Today, the ease with which we use other people’s children as “sales” girls, young ladies busy sleeping with married men, destroying people because you want to get to the top, cheating other people, stealing people’s properties, engaging in examination malpractices etc, are activities that could lead to bondage in the future. May be somebody is bitter with you now; think of your activities in the past. If guilty, ask for forgiveness and make efforts to restitute. Then, you will receive the power to deal with the ghost of the past assigned to hunt your present life and future.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
THE QUALITY OF YOUR LIFE TODAY IS THE PRODUCT OF YOUR PAST.

PROPHETIC WORD:
No matter how ugly your past was, the blood of Jesus in an abundant measure shall flow over it and purify it and you shall be delivered.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Every evil seed, sown by my ancestors that is now affecting my life, be roasted by fire, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every ghost of the past that is hunting me to torment my life, the Lord has forgiven me, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. Anything I did in the past that will make satan harvest my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. I cancel the effect of every evil done against my life that is now affecting me, in the name of Jesus.
5. Every dead situation in my life as a result of my past life, receive the life of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
6. Powers assigned to use my past to destroy my present and my future, die, in the name of Jesus.
7. My Father, restore my life to Your will, in the name of Jesus.

Seeds of Destiny 29 November 2018 Devotional – The X-Ray of Destiny Fulfilment

Topic: The X-Ray of Destiny Fulfilment [Seeds of Destiny 29 November 2018 Devotional]

Scripture: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Thought For The Day: Everyone was born loaded, no one was born empty; your assignment is to die empty.

Yesterday, it was established that the discovery of purpose and living in purpose equals the fulfilment of destiny. When you discover your purpose for living and walk in that purpose, then you can fulfil your destiny.

Today, we are going to x-ray what it means to fulfil destiny and subsequently we will look at discovering purpose:
1. Destiny fulfilment means giving full expression to your potential
This is offering your world what has been loaded into you by God. The truth is, everyone was born loaded, no one was born empty; your assignment is to die empty. That is, by the time you are dying, you should have offloaded all your potentials.

2. Destiny fulfilment means living your making instead of making a living. Living your making means living out what God made you for. There are people who try to make a living but that’s just survival. Also, there are those who live their making; these are those who make impact. If God made you to be a worshipper like David, a dream interpreter like Joseph, live it out.

3. Fulfilling your destiny means giving pleasure to your Maker
It is giving pleasure to your creator with your existence by satisfying and justifying the reason for your creation.

Beloved, make up your mind to discover and fulfil God’s purpose for your life.

Remember this: Everyone was born loaded, no one was born empty; your assignment is to die empty.

Assignments:
1. Answer these questions within you and make amends where necessary: Is your life giving pleasure to God? How many lives are you impacting with your potentials? Are you a plus or a minus to God’s Kingdom?
2. Make an eternal impact in the lives of people daily; preach to at least a soul daily.

Kenneth Copeland Devotional 29 November 2018 – Don’t Buy a Lie

Topic: Don’t Buy a Lie [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 29 November 2018]

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. – Deuteronomy 28:2

“Well, brother, in the end I’m sure you’ll see these financial problems are actually a blessing in disguise.” Have you ever heard anybody say that to someone who’s hurting financially? Chances are, you have. It’s a popular idea. The problem is, it’s a lie used by the devil to keep believers down.

As a result, many believers today are suffering one financial defeat after another. So let’s go to the Word of God today and get the issue of prosperity and poverty straight. Let’s find out, once and for all, which is the blessing, which the curse.

You can find the answer to that question in Deuteronomy 28. What God describes in verses 1 through 14 is the blessing—prosperity. In verses 15 through 31, God describes poverty—and He has called it a curse.

The curse is meant to destroy. Not to teach people a lesson. Not to make them more spiritual. But to destroy them.

Regardless of how intense the lack is, the nature of poverty remains the same. It is, and will always be, a curse.

Satan has gone to great lengths to convince God’s people that poverty is a blessing in disguise. But poverty is something the devil contrived!

Don’t buy into his lies. Get your thinking in line with the Word of God. If you’re a born-again child of God, you no longer have to live under the curse of poverty or any other curse for that matter. You’ve been redeemed!

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 28:1-31

Billy Graham Devotional 29 November 2018 – Satan at Work

Topic: Satan at Work [Billy Graham Devotional 29 November 2018]

In whom we have redemption . . . the forgiveness of sins. — Ephesians 1:7

Satan is at work in our world. The Bible is my authority. He exists and he has control over thousands of young people, whose hearts have never been captured by Jesus Christ. He has hundreds of agents writing pornographic literature and producing sex movies to pollute young minds. He has intellectuals in high positions teaching a hedonistic and permissive philosophy.

Daily I come in contact with mixed-up people who are caught in the anguish of their own unpreparedness, intellectuals who have been seduced by false science, and rich men who are held in the grip of insecurity. They have no commitment to any goal. They lack an anchor for their real selves. And I long to take every one of them by the hand and lead them into the presence of the One who said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Prayer for the day: So many are without You, Lord! Use me to lead others from a destructive course to the one which will give them the satisfaction that only You can give.

Andrew Wommack Devotional 29 November 2018: Jesus – The Name Above Names

Topic: Jesus – The Name Above Names [Andrew Wommack Devotional 29 November 2018]

Luke 23:9 “Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.”

Not only does Jesus’ refusal to defend Himself show His humility, but His refraining from venting His wrath against the man who senselessly killed His friend who was the greatest of the Old Testament prophets (Mt. 11:11), also displays His humble nature.

Because of Christ’s humility and obedience to the Father, God gave Him a name that is above every name in heaven, earth and under the earth. There is no exemption for anyone or anything from coming under the Lordship of Jesus. He is Lord of ALL.

Jesus has not only been exalted above every “being” that has a name, but He is also highly exalted above anything else that can be named. If you can put a name on it, Jesus is above it. Sickness, poverty, depression, anger – everything has to bow its knee to the Lordship of Jesus.

Every knee of men, angels, and demons will bow and confess that Jesus is Lord. Those who have denied His existence will bow in worship. Those who have spent their lives rebelling His authority will finally bow in submission.

Every being from all ages will ultimately bow and worship Jesus. If we bow our knee to His Lordship now, we will enjoy a wonderful life here on earth, and an eternity in His blessings hereafter. Those who deny His rightful claim to the Lordship of their lives will suffer for it in this life as well as in the next. They still will have to bow their knee to His authority, so there is nothing to gain and everything to lose if they refuse to make Jesus Lord of their life.
