Kenneth Copeland Devotional 27 November 2018 – Occupy Till Jesus Comes

Topic: Occupy Till Jesus Comes [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 27 November 2018]

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. – Ephesians 6:13-17

The Bible teaches that as believers, you and I are to occupy until Jesus comes. Occupy is a military term meaning to hold possession, or control, of conquered troops and territory. If we’re to do that effectively, most of us are going to have to change our attitudes. We’re going to have to recognize that Jesus has already won the victory.

That’s right. Satan is already defeated. He was whipped at Calvary. We’re not on the defensive—he is!

What’s more, Jesus has given you His very own armor and sword to use to keep that defeated devil in line. You may be a 90-pound weakling on your own, but if you’ll put on God’s armor, the devil will never know it. He’ll run from you just like you were Jesus.

Think about it. What would you do if you were the devil and you came face to face with some fellow wearing God’s armor and God’s helmet with God’s weapons in each hand? As long as that fellow only spoke God’s words, you would think that must be God inside there!

Don’t neglect any of the armor you’ve been given. Wear it all. Keep the devil on the defensive—and occupy till Jesus comes!

Scripture Reading: Luke 12:35-44

Billy Graham Devotional 27 November 2018 – Realities of Life

Topic: Realities of Life [Billy Graham Devotional 27 November 2018 ]

Casting down imaginations . . . and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Thousands of people have made plans to escape from the realities of life. A new word has come into common usage the last few years. That word is “escapism.” The dictionary defines it as “a retreat from reality into an imaginary world.” The escape of imagination. Solomon spoke of the unregenerate heart as one which is inclined to excessive fantasy. The dream world Satan promotes always ends with disillusionment. Thousands of people live in an unreal dream world, while shirking their responsibilities toward their families and toward God. The Bible teaches that with Christ in your heart, you can face the realities of life. Even though they are hard, the grace of God will give you greater joy and pleasure than any dream world to which you try to escape.

Prayer for the day: Lord, so often my thoughts make a wasteland of what You are wanting to plant there. This day let every one of them be captive to Your leading.

Andrew Wommack Devotional 27 November 2018 – The Sword Is The Word

Topic: The Sword Is The Word [Andrew Wommack Devotional 27 November 2018]

John 18:36 “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”

Text: John 18:33-37

Christ’s kingdom is spiritual, in the hearts of men – not physical; therefore, our fight as Christians must not be with carnal weapons but with spiritual weapons (2 Cor. 10:3-5). Spiritual forces cannot be defeated with human weapons.

When we are being attacked for being a part of Christ’s kingdom, we must fight with spiritual weapons. Our warfare is not against people, but against the spiritual powers that operate behind the scenes through people. We must realize who the real enemy is and fight with the spiritual weapons the Lord has given us.

We often think that anger will put a person in his place. But “the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God” (Jas. 1:20). Anger displayed against people puts us right into the hand of the devil. The way to overcome the spiritual powers that come against us through people is to turn the other cheek (Mt. 5:39). That makes the demons flee in terror.

One of the main weapons the Apostle Paul speaks of is the Gospel, which is the Sword of the Spirit, (the Word of God). It’s the Word backed by God’s Spirit that can pull down and crush the strongholds of Satan.

Every Christian is at war. There is a perpetual struggle against Satan and his kingdom from which there are no “leaves” or “discharges.” Our enemy goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet. 5:8). Those who resist the devil will see him flee (Jas. 4:7). The only ones whom he devours are those who don’t actively fight against him.

Twitter Bans Labeling Transgender Persons by Wrong Pronoun, Name

Twitter Bans Labeling Transgender Persons by Wrong Pronoun, Name

Twitter changed its terms of services in late November to ban criticism of transgender people, although conservatives say the move squashes debate on the issue.

The new rules prevent Twitter users from calling transgender persons by their birth gender (which is called “misgendering”) or birth name (“deadnaming”).

The rules state: “We prohibit targeting individuals with repeated slurs, tropes or other content that intends to dehumanize, degrade or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes about a protected category. This includes targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender individuals.”

A dead name, according to Refinery29.com, is “The name given to a transgender person at birth, which they often change when they transition.”

Misgendering is “When someone uses the wrong pronoun or term to refer to a person, such as calling a transgender boy ‘her’ or a transgender girl ‘him.,’” according to Refinery29.com.

Users who violate the rules could be banned from Twitter, although initially they may be asked to serve only a “timeout” and not be able to post for a short period of time.

“For example, we may ask someone to remove the violating content and serve a period of time in read-only mode before they can Tweet again,” the Twitter rules read. “Subsequent violations will lead to longer read-only periods and may eventually…

Taiwanese Voters Reject Same-Sex Marriage in Saturday Referendum

Taiwanese Voters Reject Same-Sex Marriage in Saturday Referendum

Voters in Taiwan backed defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman in a referendum held over the weekend.

In 2017, Taiwan’s high court ruled that outlawing same-sex marriage was unconstitutional and gave lawmakers two years to draft legislation. The referendum carries no official weight, but legislators facing reelection will not be eager to go against the will of their constituents.

The referendum contained three questions advocated for by proponents of the traditional definition of marriage which all passed. Questions on the referendum put forth by same-sex marriage advocates failed.

One question asked, “Do you agree that Civil Code regulations should restrict marriage to being between a man and a woman?” A majority of votes answered in the affirmative while rejecting a question that asked if the regulations should “be used to guarantee the rights of same-sex couples to get married.”

Same-sex marriage advocates expressed their disappointment with the results of the referendum, but plan to continue their fight to make Taiwan the first nation in Asia to endorse same-sex marriage. Annie Huang, the acting director for Amnesty International Taiwan called the result “a bitter blow and a step backwards for human rights in Taiwan.” She also called on the government to ignore the results of the referendum and pass legislation as the court…

Rare Wright from First-Temple Period Found in Jerusalem

Rare Wright from First-Temple Period Found in Jerusalem

Archaeologists discovered tiny stone weighing approximately 11 grams and dating back to the period of Solomon’s temple. The stone had been inscribed with the word “beka” in Hebrew.

A volunteer discovered the stone as he sifted through earth and rubble lifted from the foundations of the Western Wall. Eli Shukron, an archaeologist who led the excavations for the Israel Antiquities Authority, told The Times of Israel that similar stones had been discovered, but this was the only one bearing this precise inscription.

Scripture first mentions the weight in Exodus 38:26. It reads, “a beka a head (that is, half a shekel, by the shekel of the sanctuary), for everyone who was listed in the records, from twenty years old and upward, for 603,550 men.” (ESV)

Shukron explained how the weight was used in the temple tax. “When the half-shekel tax was brought to the Temple during the First Temple period, there were no coins, so they used silver ingots. In order to calculate the weight of these silver pieces they would put them on one side of the scales and on the other side they placed the Beka weight. The Beka was equivalent to the half-shekel, which every person from the age of twenty years and up was required to bring to the temple.”

Shukron also explained another feature of the stone that makes it stand out from other discoveries. The person who engraved the stone wrote…

Hindu Extremist Mob Tries to Burn Pastor Alive in Odisha, State, India

Hindu Extremist Mob Tries to Burn Pastor Alive in Odisha, State, India

HYDERABADIndia, November 26, 2018 (Morning Star News) – Pastor John Lakra was taking his 18-month-old baby to the hospital for emergency treatment in Odisha state, India when hundreds of Hindu extremists surrounded his car.

The pastor, his wife and their three children were on the way to the hospital in Sundargarh at about 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 when the mob began hurling stones at them and hitting the windows with rods as they shouted curses at him, he said.

“There were so many people that we could not even try get out there,” Pastor Lakra said. “We could not even see through the windows. My children and wife were crying. I did not know what to do.”

Earlier he had received word that Hindu extremists were looking for him regarding a text message and photo insulting the Hindu goddess Durga that a hacker had sent from his phone. He thought they only meant to talk with him.

“Soon, they pulled me out of the car, slapped and beat me black and blue,” Pastor Lakra told Morning Star News. “They ripped off my clothes. Not a single part of my body was left unstruck.”

After throwing him onto the road and kicking him, they picked him up and forced him onto a motorcycle, he said. With hundreds following, they took him to a Durga idol and forced him to kneel before it even as they continued beating him, he said.

“Then they poured a gallon of petrol on me,”…

Bishop tells churches to stop dipping wafers into wine to combat flu

The Right Rev David Walker also raised concerns that people with gluten allergies can be affected by the tradition.

“We are becoming increasingly aware of the severe reaction some people have to gluten,” Bishop David told The Times.

“As a result churches are now used to providing gluten-free bread in services of Holy Communion. However, what is often overlooked is that dipping wafers in the wine can introduce gluten, which others then drink.”

Many Church of England parishes take part in the practice where the wafer, representing the body of Jesus Christ, is dipped into wine, which represents Christ’s blood.

Many churches have already stopped dipping wafers into wine with others encouraging people concerned about catching or passing on infections to abstain from joining in with communion.

The tradition of asking worshippers to shake hands and “exchange the peace” has also regularly been stopped during outbreaks of flu.

Bishop David added: “It is already advised nationally that, for reasons of hygiene, the intinction of wafers should be avoided.

“When a wafer is given into the hands of a communicant it may become contaminated by germs lying on the skin. Intincting the wafer then introduces those germs directly into the wine.

“There is also the possibility of finger tips inadvertently dipping into the liquid.”

Stay up to…

Trump Administration Tries to Fast-Track the Reversal of Obama Transgender Military Policy

Trump Administration Tries to Fast-Track the Reversal of Obama Transgender Military Policy

The Trump administration is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to bypass lower courts and take up a case involving the military’s proposed ban on most transgender military members.

The military’s proposed policy would prohibit service by those “who require or have undergone gender transition,” according to NPR.

Opponents of the ban, including GLAD and Lambda Legal, filed suit in federal court seeking to have the proposed ban blocked. The military, under the Obama administration, changed rules to allow transgender personnel to serve.

“This is simply one more attempt by a reckless Trump administration to push through a discriminatory policy,” Jennifer Levi, the Transgender Rights Project director at GLAD, said in a statement. “The policy flies in the face of military research and dozens of top military experts.”

But the Department of Justice asked the Supreme Court to fast-track the suit because current policy — adopted during the Obama administration — harms the military.

“[T]he military has concluded [the policy] poses a threat to ‘readiness, good order and discipline, sound leadership, and unit cohesion,’ which ‘are essential to military effectiveness and lethality,’” the request to the high court reads

Concerns over privacy also are an issue, the Department of Justice argues.

“The military…

Christian MP faces retrial over speeding case as jury fails to reach verdict

Fiona Onasanya, 35, allegedly colluded with her brother Festus to escape prosecution for going 41mph in a 30mph zone on July 24 last year.

A Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) was sent back to authorities claiming a Russian man was behind the wheel of her Nissan Micra when it was clocked speeding at the village of Thorney, near Peterborough.

However, inquiries revealed he was in Russia with his parents at the time.

Festus Onasanya, 33, from Cambridge, has admitted three charges of perverting the course of justice, including over the July 24 incident.

His sister, who was elected as Peterborough MP in June last year, denies one charge of perverting the course of justice.

Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC sent the 11-strong Old Bailey jury out to deliberate on its verdict just after 10.30am last Thursday.

On Friday afternoon, he said he would accept a verdict on which 10 jurors were agreed.

After two-and-a-half hours of deliberations on Monday, the jury indicated they could not agree a verdict, even if they had more time.

Discharging the jury, Mr Hilliard QC said: “I have had a note from you saying you do not need any more time.

“Thank you very much for the evident care and attention you have given this case. The case will have to be retried in due course in front of a different jury.”

Speaking to Premier shortly after her election victory she explained her role as a Christian…
