U.S. Appeals Court Rules against Trump on DACA Policy

A U.S. appeals court ruled to block the Trump administration’s attempt to end the Obama-era program that keeps young immigrants from deportation.

The three-judge panel of the 9thU.S. Circuit Court of Appeals voted unanimously to uphold a preliminary injunction that said President Donald Trump could not end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

According to the Associated Press, the case could head to the U.S. Supreme Court. Earlier this week, the Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to weigh in on the case.

“The good news is, by rejecting DACA in the 9th Circuit — finally, we’ve been waiting for that — we get it to the Supreme Court,” Trump said at the White House on Friday. “We want to be in the Supreme Court on DACA.”

Last year, the Department of Homeland Security announced plans to cut DACA “based on serious doubts about its legality and the practical implications of maintaining it.”

In response, many lawsuits were filed across the U.S. including one in California. In that case, a judge ruled against the attempt to shut down DACA and the program was reinstated in January while the program’s future was litigated.

DACA has protected some 700,000 people who were brought into the U.S. illegally as children or came with families with expired visas.

“In upholding Judge Alsup’s preliminary injunction, the Court recognized that Dreamers are ‘no…

‘Anyone who offends Islam will be prosecuted’

There’s been widespread protests in Pakistan following the release of Christian mother Asia Bibi. She was accused of blasphemy but released on appeal after almost a decade in prison.

Speaking about the situation in her own country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said: “Anyone who pronounces offensive comments against it [Islam], or against the Prophet Muhammad, will be prosecuted according to the law.”

She did however speak out against Islamic extremists.

“There is no place for Islamic militancy, terrorism and corruption,” she said. “Bangladesh wants to show that Islam is a religion of peace and wants to be a peaceful, prosperous and developed country.”

Hasina was speaking at a gathering of Islamic schools in Dhaka.

While her comments have caused concern among the Christian community, religious freedom charity Open Doors says believers are more concerned with her alternative.

Next month, the country hold elections with a cross-party coalition looking to unseat the PM, who’s been in power since 2009.

The coalition includes radical Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami.

Speaking on Premier’s News Hour, Tamsin Taylor from the charity, said: “The prime minister has always stressed that she is running a secular country. What the Christians are worried about is the inclusion of the radical Islamists in this bid to unseat her.”

Bangladesh is number 41 on the Open Doors World Watch…

Government to spend £12m championing religious freedom globally

Ministers report the funding will go toward ensuring taxpayer-funded aid projects also promote religious diversity.

They say a key focus of the Coalition for Religious Equality and Inclusive Development programme will be teaching children to respect people who follow other faiths.

The Christian politician Jim Shannon – chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Freedom of Religion and Belief – told Premier he was “very pleased” by the announcement.

The DUP MP added that religious liberty should go hand-in-hand with foreign aid: “We should be tying in the issue of freedom of religious belief not necessarily [as] a condition [of aid] but part of our influence that we can use.

“It’s getting those words into action. I think all ministers are doing that.”

UK aid worth hundreds of millions of pounds is received every year by countries including Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan – nations which have questionable records when it comes to religious freedoms.

Selena Gomez Encourages Fans to Listen to Lauren Daigle’s Music, Says, ‘She’s Speaking My Language’

Selena Gomez Encourages Fans to Listen to Lauren Daigle’s Music, Says, ‘She’s Speaking My Language’

Pop sensation Selena Gomez encouraged fans dealing with depression and anxiety to listen to Lauren Daigle’s song “This Girl.”

Gomez, who is very open about her Christian faith, was diagnosed with Lupus – a chronic autoimmune disease – in 2013.

The singer initially went through chemotherapy to treat the disease in 2013. Since then she has had several stays in rehab facilities for both mental and physical health and she in 2017 she underwent kidney transplant surgery.

Last month TMZ reported that Gomez checked herself into a rehab facility again following discouraging test results showing “alarmingly low white blood cell count in the wake of her kidney transplant.” Upon getting these results Gomez was reportedly, “despondent and emotional,” the outlet reported that she even ripped the IV out of her arm.

The American Music Award winning singer took to social media following the incident but before checking herself into the facility to share a message with her fans about a musician she is loving at the moment.

In her Instagram story Gomez said, “A lot of you asked about anxiety and depression… and I wanted to suggest a song that you can listen to. As some people know I like to listen to worship music and this song makes me feel like I’m talking about that feeling.”

Pope Francis says access to clean water is a human right

In a message to a water management conference in Rome on Thursday, Francis lamented that war, corruption and financial interests often get in the way of providing universal access to clean water for all.

He said recognition of access to clean water as a basic human right is “incompatible” with the concept of water as a merchandise to be bought and sold.

The United Nations first recognised the legal right to safe drinking water in 2010.

The UN says poverty, pollution and climate change are depleting water resources globally, with some 884 million people without access to improved sources of drinking water.

The one-day meeting was held at the Pontifical Urbaniana University.

It was organised by the Dicastery for Promoting Intergral Human Development.

The embassy staff from the Holy See of France, Italy, Monaco and the United States were also involved.

“Liberal icon” fractures 3 ribs in fall

Take my ribs, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.” This is how many across the nation have responded to the news that the longtime Supreme Court justice fell in her office Wednesday evening, breaking three ribs. Others have been less charitable.

Justice Ginsburg is a metaphor for American culture. How you reacted to the news of her accident likely reveals your position on today’s highly partisan political spectrum.

“A flaming feminist litigator”

Justice Ginsburg was one of nine women in her class at Harvard Law School. She was the first woman to become a tenured professor at Columbia University Law School and the co-founder of the Women’s Rights Project at the ACLU. As the leader of this project, she successfully argued six landmark cases before the Supreme Court.

President Clinton nominated her to the Supreme Court in 1993; the Senate confirmed her by a ninety-six to three vote. Since that time, she has gained a reputation for personal fortitude. She has yet to miss a day of oral arguments, even while undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer, recovering from surgery for colon cancer, and grieving the death of her husband in 2010.

Ginsburg has become a “liberal icon” who describes herself as “a flaming feminist litigator.” Her criticism of Donald Trump during the presidential campaign drew applause from his critics and censure from his supporters.

One of the gravest challenges we face

It is tempting to view today’s polarization of the Supreme Court as a necessary reflection of the polarization of our nation. Since we are divided between “red” and “blue” states, rural and urban, liberals and conservatives, it seems fitting that our justices reflect such division. And it seems appropriate that the president should be able to make judicial nominations consistent with his political position since he was elected by the will of the people.

As a very strong pro-life supporter, you might expect me to defend this position since it led to…

Social media can be great for expressing yourself, getting news, meeting new friends, and living out your faith. The problem comes when we post something not so smart. Today we cover six areas to avoid on social media.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • We have to remember that the world is watching when you share something on social media.
  • If you post something online, you should expect it to not stay private.
  • When we post in anger, we are more likely to say something we will regret.
  • Topics that someone incessantly posts about online often becomes their identity.

The six areas that we suggest you avoid are:

  1. Dumb and dumber posts that can’t be retracted
  2. Posts in anger
  3. Most political posts
  4. Too many posts
  5. Bad attempts at humor
  6. Ad hominem attacks on Christian leaders

Church worker among California bar shooting victims ‘loved children’

Noel Sparks helped with the children’s activities at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, her pastor said.

Rev Shawn Thornton said: “She loved kids. We had a lot of parents show up today to say, ‘She made my child feel important and that they mattered.'”

The 21-year-old died when a former US Marine fired shots inside the Borderline Bar & Grill in the city of Thousand Oak – approximately 40 miles north west of Los Angeles.

Describing Noel as an “all-around good girl”, her aunt Patricia Sparks of Morristown in Tennessee told The Associated Press: “We’re in shock.

“She was the kind of girl that if you had friends, you’d want them to marry her.”

Ms Sparks, who was also studying art at Moorpark College, often went to Borderline with friends and her mother.

A sheriff’s sergeant who was the first police officer inside the bar during the attack was also among the victims.

Authorities believe the perpetrator, 28-year-old Ian David Long, killed himself.

DCLM Daily Manna 9 November 2018 – Permit Children

Topic: Permit Children [DCLM Daily Manna 9 November 2018 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Mark 10:13-16 (KJV)

Key Verse: “But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God (Mark 10:14).

MESSAGE:

A 19-year-old youth who committed murder and was awaiting the pronouncement of his death sentence was asked by the judge, “have you anything to say before I give my final judgment? ” “Yes, your honour, I have something to say. Am I alone responsible for the crime I committed? My father put the first bottle of liquor in my hand. My parents taught me that there is nothing to religion. I never saw a Bible in my home. I never heard my parents pray together before we retired for the day. Yes, they fed me – my physical flesh, but my spirit they stabbed and starved. My parents are responsible as well as I am. Let the law take its full course. May God have mercy on my parents’ souls and mine.”

Wise and conscious parents, like the ones in the text, will bring their children to Jesus. Unfortunately, it was those who should know better that wanted to hinder them from getting to Jesus. When Jesus saw this, He was much displeased and instructed that children should be allowed to come to Him because children and childlike minded people are destined for His kingdom.

Parents keep wondering why children and youths of today are so wayward, especially those of ministers, pastors and Christian workers. It is common to see parents pampering and shielding children from church activities. Even when they come to church, many are distracted by academic works they could have planned better for and damned social media engagements.

Good parenting must of necessity include diligence in preparing the children by introducing them to Jesus. We must repent and redirect our efforts to properly bring our children to Christ.

Thought For The Day: Christ, not social media, should be the first and final recourse for youths.

MFM Daily Devotional 9 November 2018 – The Comforting Authority

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 9 November 2018 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – The Comforting Authority

TOPIC: The Comforting Authority (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 9 November 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 10:18-22

MEMORY VERSE: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”John 10:10

The MESSAGE:

Spiritual warfare is defined as the activities of fighting a war of a peculiar nature. It is an aggressive, violent and unseen conflict or struggle. The aim of spiritual warfare is to recover that which was stolen, to protect ourselves from invasion and from being taken over by “strange powers”. Spiritual welfare is connected with the human spirit rather than the body or the physical. It is waging war against evil forces and invisible powers of darkness. It is pulling down strongholds. Spiritual warfare is a praying exercise to enforce our supremacy over terrestrial enemies.

In spiritual warfare, no one is excluded. Age, colour, continent, family, race or distances are not barriers and everybody is involved. The devil hates every Christian, and all he wants to do is destroy, kill and steal your joy as much as possible. The enemy uses the average Christian’s ignorance to his own advantage with the aim of causing troubles and orchestrating disasters. Ignorance is a terrible, defective weapon that leads to great defeat and outright failure in warfare. It prevents a person from accessing the various spiritual weapons and ability to appropriately utilise them. Ignorance gives the devil an edge over any Christian. Elijah knew what he had. Moses knew what he had, and our Lord Jesus Christ knew what He had, which made them all prevail in their endeavours because they all used it.

We need to fight and be victorious in our quest to enforce God’s Lordship over all creation. We fight so that the will of God be done on earth and to show our obedience to God. We fight to execute the judgement written by God against His enemies. We also fight to set the captives free and recover all that have been stolen and to enforce the reconciliation of all things to God. Remember, Jesus said, *”Greater works shall ye do”*. Therefore, knowing that you have the required relationship with God is recognising what you have and how to use it. It is knowing your right as a saint, knowing that you can deal with the enemy and its powers, and your ability to rule, to govern, to command and to dominate your environment. A General in the Nigerian Army will always comfort himself because of the authority given to him by the Nigerian government. Do not be frightened. It is high time you challenged the powers challenging God in your life.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
IT IS THE SPIRIT OF FEAR THAT MAKE CHRISTIANS THINK THAT POWERS OF DARKNESS CAN DESTROY THEM.

PROPHETIC WORD:
I decree that your faith shall arise and swallow your fear and you shall be a terror against the kingdom of darkness.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Father, I thank You for giving me the power over the enemy, in the name of Jesus.
2. Power to exercise my authority over my oppressors, come upon my life, in the name of Jesus.
3. I will go to war as from today in the spirit of Elijah, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Weapons of spiritual warfare, necessary for my battles, be released unto me now from God’s armoury, in the name of Jesus.
5. Every agent of darkness in charge of my troubles, wherever you are, die, in Jesus’ name.
6. By the authority in the name of Jesus, my troubles, give way and die, in the name of Jesus.
7. I receive the sword of fire, and I cut off the heads of all my oppressors now, in the name of Jesus.
