It is estimated that between 130,000 and 200,000 United States veterans are homeless, but one organization is determined to lower that number one tiny house at a time.

Veterans Community Project is a non-profit organization based out of Kansas City, Missouri that is working provide housing for Homeless Veterans by building a tiny house community. The organization is also aiming to address the underlying causes of veteran homelessness.

According to CNN, the Veterans Community Project is the brainchild of a group of young veterans led by former US Army Corporal Chris Stout.

Stout was medically retired from the military after being wounded in Afghanistan in 2005 and suffering from PTSD.

Upon his return home, Stout got a job connecting veterans to necessary services but found himself growing frustrated by the lack of resources available to them.

So, in 2015, Stout and a few friends quit their jobs to start the Veterans Community Project.

“We are the place that says ‘yes’ first and figures everything else out later,” Stout said. “We serve anybody who’s ever raised their hand to defend our Constitution.”

Stout told CNN that the tiny homes create a safe and independent environment for the vets, something that they often find traditional shelters struggle to achieve for them.

According to the organization’s website, the goal of the tiny homes is to “provide the…

A 69-year-old Dutch man is borrowing a page from the transgender debate and asking the courts to change his birth certificate to reflect the age he “feels” – specifically, as a man who was born in 1969 and not 1949.

Emile Ratelband says he has the health and mentality of a man in his 40s, even though he’s in his 60s. He wants society to recognize that.

“In Europe and in the United States, we are free people,” he told The Washington Post. “We can make our own decisions if we want to change our name, or if we want to change our gender. So I want to change my age. My feeling about my body and about my mind is that I’m about 40 or 45.”

Ratelband lives in Arnhem, which is southeast of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Being younger, he says, would make dating easier. It also could open up job prospects, he told the newspaper. Ratelband is a trainer and life coach who became motivated to change his age by listening to Tony Robbins.

“You have to make your dreams come true from visualization,” Ratelband said, quoting what he learned from Robbins.

Officials at the local town hall rejected his request. He hopes the courts see it differently.

“This is American thinking,” he said, referencing what Robbins teaches. “Why can’t I change my age if I want to? You have to stretch yourself. If you think you can jump one meter, now I want to jump…

In what officials are heralding as a “world first, Scotland will require schools to “embed” teaching LGBT rights into their curriculum in a move they believe will tackle “homophobia and discrimination.”

The new guidelines call for schools to teach the history of LGBT people and movements, LGBT identity, LGBT equality, and issues related to homophobia.

Ministers accepted recommendations for the new requirements from a “working group” which was led by a campaign called “Time for Inclusive Education.” The campaign, founded in 2015 and based in Scotland, claims to have “one aim: to combat homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in schools with LGBT-inclusive education.” The driving force behind their campaign is the belief that, “LGBT history, role models, & issues affecting LGBT young people should be taught & recognized within all schools.”

TIE’s co-founder, Jordan Daly, heralded the decision, saying, “This is a monumental victory for our campaign, and a historic moment for our country. The implementation of LGBTI inclusive education across all state schools is a world first. In a time of global uncertainty, this sends a strong and clear message to LGBTI young people that they are valued here in Scotland.”

Government officials believe the move signals Scotland’s commitment to “progressive” causes. Deputy first minister…

The Department of Health and Human Services issued a final rule this week that gives protections to companies and organizations who object to providing abortion-inducing drugs to their employees as part of their health care plans.

The controversy dates back to the Obama administration when HHS issued rules forcing companies – including some religious organizations – to cover drugs that can induce a chemical abortion. That sparked a series of lawsuits by Christian colleges, universities and other religious groups.

The Trump administration overturned those requirements. On Wednesday HHS issued its final rule that provides “conscience protections to Americans who have a religious or moral objection to health insurance that covers contraceptive methods,” including “certain contraceptives that many view as abortifacients, and/or sterilization procedures,” according to a summary of the new rule on the HHS website. The new rules do not apply to publicly traded companies.

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, did not require such coverage. Legal groups that specialize in religious liberty issues applauded the action.

“The beliefs that inspire Christian colleges and universities, as well as groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor, to serve their communities should be protected,” said Gregory S. Baylor of Alliance Defending Freedom. “Through…

Christian End Times prepper Jim Bakker said that God told him He put Donald Trump on this earth to give the church time to prepare for the impending end.

On a television broadcast, the well-known End Time prepper asked the audience if they had ever seen so much hatred for a political leader. Bakker said, “Have you ever seen a time when we hate our president like the people do now?” He added, “Literally half the nation hates the president and would probably kill him if they got a chance.”

During the broadcast, Bakker noted that he prayed to God asking Him why the current climate is as hostile as it is.

According to the televangelist, God answered him by pointing to the book of Revelation. Bakker said God told him “you are in Revelation, Chapter 6,” which speaks of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. According to the End Times prepper, God told him that the first horse of the Apocalypse is beginning to ride on the earth.

Bakker said, “There is such a hatred for the gospel. This is the Antichrist spirit loose,” and for this reason, “God has given us a man who is not afraid to fight. We have a president people think is crazy. They call him crazy, but he’s making peace treaties, he’s doing all the things to try to solve the world’s problems and God has put him on earth—God spoke to me the other night, He said, ‘I put Donald Trump on…

After a legal battle lasting nearly two years, a conservative college professor reprimanded by his school for having “dangerous” views on marriage has won the fight.

The Pacific Justice Institute stated that an arbitrator ruled in favor of Moreno Valley College sociology professor Eric Thompson. According to WND.com the lengthy legal battle entailed a series of depositions and administrative hearings, as well as an arbitration that lasted for several days.

Thompson was reprimanded by the institution several years ago for discussing topics that included marriage, homosexuality, and gender roles with his students.

During the course of his class the professor reportedly “also circulated the film ‘Understanding Same-Sex Attraction’ which suggested homosexuality might be a choice rather than hard-wired,” the institute stated.

According to PJI, the sociology professor introduced conservative thought regarding controversial matters as a way to challenge his students to defend their assumptions.

Numerous students and colleagues viewed the way in which Thompson seemingly endorsed non-liberal beliefs to be a form of “harassment,” come even calling it “dangerous,” PJI mentioned.

“Instead of promoting academic freedom and critical thinking skills, the community college swiftly terminated Thompson’s employment due to the ‘immoral’…

Former “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette took to Twitter on Monday to encourage Christians to vote against the Republican party saying, President Donald Trump is the “opposite of Jesus” and she would not be supporting him or “his pals.”

Perrette, who played NCIS forensic scientist Abby Scuito for 15 seasons before leaving the show, posted a screenshot of a note to her Twitter account sharing why, as a Christian, she was happy with her vote.

Perrette wrote, “Where is Jesus when voting for someone who does the opposite of Jesus? I’m serious. I’m a faith-driven person. Jesus didn’t make fun of people, say horribly mean things, spread hate about race, women, handicapped and pretty much any target that makes the hateful cheer.”

She continued, “I’m happy with my vote, as a Christian, to listen to love and Jesus and vote against Trump and his pals in any way. He is a mean, mean man. He’s fooling you. Stop laughing with him. It’s cruelty and it’s wrong.”

Perrette captioned the screenshot with a Bible verse – Matthew 16:26 – which says, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?”
