Black Panther Star Reveals How Her Christian Faith Transformed Her Life

Black Panther Star Reveals How Her Christian Faith Transformed Her Life

When Black Panther star Letitia Wright recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed that her faith plays a significant role in how she approaches her career.

Wright began her acting career in the early 2010s with smaller roles in tv shows, including Doctor Who and Top Boy. While she scored a few feature roles, Wright soon found herself battling depression throughout her early years in Hollywood.

In an article from Tribune Content Agency, Wright thought back to that difficult period: “I was putting so much pressure on myself. You get comfortable with the idea of thinking, ‘Maybe it’s OK to leave.’ [I was in] a very dark place.”

The actress made the decision to take a break from acting, as she felt that she “idolized it.” She opened up to FaithWire in a February interview, recalling her choice to temporarily step back from the spotlight:

“So I came off from it and I went on a journey to discover my relationship with God, and I became a Christian,” she mentioned. “It really just gave me so much love and light within myself. I felt secure, like I didn’t need validation from anyone else, or from getting a part.”

In 2015, Wright began to attend a Bible study and began following Jesus shortly thereafter. She knew that she needed to take time for herself and focus on what was really important in her life. This turned out to…

69-Y-O Dutch Man Asks Court to Declare He is 49, Cites Transgender Ideology, American Thinking, Trump, and Tinder – Urban Christian News

Claiming age is as fluid as gender, Emile Ratelband, a 69-year-old Dutch pensioner who feels like he’s in his 40s has asked a court in his hometown of Arnhem, southeast of Amsterdam, to allow him to change his birth certificate to show that he is as young as he feels.

According to The Washington Post, Ratelband wants his birth certificate to say he was born on March 11, 1969, rather than on March 11, 1949 when he was actually born.

Judges heard Ratelband’s case on Monday and are expected to make a decision on the case in the next several weeks.

Ratelband, who is advocating for his age change similar to arguments made by the transgender movement, agreed to see mental health professionals to assure officials that he wasn’t a “victim of the Peter Pan syndrome.” He convinced experts that he wasn’t deluding himself and insists his request is no different than if he was seeking a petition to change the gender he was assigned at birth.

“Because nowadays, in Europe and in the United States, we are free people,” Ratelband told The Washington Post. “We can make our own decisions if we want to change our name, or if we want to change our gender. So I want to change my age. My feeling about my body and about my mind is that I’m about 40 or 45.”

Ratelband, a trainer and life coach who previously worked as a baker, believes that if he is legally recognized to be in his 40s he can, among other things, improve his dating life.

Trump Ousts Jeff Sessions as Attorney General

Trump Ousts Jeff Sessions as Attorney General

President Trump removed Attorney General Jeff Sessions from his post Wednesday, ending a tumultuous relationship that began souring after Sessions recused himself from overseeing the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Sessions sent Trump a resignation letter hours after being asked to step down. He was among the first prominent Republicans to endorse Trump during the Republican primaries.

“At your request, I am submitting my resignation,” the letter read. “Since the day I was honored to be sworn in as Attorney General of the United States, I came to work at the Department of Justice every day determined to do my duty and serve my country. I have done so to the best of my ability, working to support the fundamental legal processes that are the foundation of justice.”

The letter added that the Justice Department had, under Sessions’ time, “restored and upheld the rule of law” and “operated with integrity” and “lawfully and aggressively advanced the policy agenda of this administration.”

Trump repeatedly had expressed regret for appointing Sessions to the post, saying if he had known Sessions was going to recuse himself, he would have hired someone else.

Trump named Sessions’ chief of staff, Matt Whitaker, as the acting attorney general. The Washington Post reported Thursday that Whitaker isn’t expected to recuse himself from the…

(Screenshot: YouTube)Televangelist Creflo Dollar, promotes his Grace Life Academy.

Televangelist Creflo Dollar, founder and senior pastor of the nearly 30,000-member World Changers Church International, is now offering a $19 per month online Bible study that he says will help people make withdrawals from God’s metaphorical bank account.

Through Dollar’s online discipleship courses that launched during the summer, Grace Life Academy, subscribers will have unlimited access to his Bible studies which he recently explained in a promotional video will help them live a life of “joy and abundance.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to share a practical example of how to empower your life with an understanding of the grace message,” Dollar said in a video posted to YouTube on Monday.

“Let’s use an example you all are familiar with. You have a bank account. A need arises so you access the funds in that account to pay for dinner or to pay for something nice for yourself. We know in order to access the account, you need a couple of things. You either need the bank account information or the bank card. Without the account information or the bank card, you will not be able to access the funds contained within it,” he said.

“So many of us are living our lives with unmet needs,…

Lauren Daigle Brings Worship to Late Night, Performs on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Lauren Daigle made her late night debut last night as she graced The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon stage performing her song “Look Up Child.”

The Billboard Music award winner took to the stage Wednesday night to sing the title track from her new hit album which reached number one of the Top Christian Albums chart and number three on the Billboards Top 200 chart.

Daigle has recently been making the mainstream talk show rounds first appearing on The Ellen Show late last month which was met with some criticism.

The Christian artists defended her decision to perform on the openly-gay talk show hosts show in a radio interview saying, “I think the second we start drawing lines around which people are able to be approached and which aren’t, we’ve already completely missed the heart of God.”

She continued, “I don’t have all the answers in life, but one thing I know is that I can’t choose who I’m supposed to be kind to and who I’m not, because that’s the mission right? Be who Christ was to everyone as well.”

Daigle’s performance on The Tonight Show was met with much more excitement following her defense, many people excited that a Christian artist is getting mainstream publicity.

One Twitter user wrote, “Lauren Daigle on Jimmy Fallon… BRING ON THE PRAISE!”

UK gov welcome release of Sudan Christians

In a written question to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Tory MP Sir Henry Bellingham (pictured) asked what the government was doing to promote freedom of religion and belief after reports of the arrest of 13 Christians in Darfur in October.

According to World Watch Monitor, the believers were taken by security services from the home they share in Nyala with no reason given for their arrest.

They were released shortly after.

There have also been reports of Christians being accused of apostasy and churches in dispute with authorities over ownership of buildings.

Responding to the reports, Foreign Office minister Harriett Baldwin: said: “The British Government is aware of reports of the detention of 13 Christians in Darfur last month, and welcomes their recent release.

“We continue to make clear to the Government of Sudan our expectation that all detainees are treated in accordance with international standards.

“Sudan remains a Human Rights Priority Country for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and we discussed freedom of religion or belief at the sixth round of the UK-Sudan Strategic Dialogue on 7 November. I visited Sudan in September, and the Minister for the Commonwealth and UN visited in October. We both raised religious freedom issues with senior members of the government and with Christian and Muslim religious leaders.”

Open Heaven 9 November 2018 – The Lord is my Defender

Open Heaven 9 November 2018 Friday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – The Lord is my Defender

Topic: The Lord is my Defender (Open Heaven 9 November 2018)

Memorise: “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”- Psalm 3:3

Read: Psalm 3:1-8 (KJV)

1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 51, Luke 19:1-27

Open Heaven 9 November 2018 Friday MESSAGE:

The sure defender of the oppressed is his Maker. David’s personal experience of this truth caused him to pen the words of today’s Bible reading. Is the Lord your defender? Your answer may be “yes”, but your actions may say “no”, in the sense that the fellow you run to determines who your defender truly is. Here is David’s testimony in Psalm 3:4:

“I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.”

Is this also your testimony? Who do you cry to when faced with challenges in life – your biological father, mother, friend or worst of all, a witchdoctor? The story was told of a man who went to consult a witchdoctor for help. The witchdoctor promised to help this man and told him to return in seven days for a charm that would subdue his enemies. When he arrived on the seventh day, he met a lot of people in mourning, and he thought that one of the witchdoctor’s in-patients must have died. To his shock however, when he asked to see the witchdoctor, he was told that the one who promised him victory over his enemies had just given up the ghost. This is the reason why Jeremiah 17:5 says:

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”

The Psalmist was able to put his trust in the Lord because he refused to be afraid of men, in spite of their fiery looks and large number. In Psalm 3:6, he wrote:

“I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.”

Anyone who declares such words must have had access to God’s wisdom in Proverbs 29:25, which says:

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”

The Psalmist also did something that I would like you to do today: he cried to the Lord. He did not pretend that all was well, like some people do. In Psalm 3:7, He prayed that God should arise to save him. This prayer worked for David, and it will work for you also if you will not have any other god beside the Almighty Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. After crying to God, David affirmed that salvation belonged to Him and that His blessing was upon His people (Psalm 3:8). I pray that the Lord of host will defend you and your cause as you cry to Him today in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 9 November 2018 Friday Action Point:

Devote quality time to cry to the Lord, asking Him to arise and defend you today. As you cry out to Him, He will arise in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 9 November 2018 Friday Hymn 11: O God Our Help In Ages Past

1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the op’ning day.

6. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.

Kentucky Country Clerk Who Refused to Sign Marriage Licenses for Same-Sex Couples, Loses Clerkship

Kentucky Country Clerk Who Refused to Sign Marriage Licenses for Same-Sex Couples, Loses Clerkship

The Kentucky county clerk who made news for refusing to sign marriage licenses for same-sex couples lost her county seat to a Democratic challenger this week.

Kim Davis, a Republican, lost her reelection bid for the Rowan County clerkship to challenger Elwood Caudill Jr. She lost by about 700 votes, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

In 2015, Davis was jailed for five days after she refused to sign marriage licenses for gay couples. She said she acted under “God’s authority” when she refused to sign the marriage licenses. She was released from jail and published a book, “Under God’s Authority: The Kim Davis Story.”

Many conservatives, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, supported her decision to deny the marriage licenses.

This week, however, Davis lost her county seat for a job that pays about $80,000 annually. She was originally elected in 2014 as a Democrat but later switched to Republican.

Caudill will now assume the seat. This was his second try at running for the county clerkship. He lost in the primaries to Davis in 2014.

“I believe that as a community we must continue to work together toward a more prosperous and cohesive Rowan County,” Caudill said after his win. “Tonight was awesome.”

Caudill also faced off in the Democratic primaries against David Ermold, one of the men whom…

Children still affected five years on from Philippines typhoon

The typhoon claimed more than six thousand lives when it devastated the Philippines in 2013.

One child, Marylourds Lim, aged eleven, survived the disaster, but struggled to deal with the mental trauma it caused.

She told the Sailors’ Society: “I kept thinking about it. I kept dreaming a dog was chasing me. I felt that there was another typhoon coming.”

Since the typhoon, the charity has rebuilt 48 homes, four medical centres and three classrooms that double as emergency shelters.

It also founded a Seafarers’ Pupil’s Club to help children come to terms with their traumatic experiences and train them in preparing for disasters.

Having attended the club, Marylourds added, “We were taught how to prepare before and after the typhoon, what we should do. I’m not afraid anymore.”

Sandra Welch, deputy CEO of the Sailors Society, told Premier:

“I’ve spoken many times to the children in the school, their parents and their teachers. As I spoke to them, I realised that many of them are still really traumatised by what had happened. They were still afraid.”

Around a quarter of the world’s seafarers come from the Philippines and the country is key to world trade. With more than 20 deadly storms hitting the Philippines annually, the Sailors’ Society has also set up a Crisis Response Network to help those affected by trauma.

Christian Mother Acquitted of Blasphemy in Pakistan Released from Prison

Christian Mother Acquitted of Blasphemy in Pakistan Released from Prison

LAHOREPakistan, November 8, 2018 (Morning Star News) – A Christian mother who spent nine years on death row before being acquitted in Pakistan’s most high-profile blasphemy case was released from prison late Wednesday night (Nov. 7), sources said.

Sources close to the family and government officials confirmed that Aasiya Noreen, better known as Asia Bibi, was released from Multan Central Jail late last night and is in protective custody after authorities received release documents. But they denied reports that she had boarded a plane and left the country.

She had remained behind bars despite being acquitted of blasphemy charges by Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Oct. 31.

Earlier reports circulated in local media that Noreen had been flown from Multan International Airport to Noor Khan Airbase in Islamabad on a private aircraft, and that she and her family had then boarded a plane to the Netherlands. An Interior Ministry official initially confirmed that she was en route to the Netherlands, but later the Pakistani Foreign Office rejected as “rumors” that Noreen had been flown out of Pakistan.

“There is no truth in reports of her leaving the country – it is fake news,” Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Faisal told a press briefing.

Faisal reiterated that Noreen was in Pakistan and “in a safe place.”

“Aasiya Bibi is a free citizen. After the…
