78 students kidnapped by gunmen from Christian school

The kidnapping late Sunday took place near Bamenda (pictured above), the capital of the troubled English-speaking region, according to Governor Deben Tchoffo.

A video purportedly of the kidnapped children has been release on social media via men who call themselves Amba boys, a reference to the state of Ambazonia that armed separatists are trying to establish in Cameroon’s northwest and southwest regions.

In the video, the kidnappers force about six of the children to give their names and the names of their parents.

The children say they were kidnapped late on Sunday, and they do not know where they are being held.

The men who identify themselves as the kidnappers say they will only release the children when they achieve what they want.

“We shall only release you after the struggle. You will be going to school now here,” say the men.

While the video could not be independently verified, parents have been reacting on social media saying they recognise their children in the video.

Hundreds have been killed in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions in the past year, where violence between armed separatists and the military have increased since a government crackdown against protesters in the northwest and southwest regions who claim that as the English-speaking minority they are marginalised by the French-speaking government.

Violent separatists took up arms to…

Kenneth Copeland Devotional 6 November 2018 – You’re a Winner

Topic: You’re a Winner [Kenneth Copeland Devotional 6 November 2018]

I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 1 John 2:14

Man was created to be a winner. The Bible tells us so. We read in Genesis, for example, that man was originally put on this earth as a dominating lord. God gave him dominion over the earth and everything that crept, flew, crawled and breathed there.

Man didn’t even know what losing was until he separated himself from God through disobedience in the Garden of Eden. When that happened, he ran headlong into defeat. He was forced to accept failure as his lot in life, lowering himself to a subordinate position—a position he was never meant to occupy.

It’s a sad story. But if you’re a born-again child of God, your story has a happy ending. Through faith in Christ Jesus, you’ve been made a winner once again!

In fact, God has guaranteed your success. Let me show you what I mean. Imagine you’re about to tackle a really tough job, and before you even get started on it, God speaks to you right out loud and says, I just want you to know, I’m going to personally see to it that this project you’re working on succeeds.

Well, let me tell you something. You do have God’s promise that you’ll succeed. He said in His Word that you’re an overcomer! In Him you can overcome any problem the world throws your way (1 John 5:1-5).

It doesn’t matter how much you feel like a loser. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve failed in the past. If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, then you’ve become more than a conqueror in Him (Romans 8:37).

Does that mean you won’t have any more trouble? No. It simply means you can go through that trouble and emerge triumphant.

If you’ve been feeling like a failure lately, renew your mind to the Word of God that says you’re a success. Every time a challenge comes up, respond by saying, “Well, praise God, I can beat this thing because I’m an overcomer in Jesus!” Let that Word from God abide in your heart. It will make a winner out of you.

Scripture Reading: 1 John 5:1-5

Andrew Wommack Devotional 6 November 2018 – Seek The Will Of God

Topic: Seek The Will Of God [Andrew Wommack Devotional 6 November 2018]

Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”

Text: Luke 22:41-42

Jesus knew it was the Father’s will for Him to be made an offering for the sins of the world. This is true because He prophesied His death and resurrection many times before. However, because of His unique relationship with God, Jesus was asking God to accomplish His will some other way, but at the same time affirming His commitment to do His Father’s will and not His own.

He was not at a loss to know God’s will and therefore, left this time of prayer trusting that whatever the Father deemed best for Him would happen.

He knew, when He began praying what the Father’s will was and He knew at the close of His prayer, that God’s will could not be accomplished any other way.

For us to pray, “Lord, if it be thy will” in response to a promise that God has given us is nothing but unbelief and is not even remotely related to what Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. One of the foundational principles of answered prayer is that we must believe that we receive when we pray (Mk. 11:24). There is no way that we can fulfill that condition if we don’t know God’s will in that situation. Praying, “if it be thy will” takes us out of the active position of believing and puts us in the passive position of waiting and letting circumstances rule our lives. If we are seeking direction in an area where God’s will is not already expressed through His Word, then we should pray James 1:5, and ask for wisdom. Then we can believe that we receive when we pray, and with that knowledge continue our prayer in faith.

We should not be ignorant but understand what the will of the Lord is (Eph. 5:17).

The only appropriate time to pray, “If it be thy will” is when we are dedicating ourselves to the service of God, regardless of where or what that may be.

Billy Graham Devotional 6 November 2018 – God Made You

Topic: God Made You [Billy Graham Devotional 6 November 2018]

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength . . . ” — Isaiah 40:31

It is an exhilarating experience to live the new life, with Christ inside me enabling me to live it. As a man was riding along in his Ford, suddenly something went wrong. He got out and looked at the engine, but he could find nothing wrong. As he stood there, another car came in sight, and he waved it down to ask for help. Out of a brand new Lincoln stepped a tall, friendly man who asked, “Well, what’s the trouble?” “I cannot get this Ford to move,” was the reply. The stranger made a few adjustments under the hood and then said, “Now start the car.” When the motor started, its grateful owner introduced himself and then asked, “What is your name, sir?” “My name,” answered the stranger, “is Henry Ford.”

The one who made the Ford knew how to make it run. God made you and me, and He alone knows how to run your life and mine. We could make a complete wreck of our lives without Christ. When He is at the controls, all goes well. Without Him, we can do nothing.

Prayer for the day: Lord, so often I forget to give You complete control and I fail. Teach me to rely completely on You for my strength and needs.

Government in Pakistan under Pressure from Islamists Protesting Asia Bibi Acquittal

Government in Pakistan under Pressure from Islamists Protesting Asia Bibi Acquittal

LAHOREPakistan, November 5, 2018 (Morning Star News) – The Pakistani government on Friday (Nov. 2) capitulated to demands of Islamist groups protesting the acquittal of Christian mother Aasiya Noreen, better known as Asia Bibi, by agreeing to allow the possibility of a Supreme Court review of the verdict.

In the agreement between administration officials and leaders of an Islamic extremist group, the government also agreed to prohibit Noreen from leaving the country until the high court decides whether to review the petition.

The government found itself amid hurricane-force pressures as violent protests over the acquittal paralyzed routine life in several cities for three days, raising fears of civil war in a country already on the brink of an economic meltdown.

Soon after a three-judge panel led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar announced on Wednesday (Oct. 31) the acquittal of Noreen, who has been incarcerated for nearly nine years on fabricated charges of blasphemy, thousands of supporters of the Islamic extremist Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) blocked main roads and highways in several Pakistani cities. Some resorted to vandalism and violence to pressure the government against releasing the Christian mother of two children and stepmother to three.

Led by firebrand clerics Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Pir Afzal Qadri, the TLP is…

Saudi Arabia Tells UN It Will Prosecute Khashoggi Killers – Urban Christian News

Saudi Arabia told the United Nations on Monday it would prosecute those responsible for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at its Istanbul consulate, as Western states pressed it for a credible investigation.

Bandar Al Aiban, the head of the Saudi government delegation at the first U.N. review of the kingdom’s record in five years, heard calls from more than 40 nations, including the United States, for a thorough inquiry and a string of rights reforms.

He told the hearing that King Salman had instructed the Saudi public prosecutor to “proceed with the investigation into this case according to the applicable laws” with a view to establishing the facts and “bringing all the perpetrators to justice”.

“As regards the passing of citizen Khashoggi, our country is committed to carrying out a fair investigation and all persons involved with that crime will be prosecuted in the justice system,” Aiban said at the end of the half-day session.

Aiban gave no details on the status or whereabouts of the 18 Saudi nationals detained in connection with the case and repeatedly declined to answer journalists’ questions about them, saying: “The case is still under investigation, as you know…I think my statement was very clear.”

Khashoggi’s sons on Monday demanded the return of the body of the Washington Post columnist and critic of the Saudi government, who disappeared at the consulate on Oct. 2.

Saudi officials initially insisted Khashoggi had left the consulate, then said he died in an unplanned “rogue operation”. The kingdom’s public prosecutor Saud al-Mojeb…

UK remains silent on Asia Bibi as asylum calls intensify

Former attorney general Dominic Grieve has urged the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary to extend to Asia and her family permission to seek refuge in the UK.

Mr Grieve said the treatment of Ms Bibi – who spent eight years on death row after being convicted of blasphemy – had been “deplorable” and he urged ministers to intervene.

Referring to Asia and her family, he told Premier: “It seems to me quite clear that their future in Pakistan is an impossible one, in view of the threats they’re under.

“They’re, therefore, eminently eligible for asylum and I would hope that the United Kingdom government would be in a position to make that offer.”

Thousands of people took to the streets of Pakistan’s major cities in protest last week after the country’s Supreme Court acquitted Asia Bibi. Demonstrators demanded she be publicly executed.

Asia Bibi had been accused of insulting the Islamic prophet Muhammad during a row with a group of Muslim women in 2009. She had always denied any wrongdoing.

Conservative MP for New Forest West, Sir Desmond Swayne told Premier many Christians in the UK were supportive of Asia Bibi’s plight.

He told Premier: “There’s no question of the right to asylum in this case and I would think, yes, given the strength of feeling that’s been felt by so many of…

Open Heaven 6 November 2018 – The Fields are Ripe for Harvest

Open Heaven 6 November 2018 Tuesday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – The Fields are Ripe for Harvest

Topic: The Fields are Ripe for Harvest (Open Heaven 6 November 2018)

Memorise: “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.John 4:35

Read: John 4:34-38 (KJV)

34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 46-48, Luke 17:11-37

Open Heaven 6 November 2018 Tuesday MESSAGE:

In preparation for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, your involvement in soul-winning is an indicator that shows how big your dream of heaven is. Anyone who has a big dream of the second coming will do everything within his or her power to ensure that not only is the gospel preached all over the world, but also that souls are won in multitudes to the kingdom of God. In Matthew 24:14, Jesus said:

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

In other words, our dream of a new heaven and a new earth cannot be realized until we have preached the gospel all over the world. It is therefore incumbent on us to pursue the actualization of our dream of the coming kingdom through aggressive evangelism, missionary works and soul-winning.

No matter how much we discuss and study the second coming of Christ, it is of no use if we do not do what will bring the kingdom of God back to the earth. The task ahead of us is very simple if we really want to be true to our Master. He has assigned the easier part of the assignment to us, which is reaping the harvest of fields we did not cultivate, and receiving the accompanying wages. John 4:36 & 38 says:

“36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.”

Others, like the early apostles of Jesus Christ, have labored in the fields, expecting that we as reapers will bring in the harvest in the last days. The work ahead of us is easier than ever before; all we need to do is to make ourselves available for the ready-made harvest of souls all over the world. Romans 8:19 says:

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”

The world is waiting for us; if we do not fulfill our assignment as reapers, the harvest will be wasted. However, if we put in our sickles as commanded, we and the souls rescued from eternal damnation will be happy. If we choose to be complacent in soul winning, our Lord’s return will be delayed, and this would prolong our suffering in this world (Romans 8:23). Therefore, put in your sickle today.

Open Heaven 6 November 2018 Tuesday Action Point:

Determine to reap the already white harvest around you, and make disciples of your neighbors who are earnestly seeking God’s deliverance.

1. Wonderful story of love;
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love;
Wake the immortal strain!
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, oh, won’t you believe it?
Wonderful story of love.

Chorus:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful, wonderful story of love.

2. Wonderful story of love;
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love;
Still He doth call today;
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal-bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation,
Wonderful story of love.

3. Wonderful story of love;
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love;
For all the pure and blest,
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus,
Wonderful story of love.

Scientists Sign Petition to Argue That Gender Is Not Biological

Scientists Sign Petition to Argue That Gender Is Not Biological

Some 1,600 scientists have signed an open letter to the Trump administration that denounces the administration’s plan to try to define gender as a biological condition determined at birth.

Eight Nobel laureates are among the scientists who signed the letter, arguing against a Department of Health and Human Services memo that said the legal definition of sex is determined at birth.

“As a trans woman and as a scientist, [the memo is] inherently an attack on my humanity, my ability to exist in the world, and to safely navigate certain spaces,” Mika Tosca, an assistant professor of climate science at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, told BuzzFeed News

“It was really important that we gather as many scientists as we could to say that so scientists ourselves were not complicit in promoting this wholly flawed, non-scientific effort.”

The letter asks for the Trump administration to withdraw the proposal to legally change the definition of gender, calling the proposal “unscientific” and promoting “pseudoscience.”

“There are no genetic tests that can unambiguously determine gender or even sex,” the letter states, and “even if such tests existed, it would be unconscionable to use the pretext of science to enact policies that overrule the lived experience of people’s own gender identities.”

The HHS memo said government agencies need a…

France Gives 30 Million Euros of Aid to Gambia in Push for Stability – Urban Christian News

France gave 30 million euros ($34 million) of aid to Gambia on Monday as part of efforts to support its democratic transition and ensure stability in a region Paris deems vital to its interests.

Born of British and French colonial rivalry in the 19th century and surrounded by francophone Senegal, Gambia – a tourist haven and groundnut producer – won independence from Britain in 1965.

President Adama Barrow won the December 2016 election by beating exiled authoritarian former leader Yahya Jammeh, who fled Gambia after regional militaries launched an operation to remove him.

“What’s at stake is consolidating democracy and stability in Gambia,” said a French diplomatic source, as French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian visited Gambia.

Paris has major economic interests in Senegal and wants to ensure a rebel movement in the southern Casamance area, separated from the more affluent north by Gambia, does not flare up after Jammeh broke ties with Dakar and destabilized the area.

The International Monetary Fund has warned Gambia against any new borrowing after its debt stock reached 130 percent of gross domestic product at the end of last year.

The aid provided by France comprises 5 million euros for budgetary support, 20 million for drinking water projects and 5 million for agriculture.

Under President Emmanuel Macron, France is attempting to broaden its economic influence in Africa to anglophone regions.

French firms including Bollore and energy group Total are among those vying for contracts in Gambia.
