Brazil’s New President Vows to Move Brazilian Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem

Brazil’s New President Vows to Move Brazilian Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem

Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil’s far-right president elect, recently disclosed plans to move Brazil’s embassy to Jerusalem.

“As previously stated during our campaign, we intend to transfer the Brazilian Embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem,” Bolsonaro stated in a Facebook post on Thursday.  “Israel is a sovereign state and we shall duly respect that.”

In an interview with Israel Hayom, Bolsonaro said, “When I was asked during the campaign if I’ll do it [relocate the embassy] when I was president, I said yes, and that you’re the ones who decide on the capital of Israel, not other people.”

U.S. president Donald Trump, who moved the United States embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel as well, weighed in on Bolsonaro’s decision on Twitter writing, “Had a very good conversation with the newly elected President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonsro, who won his race by a substantial margin. We agreed that Brazil and the United States will work closely together on Trade, Military, and everything else! Excellent call, wished him congrats!”

Evangelical Leaders Meet Saudi Crown Prince, ‘Lift Up the Name of Jesus’

Evangelical Leaders Meet Saudi Crown Prince, ‘Lift Up the Name of Jesus’

A delegation of evangelical leaders met Thursday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and said in a public statement that “it is our desire to lift up the name of Jesus whenever we are asked and wherever we go.”

Bin Salman’s role in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi remains unclear, although the meeting had been in the works for two months, the group told The Washington Post. The delegation met with other Saudi officials, but bin Salman — who is second only behind the king — was the most prominent.

Human rights were discussed, said public relations executive A. Larry Ross, who was present.

“We even returned to it a second time later in the discussion because of its importance, and were encouraged by the Crown Prince’s candor in his response,” Ross told The Post.

The White House did not set up the meeting, a member of the delegation told The Post. Several issues arose, including the group’s desire to have the Saudis strengthen their ties to Israel.

Other members included Johnnie Moore; author Joel Rosenberg; former U.S. congresswoman Michele Bachmann; Jerry A. Johnson of the National Religious Broadcasters; Michael Little, formerly of the Christian Broadcasting Network; writer Mike Evans; New Mexico pastor Skip Heitzig; and former NRB CEO Wayne Pederson.

“We were pleased by the invitation extended to us more than…

Leading atheist defends aborting babies with Down’s syndrome on Premier’s ‘Big Conversation’

Peter Singer, who is professor of bioethics at Princeton University and a noted moral philosopher, admits he does not regard unborn babies as having the same value as mature humans or even some animals, until they have acquired the ability to reason and have preferences.

The debate, released today, explores the basis for the value ascribed to human life and whether morality is discovered as part of the fabric of the universe and grounded in a source beyond ourselves.

It has been released as part of The Big Conversation series and hosted by Premier Christian Radio presenter, Justin Brierley.

Singer, who is well known for defending utilitarian ethics which seeks to maximise overall happiness said: “If the disability is Down Syndrome, typically something like 85 per cent of pregnant women will opt to terminate the pregnancy.

“I think that that’s a defensible decision and I think it’s a defensible decision because I think it’s reasonable to prefer to have a child without Down Syndrome than one with Down Syndrome.”

The ‘Animal Liberation‘ and ‘The Life You Can Save‘ author continued: “I think I attract opposition from people who try to maintain that life with disabilities is just as good and we should not, as they say, discriminate against people with disabilities. But obviously, as I say, most people do discriminate and I think that’s a justifiable form of…

Kathie Lee Gifford Reminds Christians Where They Should Look for Love

Kathie Lee Gifford Reminds Christians Where They Should Look for Love

Veteran Television host, author and singer Kathie Lee Gifford recently talked with Billy Hallowell on The Billy Hallowell Podcast and shared an important message with Christians.

In the interview with Hallowell, Gifford recalled talking with Megyn Kelly after Evangelist Billy Graham died. She recalled that Kelly had asked her how she could be so bold in her faith in the entertainment industry, to which Gifford replied, “If I had the cure for cancer, I knew what it was — would I ever withhold it from anybody, much less somebody who’s suffering from cancer? Never!”

She continued, “I feel like I have the cure for the malignancy of the soul and he has a name — and it’s Jesus and I have to share when I’m given a chance because I don’t want people to not know the freedom they can have in Him.”

The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hodahost also talked about what it looks like for faith to be present in every moment of her life.

Gifford says, “The bible says to pray unceasingly.”

“How do we do that?” She asked.

“You make your life a prayer, that’s how. With every breath you breathe… its constant awareness of him,” she continued.

Gifford goes on to encourage Christian’s to look for love in all the right places saying that our relationship with the living God is meant to permeate every aspect of our lives.

Gifford…

7 killed as gunmen attack Christian pilgrim buses in Egypt

Church spokesman Bouls Halim said the death toll is likely to rise. Local church officials in Minya province put the death toll at 10, but the higher figure could not be confirmed.

No group immediately claimed the attack south of the capital Cairo, which bore the hallmarks of Islamic State militants who have for years been fighting security forces in the Sinai peninsula and along Egypt’s porous desert border with Libya.

Archbishop Angaelos, the Coptic Archbishop of London, told Premier: “We pray for the those who continue to plan and perpetrate these attacks because it’s only in them seeing the true effects of what they’re doing and looking at those who are mourning – that will change their minds.”

It is the second attack on pilgrims heading to the St Samuel the Confessor monastery in as many years. The previous attack in May last year left nearly 30 people dead.

The Interior Ministry, which oversees the police, said the attackers used secondary dirt roads to reach the bus carrying the pilgrims, who were near the monastery at the time of the assault.

The attack last year was the latest in a deadly…

Outbreak of Violence against Christians in Assam, India Sparks Concern

Outbreak of Violence against Christians in Assam, India Sparks Concern

NEW DELHI, November 2, 2018 (Morning Star News) – Three acts of aggression against Christians in Assam state, India in one month have raised concerns among Christian leaders.

“We have seen sporadic incidents happen in Assam in the past – but three incidents of violence within a month against the Christian community has built a sense of insecurity among the Christians of Assam,” said Allen Brooks, spokesperson for the Assam Christian Forum and a member of the Assam State Commission for Minorities.

Brooks said the attacks in Assam, which borders Bhutan in northeastern India, were not random.

“A systematic pattern can be seen in these incidents,” he told Morning Star News. “Different denominations have been targeted within a month’s time. The three places are all key places.”

In Bongaigaon District, a radical Hindu mob on Oct. 2 assaulted three Christians in Dhaligaon village, an area previously free of persecution.

Although district authorities called the villagers’ assault “objectionable and communal,” the hard-line Hindus refused to yield to orders to commit in writing that they would stop attacking Mahindra Brahma and his family or keep them from their duties, sources said.

Brahma and his family, who became Christians 10 years ago, saw their house surrounded as villagers demanded that he return to his prior religion or leave the…

TV show prompts record number of calls to Christians Against Poverty

In total, 3,708 enquiries were made in October – a 41 per cent increase on the same period last year – with bosses linking the spike with the airing of ‘The Debt Saviours’ on BBC 2 on 5th October.

Key relationship manager, Steve Haines told Premier: “We had a record number of calls on the Monday following the documentary – and on the Tuesday; they were the highest days that we’ve ever had.”

CAP prepared for the surge in enquiries by appointing extra call handlers. A record number of appointments have also been made following the programme.

The show included research by the London School of Economics which found the debt charity, contributes £32 million to the UK economy.

Meanwhile, the organisation warned that 13 per cent of callers have to be referred to other debt agencies because there is not a church-run CAP Debt centre in their area.

Steve continued: “We’re looking for churches in those areas where we have no coverage who might want to partner with us.

Christians Against Poverty

“We’ve got about 40 per cent of the UK where we still need more debt centre coverage.”

Nearly 300 CAP Debt centres across the country help almost 19,000 people every year.

Gateway Church Pastor Warns Christians to Guard Their Minds from Attacks by the Enemy

Gateway Church Pastor Warns Christians to Guard Their Minds from Attacks by the Enemy

The senior pastor at the megachurch Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas says Satan attacks Christians first in the mind.

Pastor Jimmy Evans talked with The Christian Post about his new book I Changed My Mind: Journey Toward Spiritual Maturity, where he outlines ways Christians can faithfully overcome fears, worries and failures.

“Everything starts with the mind; In the Garden of Eden, when Satan first attacked humans, he did it with thoughts,” Evans told The Christian Post. “The same thing with Jesus; when the devil attacked Him in the desert, he attacked His thoughts.

“Christians are engaged in spiritual warfare, and the weapons of this warfare aren’t carnal. That’s why Romans 12 tells us to let God transform us into a new person by changing the way we think.”

He said the main defense against worried and fearful thoughts is the Word of God.

“The Word of God is inspired and infallible and quick and active; it’s alive and powerful. When we allow the Word of God to come into us as inspired by God and authoritative, it can go down to the cellular level in our lives and thinking to help set us free and put truth into us.

“Renewing your mind doesn’t mean a slight change, it means a total change, a drastic difference from the world’s type of thinking. The process of changing your mind means allowing the Word of God to have authority over our…

Thousands demand public hanging of Asia Bibi as judges who acquitted her face death threats

On Friday, 5,000 radical Islamists gathered in the capital Islamabad calling for the public execution of Asia Bibi – while almost 4,000 staged a sit-in in the eastern city of Lahore.

Demonstrators blocked major streets and set fire to dozens of vehicles in protest at the landmark decision by Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday that the mother-of-five should be freed.

Bibi was convicted in 2010 of blasphemy and sentenced to death after being accused of insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. She always denied any wrongdoing.

Other rallies were held in Peshawar – a city in northern Pakistan – and on a major road linking Islamabad with Rawalpindi, a city in Pubjab province. According to Associated Press, no violence has been reported.

Meanwhile, a lawyer representing a cleric in Punjab province who filed the initial blasphemy charges against Bibi, has petitioned Pakistan’s highest court to review its decision to acquit. Death threats have been made against the judges.

Judges are yet to determine when the petition will be heard. It is feared the release of Bibi – who is still being held at an undisclosed location – might be delayed by the process.

Reversing its ruling would be a rare move by the Supreme Court in Pakistan. Court reviews usually take years.

It remains uncertain…

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Speaks Out on Killing of Saudi Journalist

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Speaks Out on Killing of Saudi Journalist

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke out on Friday about the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s.

According to the Jerusalem Post, while speaking at a conference of Balkan states called the Craiova summit this week, Netanyahu said, “what happened in the Istanbul consulate was horrendous and it should be duly dealt with. Yet the same time I say it, it is very important for the stability of the world, for the region and for the world, that Saudi Arabia remain stable.”

Khashoggi disappeared on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. After pressure for an explanation from Saudi officials rose, officials eventually admitted that the journalist was killed.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Saudi officials tried to blame Khashoggi’s “savage” killing on rogue operatives, but Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is insisting that whoever ordered the hit “be brought to account.”

Netanyahu also commented on the situation in Iran.

According to the Jerusalem Post, news broke earlier this week confirming that Mossad had provided Denmark with pertinent information that derailed an Iranian plot to assassinate an Iranian separatist leader in the country. This led Denmark to call its ambassador back to the Scandinavian country from Iran and to introduce new sanctions against Tehran.

In June, Israel helped France uncover…
