Topic: Stand Strong Against the Adversary [Joyce Meyer Devotional 27 October 2018]

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. — Colossians 1:27

It is true that whenever you do anything for God, the adversary will oppose you. But you must remember that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (see 1 John 4:4).

You should not have to spend your life struggling against Satan in order to serve God. Instead of wearing yourself out trying to fight spiritual enemies, you should learn to stand strong in the authority given to you by Jesus.

The best way to overcome Satan and his demons is simply to stay in God’s will by obeying His Word and God will work things out according to His divine plan and purpose.

Prayer Starter: Thank You, Lord, that You’re greater than the enemy. As I trust You and obey Your Word, I know that You will fight my battles. Help me to stand strong during difficult times, knowing You are always with me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Topic: Sacrifice

It is the sacrifice you make today that will determine where you will be tomorrow. You must invest into your future. There cannot be a rise without a price.

2 Samuel 24:24 (KJV) And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

Even God had to sacrifice Jesus in order to get you and me as children.

Romans 3:25 (NIV) God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.

Sacrifice is giving up a pleasure to get a treasure. If you do not give up the pleasure to gain the required treasure, you will soon come under pressure. Every man that must be the best must make sacrifice based on where he wants to be and what he wants in life. Many people want to be the best but are not ready to make any sacrifice.

Until you forego something, you will never go up. There are certain pleasures you have to let go now to gain the treasures of tomorrow. Be willing to sacrifice and not to compromise. In the race of life, only those that are willing to pay the price, get the prize.

Philippians 3:8, 14 (KJV) 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Sacrifice is the greatest secret of great men. No man can be the best without sacrifice. There is time for sacrifice and time for enjoyment. Sacrifice is not for once but should be a lifestyle. Sacrifice continually and consistently.

Romans 12:1 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

If you want to be the best, learn to live a sacrificial life!

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 20-22, 2 Timothy 1

MESSAGE:

Elijah descended from Mount Carmel where he had called down fire and rain, and by the power of God, went ahead of the King’s horse driven chariot. Then he heard that Queen Jezebel was out to kill him and he ran. He ran until his feet could carry him no more. Tired and exhausted from his flight, he told God to take his life. While sleeping under a Juniper tree, he slept off from his exhaustion. An angel came to wake him up with a command to eat and drink. He ate, drank and slept again. Later the angel came back, woke him up and set food yet before him again. He took the meal and was revived. His hope arose and he embarked on a journey of 40 days and nights until he encountered the Almighty God on Mount Horeb (1 Kings 19:4-8)

This story is interesting because we can learn several things from it. The higher you go in the faith, the bigger your temptations and trials. Another thing to learn here is that when in the midst of intense opposition as a child of God, it is sometimes a wise thing to retreat temporarily in order to re-attack the kingdom of Satan. Ask for God’s wisdom at all times. It is essential.

Prayer Point: Father, grant me the grace to rest when I should and to fight at the right time

Topic: The Love of God Never Fails [TREM Devotional 27 October 2018]

“Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away”. – 1 Corinthians 13:8 (NIV)

The Bible tells us that love never fails. Indeed it does not because God is love and God does not have any margin for failure. 1 John 3:1 says, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us that we should be called sons of God. The manner of love is that the Father can look at us and say I love these ones. Stop looking at yourself from the natural standpoint. Your body is just your external case; it is the man on the inside that determines what the body does. Because when you walk in the love of God, you will be filled with the fullness of God.

That’s what Paul was praying for the church in Ephesus. In Ephesians 3:16, “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by His spirit in the inner man”. Then in verse 19, “And to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.” The love of God passes knowledge. No human being can understand it. That God can partner with mortal man! What a love! God loves me. I am excited because God loves me. That means I must succeed!

Don’t abort your destiny out of ignorance. You are too loaded to fail. You will make it in life. Lines are falling unto you in pleasant places. You have a godly heritage. Your heritage is a heritage of success. You can’t fail. Live your life as somebody who cannot be defeated by circumstances. When you arrive, circumstances bow before you because of what you carry. You are heavily loaded and wired to succeed. You are ‘unkillable’. Don’t let the society determine for you. We are the ones to determine what happens. Go out there and succeed!

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Psalm 23:1-6

MEMORY VERSE: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” – Acts 10:38

The MESSAGE:

The Olive tree symbolises peace and the olive oil comes from the olive tree. As a symbol of peace, it has the capacity to receive the power of God. David was anointed three times and was recommended to the palace. After the anointing, he became a different person. He became famous and powerful. Also, Joshua who took the mantle of anointing from Moses did exploits. He overcame many nations, destroyed many kingdoms and regained the Promised Land from the inhabitants for the children of Israel. He commanded the sun and the moon to stand still until he got his victory. One can only make such exploits if one is anointed. You will be transformed, when you are anointed.

Anointing is the instrument of signs and wonders that attracts favour and sets one apart as untouchable. It promotes you to the level of pursuing your pursuers. It is the anointing that recommends you for success. Your cup will run over by reason of the anointing and you will possess your possessions. Kings will send for you, and you will be at ease. Beloved, you need to be anointed. The power in the anointed oil is heavy and awesome. Therefore, you need to cultivate the habit of using the anointed oil to anoint your home and yourself on a daily basis before you step out of your house. When the devil sees it on you, he will run away. He knows he has no right or power to touch the anointed. Anoint your children before they go to school and anoint your business centre periodically.

A man ran to us sometimes ago to complain that he got to his poultry farm one morning and discovered drops of blood around his big farm. The enemy had obviously done this. To neutralise it, he had to use drops of anointed oil on each drop of blood. Within few weeks, the evil agenda backfired and the evil doer died mysteriously. Always have the anointed oil with you. Arise today and anoint all around you and yourself before you pray these prayers.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
WHEN THE POWER FROM ABOVE COMES UPON YOU, YOU NEED NOT SHOUT ABOUT IT, IT WILL ADVERTISE ITSELF.

PROPHETIC WORD:
The anointing of ease shall come upon you today, and you shall become a ‘touch not’.

MORNING
1. Father, I thank You, for the anointing that breaks all yokes, in the name of Jesus.
2. As I anoint myself today, anointing that destroys evil load, fall upon my life, in Jesus’ name.

EVENING
4. Anointing to be a great warrior against the kingdom of darkness, come upon me tonight, in Jesus’ name.
5. Tonight, I am anointed for favour, victory and success, in Jesus’ name.
6. As I anoint myself tonight, I turn against my pursuers and I pursue them unto their death, in Jesus’ name.
7. By the reason of the anointing, every yoke and bondage that came into my life through dreams, break, in Jesus’ name.

Text: 1 Peter 4:12-19 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you“ (1 Peter 4:12).

MESSAGE:

Christians are counselled on how to comport themselves whenever they are tried for their precious faith. Believers’ relationship with Christ will definitely make them to suffer the hatred, opposition, reproaches and sufferings of Christ, just as they will partake in His glory, if they endure to the end.

The text for today encourages believers to be glad and joyful whenever they suffer for Christ’s sake, as this brings a clear assurance that they are the children of God. Persecutions should therefore be borne by Christians with patience, fortitude and full dependence on the promises of God and support of the Holy Spirit. That a Christian is facing persecution does not mean he or she has committed a sin.

Believers are therefore forewarned not to allow their persecution to be on account of their sins or violation of constitutional laws. If so-called believers fail to make heaven because of their inability to endure sufferings brought upon them by their persecuting neighbours, how much more will it be for the enemies of God, the sinners in hell forever. If sufferings brought upon believers by the persecutors as trials and tribulations are not easy to be borne, how awful will the day of judgment be for the sinners who outrightly reject God’s plan for their salvation?

In other words, if the way of the righteous is so hard, how terrible then will be the end of the ungodly and unrepentant sinners, who operate in sin with joy and think the believers are fools for patiently bearing their pains and for sometimes facing reproachful and shameful death without a just cause. This is the needful caution for sinners to repent of their sins before it is too late.

Thought For The Day: Christians’ persecutions are light pains that bring large gains.
