FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 14:28-33

MEMORY VERSE: “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” – Matthew 6:30

The MESSAGE:

When we talk about divine rescue, we have two key words that are very important to this message. Firstly, what do we mean by divine? Divine means something related to God. It can also mean something that is beyond human imagination or understanding. Something supernatural, beyond scientific or philosophical proof. Examples of this are the feeding of the five thousand men by Jesus Christ and the parting of the Red Sea by Moses. Also, we have the word ‘rescue’. Rescue is to save from violence, danger and evil. It means to be delivered from a dangerous and unpleasant situation. So, when we say Divine Rescue, we mean the ability of God to deliver a believer from evil or an unpleasant situation. I pray that God will deliver you from every unpleasant situation, in Jesus’ name.

God in His infinite wisdom created every one of us with special potential and abilities that we need to fulfil our destinies. No man is born without the potential to fulfil his purpose on earth. Unfortunately, due to the works of the enemy or self-destructive behaviour of some people, many are caged and cannot manifest their potential. Some even manifest the potential but they do not fully manifest it because of the devices of the devil. I pray for you today that the Holy Spirit will empower you to fully manifest your potential, in Jesus’ name.

When you notice this, there is an urgent need for divine rescue (to be aided and set free or to be delivered by the power of God). Are you still labouring under the yoke of sin? Do you desire truth in your inward parts? Do you see yourself helplessly deep in the pit of iniquity? The power of God is available to pull you out. Divine rescue is a special mission from heaven to deliver the lawful captive from the shackles of wickedness. No matter how terrible the situation and the judgement that is passed by satan upon your life, God can rescue His children miraculously. What you only need do is to build your most holy faith. Have faith in God. Do not doubt God. When your faith grows to the extent that will activate God’s rescue, your miracle will manifest. In Matthew 14:31, Jesus said to Peter, “O thou of little faith.” Peter was sinking because his faith was little. We need absolute faith in God to transform and activate our potential. Divine rescue will locate you today in every area of your life, in Jesus’ name.

Welcome to the last teaching for the month! I hope you were blessed by the teaching of last week. Today, we shall focus on: Unveiling the Triggers for Success!

From scriptures, we discover that God has made a master plan of success for us in all aspects of life (Joshua1:8). That is, it is His divine will for us to be successful in life. He is interested in the ultimate realisation of our success. However, it is sad that most Christians have not come to the knowledge of this truth. They see themselves as never-do-well and good-for nothing. They therefore yield to the oppressive lies of the devil and the world that they should not and cannot make it here on earth. Therefore, it is important to know that success is not a gift but a choice. While it is the birthright of all saints, the individual’s choice determines his/her portion. So, our choice to succeed generates in us the force to succeed.

However, success cannot be achieved in isolation. There are triggers which will land us right into it.

What then, are the Triggers for Success?

Opportunity: There are two closely related words –opportune and fortune. The dictionary defines ‘opportune’ to mean happening at the time that is most convenient for someone or most likely to lead to success. ‘Fortune’ or ‘good fortune’ is defined as good luck, success or good experiences. Therefore, I define a fortunate person as an ‘oppor-tunate’ person. That is, he is smart enough to grab a productive idea and put it to work; he is smart enough to know what will work and how to make it work. As it is written: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7, see also 20:6). Opportunity therefore is a discovered avenue for profiting. It is locating what will work and making it to work. Many people miss opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and it looks like work. There are ways of locating and utilising opportunities.

– By a search.

– By creating opportunities.

– By catching opportunities.

– By utilising opportunities.

Creativity: This is the ability to create. Every event in life is invented. God is the Master Creator. Solomon said: The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew (Proverbs 3:19-20; see also Psalm 104:24). God’s creative secret is in His wisdom. That is, inside the Word of God is God’s creative ability and this is loaded in a person called Christ. Therefore, as joint-heirs with Christ, it means that we share in His nature. If He carries creative abilities, it also means that we too carry creative abilities. The Bible says: For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). This connotes that we have the creative mind of Christ.

Ability: It is from the root word ‘able.’ The ability to do something is the quality or skill that we have which makes it possible for us to do it. We need the trigger of ability to succeed because as long as we see ourselves as being unable to succeed, we will never have the ability to. In numbers 13, twelve people were sent out on a mission to spy out Canaan. Ten of them came back with a report of Israel’s inability to possess the land. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight (Numbers 13:31-33). But Joshua and Caleb saw it differently. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it (Numbers 13:30). They saw their ability to possess the land and they actually did, while the men who brought the evil report all died in the wilderness. Success has eluded many today because they see it as an impossible feat that cannot be attained. If we can’t see our ability to do a job or to succeed, we will never be able to succeed.

Responsibility: Another word for responsibility is self discipline. That is, bringing ourselves under rules and laws in order to attain our ultimate goals in life. Responsibility requires that one positively responds to the demands of life or scriptures. To be outstandingly successful, we must positively apply ourselves to certain demands of life and Scriptures. The Bible says: For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me (1 Corinthians 9:16-17). Necessity was laid upon Paul to preach the gospel, not by God, but by himself. Why? He wanted to be a successful preacher and soul winner.

In conclusion, we can never be in control of the affairs of life without self-control. It is what puts us in charge. So, if we are striving for mastery (success), then we must exercise self control. There is no greatness without responsibility; so let’s be responsible. Thus, in order to fully utilise the triggers for success, you must be born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Dear Reader,

It is with great delight that I welcome you to this week’s edition of family matters. Last week, I expounded on effective communication, among other things, as one major key to understanding your spouse.

Today, I will be discussing on: The Art of Communication. That is communication made easy. Having understood the place of effective communication in understanding your spouse, it becomes necessary for me to examine extensively how effective communication can enhance your relationship with your spouse, thereby bringing total understanding between both of you.

Effective communication among spouses, involves more than passing across a feeling, thought, message or desire. It goes beyond how a thing is said, when it is said and where it is said. In marriage, the word “communication” is broken down to “communion” which means “sharing of thoughts and feelings.” Breaking this further, it gives us “commune” which literally means to speak together as close friends. Until you successfully pass a message, a thought or a feeling across to someone else, you cannot be said to have communicated effectively.

It is with this notion that I will like to discuss with you, certain factors that make for true communication in order to help you understand your spouse.

Trust: Trust is the number one component in communication because it always keeps the communication lines open. You cannot effectively disclose your innermost dreams, thoughts and desires to someone you don’t trust. As a spouse, you must maintain an attitude of openness. You must not hide anything from your spouse no matter how minute. The Word of God says in Genesis 2:25, And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Even if it is something that happened in the past that you know has to do with building trust, make sure you do not hide it from your spouse. Many marriages and homes are in disarray today as a result of some hidden matters not disclosed before marriage that became revealed after marriage. Some individuals in marriage are even being blackmailed by such hidden matters today. If you are in that category, receive grace now to tell your spouse the truth in Jesus’ name. There is nothing that cannot be forgiven.

Trusting your spouse means having full confidence, faith and assurance that what you have told him or her will remain confidential. As a couple, you must work at being trustworthy because trust is the solid foundation, upon which effective communication is built; don’t destroy it.

Openness: it is written in Isaiah 58:7, … hide not thyself from thine own flesh. When two become one in holy wedlock, nothing should be kept secret. The Bible says in Ephesians 5:28, He that loveth his wife loveth himself. No one keeps a secret from himself, therefore, both of you must be open to each other in sincerity.

Openness breeds trust and trust is the foundation for effective communication. Don’t speak in parables to your spouse else he or she will not understand you. Be truthful in your communication. I have discovered that when a wound is covered, it tends to fester and worsen, but when it is opened, healing comes. Openness is not only for women; men also need to learn openness in the art of communicating with their wives. Understanding your spouse is not possible without being open to him or her.

Issues related to finances and sexuality are often difficult ones for spouses to effectively communicate about. This is due, partly to beliefs such as “You are supposed to know about that” and “Adults should be able to take care of money matters,” as well as “You should be able to handle all your own problems without seeking help.” I want to let you know that these are the issues that you should pay proper attention to and be open about, when discussing with your spouse. This will enhance your communication and bring about intimacy and understanding.

You need the Spirit of truth to be open to your spouse. This is available as you become born again by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. To be born again, say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Your proper positioning in God’s master plan is vital in determining your levels of breakthrough. This means that where you are positioned determines the outcome of your life. You must therefore be covenantly positioned to command supernatural breakthroughs in life. Your breakthrough in life will demand the following:

Believe God’s word:  Gen.1:3 -And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
God’s word is creative; when God speaks. He creates. In Genesis 1, God created everything by His spoken words. Every time God tells you something, believe it because His word has the power to bring it into existence. If you want supernatural breakthrough, never doubt the word of God; your duty is just to believe because God speaks according to His size.

Believe God’s true messenger: 2 Chron.20:20b -…Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Your prosperity is tied to believing the prophet God has sent to you. If God has sent you a prophet, then believe when he speaks to you. God speaks through prophets to make you have profit. There is no point following a man of God you don’t believe because his words will not profit you.

Do something about your situation: 2 Kings 7:3-4 – And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
Stop watching what you don’t want. You cannot fold your arms and expect God to act. Rise up and face that challenge with God’s word. If your health is deteriorating, face it with God’s word. Face that ugly situation with God’s word! Get up and do something! Until you make a move, you cannot be a mover on earth. You should not sit down in one place and be analyzing situation, take a step!

Be a proclaimer of the Gospel:
John 4:28-30 – The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? 30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
To enjoy supernatural breakthrough, share your testimonies with unbelievers to bring them to Christ. When the lepers came with the good news in 7 Kings 7, nobody remembered their conditions anymore. Success has a way of making people remember where you are coming from. Success covers errors and defines new level.

Be a generous giver:
2 Kings 7: 8-9 – And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it. 9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

Learn to give to God’s kingdom and bless humanity. Giving is living. In life, don’t always want to eat alone. Always learn to be a blessing to others. Every time you are blessed, bless people too if you must enjoy supernatural breakthrough. The lepers in 2 Kings 7 did not take all the blessings, they invited others to join them.

Pay your tithe faithfully, give quality offering and bless humanity as well. As you do these and more, supernatural breakthrough will be your portion in Jesus name –Amen!

Topic: Praise; a Key to Supernatural Supplies [Seeds of Destiny 30 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us…. Psalm 67:5-7

Thought For The Day: The earth cannot withhold the supplies of a praiser.

Our anchor Scripture establishes a clear connection between praise and supernatural supplies. Praise provokes the release of the blessing of God on the life of the praiser. Wherever what is yours is, praise reveals and releases it to you by putting the earth under pressure and retains it for you. The earth cannot withhold the supplies of the one who praises God. So, to praise God is to be blessed.

Now, let us see how praise puts the earth under pressure for the release of supernatural supplies.

Psalm 67:5, 6 says,… let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield…

The earth here refers to three things:
a. The People of the Earth.
If you know how to praise God, no human being can keep what is yours in their possession. Your praise would make your boss in the office lose his/her sleep until he/she releases your due promotion.

b. Governments, Organisations or Institutions.
The Persian Empire was put under pressure because of Mordecai (Esther 6:1-11). When you know God and know how to praise Him, there is no system or government that can hold back what is yours.

c. The Enemy, Satan the Devil and his Agents.
No witchcraft coven, occultic shrine or marine warehouse can withhold the consignment of a praiser.

Beloved, I declare that today, individuals, governments, systems and agents of the devil shall release to you by force, whatever belongs to you in their possession, in Jesus’ Name.
Remember this: The earth cannot withhold the supplies of a praiser.
