DCLM Daily Manna 1 October 2018 – Discharged And Acquitted

Topic: Discharged and Acquitted [DCLM Daily Manna 1 October 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: Romans 3:9-24 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).

MESSAGE:

A young man once presented himself for water baptism; he was asked whether he had found the Saviour. His reply was: “I didn’t find Him; He found me.” What a quintessence of our justification and redemption through our Lord, Jesus Christ. As lost sheep, we wandered away from Him into sin but He patiently, perseveringly and lovingly sought for and found us out of our lost condition. What great love He has bestowed upon us!

We were like criminals brought before the almighty Judge and vehemently accused by Satan, the accuser of the brethren and our prosecutor who will have us condemned for all eternity. But the Judge, in His graciousness, used His royal prerogative to discharge and acquit us. In doing this, all our records of offences are wiped out from the books thereby making us appear as people who have never sinned. That is the justification we received through atonement by the blood of Jesus Christ. The spotless Son of God paid for our ransom, freedom and redemption.

Without this justification in Christ, we would have been eternally doomed to the everlasting lake of fire. But having been discharged and acquitted, we should appreciate the blessed experience of salvation by living to please Christ at all times and in all circumstances of life.

If you are yet to taste of the great benefit of redemption, you should do so now by turning to Jesus for pardon and cleansing from all sin. The beauty of it all is that Christ’s redemptive work is full, final and free. And you can appropriate it and enjoy it from this moment till death or the coming of our Lord to take us to heaven. Since everyone who asks receives, acknowledge your sinfulness and pray with faith in Christ who bore the punishment for your sins now. Ask for remission of sin by His blood and justification by grace, and you will receive.

Thought For The Day: It is Christ’s blood, not works, that Justifies.

Andrew Wommack 1 October 2018 Daily Devotional – Guard Against Deception

Topic: Guard Against Deception [Andrew Wommack 1 October 2018 Daily Devotional]

Matthew 24:4 “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”

Text: Matthew 24:3-5

Deception can be avoided or else Jesus would not have said, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” Satan can only deceive those who allow him to do it.

Ephesians 6:11 tells us to “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Putting on the whole armour of God will protect you from the deception of the devil. Just wearing part of God’s armour will not fully protect you. Many Christians have been running around with the helmet of salvation on but nothing else. There is more to overcoming the devil than just being saved. We have to understand our righteous position in the Lord. We also must possess faith, know the Word, and understand the gospel of peace.

The Christian life is a constant struggle against Satan, who is trying to corrupt us. Most Christians are aware of the warfare, but they don’t know where the warfare is occurring. The battle is in our mind. Just as the serpent didn’t come against Eve with brute force, but rather used words to deceive her, likewise Satan tries to corrupt us through thoughts contrary to the gospel. Satan’s original tactic was deception and that is still his method of operation today.

One of the characteristics of children is that they are easily deceived. They are gullible. One of the things that must take place to move from childhood into sonship is spiritual discernment. This comes from being grounded in the Word of God.

The way to recognize deception is not to analyze all the false claims but rather to become so familiar with what is genuine that a counterfeit will be easily recognizable. Anyone who is truly grounded in the Word of God will not be deceived.

NewSpring Named ‘Jesus Christ’ as Senior Pastor After Perry Noble Left, Church Was $47M in Debt

(Photo: Facebook/NewSpring Church)NewSpring Church’s three-member teaching pastor team (from L-R): Dan Lian, Brad Cooper and Clayton King.

Two years after NewSpring Church in South Carolina lost their founding and senior pastor Perry Noble to alcohol abuse and other “unfortunate choices and decisions,” Jesus Christ is now listed as senior pastor over a new team-led church model in amended bylaws.

Teaching Pastor Clayton King says the new approach to leadership has made the megachurch healthier.

King, who was appointed interim senior pastor for a year at NewSpring shortly after Perry’s exit, also revealed in a recent Essential Church podcast that the church was $47 million in debt when Noble left. Since then the church has managed to cut that debt down to $36 million in less than two years.

“We are a true team approach to ministry now. I was senior pastor for one year but now our church has one senior pastor and we’ve literally in our new bylaws named Jesus Christ as our senior pastor. So we are structured differently now. It’s a true team approach and let me tell you, I love it,” King revealed.

The church is currently run by a team of four lead pastors, three teaching pastors including King, as well as 14 campus pastors.

When asked to explained how Jesus as senior…

Billy Graham 1 October 2018 — Our Defeated Foe

Topic: Our Defeated Foe [Billy Graham Daily Devotional 1 October 2018]

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword . . . — Hebrews 4:12

How do we overcome the devil in everyday life? First, we need to recognize that the devil is a defeated foe. The Son of God came to undo the work of the devil. The crucifixion of Christ, which looked like a mighty victory for Satan, turned out to be a great triumph for God, because it was on the cross that Jesus took your sins and my sins. God laid our sins on Christ, so that when our Lord bowed His head and said, “It is finished,” He was referring to the plan of redemption and salvation. Then . . . we are to resist the devil. If we resist him, Scripture says, he will flee from us. Jesus overcame the devil not by argument but simply by quoting Scripture. That is why it is so important to learn and memorize Scripture passages.

Prayer for the day: Thank You, heavenly Father, for the protection of Your Word as I face everyday temptations.

Make Gospel Central in Home to Keep Kids From Porn, John Piper Says

(Screengrab via Vimeo/DesiringGod.org)Theologian, John Piper.

To raise children to resist porn-saturated digital culture, the Gospel must be a constant theme of conversation between parents and children, John Piper says.

In response to a question from a concerned mother Friday about how she and her husband can raise her sons to not fall into the various kinds of lust that so many godly men have, the Reformed theologian offered several pieces of advice.

“Seek to be utterly authentic in your own love for Christ, your own joy in him, and your own delight in his ways. You can’t force upon a child satisfaction in God when it does not look as if he’s satisfying Mom and Dad,” Piper said, noting that the goal is not conformity to rules but “inward love for God and his way.”

“Saturate your family with Scripture. Talk about it morning, noon, and night,” he continued. “Talk of it when you get up, when you go to meals, when you’re riding in the car. Talk of the word of God, and seek to help your children understand it. Treat the Bible as the absolute authority in your life. Pray that the children will grow up believing that this book is the highest authority in the universe under God.”

To further bolster their faith to stand against all kinds of sin, Piper recommended making the…

Open Heavens 1 October 2018 – Watch your Nutrition

Open Heavens 1 October 2018 Monday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Watch your Nutrition

Topic: Watch your Nutrition (Open Heavens 1 October 2018)

Memorise: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”Colossians 2:8

Read: 2 Peter 2:1-3 (KJV)

1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 24-27, Mark 15:33-16:8

Open Heavens 1 October 2018 Monday MESSAGE:

As Christians living in these end times, we have to be very careful of the source and nature of what we allow into our minds. In today’s Bible reading, the Holy Spirit warns us to be wary of false prophets that will arise from among the people, secretly building up destructive heresies with the aim of taking people’s focus away from Christ. Many of the sermons preached in today’s church are focused on prosperity, faith, grace, deliverance and so on. I have no problem with these topics; they are essential parts of the Good News. However, many preachers discuss them to such extent that the resultant effect is a bunch of malnourished souls in the church today. These preachers are out to satisfy their own motives, and so they twist scriptures to fit their own message to look good in the sight of people and to get gifts from them. The Holy Spirit spoke about such preachers in Romans 16:18, saying:

“For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”

As a Heaven bound child of God, your spiritual nutrition is of utmost importance. If you are not well nourished spiritually in your local assembly, or you notice that your spiritual growth is stunted, then it is time for you to leave that assembly and prayerfully look for another place where your spiritual needs will be met. You must avoid churches where the lifestyle of Christ is not preached. Steer clear of churches where the death and resurrection of Jesus are never preached. Shun sermons that encourage tribalism, and be careful of churches that glorify any individual or individuals other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. The early apostles preached nothing but Jesus Christ. Paul himself said in 1 Corinthians 2:2:

“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

Run away from preachers whose sermons leave you comfortable in your sins. Holy living must be emphasized in whatever church you prayerfully decide to join, and the Bible must be upheld as the foundation of the church’s doctrines. The Holy Spirit must be the one who leads and that God is present there. If you are presently under the influence of a destructive preacher, I pray for you today that the Lord will redeem you and connect you with a Spirit-led preacher in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens 1 October 2018 Monday Action Point:

Take a look at your present church. If spiritual growth has not increased significantly since you joined them, prayerfully look for another church where your spiritual needs will be met.

Open Heavens 1 October 2018 Monday Hymn 15: Nearer My God To Thee

1. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness comes over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

3. There let me see the sight, an open Heaven;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

Israel Houghton alludes to backlash over his second marriage in new music video

Filmed at their home in Beverley Hill in California, ‘Secrets’ depicts the couple meeting at a masquerade ball before being shunned by scornful, masked guests.

The track, which features on Israel Houghton’s new ‘Road To DeMaskUs’ album, also appears to highlight the comfort he took from “getting past that mask” and being real with God about his failings.

Speaking on the US daytime talk host, ‘The Real’, he said: “I understand what it means to have peace that surpasses understanding.

“When you are willing to take your mask off and lose everything, I was willing to lose everything because I had platforms, I had accolades, all the things people are after, but I had no peace.”

“The mask, for most of us, feels like it’s protective but really it’s suffocating. So, instead of a platform, I found peace for the first time in my life, you can’t beat that.”

The Grammy Award-winning musician announced in February 2016 that he and his first wife, Meleasa Houghton, had officially divorced. They were married for more than 20 years.

The announcement accompanied an admission by Israel that he had “failed and sinned” in his marriage “several years ago”.

Within weeks of revealing his divorce, Israel and Adrienne were photographed on holiday together in Mexico.

In March 2016, Israel Houghton hit out at the “gossip and salacious, untrue speculative stories” that Adrienne had played a…

Christian, Muslim, & Jewish Parents Unite Against Canada’s Public School Sex-Ed Curriculum – Urban Christian News

A group of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish parents in Canada are uniting in support of faith-based schools and against sex-ed curriculums in public schools that they say go too far.

The Globe and Mail reports that three such families, all from different religions, say they prefer their children to attend faith-based schools.

Christian parents Jordan and Amy Van de Kemp explained why they are sending their four children, aged 4 to 11, to Stratford and District Christian School.

“Our [Christian Reformed] church supported it and there were a lot of kids that [eldest son] Micah already knew would be going to this school,” Jordan Van de Kemp said.

The school will offer its 140 students 20 minutes of prayer at the start of each day. It will mostly follow the provincial curriculum, but will have Bible-infused teaching of evolution and sex-ed, with the latter delayed to senior elementary grades.

“We feel strongly as parents that we need to train our kids to be able to stand up and handle the world we live in,” Amy Van de Kemp said.

The parents said that their decision is based on making sure that the moral values their children are taught at home are also echoed at school.

“We don’t feel like they come home and we have to deprogram them,” the mother added, referring to the perceived negative influences of public education.

Back in July, parents concerned with the recently updated sex-ed school curriculum saw victory in their quest to force Ontario to revert back to the pre-2015 curriculum.

Some parents complained that liberal views on same-sex marriage, masturbation, and…

Brutal attack on Christian family caught on camera

The film shows 72 year old Bashir Masih, his 68 year old wife Grace Bibi and their family fleeing as smoke billowed from their house in Punjab province, north-eastern Pakistan.

Speaking with World Watch Monitor, a Christian organisation which reports on religious persecution, Mr Masih said: “In order to save ourselves, we ran out of the house and from far away looked back to see fire and smoke rising high.”

The incident on 20th September appears to have stemmed from a report Mr Masih made to police after he was beaten by Muslim men who ordered that he not be seen in public. Mr Masih’s family had been the only Christian household living in Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi district.

One day after Mr Masih reported the assault, more than a dozen men – armed with guns, sticks and flaming torches – targeted the house, on which Mr Masih and his wife had spent their retirement savings to build. They have been told they will be killed if they try to return.

Before torching the property, the mob beat each of the family members, leaving one of Mr Masih’s sons unconscious. Money and gold ornaments were stolen.

Church-goers send West Sussex priest on dream Spitfire flight

Fr Chris Ingle, the Parish Priest of St Michael’s in the High Salvington area of Worthing enjoyed a “flight of a lifetime” on-board a Spitfire to celebrate a “big birthday.”

He said: “It was a moving experience to fly in such a graceful and historic aircraft.”

Parishioners felt prompted to organise a collection for Fr Chris two years ago.

Once airborne, Fr Chris was able to assume controls of the aircraft and take advantage of the bright weather as he soared above Biggin Hill Aerodrome in Bromley.

He was once a fast jet pilot with the Royal Air Force.

Referring to the aerobatic manoeuvre, Fr Chris added: “Completing a couple of victory rolls was the icing on the cake!”

He was accompanied in the two-seater plane with a qualified instructor.

Fr Chris flew a MK IX Spitfire, a machine built at Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands. It entered service in September 1944, twelve months before the conclusion of World War Two.

His friends hired an observational aircraft to fly in formation with the Spitfire and to capture the remarkable journey on video.
