New York Giant Odell Beckham, Jr. Shares His Gratitude for Christ

New York Giant Odell Beckham, Jr. Shares His Gratitude for Christ

On Sunday, New York Football Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. fell to his knees in prayer at MetLife Stadium before millions of fans.

Beckham recently took to Instagram to share with his 11.5 million followers that he dedicated his life to Jesus. In July, Beckham was on a trip to Israel when he decided to be baptized. The wide receiver shared a photo of the experience captioning it, “FRESH START…What a time ! #Jerusalem #ImForgiven”

Since then Beckham has posted several photos with captions voicing his love and gratitude for God.

While in Israel Beckham posted a photo of him riding on a camel captioning it, “couldn’t of asked for anything more!!!! God I can’t thank u enough for this one. My journey is just beginning…”

In August he posted a photo of him seemingly signing a contract for the New York Giants captioned, “God, I can’t even put into words my gratitude. This is only the beginning… #ImThankful”

This weekend, Beckham played in his first game since breaking his ankle in October and the player decided to capture the moment with a series of Instagram posts. Instead of posting a photo of himself while playing, Beckham took the opportunity to give glory to God. The wide receiver posted a photo of himself on his knees praying and captioned it, “Lord, I come to you at this time… not to ask you for anything… but just…

8 Killed, Thousands Flee in Boko Haram Attack on Nigerian Town – Urban Christian News

Islamic terror group Boko Haram has risen again, killing several people and forcing thousands to flee the Nigerian town of Gudumbali.

The AFP has reported that the attack on the town in northeast Nigeria on Saturday ended with at least eight civilians dead and thousands of others fleeing to neighboring towns.

The capture of Gudumbali, in the Guzamala area of Borno state, is believed to be the terror group’s first major victory in two years of reported losses at the hands of army troops.

Yan St-Pierre, head of the Modern Security Consulting Group, said that the terror group’s attack of Gudumbali shows its increasing capabilities and strength.

“They’ve been able in recent months to attack larger, more important targets with increasing frequency and success,” the counter-terrorism specialist said.

“It is likely to get worse because ISWAP is not only adapting to changing circumstances but benefiting from the changing dynamics in the Sahel as well,” he added, using an alternative name for the group.

Boko Haram’s insurgency has been going on since 2009, with government buildings, churches, and entire towns and villages bombed.

Christians, Muslims, and other civilians have been slaughtered, with the terror group gaining infamy for its kidnapping of schoolgirls and use of children as suicide bombers in Nigeria and neighboring countries.

Open Heavens 14 September 2018 – Before the Wine Runs Out

Open Heavens 14 September 2018 Friday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Before the Wine Runs Out

Topic: Before the Wine Runs Out

Memorise: “And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.”John 2:3

Read: Proverbs 1:24-33 (KJV)

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Bible in One Year: Proverbs 16-19, Mark 7:24-8:10

Open Heavens 14 September 2018 Friday MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, God, personified as Wisdom, bemoans men’s carefree attitude to His warnings against the day of calamity. God Himself is calling out to mankind like He called unto Adam when he hid himself in the Garden of Eden. Adam seems to be wiser than many inhabitants of the world today, because he came out of his hiding place so that God could cover his nakedness (Genesis 3:21). God’s message to the world today says “I have waited enough: I have been stretching out my hands of love towards you and you have refused to come.” If this message applies to you, please respond to His call; any further delay is dangerous. The danger in delaying is declared in Proverbs 1:26 & 28:

“26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:”

It is a wise thing to have God as your Ally before the day of calamity or overwhelming challenge. For those who do not know God or who have strayed from His way, the day of greatest calamity is the day death comes calling. Why? The day of death is a day of reckoning, when all deeds are brought to judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

The story of the marriage in Cana of Galilee, from where today’s memory verse is taken, teaches a couple of relevant lessons on having God as your Ally before the day of calamity comes (John 2:9-10). Firstly, Jesus Christ was invited to the wedding ceremony, ahead of the moment of shame that arose due to insufficient preparation. Shame was averted that day because the Present Help in time of need was involved. Secondly, Jesus’ mother counselled them to do whatever the Miracle Worker asked them to do; they obeyed this and got the miracle of provision. Thirdly, wine symbolises merriment and joyous events. The presence of wine in a place signals celebration. The truth is that there will always be a time when the wine of your life would run out and you would be confronted by your inadequacies as a mortal being. It will be too bad for you not to have Jesus in your life before that day. Why? His presence guarantees supplies that are far better than what the world can provide, as testified to by the master of ceremony at the marriage in Cana of Galilee (John 2:9-10). Beloved, I am therefore appealing to you today to invite Jesus Christ into your boat before you run out of steam. You must get God involved in all you do because no matter how brief that venture is, you will need Him along the way.

Open Heavens 14 September 2018 Friday Prayer Point:

Father, I invite You anew into my life. I repent of whatever I am currently doing without involving You. Please take over my life’s ambition and control it in Jesus’ Name.

Pro-Life Win: Appeals Court Reinstates Missouri Abortion Restrictions

Pro-Life Win: Appeals Court Reinstates Missouri Abortion Restrictions

A federal appeals court handed pro-lifers a victory this week by reinstating a Missouri law that requires abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at local hospitals and abortion clinics to be set up as “ambulatory surgical centers.”

The 3-0 ruling Monday by the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a lower court’s injunction that prevented the law from going into effect.

The decision could suspend abortion services in Columbia, Mo., and prevent a Kansas City clinic from regaining its license, Planned Parenthood officials told The Kansas City Star.

“If these laws are allowed to take effect, women will now have to travel farther, wait longer, and use more of their own resources to access the health care they need most, if they can get care at all,” Brandon Hill, president and CEO of Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood Great Plains, told the newspaper.

The law requires doctors at abortion clinics to be “privileged to perform surgical procedures in at least one licensed hospital in the community” – which by the law’s definition can be no more than 15 minutes away.

Pro-lifers say the law is designed to protect women who undergo abortions.

“We’re very happy that the court of appeals reversed the lower court decision and we think when the district court looks at it again, they will uphold the law because it protects…

Calls for buffer zones outside abortion clinics rejected by Home Secretary

The issue of buffer zones was first raised when Ealing Council in West London put a 100 metre protest-free zone around a Marie Stopes clinic to stop people holding vigils outside the building, leading to increasing pressure from campaigners to introduce similar zones across the country.

Pro-choice groups say women have felt intimidated and been harassed on the way in.

But Sajid Javid, the Home Secretary, says protest-free areas ‘would not be a proportionate response’.

He said a Home Office review did find cases of harassment and damaging behaviour – but they ‘weren’t the norm.’

Ed Rennie is a Christian from the Be Here For Me campaign and Labour Life and supports the right of pro-lifers to stand outside abortion clinics when they offer on-going help to mothers as an alternative option to terminating a pregnancy.

Rennie told Premier’s News Hour that despite the campaign for zones being supported by pro-choice groups, they would have prevented choice:

“It is not pro-choice to support these zones because what that’s doing is pulling out of in front of a clinic an opportunity for women who are considering a termination to have that final offer of an alternative to abortion.

“And the women who do change their minds are often those who feel very much that feel that they do not have any choice but abortion.”

“These groups who are offering that final offer of support before they go to their appointment are saying ‘No, no, no – you do still have a choice, we can…

Campaign Urges TEENS to Boast about Their Abortion

Campaign Urges TEENS to Boast about Their Abortion

A trio of abortion rights groups launched a program Tuesday urging teen girls and young women who have had an abortion to speak up about their procedure and to reject the “culture of stigma” about it.

The Youth Testify program is sponsored by Advocates for Youth, the National Network of Abortion Funds, and the 1 in 3 Campaign. The website hopes to shift the narrative about abortion among teens and young women by spotlighting the stories of 12 women – ages 17-24 – who had an abortion.

“Young people need to have a voice in conversations surrounding bodies, reproductive health, and abortion access because young people, as much as any of us, are capable of making the decisions they feel are best for them,” the Youth Testify website says.

Significantly, the program rejects parental involvement in the decision.

“It is crucial that young people are supported in their ability to speak out against the dangers of parental involvement laws, and the impact the restrictions have on young people’s ability to access an abortion, particularly when combined with other financial and logistical barriers to abortion,” said Bracey Sherman, senior public affairs manager for the National Network of Abortion Funds.

One member of the program, 18-year-old Lucy of Dallas, said she wishes “all young people” knew that “abortion is our right” and that “no one should tell us how…

RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 16 September 2018, Lesson 3

RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 16 September 2018 – Ingratitude

TOPIC: Ingratitude [RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 16 September 2018]

MEMORY VERSE: “And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?Luke 17:17 (scroll down for RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL 16 SEPTEMBER 2018 HYMN)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Luke 17:11-19 (RCCG Sunday School STUDENT Manual 16 September 2018)

11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

INTRODUCTION:

Ingratitude negates the will of God (1 Thessalonians 5:18). It is a sign of backsliding. Though people are ungrateful for various reasons, we must not be ingrates because of its attendant dangers (Romans 1:21-22).

LESSON OUTLINES
1. Reasons for ingratitude
2. Dangers of ingratitude

REASONS FOR INGRATITUDE
The primary reason for ingratitude is sin which is as a result of spiritual blindness (Isaiah 29:16; Romans 1:21-22,28). Other reasons include:
1. Failure to take account of what God has done (Psalm 103:1-3).
2. Ignorance, foolishness and slowness of heart (Luke 17:17; 24:25; Deuteronomy 32:6).
3. Spiritual immaturity and insensitivity (Luke 24:13-16, Psalm 106:7).
4. Keeping of bad company (1Corinthians 15:33).
5. Pride, as in the case of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:22-25,30-31).

DANGERS OF INGRATITUDE
Anyone with an attitude of ingratitude stands the risk of losing his/her blessings, salvation and ultimately Heaven (2 Samuel 6:20-23, Luke 12:16-21). Ingratitude may be regarded as an act of wickedness. Anyone who is ungrateful to God is attracting a curse to himself (Proverbs 3:33) or limiting his/her blessings. Ingratitude is blocking the greater blessings of many believers today (Luke 17:17-19). Inability to access the presence of God (Psalm 100:3-4) and turning into an enemy of God (Romans 1:21,28, Numbers 14:2-4,11-12) are other dangers of ingratitude.

CONCLUSION
Repent and return to God with a heart of thanksgiving. Make thanksgiving a lifestyle.

QUESTIONS
1. Why are people ungrateful?
2. What are the dangers of ingratitude?

I’ll be in Sunday School.

I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

Pastor Andrew Stoecklein’s Widow Explains Why His Suicide Does Not Condemn Him to Hell

(Photo: Instagram)Kayla and Andrew Stoecklein discuss their struggle with the late pastor’s mental health problems at Inland Hills Church in Chino, Calif. on August 12, 2018.

Kayla Stoecklein, widow of late Inland Hills Church Lead Pastor Andrew Stoecklein, who died after attempting suicide at his church last month, says she is confident her husband is in Heaven despite the enduring “myth” that suicide victims are condemned to Hell.

“This is a common misbelief about suicide and it breaks my heart. I’ll be the first to admit prior to Andrew’s death I may have actually believed it to be true,” Kayla, 29, wrote on her family’s God’s Got This blog Tuesday.

“I remember leaning over to my mother in law, Carol, in the hospital room as my husband lay there dying, whispering through my tears, ‘Will he go to heaven?’ She quickly reassured me, as I am confident now: whether you are accepted into heaven or not has nothing to do with how you die. The only way we are accepted into heaven is through a personal relationship with Jesus,” she said.

The Chino Police Department told The Christian Post that at 11:08 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, they received a call from the Chino, California, church about an attempted suicide. When they arrived, Pastor Stoecklein who had been battling anxiety…

Church in Wales to consider allowing gay marriage

An annual meeting of its governing body has heard how most members support the proposals, the Archbishop of Wales said.

Archbishop John Davies told Premier: “There was a very significant majority in favour of us making a formal move ahead and discussing provision further”.

Leaders decided on Wednesday to consider a raft of options after agreeing a current lack of “formal provision” for same-sex couples was “pastorally unsustainable”

A ruling by the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) last summer prompted consternation among leaders within the international Anglican community.

Months later, the Archbishop of Justin Welby unveiled a series of sanctions on the SEC which limited its role within the Anglican Communion.

Archbishop John Davies told Premier that bishops had carefully weighed up likely consequences the Church in Wales might face.

He said: “We would be told that we’ve stepped outside traditional teaching and, for that reason, there would be some criticism – but certainly not alienation.

“Ultimately, we think it is a matter of justice.

“We have in our congregations people who are in faithful same-sex relationships, civil partnerships or indeed marriages.

“They can be admitted to Holy Communion, they can be baptised, they can be confirmed. In some circumstances… they can be ordained.

“So, actually withholding some sort…

Lori went on to say, “I further pledge to conduct a thorough investigation in search of the truth into the troubling allegations against Bishop Bransfield and to work closely with the clergy, religious and lay leaders of the diocese until the appointment of a new bishop.”

Pope Francis accepted Wheeling-Charleston, W.Va. Bishop Bransfield’s resignation on Thursday and subsequently appointed Archbishop Lori as apostolic administrator of Wheeling-Charleston.

According to the statement, Lori will continue to serve as archbishop of Baltimore while also administering the West Virginia diocese.
