Seeds of Destiny 14 September 2018 – The Place Of God’s Word In Faith Building

Topic: The Place Of God’s Word In Faith Building [Seeds of Destiny 14 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: But what saith it? The word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thy heart: that is the word of faith which we preach; Romans 10:8.

Thought For The Day: Revelation must experience re-visitation in order to have revitalization

The Word of God has several ministries or assignments in the lives of people. Yesterday, we saw that the Word of God renews or renovates mentality.

Today, we shall look at yet another assignment of the Word of God:

The Word of God is a faith Builder.
The Word of God builds a person’s faith. The Word of God is sent as fuel for faith in the heart of man.

Now, the way a car is driven to the filling station for refuelling, is the same way a child of God should go to the Word-station to get the Word of God whether in personal Bible study or in a congregational service preaching.

It is important to know that there must be a constancy of intake of God’s Word in order to guarantee the building of solid faith. For example, a car needs fuel on a constant basis in order to move; you cannot say that because you fuelled your car last month, you don’t need to fuel it this month again.

If you do that, the car would be immobilized. The fuel of one month ago may not handle the journey of today. In the same way, you cannot assume that since you studied God’s Word yesterday, you would not have to study it today. If you do that, your journey of faith would be stagnated and arrested.

Beloved, I counsel you to study God’s Word always. Revelation must experience re-visitation in order to have revitalization. Previous revelations must be irrigated by fresh light in order for faith to remain sharp.

Remember this: Revelation must experience re-visitation in order to have revitalization.

Assignments:
1. Make up your mind to keep your faith intact in God.
2. Feed your faith always with the Word of God.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for the strong unquenchable appetite for Your Word. Give me the grace Lord to nourish my faith daily by studying Your Word in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna 14 September 2018 – Say No To Envy

Topic: Say No To Envy [DCLM Daily Manna 14 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: 1 Samuel 22:6-10 (KJV)

Key Verse: “That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?” (1 Samuel 22:8).

MESSAGE:

The notion of wanting to be in same situation as somebody else or wanting to have something that belongs to another has been in vogue since the beginning of the world. Satan wanted to take the place of God but became a castaway. Cain killed his brother, Abel and Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery out of envy. King Saul, in the text under consideration, had become very displeased with David since the day the women of Israel ascribed more glory to him (1 Samuel 18:7-9). At this point, the killer-instinct had become so ingrained in Saul’s life that he left the business of the kingdom in pursuit of David’s life.

The word of God stands against envy. It is numbered among the works of the flesh “…envy slayeth the silly one” (Job 5:2). “…But envy the rottenness of the bones” (Proverbs 14:30). Believers who are looking heavenward, must thoroughly guard their loins against the spirit of envy. This is only made possible when self is crucified. You must seek the Lord for the circumcision of the heart so as to be set free from self-indulgence. Remember that envy, if allowed, is dangerous to the wellbeing of the soul. It tends to pride; it debases and can eventually lead to self-destruction as it did to King Saul.

The Bible enjoins that we keep the heart with all diligence. Envy is the gateway to many other vices. It is the midwife of jealousy and grandparents to character assassination and murder. Endeavour to make your calling and election sure by earnestly meditating on God’s word, fighting the good fight of faith, praying and guarding your heart against envy.

Thought For The Day: One possessed by envious spirit will miss heaven.

Topic: Forgiving Others Is To Your Advantage [Andrew Wommack 14 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Mark 11:25 “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Text: Matthew 21:20-22; Mark 11:20-26

There are qualifications for believing and receiving as well as restrictions for receiving answers to prayer. Unforgiveness in our hearts will keep our prayers from being answered.

We should forgive others as quickly as it takes to make the decision to pray. The Greek word for “when” means “whenever, as soon as, or while.” When we stand praying, we must forgive if we have ought (“anything at all, the least little part; whatsoever”) against anyone.

When we are offended or hurt, we often feel justified in holding a grudge.

The Old Testament law expressed this when it stated, “Eye for eye, tooth for tooth” (Ex. 21:23-25). Until the offense was paid, we did not feel free to forgive. However, God dealt with all men’s offenses by placing sin upon the perfect Savior who was judged in place of every sinner of all time. To demand that others must earn our forgiveness is not Christlike. Jesus died for every man’s sins, extending forgiveness to us while we were yet sinners, and we should do the same.

It is doubtful that a person who refuses to forgive has ever experienced forgiveness himself. This is comparable to the servant that Jesus talked about in Matthew 18:23-35. He was forgiven a debt of over $3,000,000,000 and yet he refused to forgive his fellow servant who owed him $3,000. The forgiveness that we have received from the Lord is infinitely greater than any forgiveness we will ever be asked to extend to others. Freely forgive as you have been forgiven.

Billy Graham 14 September 2018 – True Friendship

Topic: True Friendship [Billy Graham Daily Devotional 14 September 2018]

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. — John 13:35

The human soul is a lonely thing. It must have the assurance of companionship. Left entirely to itself, it cannot enjoy anything. God said in the beginning, “It is not good that man should dwell alone” (Genesis 2:18). The creation of Eve was the beginning of human companionship. God’s people are a body, not intended to function separately, not intended to be unconcerned for one another.

The only true body in the world is the Church. The world may talk grandly of brotherhood, but in reality its philosophy is “each man for himself.” God’s children are guaranteed the richest and truest friendship, both here and hereafter. Only in a true friendship and a true love do we find a genuine basis for peace. Only God can break down the national and racial barriers that divide men today. Only God can supply that love that we must have for our fellowman. We will never build brotherhood of man upon earth until we are believers in Christ Jesus. The only true cohesive power in the world is Christ. He alone can bind human hearts together in genuine love.

Prayer for the day: Father, teach me true brotherhood in Jesus Christ.

Cardinal Wuerl Says He Will Meet with Pope to Discuss Possible Resignation

Cardinal Wuerl Says He Will Meet with Pope to Discuss Possible Resignation

(RNS) — The archbishop of Washington, D.C., Cardinal Donald Wuerl, who has faced calls to step down over his handling of sexual abuse cases while serving as bishop of Pittsburgh, said in a letter to priests that he will soon go to Rome to meet with Pope Francis to discuss his possible resignation.

The letter comes after an extraordinary meeting held Labor Day weekend at which the cardinal talked with archdiocesan priests about the best way to address the mounting criticism, spurred by the release in August of a bombshell grand jury report outlining clergy abuse in Pennsylvania.

The report alleges that even though Wuerl argued that parishioners have a right to know if a priest accused of child sex abuse had been reassigned to another parish, he also reassigned priests with histories of abuse, effectively shielding them from accountability.

Since the report was unveiled, a prominent deacon at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington said he would refuse to participate in the Mass alongside the cardinal. At the Labor Day meeting, some priests suggested that Wuerl should resign.

In the letter sent to the D.C. priests on Tuesday (Sept. 11), Wuerl noted that he had prayed with clergy the week before “to discern the best course of action for me to pursue as we face new revelations of the extent of the horror of the clergy abuse of children and…

This Pastor Dreamed About Columbine Shooting, 9/11 Attacks Before They Happened

How should people cope with tragedy? That’s a question Pastor Bruce Porter has had to answer again and again as a preacher, chaplain — and a good Samaritan who was heavily involved in helping victims of both the Columbine High School shooting in Littleton, Colo., and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

Porter, the Colorado preacher who officiated Columbine victim Rachel Joy Scott’s funeral after the 1999 shooting, later found himself drawn to the scene of America’s most horrific terror attack, arriving at Ground Zero six days after the Sept. 11, 2001 assault to help minister to the afflicted. It was an experience that transformed his life.

“We all remember where we were and what we were doing [on 9/11] … the circumstances of our day,” Porter recently told PureFlix.com’s “Pure Talk.” “And I just sensed immediately that God was calling me with a sense of duty to respond to that, because I knew I had some skill sets that might be useful in New York.”

Watch Porter discuss the dream that he believes foreshadowed the events at Columbine and Ground Zero:

The pastor said that he was a good fit to help volunteer his time, considering his background as a local firefighter, pastor and chaplain. Porter also had plenty of experience…

Faith-Based Disaster-Relief Teams on Standby as Florence Nears

Faith-Based Disaster-Relief Teams on Standby as Florence Nears

DURHAM, N.C. (RNS) — On top of all the state and federal disaster relief groups readying for Hurricane Florence as it barrels toward North and South Carolina are a group of expert helpers: the faith teams.

The biggest of these, North Carolina Baptists on Mission and the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, have made a name for themselves during previous hurricanes and other natural disasters, feeding people, clearing debris, gutting uninhabitable homes and rebuilding them from stud to kitchen cabinet.

On Wednesday (Sept. 12), they were back at it — not yet delivering help, but strategizing over how best to deploy their volunteer armies and equipment.

Florence is likely to produce catastrophic flooding in the eastern Carolinas when it makes landfall Friday. Damaging winds and near-certain flooding from the massive rainfall will worsen the misery.

“God’s opened a lot of doors and given us a lot of opportunity,” said Richard Brunson, executive director of North Carolina Baptists on Mission, a collective of emergency response teams in the state. “We’re thankful for that. We want to glorify God if we have opportunities to, and we’re looking for the best way to do that right now.”

Baptists on Mission partners with the state, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army to feed thousands. On Wednesday leaders pored over the latest storm…

Parents of Kidnapped Leah Sharibu Awaiting Government Action amid Groundswell of Support

Parents of Kidnapped Leah Sharibu Awaiting Government Action amid Groundswell of Support

JOSNigeriaSeptember 13, 2018 (Morning Star News) – The father of a high school girl kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria is pleased by Christians’ support but said he has yet to hear from government officials.

Nathan Sharibu, father of Leah Sharibu, told Morning Star News by phone that no one from the government has called the Christian family since the abduction of his daughter in February, nor since the release of an audio recording by Leah last month.

“Unfortunately, since the abduction of our daughter, no government official in Nigeria has contacted us or even let us know the effort the government is making towards the release of my daughter,” he said. “However, Christians across the world have been supporting us and praying with us. It has not been easy bearing the pains of missing our daughter, but the Lord has been gracious through His unmerited grace to us.”

Because she refused to convert to Islam, Muslim extremists from Boko Haram declined to include the 15-year-old Christian girl among more than 100 kidnapped girls the terrorist group released in March. In an audio recording released by a local journalist on Aug. 27, Leah says in her native Hausa that she wants the Nigerian government and “people of goodwill” to rescue her.

She and the other girls were kidnapped on Feb. 19 from Government Girls Science and…

‘Bible Doesn’t Make These Artificial Distinctions’

(Photo: ERLC/Karen McCutcheon)Russell Moore, president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, speaks at the MLK50 conference in Memphis, Tennessee, April 3, 2018.

Leading Southern Baptist ethicist Russell Moore has responded to John MacArthur’s recent claims that evangelicals’ embrace of social justice causes is a threat to the Gospel.

Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, recently spoke with co-host Skye Jethani on the Holy Post Podcast to discuss social justice within the Church.

Moore, who leads an entity responsible for a conference in honor of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s death this year, responded to a statement signed last week by over 3,000 evangelicals that supports MacArthur’s condemnation of evangelical’s “newfound obsession with the notion of ‘social justice.'”

The statement released last week argues that the Bible’s teaching is being challenged by “the broad and somewhat nebulous rubric of concern for ‘social justice'” and voiced concern that “values borrowed from secular culture are currently undermining Scripture in the areas of race and ethnicity, manhood and womanhood, and human sexuality.”

Specifically, Moore was asked if rhetoric from “The Statement on Social Justice and the…

Israel Denies Reports that they Sold “Iron Dome” to Saudi Arabia

Israel Denies Reports that they Sold “Iron Dome” to Saudi Arabia

The Israeli government denied reports that they sold missile defense technology to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi-based Al-Khaleej Online reported that a diplomatic source in Saudi Arabia claimed that Israel sold the “Iron Dome” technology to them.

In an emailed statement to The Times of Israel, the defense ministry said, “We deny the existence of a deal to sell Iron Dome to Saudi Arabia.”

A spokesperson for Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, a state-owned defense contractor who manufactures the Iron Dome in conjunction with Israel Aerospace Industries denied the report as well. He told The Times of Israel, “The report is not true.”

Saudi Arabia reportedly pursued the technology to protect themselves from missile attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen. Yemen’s president is in exile in Riyadh after the Iranian-backed rebels took over the capital city of Sana’a.

The conflict in Yemen became a proxy war for control in the region. Iran supports the Houthi rebels and the Saudis back the democratically elected government. A coalition led by Saudi Arabia controls the airspace over the war-torn nation.

Israel implemented the “Iron Dome” in 2011 to protect themselves against rocket and missile attacks coming from Palestinian territory. The technology detects when a rocket has been fired, can sense what type of projectile it is, where it is going,…
