MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 14 September 2018 – Achieving Greatness

TOPIC: Achieving Greatness (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries Friday, 14 September 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Mark 10:35-45

MEMORY VERSE: “And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” – Mark 10:44

The MESSAGE:

It is a common principle in the scriptures that the way up is down. In John 12:24 and even in 1 Corinthians 15:36, the Bible talks of seed having to die first before being quickened. As it is of seeds, so it is for man. He who wants to lead must first be a servant.

A lot of people, even those in church, desire and seek positions of authority in order to become great and influential. As believers, our hope for power and influence should be accompanied with the desire to make a difference and better the lives of as many people as possible.

John and His brother, James, sought for positions they felt they were qualified for. They wanted a position in glory by the right hand of Jesus. They had no knowledge of what it took to occupy such a position. Jesus reminds us that such a position required sacrifices and a life of service to others (Mark 10:39, 43). He instructed them that the one who wishes to lead must first become a servant. It is in the place of service that he will learn and be prepared for leadership.

Achieving greatness starts with serving others in humility. Rather than pray for position, pray for the grace and enabling to serve just like Moses did. When God sees your hunger and yearning for service, He will create the circumstance and atmosphere that you need to operate. Your greatness is in the place of stooping low in service. When you humbly and faithfully serve people, particularly in the household of God, then God will reward you with greatness and uncommon testimonies.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
ACHIEVING GREATNESS STARTS WITH SERVING OTHERS IN HUMILITY.

PROPHETIC WORD:
As you serve others first, God shall increase your reach, impact and influence.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Holy Ghost, empower me to achieve greatness in my life and ministry, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every spirit of pride in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. O God, arise and position me for greatness, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. I refuse to be led astray as a result of little achievement, in the name of Jesus.
5. Anointing of humility, fall upon me, in the name of Jesus.
6. O Lord, prepare me adequately for my position of leadership, in the name of Jesus.
7. O Lord God, I am available, use me according to Your will, in the name of Jesus.

Open Heavens 15 September 2018 – Doing the Ridiculous

Open Heavens 15 September 2018 Saturday Daily Devotional by Pastor E A Adeboye – Doing the Ridiculous

Topic: Doing the Ridiculous (Open Heavens 15 September 2018)

Memorise: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”- Hebrews 11:6

Read: Hebrews 11:17-19 (KJV)

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Bible in One Year: Proverbs 20-22, Mark 8:11-30

Open Heavens 15 September 2018 Saturday MESSAGE:

As a mathematician, when I first gave my life to Christ, the paying of tithe to God was ridiculous to me, and I saw it as a subtle way through which the pastors wanted to swindle me of my hard-earned money. Prior to this time, my 100 percent was not enough; by the middle of any month, I had to borrow money from my driver to buy fuel. I then wondered within myself that if 100 percent was not enough, how then could 90 percent be? Thanks be to God that the Holy Spirit won this argument, and today, I am a living testimony of the faithfulness of God to every person who pays tithe. Hebrews 11:6 reveals that without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith in God enables a person to do the ridiculous. God asked Gideon to go to the battlefield with a “ridiculous” number of soldiers (three hundred) against the thousands of Midianite soldiers opposing them. As if that was not enough, even the three hundred soldiers were not to carry any weapon of war, but rather an earthen vessel each (Judges 7:7-25)! Gideon complied with these instructions in faith and he got a miraculous victory.

Moreover, concerning the salvation of our souls, it takes believing the “ridiculous” before the miraculous can be experienced. The Bible in John 3:16 says

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The Bible further states that the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). That the scripture says “all sin” and not just few sins! This truth is what the unbelieving people of this world cannot understand. In fact, nobody can explain it. It belongs to the realm of faith. In addition, many of those who have ever experienced the miracle of healing have a testimony of doing the ridiculous before they got the miraculous. An example of this is the story of the ten lepers (Luke 17:12-19). In spite of the fact that leprosy was still visible on their skin, Jesus told them to go and present themselves to the high priest to show that they were healed of their leprosy, because they needed to be certified as being free of leprosy before they could reintegrate into their communities. They proceeded to show themselves to the high priest. In order to get the miracle of healing, they confronted the risk of being stoned to death for coming out of isolation as lepers. However, they got healed on their way: their “ridiculous” faith earned them miraculous healing! My experience in my Christian walk and particularly as a minister of the gospel have taught me that unless you agree to do whatever God asks you to do, however ridiculous it may sound, you cannot experience the miraculous. Beloved as you exercise faith in Jehovah-Rapha today, your healing shall be made manifest in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heavens 15 September 2018 Saturday Prayer Point:

Father, increase my faith to the level of being able to do the ridiculous in order for my miracle to manifest.

Open Heavens 15 September 2018 Saturday Hymn 4: Trust And Obey

1. When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the alter we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are from them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

How to Say No to Church Members

Podcast Episode #467

SUBSCRIBE: iTunesRSSStitcherTuneIn RadioGoogle Play • iHeart Radio

Pastors often fall into the trap of being people pleasers. Today, we discuss why and how you can say no to requests or even demands from church members.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • One of the most freeing things a leader can do is to accept that you will not be loved by everyone.
  • Pastors, make sure your first line of ministry is your family.
  • Pastor, you can’t say yes to everything. You have to learn to say no to some things.
  • Having a referral list can help a pastor say no to ongoing pastoral counseling.

The six ways that we discuss today are:

  1. Accept you can’t please everyone
  2. Say yes to your family first
  3. Find times away from the office
  4. Suggest members do what they want you to do
  5. Get advocates to help you
  6. Say no graciously

Justin Welby under fire as Church of England zero-hour contracts revealed

Speaking at the TUC Congress in Manchester, Justin Welby criticised firms like Amazon for paying “almost nothing” in taxes, and described the so-called gig economy and zero-hours contracts as “the reincarnation of an ancient evil”.

It has now been revealed that at least two Church of England cathedrals are advertising zero-hours contract jobs, while the Church has confirmed retailer Amazon is one of its 20 biggest investments worldwide.

Gloucester Cathedral (pictured below) is currently advertising for a porter on a zero-hours contract, with its website describing the role as mostly evening and weekend work with a wage of up to £8.75 per hour.

And Norwich Cathedral is looking for a refectory assistant, calling it a “casual zero-hours post” on its website.

In a letter to The Times, the Reverend Ray Anglesea, a United Reformed Church minister who worked on a zero-hours contract in a cathedral bookshop, said the archbishop “might have done well to have put his own house in order before addressing the conference”.

Saffron Blaze

He wrote: “What the Most Rev Justin Welby did not disclose was how many of his cathedrals are zero contract hour employers and how many cathedral employees have no job certainty, no sick or holiday pay, and no maternity cover.”

Conservative MP Ben Bradley told the paper: “It’s hypocritical when (he) condemns…

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 14 September 2018 Devotional — God Will Meet You in the Fire

Topic: God Will Meet You in the Fire [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Friday September 14, 2018]

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12 (AMPC)

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship the golden idol that King Nebuchadnezzar constructed, and as a result were thrown into the fiery furnace (see Dan. 3). These three young men had no idea what would happen to them, but they were willing to put their lives on the line instead of disobeying God. We need people today who will take a stand for righteousness, for what is right according to God’s Word. If this does not happen, our world will be in serious trouble.

Many times, people fail to stand up for righteousness because they are afraid of what will happen when they do. Will they lose their jobs? Will they lose their friends? Will God abandon them? In situations such as these, when we do not know what the outcome or result of a situation will be, we need to trust God and press forward to do what we believe is right. Even if we are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, God’s Word says we are blessed (see Matt. 5:10). Those three Hebrew boys would’ve never experienced their incredible miracle if they weren’t willing to trust God as they stood in that fire.

The world desperately needs men and women who will trust God even in the midst of the fires of persecution and outside pressure. God can put us in better places than people could ever put us if we trust in Him and if we are people of integrity and excellence. We need people who will put everything on the line and say, “Even if I lose what I want, I will not compromise and do what I know in my heart to be wrong.” We need to fear the Lord above all else, and to trust Him at all times, in every situation, every day of our lives.

Trust in Him. Don’t be afraid to stand up for righteousness, because you know He’ll never leave you or forsake you.

Prayer Starter: Father, when the “fire” is turned up in my life, help me to stand strong and be a good representative for You. Help me to walk in integrity and do what’s right, even when it’s not popular. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Our Daily Bread 14 September 2018 Devotional – The Ultimate Satisfaction

Topic: The Ultimate Satisfaction [Our Daily Bread 14 September 2018 Devotional]

Read: Isaiah 55:1–7, Bible in a Year: Proverbs 19–21; 2 Corinthians 7

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Isaiah 55:1

As we distributed snacks for children at a Bible School program, we noticed a little boy who devoured his snack. Then he also ate the leftovers of the children at his table. Even after I gave him a bag of popcorn, he still wasn’t satisfied. As leaders, we were concerned as to why this little boy was so hungry.

It occurred to me that we can be like that boy when it comes to our emotions. We look for ways to satisfy our deepest longings, but we never find what fully satisfies us.

The prophet Isaiah invites those who are hungry and thirsty to “come, buy and eat” (Isaiah 55:1). But then he asks, “Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?” (v. 2). Isaiah is talking about more than just physical hunger here. God can satisfy our spiritual and emotional hunger through the promise of His presence. The “everlasting covenant” in verse 3 is a reminder of a promise God made to David in 2 Samuel 7:8–16. Through David’s family line, a Savior would come to reconnect people to God. Later, in John 6:35 and 7:37, Jesus extended the same invitation Isaiah gave, thus identifying Himself as the Savior foretold by Isaiah and other prophets.

Hungry? God invites you to come and be filled in His presence.

Prayer: Father, I long to know You more. Only You can satisfy my deepest desires.

Only God will satisfy our spiritual hunger.

TREM 14 September 2018 Daily Devotional – You Cannot Stand In Christ and Fail

Topic: You Cannot Stand In Christ and Fail [TREM 14 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

“Therefore thus saith the Lord God, behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste”. Isaiah 28:16 (KJV)

You cannot have God as your foundation and then fail in life. It is not possible! He is the Alpha and the Omega. Some of us are struggling for things that should naturally accrue to us by reason of birth. We are struggling when all we need do is to receive. That thing that continues to disturb you, the Master has already dealt with it at the foundation. Before it arrived, the Master was there already. The ancient Prophet Isaiah says, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation…” In other words, you can stake your life on it. A stone! Not just any stone: but a tried stone, a precious corner stone, and a sure foundation. That is where you are standing. How can I stand in Christ and fail? Stop fretting. When the storm is over, you will be standing because your foundation is sure.

I declare that the nations of the world will bow to you. It does not matter where you are located, that land will answer to you. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof (Psa. 24:1). We are not standing on a shaky foundation. Our foundation triumphed over death, hell and grave. Paul said “For I determined, not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” His death, burial and resurrection represented the source of Paul’s stability, and that made him stand out.

The work that Jesus did was completely complete and perfectly perfect. Stop running all over the place looking for prophets who will ‘prophelie’ to you. If standing on the infallible, errorless, impregnable, authoritative word of God has brought this Ministry thus far; then what are you looking for? All these private prophets praying for you, collecting your money and giving you prophecy; they will not help you. Stay on the sure foundation of the word of God and you cannot fail.

Determination: The Secret To Success by David Ibiyeomie

Determination: The Secret To Success By David Ibiyeomie

Topic — Determination: The Secret To Success

Determination is the act of coming to a decision of fixing or setting a purpose. It makes you to keep trying to achieve something that is difficult. Determination is the vision that fuels passion. Nothing great has ever being achieved without determination. What separates the successful from the failure is determination.

Thomas Edison persisted through many failures; he was determined to succeed. So, never give up on your dreams. Obstacles are only stepping stones for miracles. As a child of God, you should have long range goals to keep you from frustration of short range failures.

Heb. 12:2 – Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. {NIV}

Jesus did not allow the temporary challenge affect His long-term vision. Therefore, don’t allow the short term challenges you are facing affect your long term goal.

Gen.26-12-22

Every time God wants to lift you, you must be determined because opposition will come due to envy. Isaac was envied among the Philistines. They kept covering his wells of water out of envy but he did not throw in the towel. He kept digging until they left him alone. No matter the challenges you face, never lose sight of your goal.

Prov.24:16 – For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

That you had one challenge does not mean that you should give up; don’t give up easily because there is no success without determination. A wise man said: Many of the world great failures did not realize how close they were to success before they gave up. It is not because things are difficult that made you not to dare; it is because you do not dare that makes things difficult. A wise man said: I will go anywhere as long as it is forward.

You can be intelligent and talented without reaching the top. Until you make up your mind never to quit, you will remain a part 95% of group of people who never tasted success. Don’t settle for mediocrity; stop mourning and complaining about how life had treated you because the world is not blessed by talkers but by people who are determined to make success out of it. Persevere, keep the momentum going and cross the finish line to be a success. I see you succeed in the name of Jesus!

People are things can stop you temporarily but only you can stop yourself permanently. My friend, don’t give up; determine to succeed. Determination to succeed starts with a desire. Determination will birth ability which will propel action and action will generate results. As you determine, you will succeed in the name of Jesus!

Don’t let disappointments, failures, discouragements, tough times, oppositions, problems, misfortunes or defeat keep you down; refuse to quit because quitters never win and winners never quit. Persevere against all odds and succeed.

Gen.32:26 – And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

Jacob did not take a no for an answer, he wrestled until he was changed from a person to a nation. He did not give up irrespective of the pain he was going through when his joint bone shifted; he persisted. Push your way through and break through the cloud. There may be challenges but don’t give up because you will soon enter your rest in the name of Jesus!

Satan will not oppose you if you don’t have something great. Every time you see opposition, it is an indication that God’s hand is involved and satan is fighting to resist it. Satan does not attack those who have nothing to offer.

1 Cor.16:9 – For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

Every opposition is contending for your position but persevere against all odds and you will succeed. Determination can change an individual to a nation. If you want to be great; don’t give up. You can be small now but with determination, your life will turn around. Great is your future!!

God bless you

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 14 September 2018 – Take Correction

Topic: Take Correction [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 14 September 2018 Daily Devotional]

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man…and he will increase in learning. Proverbs 9:8-9, The Amplified Bible

There is one thing you can do that will accelerate your spiritual growth more than almost any other thing: Learn to take correction—from the Spirit of God and from His people.

So few believers seem to be able to do that. When their preacher gets in the pulpit and preaches about something they already know, about some aspect of life they’ve already submitted to the Lord, they think he’s great. They like him because he makes them feel good. But the moment he stands up and begins to preach about something they’re doing wrong, they take offense.

God says that’s foolish. He says in Proverbs 1:7, only fools strike out at, or despise, correction.

So don’t be like that. When your pastor or anyone else in the Body of Christ has a word of correction for you, receive it gratefully. Appreciate those who share the wisdom of God with you. When someone points out somewhere that you’ve missed it, instead of reacting against them, examine yourself and say, “Is that right? Does that agree with the Word? Do I need to make a change there?”

If the answer to those questions is yes, then make the changes you need to make to get your life in line.

I know that’s not easy. None of us likes to be corrected. But if you’ll make up your mind you’re going to receive that correction anyway, that you’re going to remain teachable, you’ll be able to go on and grow in spiritual things much more quickly.

One man said, “If you think you’ve already arrived, you aren’t going anywhere.” Remember that next time someone corrects you. Love that person and thank him for speeding along your spiritual progress. If you’ll do that, you’ll come out ahead every time.

Topic: Lone Eater [Teens Open Heaven 14 September 2018]

Memorise: And He said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

Read: 2 Kings 7:3-10 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Proverbs 25-27, 2 Corinthians 6

MESSAGE:

After the four lepers in 2 Kings 7 had their fill of booties from the Syrian army’s camp, they decided to spread the good news to fellow starving Israelites. This tells us that the purpose of being blessed is for you to be a blessing to others. If God prospers you, but you keep it to yourself, you will soon lose attraction and begin to sink.

The same goes for salvation. Have you received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour? Then go ahead to share the good news with the unsaved. Don’t hold back this good news. The lepers realized that sharing the good news with others was in fact doing good to themselves. How? Sharing the good news will prevent mischief from befalling them. The same thing goes for you. Don’t eat alone!

Teens Open Heaven 14 September 2018 Key Point:

Each time you share the good news of Jesus Christ, you avert an impending doom.

Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, 0 won’t you believe It?
Wonderful story of love.

Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful, Wonderful story of love.

2. Wonderful story of love,
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love;
Still He doth call today;
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation,
Wonderful story of love.

3. Wonderful story of love:

Wonderful story of love;
For all the pure and blest,
