Turkish officials to visit Washington amid tensions over detained pastor Andrew Brunson

The State Department refused to confirm whether any US officials had agreed to meet in Washington with the delegation, which is being led by Turkey’s deputy foreign minister Sedat Onal.

A spokesperson also said no agreement has been reached concerning Andrew Brunson, an evangelical church leader accused of supporting a group Turkey blames for a failed coup two years ago.

Brunson, who is in his early 50s, is currently on house arrest in the coastal city of Izmir, amid a trial where he faces espionage and terror-related charges. He denies any wrongdoing.

Differing attitudes towards the conflict in Syria and trade issues have compounded a cooling of ties between the NATO allies.

Last week, the Trump administration announced Turkey’s duty-free access to the US market was being reviewed.

World Watch Monitor

Ankara has imposed tariffs on US goods in response to tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminium. The US is also imposing sanctions on two Turkish officials.

Brunson, who is originally from the Black Mountain area of North Carolina, faces up to 35 years in prison if found guilty.

Supporters claim he is being held as a political pawn by Turkey as it hopes the US will extradite preacher Fethullah Gülen, whom it blames for an attempt to overthrow the government in July 2016.

TOPIC: God Can Do All Things, His Promise Never Fails (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Wednesday, 8 August 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 17: 15-18

MEMORY VERSE: “Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” – Genesis 18:14

The MESSAGE:

It is sometimes difficult for us to believe God wholeheartedly even when God reaffirms His promises. If not that God honours His word far above His name, many of us would have completely lost the promise of God due to impatience and unbelief. 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” God is forever faithful when it comes to His promises. The only problem we have is, knowing the appointed time for the manifestation of God’s promises so that we can wait patiently for it. Abraham’s initial encounter with God was wonderful. He believed God for the promise of not just a son, which he asked for, but for a great multitude of descendants as the stars of heaven. This was credited to Abraham for righteousness. All God requires from us is to trust and obey Him and He shall do according to His promises for us. However, as the promise seemingly becomes delayed, the heart gradually becomes sick and faith weakens unknowingly. This was the case with Abraham. Despite the fact that he heard directly from God and not from any prophet, his patience got exhausted in the course of time, and he opted for man’s alternative, provided by the duo of Sarah and Hagar. Rather than wait for the promise of God, he carried out this alternative plan outside of God’s will and even prayed earnestly that God would protect his alternative to God’s perfect will. He jettisoned the real promise of God and was more interested in seeking divine protection for the alternative he got for himself. What a tragedy!

God is never slack in His promises. Habakkuk 2:3 states: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Is there anything you have been believing God for? Patiently wait for the appointed time, and it shall surely come. Do not let the fear of being advanced in age as a lady push you into marriage outside the will of God. Are you believing God for the fruit of the womb? Patiently wait for God’s appointed time and you shall carry your own babies. Is it breakthrough you are believing God for? Be rest assured that God shall visit you at the appointed time, and He shall satisfy you with long life and prosperity. Do not apply the Sarah’s balm. The end, therefore, may not be palatable. If Abraham had envisaged the consequences of his alternative plan, he wouldn’t have opted for Hagar as an alternative. Perseverance and God shall visit you in due season, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
DO NOT APPLY SARAH’S BALM …THE END IS DISASTER.

PROPHETIC WORD:
The vision is yet for an appointed time, wait for it.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Powers suggesting destructive plans for me outside the will of God, be silenced and die, in the name of Jesus.
2. Holy Spirit, silence every pressure of the flesh pushing me outside the will of God, in the name of Jesus.
3. Holy Spirit, baptise me daily with strong faith and perseverance, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. I shall not be derailed, in the name of Jesus.
5. My long awaited miracles, hear the word of the Lord, manifest now by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. I shall make it in life, whether my enemies like it or not, in the name of Jesus.

God wants your home to succeed (Part 1) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: God wants your home to succeed (Part 1)

Dear Reader,

Happy New Month and congratulations for seeing the eight month in this wonderful New Dawn year. It is my prayer that new things begin to surface in your family and life in Jesus’ name. This month, by the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, we shall be looking at the family as God’s delightful place.

The family is God’s delight. This is evident because He (God) instituted marriage and family life. When He did so, His plan was for a peaceful and fulfilling home. It is clear from the Word of God that family life was not only meant to be just a good experience for the Christian but a very good one. God’s Word says: And God saw every thing that he had made (including family life), and, behold, it was VERY GOOD… (Genesis 1:31; emphasis mine).

“VERY GOOD” should be the description of the experience you are having in your home and family life as a Christian. However, some families feel that God has forsaken them, that He does not care about their case and that all hope is lost. Well, I have good news for you. God is not against you and your situation is not hopeless.

This week, via the Word of God, you will see how to make God your delight; thereby making your home a delightful place to be.

It is important that every family understands that God delights and takes pleasure in them. He wants your family life to be very good; a place of joy and gladness. God’s Word says: Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver. For then shalt thou have THY DELIGHT IN THE ALMIGHTY, and shalt lift up thy face unto God. Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee (Job 22:26; emphasis mine).

When God delights in you and you delight in Him, He makes your life and your home a delightful place. If it is joy you need, He gives it to you. If it is money that is in short supply, God releases it. If it is peace that is required, He brings peace. Everything it takes for your family to succeed is made available. When God delights in your family, everyone against your family progress is silenced and you enjoy all-round security and speedy answers to your prayers.

Furthermore, when your delight is in Him, your life will always be on the increase (Psalm 18:19); God will promote you and you will enjoy abundance in every area of your life. God’s Word says: Thou shalt no more be termed forsaken; neither shall thy land anymore be termed desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord DELIGHTETH in thee, and thy land shall be married (Isaiah 62:4; emphasis mine). This is God Word’s for you right now.

From the above passage, God’s Word is saying that you shall no longer be regarded as forsaken or desolate, but you shall be a delight to God. Delight means great pleasure, joy, or enjoyment. If you feel forsaken, abandoned and hopeless; especially because of your family situation and you feel like giving up, DON’T, because God has not forgotten you!

The Word of God says: The Lord hath been MINDFUL of us… (Psalm 115:12; emphasis mine). So, don’t look at the seemingly hopeless situation around you: whether it is your children that are problematic, your husband that is not understanding or your parents that are always quarrelling. Rather, look at God’s Word and believe Him today that whatever experience of desolation you have been through in time past or you are going through, shall be the last one in Jesus’ name. You can make your home a delightful place. You can enjoy the riches of God in your home!

Since God has declared via His Word that He delights in you and your family, you also should delight in Him and your family. Don’t give up on your family. If you were submitting to your spouse and he or she seems not to take notice of that, don’t give up. Keep doing it for God is about to touch his or her heart. Or if you have been loving your wife and she has been very stubborn and unyielding, keep doing so. God is about to soften her heart. You have a duty to ensure you don’t give up on your family responsibilities. Keep doing what is right; keep delighting in your family. God’s Word says: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,… (1 Corinthians 15:58). Keep on obeying the instructions the Lord has given concerning your family, and God shall turn your situations around for good.

However, until God becomes your delight, your home cannot become a delightful place. If you really delight in the Lord, you also need to be certified a bonafide child of God. The Lord said: COME unto me… (Matthew 11:28). If you are not a child of God, you don’t have a genuine access to these blessings. If you are already born again, rejoice because your case is settled. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ Name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through [email protected], 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

TREM 8 August 2018 Daily Devotional

Topic: You Will Take Possession of Your Inheritance [TREM 8 August 2018 Daily Devotional]

“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions”. Obadiah 17

Beloved, one of the things you must learn to do is to take what has already been given to you. You don’t have to struggle, just take it.

According to the book of 1 Corinthians 2:12: “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God” Healing belongs to you! Success belongs to you! Abundance belongs to you and progress belongs to you. Anything good belongs to you. It is your right because it has been paid for fully by Jesus Christ.

Don’t fall for the lies of the devil and never allow him to deny you what the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ has made available to you. All things are yours! Go for it! They said you will not succeed, but before their very eyes, you will celebrate. God said He will do something that will disappoint all their declarations against you.

One thing God told me this year is that a lot of things will happen speedily in your life. There shall be no delay. Just believe and receive. Every delay and every postponement is removed by the authority of heaven. Whatever roadblocks are on your pathway are commanded to be removed by the authority of heaven.

Your case is not impossible for God. I have seen people that the doctor said do not have tubes that conceived. God is not a man. He does not function like a man. Let us always remember to put Him in His own exclusive class. He does what he wants to do, how He wants to do it, to whom He wants to do it, the way He wants to do it and there is nothing anyone can do about it. He is God!

You will spring a surprise this year. Pending issues in your life will be perfected and it will happen speedily. Nothing will stop you from taking possession of your inheritance.

Our Daily Bread Devotional 8 August 2018 – Dedicated to Love

Topic: Dedicated to Love [Our Daily Bread 8th Wednesday August, 2018]

Read: Romans 9:1–5, Bible in a Year: Psalms 74–76; Romans 9:16–33

My heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. Romans 10:1

As a convert to Jesus Christ, Nabeel Qureshi has written books to help his readers understand the people in the religion he left. His tone is respectful, and Qureshi always displays a heart of love for his people.

Qureshi dedicated one of his books to his sister, who has not yet put her faith in Jesus. The dedication is brief, but powerful. “I am begging God for the day that we can worship him together,” he wrote.

We get a sense of that kind of love as we read Paul’s letter to the church in Rome. “My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief,” he said, “for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them” (Romans 9:2–3 nlt).

Paul loved the Jewish people so much that he would have chosen separation from God if only they would accept Christ. He understood that by rejecting Jesus, his people were rejecting the one true God. This motivated him to appeal to his readers to share the good news of Jesus with everyone (10:14–15).

Today, may we prayerfully dedicate ourselves to the love that aches for those close to us!

Prayer: Father, we ask You to fill our hearts with Your love for others. We hold ______ up to You and beg for them to see the truth about Your Son Jesus.

We must love those for whom Christ died as well as those in whom Christ lives.

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 8 August 2018 Daily Devotional – Keep Paddling Upstream

Topic: Keep Paddling Upstream [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 8th August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. – Psalm 141:3

Do you really believe that you need to watch over your mouth? Most believers don’t. You can tell that just by listening to their conversations. They profess, for example, to be trusting God concerning their health. But you’re likely to hear them say something like this: “I’m just sure I’m going to get the flu. I get it every year. I’ll be sicker than a dog too, you’ll see….”

Do people like that have what they say?

Oh yes! Check with them a few weeks later and they’ll be quick to tell you that they got just as sick as they said they’d be. But, odds are, if you try to tell them there’s any connection between the words they spoke and the illness they suffered, they’ll look at you as if you were out of your mind.

Of course, if they’d dig in to the Word of God and find out what it has to say about the subject, they’d realize that the words they speak have a tremendous impact on their lives. They’d see that words quite literally determine their future. If you’re a born-again believer, you’ve already experienced the most powerful example of that. You believed with your heart and confessed with your mouth the Lord Jesus and you changed the eternal course of your life. You know firsthand just how powerful your words can be.

Yet, even so, if you’re like me, you still find that speaking faith-filled words consistently is tough to do. I’ve been at it myself for many years now and, despite all the time I’ve spent on it and all the experiences I’ve had, it’s still something I have to watch all the time.

You see, the world around you is in negative flow. Like a rushing river, it’s always pulling at you, trying to get you to flow with it. Living by faith and speaking words of faith is like trying to paddle upstream. You can do it—but it’s a great deal of work. And there’s never a time you can afford to take a vacation from it. All you have to do is relax a little bit and you’ll just start drifting right back down the river.

Make the decision right now to set a watch over your lips. Determine to consistently fill your mouth with the Word of God. “Attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings” (Proverbs 4:20). Let God’s Word be your watch and everything you say will take you a little farther upstream!

Harvest Billboards Showing Evangelist Greg Laurie With Bible Taken Down From Malls After Complaints

(Photo: Facebook)Evangelist Greg Laurie was forced to take down a series of billboards showing him holding a Bible, as seen in this image. The billboards advertised his upcoming “Harvest” outreach.

Evangelist Greg Laurie, who leads the multi-campus Harvest Christian Fellowship, was recently forced to remove billboards promoting his annual SoCal Harvest event from two popular malls in Southern California because they featured him holding a nondescript Bible in his hand that some people found offensive.

Even after the evangelist and his team adjusted the artwork for the billboard to use innocuous photos to promote the event, however, the company they contracted to advertise the event nixed their promotion.

“There was nothing overtly religious about it (billboard image),” John Collins, Harvest executive director, said in a CBN News report.

He noted that the Bible depicted in the image on the billboards did not have a cross, religious symbols, or even the word “Bible” on it.

The annual SoCal Harvest is a free, three-night event that will take place at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, on Aug. 17–19. Now in its 29th year, the event is expected to feature music from leading Christian artists, as well as a Gospel message by Laurie, who will tackle questions such as “What…

Teens Open Heaven 8 August 2018 – Standing By Christ

Topic: Standing By Christ [Teens Open Heaven 8 August 2018]

Memorise: And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you, though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.2 Corinthians 12:15

Read: 2 Corinthians 12:13-16 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Psalm 82-84, Romans 8:19-39

MESSAGE:

According to John the Baptist, it is possible to be a friend of the Bridegroom – Jesus Christ. How? By loving and keeping His commandments (John 14:15). It is enough to love and obey Him occasionally, your love and your obedience must be sustained. If your love for Jesus has dwindled or your obedience is now selective, it is doubtful that you are a friend of the Bridegroom. If there is an instruction that the Lord gave to you which you have failed to obey, it puts your relationship at risk. Can the Lord look at you and call you His friend.

According to the experience of John the Baptist, the friend of the Bridegroom stands by him and hears him. Your first duty as a friend of the Lord Jesus is to stand by Him. How can you stand by Him today? To stand by the Lord today entails standing by His children – your fellow brethren. It means giving them what it takes to make them what God wants them to be. It entails giving to those you know are in need, giving words of encouragement to the discouraged, and so on. What you do for your brethren is done for the Lord. Have you seen your brother in need? Did you hide yourself from him? From today, stand by the Lord and the brethren!

Action Point: Your ability to stand by Christ is determined by how much you stand by fellow believers in times of need or distress. Ask for the grace to stand by Christ always.

1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From vict’ry unto vict’ry
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while yelling sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.
3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus !
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.

4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.

DCLM Daily Manna 8th August 2018 Daily Devotional – Let’s Forgive One Another

Topic: Let’s Forgive One Another [DCLM Daily Manna 8th August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: Matthew 18:15-22 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21,22).

MESSAGE:

Joseph’s brothers had sold him into slavery in Egypt. But by God’s providence, his fortune was turned around and he became a great ruler with great power and authority in the greatest kingdom on earth at that time. Eventually, fate brought the brothers before him, but he forgave and nourished them and their households. That is the path of honour.

Our text deals with offences and forgiveness among brethren. Jesus outlines modalities to follow in settling disputes in the Church. The offended person takes the initiative, approaches the offender to make peace. If he accepts his error, the matter dies there. If not, others can be involved. But if he yet refuses to accept his fault, he should be regarded as a heathen. When all things are amicably settled, believers can command heaven’s attention in prayer with assurance of answers.

The issue of forgiveness, love and peace in the family and in the Church is of paramount importance to God. Offences will surely come, but the decision to forgive and forbear rests with the believer whom God has also given the grace to forgive an enemy. There are devastating consequences of unresolved issues among believers.

Love and forgiveness among brethren should be visible in the Church, because by it men know that they are truly followers of Christ. A believer should also love his enemies. Christ led by example; He prayed for those that crucified Him. Stephen did the same. Every believer must follow the same example because without forgiveness, there will be confusion and endless strifes.

Thought For The Day: Forgive others so that God can forgive you.

Seeds of Destiny 8 August 2018 Daily Devotional

Topic: The Maintenance of Quality Spirituality – One of the Most Important Things in Life [Seeds of Destiny 8 August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Thought For The Day: Until your spiritual life is in order, your natural life is out of order.

Today, we want to look at yet another very important thing in life which is, the maintenance of quality spirituality.

It has been confirmed that the quality of your spirituality determines the quality of your destiny. Until your spiritual life is in order, your natural life is out of order. The real needs of man are spiritual needs, and until spiritual needs are met, physical needs are not met.

Beloved, you have not succeeded in life until you have succeeded with God. For instance, as a medical student, if you have distinction in an elective course like General Studies (GS) but fail your core courses like Human Anatomy and Biochemistry; you have not excelled at all in what will make you a doctor. This is how life is, when your spirituality is neglected, even if you have money, fame, political influence, or have travelled round the world, you have not succeeded; you have only succeeded in putting the first thing last and the last things first. You have not excelled at all if you have not excelled in maintaining quality spirituality. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

Majoring in the minor and minoring in the major; that is how most people live their lives. Some people are physically good looking and robust on the outside but ugly and thin in the spirit. This is not correct.

Beloved, my counsel is, develop a quality relationship with God because if your spiritual life is not working, you are in a state of emergency. Life is all about developing quality relationship with your Creator.

Remember this: Until your spiritual life is in order, your natural life is out of order.

Assignments:
1. Decide to give priority attention to your spirituality
2. Endeavour to succeed with God before you succeed with men and in the things of life.
3. Develop the discipline of consistent prayer life and study of the Word.

Prayer: O Lord, give me the grace to maintain a quality relationship with You. Help me not to succeed in other things in life at the expense of my quality relationship with You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
