Joyce Meyer’s Daily 24 July 2018 Devotional — The Negative Effect of Judging Others

Topic: The Negative Effect of Judging Others [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Tuesday July 24, 2018]

Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. — Hebrews 13:15 (AMPC)

In other words, the very same things that we judge others for, we do ourselves.

The Lord gave me a very good example once to help me understand this principle. I was pondering why we would do something ourselves and think it was perfectly all right, but judge someone else who does it. He said, “Joyce, you look at yourself through rose-colored glasses, but you look at everyone else through a magnifying glass.”

We make excuses for our own behavior, but when someone else does the same thing we do, we are often merciless. Doing unto others as we want them to do to us (see Matthew 7:12) is a good life principle that will prevent a lot of judgment and criticism, if followed.

A judgmental mind is an offshoot of a negative mind—thinking about what is wrong with an individual instead of what is right. Be positive and not negative! Others will benefit, but you will benefit more than anyone.

Prayer Starter: Father, I ask for Your help to change the way I think of others. Please help me to not focus on the negative but to think of people the way I want them to think of me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Tuesday, 24 July 2018 – Your Secrets: Your Discretion

TOPIC — Your Secrets: Your Discretion (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Tuesday, 24 July 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 16: 1-5

MEMORY VERSE: “A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.”Proverbs 12:23

The MESSAGE:

In life, there are certain pieces of information that should remain close to our chest or treated as confidential and there are others that can be shared. Our failure to differentiate between the two and keep sensitive matters out of public knowledge may result in serious damage to our lives. In today’s world, everything and everyone feeds and lives on information. Despite this, there are still certain items of information we consider unfit for public knowledge. Likewise, there are items of information or revelation about our lives that should remain a secret.

In our Fire Scripture, Samuel knew Saul was to be substituted and the heir apparent was to be ordained, but he was also conscious of the danger attached if king Saul should know about it. God gave him sound counsel and he told no one about the plans of God. Jesse and his children as well as David (the anointed) knew nothing about the real intention of the sacrifice. Joseph revealed his vision and dreams to his brethren, but only the grace of God made sure it wasn’t truncated (Genesis 37:19-20). Samson’s parents had known the secret of Samson’s strength since his birth, yet they told no one (Judges 13:5). The day Delilah heard of Samson’s secret from Samson himself, she told Samson’s enemies and brought him into destruction (Judges 16:17,18).

Everyone qualifies for your love. However, not all the people you love qualify to know the secrets of your life! Because, some may not be able to handle it, while others cannot wait to use your secret for personal gain! The adversary that wants to destroy you, oftentimes, does not come with a sword but with a smile!

Also, it’s important to learn to keep other people’s secrets. This is about trust. It’s also important because of what may be at stake. So it’s a huge responsibility to ensure that people around you can confide in you. It’s a hallmark of reliability that must be seen in the life of a believer. Nothing can be more dangerous and painful than to share your secrets or ideas with friends who will let you down! I pray the Lord will expose all unfriendly friends and point you to the warning signals about them, in Jesus’ name.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
EVERYONE QUALIFIES FOR YOUR LOVE, BUT NOT ALL PEOPLE YOU LOVE QUALIFY TO KNOW THE SECRETS OF YOUR LIFE!

PROPHETIC WORD:
Every unfriendly friend you rely upon for comfort shall be exposed.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. O Lord, forgive me for revealing what I should conceal, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every secret of my life in wrong hands, be wiped off by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ name.
3. I will not talk my life into trouble, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Database of the enemy, containing information about me, be crushed, in the name of Jesus.
5. Power to know when to talk and speak only the right words, fall upon me in Jesus’ name.
6. O Lord, grant me counsel to protect and implement my divine vision, in the name of Jesus.
7. Lord Jesus, help me to fulfil my dreams, in the name of Jesus.

Debilitating illness forces Bishop of Stepney to quit

Bishop Adrian said the pain was “adversely” affecting his work and he will stand down at the end of October.

The 59-year-old said: “Migraines have been my thorn in the flesh for many years, but I have reached the point where they are adversely affecting my ability to carry out the demanding role of a bishop in this part of London.

“I hope that a period away from the front line will help me to recover and explore what God may be calling me to in the future.”

One in every 15 men and one in every five women are affected by migraines, according to the NHS.

The condition can manifest itself in moderate or severe headaches, nausea and vomiting.

The Bishop of Willesden Rt Revd Pete Broadbent will serve as Acting Bishop of Stepney until a successor is chosen.

Bishop Adrian, who assumed his role in July 2011, continued: “It has been a huge privilege to be Bishop of Stepney, serving one of the most diverse and vibrant communities in the whole of the country.

Diocese of London

“I have been blessed to work alongside a terrific group of clergy, and to be part of a diocese filled with creativity and godly ambition.

“I will miss the role enormously, and carry such a host of rich memories from my time here.”

The Bishop of London praised Bishop Adrian’s efforts to give “marginalised” communities in east London “a voice”.

Rt Rev Sarah Mullally said: “Bishop…

Family Says Faisal Hussain, Suspect in Toronto Shooting, Had Mental Problems – Urban Christian News

A man whose family said he suffered from psychosis and depression fired a handgun into restaurants and cafes in a lively Toronto neighborhood, killing a 10-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman and wounding 13 others in an attack that has shaken the confidence of many in the normally safe city.

Authorities on Monday evening identified the suspect as Faisal Hussain, 29, of Toronto, who died in an exchange of gunfire with police. It was not immediately clear whether he killed himself or was killed by police.

The mass shooting in Toronto’s Greektown district Sunday night came just three months after a van struck and killed 10 people in an apparent attack directed at women.

A statement from the family of Hussain said their son had severe mental health challenges that the struggled with psychosis and depression. They said medications did not help him and the interventions of professionals were unsuccessful.

“While we did our best to seek help for him throughout his life of struggle and pain, we could never imagine that this would be his devastating and destructive end,” the Hussain family said.

“Our hearts are in pieces for the victims and for our city as we all come to grips with this terrible tragedy. We will mourn those who were lost for the rest of our lives.”

Toronto’s police chief says a 10 year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman were killed in the mass shooting in the city’s Greektown neighborhood. Police chief Mark Saunders said 13 other victims have injuries ranging from minor to serious. (July 23)

Police Chief Mark Saunders earlier said he would not speculate…

20 Killed in Twin Wildfires Near Athens, Greece – Urban Christian News

Gale-fanned wildfires raged through holiday resorts near Greece’s capital, killing at least 20 people by early Tuesday and injuring more than 104, including 11 in serious condition, in the deadliest blaze to hit the country in more than a decade.

Greece sought international help through the European Union as the fires on either side of Athens left lines of cars torched, charred farms and forests, and sent hundreds of people racing to beaches to be evacuated by navy vessels, yachts and fishing boats.

Winds reached 80 kph (50 mph) as authorities deployed the country’s entire fleet of water-dropping planes and helicopters to give vacationers time to escape. Military drones remained in the air in the high winds to help officials direct more than 600 firefighters below.

“We were unlucky. The wind changed and it came at us with such force that it razed the coastal area in minutes,” said Evangelos Bournous, mayor of the port town of Rafina, a sleepy mainland port that serves Greek holiday islands.

The dock area became a makeshift hospital as paramedics checked survivors when they came off coast guard vessels and private boats. The operation continued through the night.

The fire posed no immediate threat to Greece’s famed ancient monuments, but as it raged inland children’s’ summer camps and holiday homes were hastily abandoned. Fleeing drivers clogged highways into Athens, hampering the firefighting effort.

It was the deadliest fire season to hit Greece in more than a decade. More than 60 people were killed in 2007 when huge fires swept across the southern Peloponnese…

Satellite Images Show the North Korean Dictator’s Bomb Factories Lying Ruined After His Pledge to Trump at Historic Singapore Summit – Urban Christian News

Satellite images appear to show that North Korea has started to dismantle a key nuclear test site.

The images come more than a month after Kim Jong Un pledged to denuclearize his country following a historic summit with President Donald Trump in Singapore.

The accord did not specifically spell out any times scales for the process or how it would be carried out.

But new satellite images, which have not been verified by outside experts, appear to show the dismantling of facilities at the Sohae satellite launching station.

Sohae has been the main site for North Korea’s satellite launches since 2012.

It is believed to have played a large role in developing the country’s intercontinental ballistic missile program, according to 38North, which released the satellite images.

The new images, which were reportedly taken on July 20 and July 22, appear to show the rail-mounted environmental shelter at the site has been dismantled and moved.

Space launch vehicles were assembled at the shelter – which hadn’t been moved since December 2017 – before they are moved to the launchpad, according to 38North analyst Joseph Bermudez Jr.

The image also appears to show that the test stand superstructure has been completely dismantled and that the base is being removed.

‘The rail-mounted environmental shelter has been razed and removed, the older fuel/oxidizer bunkers are in the process of being razed, and portions of the test stand’s upper steel framework have been dismantled and its paneling removed,’ Bermudez wrote.

‘Two days later fewer vehicles are present and the test stand…

Trapped Syrian White Helmets Make an Elaborately Planned Escape – Urban Christian News

The call came on Saturday night. In the raging war zone that is southwestern Syria, with enemy forces on the march, the 98 White Helmets volunteers brought their spouses, children and a personal bag each. A total of 421 people massed at two collection points where they were to make their crossing to safety.

By the time they crossed, they were 422. One woman went into labor, requiring an emergency C-section. Her son, Nairouz, came into the world in an open field under the darkness of night just short of the frontier with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

It was just one moment of drama in a complicated international rescue operation to extract the Syrian volunteer rescuers who work in opposition areas through their country’s bitter enemy Israel by bus to a temporary haven in Jordan.

It was a nail-biting trip to a crossing over one of the most tightly sealed frontiers in the world. Up until the last minute, those on the ground were uncertain the operation would go through.

Another nearly 400 people were meant to be pulled out as well. Most didn’t make it in time to the assembly points, unable to go through roads that were closing fast by the advancing Syrian forces on one side and the expanding Islamic State militants on the other.

In all, it took about six hours to complete the evacuation, according to a person close to the operation who agreed to discuss the details on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

“It was a ‘Hail Mary’ operation,” said the person familiar with the evacuation. “The only place of safety was through their…

Refuse Every Distraction by Dr Mike Okonkwo

“But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.”Matthew 14:30 (KJV)

Dearly beloved, I bring you greetings in the name that is above every name, Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God and our soon coming King. Today, I’ve come to charge you to refuse to be distracted, regardless of the form or appearance of the distractions. More especially in this day and age where so many things are happening concurrently, refusing distractions is a must if you will achieve anything tangible.

Our text this morning, is a very familiar scripture. Peter found himself doing the impossible; he was walking on water, after the Master called him. The key to this great accomplishment, was the instruction he received from the Lord, and his quick obedience to that instruction. Look at the preceding verses;

“v28 – And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
v29 – And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.”

One might be quick to think and assume that since Jesus had said to Peter “come”, then, that was all that he needed to succeed, and I agree with you; After all, Jesus’ word to Peter was not a mere command, but a command backed by the full creative power of God, with no margin for failure. In fact, as far as Jesus was concerned, Peter walking on the water, was already a concluded issue the very moment He spoke the Word. So, why then did Peter find himself sinking?

He took his eyes off Jesus, and started to pay attention to the boisterous winds, and unstable waters beneath him. Question, was the wind there when he got off the boat? The wind was there, but as long as he maintained focus, as long as he fixed his gaze on Jesus, the wind was immaterial. I have said this before and it bears repetition, when you look down, you will see discouragement and disappointment; when you look back, you will see regrets and mistakes; when you look around, you will see distractions, but when you look up, you see victory, triumph, hope. God wants us to be victorious this year, and our victory is already concluded, but to see the manifestation, we must keep our eyes on Jesus.

All Peter had to do was to maintain focus on the One who began the journey, and his victory was guaranteed, but then he allowed the distractions.

At the beginning of the year, God gave us His word as a ministry that this year is our year of Commanded Blessings, and throughout the year, the Word has gone forth letting us know that we are already Overcomers. Many of us as the Message translation describes, like Peter, “jumped out of the boat” with the word. However, the important question now is, are you still holding on to that word that you received? Are you still keeping your eyes on Jesus, irrespective of your challenges? Or are you amongst those who have for a moment, been distracted by the tales of woe of the economists, politicians, and the news media? Do you still judge God faithful in your family, business, career, health and all, to do that which He said He would, even in the face of seemingly contradictory evidence?

If there is one thing which is very crucial that you do as you live this life, it is to keep your eyes solely on Jesus, and avoid distractions. Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; …”

Isaiah 50:7 says, “For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.” You cannot trust in God wholeheartedly and fail; you cannot look unto Jesus and see shame. As the song writer sings: “I cannot call on Your Name and end up in shame, no way! I cannot bow before You and bow before men, no way!”

I declare to you that God will do you good. You will not see shame. You will not be disappointed. God will favour you. Everything is working together for your good. There is no shortage with God, therefore there shall be no shortage in your life. This is your year of Commanded Blessings and you shall surely testify. I will hear your testimony!

I bless you in Jesus’ name.

Maranatha!

In His Royal Service

Indian Mob Lynches Woman on Rumors of Child Kidnapping – Urban Christian News

A woman was lynched in central India on rumors that she was part of a gang that kidnapped children, police said Monday, days after the highest court called for immediate steps to control deadly mob violence across the country.

The Indian government announced Monday that it is setting up two committees to recommend appropriate ways to deal with the growing mob violence.

At least 14 people were arrested in Madhya Pradesh state’s Singrauli district following the killing of the woman, who was about 25, senior police officer Riyaz Iqbal said.

Iqbal said residents informed police on Saturday that a woman’s body was lying in a forested area. Police recovered the body, which bore multiple injury marks, he said. An initial investigation showed that she had been taken Friday night by a mob which dragged her to a village community center while punching and kicking her and hitting her with sticks.

Iqbal said the woman was seen roaming around neighboring villages a few days earlier amid wild rumors that members of child kidnapping gangs were active in the area.

The officer said the woman had not yet been identified. “She was not able to properly communicate with the mob and in all probability appears to have been mentally unsound,” he said.

India has a long history of mob violence, but in recent years, the internet and smartphones have aided the circulation of deadly rumors even to remote places.

At least 25 people have been lynched and dozens wounded in mob attacks in the last three months over rumors that they were part of child kidnapping gangs. The victims were outsiders, mostly…

DCLM Daily Manna 24 July 2018 Daily Devotional – Your Child Will Live

Topic: Your Child Will Live [DCLM Daily Manna 24th July 2018 Daily Devotional]

Text: 1 Kings 17:17-24 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him” (1 Kings 17:17).

MESSAGE:

God reveals Himself as a Comforter of the needy in their moments of trouble, as shown in the encounter between Prophet Elijah and the widow of Zarephath. The prophet understood the God he served; that He could show up in mysterious ways. He could feed man using the birds or raw nature. He could withhold rain from falling for as many years as He desired. He is a Sovereign God who acts in excellence.

After miraculously surviving a harsh famine that threatened to take her life, the widow found herself in another trouble; her son died. Finding nowhere to go, she resorted to Elijah who had a God to cry to and He did not disappoint Elijah as He raised the child from the dead. “And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.” By this, God proved that He is the Omnipotent Creator who is able to restore life to the dead. He can be trusted for a solution in desperate situations.

The world is witnessing the condition that prevailed in Israel in the days of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath. The downturn in global economy with the unease and mutual suspicion among nations breeds a new level of war and undeclared battles. The world is searching for peace which our modern ideas have not been able to offer. They have rather given us anxiety and erosion of morals.

If we turn to God for help, He can restore the society to His original plan, away from the chaos that have rampaged it. Without God, there is no hope elsewhere for man.

Thought For The Day: The world is dead without Christ, the Source of life.
