Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 24 July 2018 Daily Devotional – Leave the Past Behind

Topic: Leave the Past Behind [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 24th July 2018 Daily Devotional]

But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13-14

Spiritual bumps and bruises. Inner aches and pains that just don’t seem to go away. Most all of us know what it’s like to suffer from them but too few of us know just what to do about them.

We limp along, hoping somehow those hidden wounds will magically stop hurting, thinking that maybe (with a little extra sleep or an extra helping of dessert) that nagging sense of depression will finally disappear.

But does it ever happen that way? No!

I know. I’ve been there.

But thank God, I’m not there anymore. You see, over the past few years, I’ve faced some fierce spiritual battles. And I’ve found out those battles can leave you bruised and beat up on the inside just as surely as a fistfight can leave you bruised and beat up on the outside.

Before I was born again, I learned just how physically devastating a real slug-it-out kind of brawl could be. Yet as bad as I felt, a few days rest would take care of me.

The healing of a bruised and beaten spirit, however, doesn’t come that easily. In fact, the passing of time often worsens this condition. The reason is this: Instead of putting painful failures behind us, we often dwell on them until those failures become more real to us than the promises of God. We focus on them until we become bogged down in depression, frozen in our tracks by the fear that if we go on, we’ll only fail again.

But there is a way out. If depression has put you into a spiritual nose dive, all you have to do to break out of it is to get your eyes off the past and onto your future—a future that’s been guaranteed by Christ Jesus through the exceeding great and precious promises in His Word.

Chances are, that won’t come easily to you at first. Your mind has probably had years of practice in focusing on the past. Like an old horse that habitually heads for the barn, your thoughts will probably start galloping in that direction every time you give them any slack.

So, don’t give them that slack. Keep the reins tight. Purposely meditate on the Word of God. Replace thoughts of the past with scriptural promises about your future and be diligent about it. Then, instead of being a wounded soldier, you’ll become the conquering warrior God made you to be.

Seeds of Destiny 24 July 2018 Daily Devotional – Marked For Demolition

Topic: Marked For Demolition [Seeds of Destiny 24 July 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. 1 John 2:15-17.

Thought For The Day: The wisdom of drawing closer to God is the key to not being a victim of the destruction of this world.

On September 11, 2001, an event happened that shook the whole world; the world watched in shock and horror as New York’s World Trade Centre Towers were reduced to rubble by terrorists using hijacked civilian passenger jets.

At that time, I watched on television and saw the horrible sight of planes flying into the Twin Towers, and then all of a sudden, everything collapsed and was engulfed in flames.

Beloved, God made me to understand that what happened to those towers was a shadow compared to what is about to come upon the earth. I want to let you know that the whole world you see today is marked for demolition. If we do not understand the times that we live in, we easily become victims of calamity.

This world is not here to stay; this world is passing away. All the things of the world that people kill themselves to acquire would pass away. The world has been marked for demolition; God Himself marked it for demolition. All the beautiful places and palaces of this world, including The Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, Nigeria, The Presidential Castle in Accra, Ghana, The White House in Washington D.C., all the skyscrapers in New York, Chicago, London, Singapore, and the world’s tallest building in Dubai have all been marked for total demolition.

It will also interest you to know that all those expensive cars, flamboyant houses and mansions, fashionable clothes and all flesh upon the earth are marked for demolition.

A time will come where your wristwatch would be of no use because time would have stopped and eternity would have begun. At that time, hair dressing salons would be deserted, no traffic would be on the road anymore, night clubs and alcoholic joints would be deserted. What would matter at that time would not be the price of your shoes, the style of your hairdo or how beautiful or handsome you look; what would matter would be what you did with the time of your life and its eternal implication.

Beloved, it is important to know this so we can apply our hearts to wisdom – the wisdom of serving God, living a holy and righteous life. It is the wisdom of living the way God wants us to live. The wisdom of drawing closer to God is the key to not being a victim of the destruction of this world.

My counsel is, live with a consciousness that the earth is marked for demolition and would end someday. Let this consciousness draw you closer to God.

Remember this: The wisdom of drawing closer to God is the key to not being a victim of the destruction of this world.

Assignments:
1. Live in the consciousness that the world is marked for demolition. Be eternity-conscious.
2. Apply your heart to wisdom by drawing closer to God and living righteously.
3. Stay away from the filthiness of the world.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You help me to live with the consciousness of eternity. I ask for the grace to draw nearer to God and stay away from the filthiness of the world, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Our Daily Bread Devotional 24 July 2018 – Jesus Knows Why

Topic: Jesus Knows Why [Our Daily Bread 24 Tuesday July, 2018]

Read: Mark 8:22–26, Bible in a Year: Psalms 35–36; Acts 25

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching. Matthew 7:28

I have friends who’ve received partial healing but still struggle with painful aspects of their diseases. Other friends have been healed of an addiction but still struggle with feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing. And I wonder, Why doesn’t God heal them completely—once and for all?

In Mark 8:22–26, we read the story of Jesus healing a man born blind. Jesus first took the man away from the village. Then He spit on the man’s eyes and “put his hands on him.” The man said he now saw people who looked “like trees walking around.” Then Jesus touched the man’s eyes again, and this time he saw “everything clearly.”

In His ministry, Jesus’s words and actions often amazed and baffled the crowd and His followers (Matthew 7:28; Luke 8:10; 11:14) and even drove many of them away (John 6:60–66). No doubt this two-part miracle also caused confusion. Why not immediately heal this man?

We don’t know why. But Jesus knew what the man—and the disciples who viewed his healing—needed in that moment. And He knows what we need today to draw us closer in our relationship with Him. Though we won’t always understand, we can trust that God is working in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. And He will give us the strength, courage, and clarity we need to persevere in following Him.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for knowing us so well and for providing what we need most. Give us eyes to see You and a heart to understand Your Word.

Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus. Robert Cull

IMF Says Venezuela’s Inflation Is on Track to Top 1 Million Percent – Urban Christian News

Inflation in Venezuela could top 1 million percent by year’s end as the country’s historic crisis deepens, the International Monetary Fund said Monday.

Venezuela’s economic turmoil compares to Germany’s after World War I and Zimbabwe’s at the beginning of the last decade, said Alejandro Werner, head of the IMF’s Western Hemisphere department.

“The collapse in economic activity, hyperinflation, and increasing deterioration … will lead to intensifying spillover effects on neighboring countries,” Werner wrote in a blog post.

The once wealthy oil-producing nation of Venezuela is in the grips of a five-year crisis that leaves many of its people struggling to find food and medicine, while driving masses across the border for relief into neighboring Colombia and Brazil.

Shortages in electricity, domestic water and public transportation plague millions of Venezuelans, who also confront high crime, the IMF noted.

If the prediction holds, Venezuela’s economy will contract 50 percent over the last five years, Werner said, adding that it would be among the world’s deepest economic falls in six decades.

Socialist President Nicolas Maduro often blames Venezuela’s poor economy on an economic war that he says is being waged by the United States and Europe.

Maduro won a second six-year term as president despite the deep economic and political problems in a May election that his leading challenger and many nations in the international community don’t recognize as legitimate.

The IMF estimates Venezuela’s economy could contract 18 percent this year, up from the 15 percent…

Open Heavens 24 July 2018 – Other End-Time Signs

Topic: Other End-Time Signs [Open Heavens 24 July 2018 Tuesday Daily Devotional]

Memorise: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” – Acts 2:17

Read: Acts 2:17-21 (KJV)

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Bible in One Year: Ezra 9-10, Matthew 7:1-23

Open Heavens 24 July 2018 MESSAGE:

When considering the signs of the end-times, we are usually so engrossed with looking at the negative things that will happen that we often lose sight of the positive ones. There are several positive ones. There are several positive things the Spirit of God has indicated will occur in these end times, and children of God who are wise will put these to heart and watch out for them so as not to miss out what God is doing in our time. One of such positive signs is found in Micah 4:1:

“But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.”

This speaks about the prosperity and the glorification of God’s Church before the whole world. It also speaks of the great harvest of souls that God will send to His Church through this prosperity. Anyone who has his or her ears on the heartbeat of God’s Spirit will know that we live in the time when this sign is being fulfilled. The wise will connect themselves to what God is doing through His Spirit and experience this prosperity, while the foolish will continue to argue that prosperity is not for God’s children.

Another of positive sign is the great outpouring of revival, which the Holy Spirit spoke about in Acts 2:17, saying:

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”

This has already started, and a greater outpouring is gathering momentum among the youths. For this reason, the Church must begin to prepare the youths for the greater revival that is coming. This is not a theological proposition, but a truth that is founded on God’s word. We must therefore allow God to use us to bring it to pass. The old ones in the Body of Christ will dream dreams for the youths to carry out. There must therefore be collaboration and understanding of our distinct role in God’s programme for these end times. While our elders like Moses sit on the mountain to seek the Lord’s face, our Joshuas must take the battle to the enemy’s gates with their God-given vigour (Exodus 17:8-15). When we follow this divine pattern, the battle will be won decisively by the Church of Jesus Christ on earth, and the kingdom of God our Father shall be gloriously inaugurated at the second coming of His Christ.

Prayer Point: Father, let Your kingdom come in its fullness, and let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Open Heavens 24 July 2018 Hymn 12: Take My Life, And Let It Be

1.Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise,
Let them flow in endless praise.

2.Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3.Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose,
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

Andrew Wommack 24th July 2018 Daily Devotional – R.S.V.P.

Topic: R.S.V.P. [Andrew Wommack 24th July 2018 Daily Devotional]

Luke 14:16, 23 “Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: …And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

Text: Luke 14:16-24

The man who made the supper symbolizes God who has invited “whosoever will” to come to Him. The parable teaches that it is not God who fails to offer salvation to everyone, but rather it is the invited guests who reject God’s offer.

These people had feeble excuses just like the excuses of those today who don’t accept God’s offer of salvation. Therefore, the Lord’s Marriage Supper of the Lamb will be furnished with “undesirables” from the world’s point of view, not because God rejects the upper class, but because they reject Him.

Those who have an abundance of this world’s possessions don’t tend to recognize their need for God as much as those who are without.

Jesus’ parable could also be applied to the Jewish nation. God offered salvation to the Jews but they, as a whole, refused Him. Therefore, the Lord sent His servants to the Gentiles to fill His kingdom.

This very parable proves that the Lord is not advocating us using force to convert people to Christianity, because this man accepted the decision of those who rejected his invitation. Therefore, it must be understood that the Lord is admonishing us to compel them to come in by our persuasion or entreaty. The word “compel” denotes aggressiveness, even in persuading of people. The Church, as a whole, and all of us as individuals are not supposed to simply hang out our “shingle” and wait for the world to come to us. We are supposed to be aggressively going into all the world with the Good News. We have an urgent command to be a witness because the time before our Lord’s return is short.

Billy Graham 24th July 2018 Daily Devotional – What God Expects

Topic: What God Expects [Billy Graham’s Devotional Tuesday July 24, 2018]

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much . . . — Luke 16:10

What God expects, and all God expects, is that we dedicate completely all of our talents and gifts to Him. That is the meaning of the parable of the talents in Matthew, chapter 25. Read this parable, and you will see that we are always rewarded because of our faithfulness. You can be just as faithful as anyone and have the commendation of the Lord. Take the one talent you have and invest it in eternal things. Some talented people lose their reward because they do things to be seen of men. Some untalented people lose their reward because they fail to dedicate what they have, because it is not noticed by men. Both have sinned equally.

Prayer for the day: Let me not be concerned with the praise of men, but may my talent be completely yielded to You, Lord Jesus.

Guardians of the Galaxy Cast Responds to Firing of Director; Chris Pratt Quotes Bible Verse

Chris Pratt, along with his Guardians of the Galaxy co-stars took to social media to comment on the firing of James Gunn.

Gunn was dismissed from The Walt Disney Studio earlier this month after controversial jokes he had made in the past resurfaced on the Internet.

He was fired from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 film, which is slated for 2020.

In response to the firing, Pratt posted a bible verse from the book of James on his Twitter page.

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters. Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.”

Zoe Saldana tweeted: “It’s been a challenging weekend I’m not gonna lie. I’m pausing myself to take everything in before I speak out of term. I just want everyone to know I love ALL members of my GOTG family. Always will.”

Michael Rooker also said he would be leaving his Twitter page because he is “tired and upset over the ongoing bull****.”

After his firing, Gunn said he had made those jokes “decades ago.” The jokes included comments on rape, pedophilia and September 11.

“I have regretted them for many years since — not just because they were…

Penn. UMC Conference Gives Financial Relief to 29 Predominantly Black Congregations in Act of Reconciliation

(Photo: Facebook/Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church)The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.

A regional body of the United Methodist Church based in Pennsylvania has passed a resolution that gives financial relief to 29 historically African-American congregations.

Last month at its annual conference in Oaks, the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference unanimously passed Resolution 2018-25, which relieved the churches “from any further responsibility for any and all prior-years’ balances accumulated prior to December 31, 2017.”

John W. Coleman Jr., spokeperson for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, told The Christian Post on Monday that the debt cancellations have been applied and that “financial statements were mailed to the churches last week.”

“Such acts of reconciliation are important and overdue — and only a beginning — as we reckon with the racial discrimination and injustices of our history, the residue of which is still with us in some ways,” said Coleman.

Resolution 2018-25 noted that with the creation of the United Methodist Church during the 1960s and 1970s, many old and decaying structures originally housing predominantly white congregations were transferred to growing black churches.

These exchanges were encouraged…

Clemson Football Coach Dabo Swinney Shares Testimony at ACC Kickoff

Clemson Football Coach Dabo Swinney Shares Testimony at ACC Kickoff

Clemson’s football coach, Dabo Swinney was recently interviewed during the ACC kickoff. Instead of the usual questions about the team or the upcoming season, he was, instead, asked about his faith.

“Man, that’s the easiest question I’ve had all day,” Swinney commented. Enthusiastically, he responded, recounting his childhood, being raised by parents who taught him there was a God, and later, coming to Christ at the age of sixteen: “And that was a game-changer for me,” he said, “That’s really become the foundation of my life.”

Swinney continued, “It’s hard to survive and thrive in this world if you don’t have a spiritual foundation and have something that that you know, [sic] will give you peace, because life is hard. And we’re all going to experience death and failure and setbacks and disappointments and cancer and, you know, [sic] it’s a really difficult world. And, for me, God has always–in my relationship with Christ–he’s given me hope and peace.”

Swinney also shared his life verse, Jeremiah 29:11, saying that he applied it to his life’s journey and though he is now the head coach of Clemson’s football program, that his “life hasn’t always been this way”:

“I’ve always used that as, to me, if there’s really hope in the future, then there’s power in the present to deal with whatever mess you’re dealing with in your…
